CLINTON -- Mrs. Erma Parsons, 80, of 422 E. Powell Street, died at her home Monday, October 11, 1999.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Hugh Cameron officiating.
Burial will be in the Clinton Cemetery.
She was a native of Johnston County and the daughter of the late Jerry and Lorenza Cole Lee.
She was a retired legal Secretary and attended College at Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA, after graduating high school at Four Oaks.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where she received numerous accommodations such as the Christian Service Award from the United Methodist Women in 1994, and received life membership into the United Methodist Women in 1974.
She was a member of the Suzzanah Wesley Sunday School Class, the Carolyn McDowell and Polly Blackburn Fellowship group, the Friendship Circle and the Golden Needles.
Mrs. Parsons was very active in the Democratic Women's Organization and the AARP.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robey C. Lee and J. Hugh Lee.
Surviving are: husband, Mr. Seth W. Parsons of the home; a son, W. Douglas Parsons and wife, Roxanne N. Parsons of Clinton; a daughter, Jo Lee Parsons and husband, Terry Hensley of Charlotte; a sister, Ms. Evelyn L. Hudson of Benson and two grandchildren, Michael and Rachael Parsons of Clinton.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. at Crumpler Honeycutt Funeral Home and at other times at the home on 422 E. Powell Street, Clinton.
RALPH CLAY PLEASANTS
RALEIGH -- Ralph Clay Pleasants, of 905 Reedy Creek Road, died Monday, October 11, 1999, at Western Wake Medical Center.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, October 13, 1999, at 1 p.m., in Hillcrest Cemetery, Cary, with Reverend Bruce Johnson officiating.
Mr. Pleasants was a lifetime resident of Cary, and was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Murray Pleasants.
Surviving are: two daughters, Rosalie Pleasants, of Cary, and Ann Talton, and husband, Judson Talton, of Cary; one sister, Alice Hodges, of Cary; two grandsons, Randy Talton and Chris Talton, both of Cary; two stepsons, Jerrall Spencer and Ronald Spencer, both of Cary, and eleven step-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 12, 1999, from 7-8:30 p.m., at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary.

WILSON -- Paul Neverson Pridgen, 80, a retired general contractor, died Oct. 11, 1999.
Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. James McKinnon officiating.

Surviving: wife, Elda Lena Holley Pridgen; daughter, Joann P. ALEXANDER M. SALOMON
HILLSBOROUGH -- Alexander Michelin Salomon, 87, a resident of Hillsborough, died Monday, October 11, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in 1912, in Newark, NJ.
He and his late wife, Anne, lived in New York City, and 35 years in Bergen County, NJ.
They moved to Hillsborough in 1978.
He was a member of the Hillsborough United Methodist Church and past administrative board member.
He was the co-founder of the Methodist Church Courier with his late wife, Anne.
He was a member of the Hillsborough Exchange Club, past president of the Exchange Club recipient of the Exchangite of the year in 1983 and 1988.
He also was recipient of the book Golden Deeds.
He was a Mason with the Grand Lodge of the State of New York.
He was a past volunteer with the Durham County Hospital Auxiliary for over 15 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Michelin Salomon Faulkner of Hillsborough; son-in-law, Michael Ross Faulkner; and one grandson, Michelin Blair Faulkner.
A memorial service will be held at the Hillsborough United Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 13, at 1 p.m.
The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
A graveside service will be held Friday, October 15, at 11 a.m. in the George Washington Cemetery in Paramus, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hillsborough United Methodist Church Lift Fund, 130 W. Tryon St., Hillsborough, NC 27278.

KATHRYN GRAY SCOTT
ELIZABETH CITY -- Kathryn Gray Scott, age 67, of 1306 W. Church St., Elizabeth City, NC, died Monday, October 11, 1999 at Albemarle Hospital.
She was born in Wake Co., the daughter of Zola Murray Gray of Garner, NC, and the late Charlie Gray.
She was the wife of Johnnie Warren Scott.
Mrs. Scott was retired as a co-owner/operator of Kay Jay Foods.
Besides her husband and mother, Mrs. Scott is survived by a son, Sam Scott of Janesville, WI; three sisters, Joyce Young of Brevard, NC, Betty Hobbs of Garner, NC, and Dianne Gray of Garner, NC; two brothers, Frank Gray of Gates, Co., NC, and Charles Gray of Smithfield, NC; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Charles D. Scott.
A funeral service will be conducted in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, NC, on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Clay Manos and Rev. Meridith Garrett officiating.
Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the lobby of the funeral home immediately following the funeral and at other times at the residence.

JAMES W. "JIMMY" WALTON THROWER, SR.
WILLIAMSTON -- Mr. James Walton "Jimmy" Thrower, Sr., 75, died Monday, October 11, 1999.
Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, Memorial Baptist Church.

Mr. Thrower was co-owner and manager of Baker Gas Company and a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
On April 20, 1945, he married Ruby Perry Thrower who survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife: daughter, Donna Thrower Yakovich of Calabash, NC; son, James Walton "Jimbo" Thrower, Jr. of Williamston; brother, W.L. "Bill" Thrower of Williamston; sister, Bertha R. Thrower of Williamston; grandson, John Michael White and wife, Leigh of Greenville; great-granddaughter, Eleanor Jayne White.

MARTHA M. TINGEN
SNOW HILL -- Mrs. Martha Manning Tingen, 71, of Route 5, died Sunday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mrs. Tingen was a member of Free Gospel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and homemaker.
Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Snow Hill Cemetery with Rev. Gary Tingen officiating.
Mrs. Tingen was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold "Red" Tingen on November 11, 1998.
Survivors include: daughter, Terri Tingen of Washington, DC; sons, Rusty Tingen and Gary Tingen, both of Snow Hill; sisters, Alma Moore of Goldsboro, Magdalene Jones of Greenville, Margie Hart of Ayden, Barbara Pollard of Belvoir; brothers, James Manning of Walstonburg, Harold Manning of New Bern, George Manning of Durham; five grandchildren.

ALTON "EARL" WARREN
RODANTHE -- Alton "Earl" Warren, 72, of Rodanthe, died Sunday, October 10, 1999 at his residence.
Mr. Warren, both in Fort Barnwell, was a retired electrician with Civil Service.
He was a member of Salvo Assembly of God, the Jacksonville Moose Club, the Cape Hatteras Anglers Club and the IBEW Union.
He was the son of the late Ray and Ada Russell Warren.
Mr. Warren is survived by two daughters, Ada "Kit" Midgett of Rodanthe, Banita Sewell of Jacksonville; son, Russell Warren of Rodanthe; sister, Louise Gutt of Shawano, Wis.; brother, Preston Warren of Surf City; three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Salvo Assembly of God on Wednesday, October 13, 1999 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Cecil Eshleman officiating. The family will meet at the home of Kit Midgett in Rodanthe.

A native of Ocala, Fla., Mr. White was a 1984 graduate of Northern High School in Durham, and was office manager of Onslow Beverage Co.

BERNARD "BERNIE" WOLBORSKY
RALEIGH -- Bernard "Bernie" Wolborsky, 59, of 7021 North Ridge Dr., died June 20, 1997 after a long battle with cancer.
Bernie Wolborsky loved his family, his friends, and his life.
"Bernie, you'll never know how many lives you touched with your smile, your jokes, your stock tips, and your genuine love for everybody."
Mr. Wolborsky was born April 26, 1938 in Williamsburg, N.Y., and moved to Raleigh in 1960, with the Kaiser-Roth Co.
He was a member of Beth Meyer Synagogue.
Surviving: wife, Phyllis Wolborsky; sons, Brad and his wife, Jennifer and granddaughter, Megan Wolborsky of Atlanta, GA, Kevin and wife, Jill Wolborsky of Raleigh, Brian Wolborsky and Mitchell Wolborsky both of the home; mother, Sally Wolborsky.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 1997 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, St. Mary's St.
Burial will follow at Raleigh Hebrew Cemetery.
