Mike worked at Leith Mitsubishi as a auto mechanic.
Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 1997 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel.
Surviving: wife, Christina "Tina" Frank Clarke; son, Michael Ryan Clarke of the home; daughter, Heather Leighanne Clarke of the home; mother, Helen Boondas Clarke of Raleigh; brother, James D. "Jim" Clarke of Holly Springs; sisters, Marilyn C. Hargreaves of Waldorf, Maryland, Kathleen C. Meyers of Wendell; 21 nieces and nephews.

OPIE D. CLAYTON
ROXBORO -- Opie Duncan Clayton, 86, of 426 Virgilina Road, died Wednesday in Roxboro.
She was born in Granville Co., daughter of the late James Wallace and Vinnie Chandler Duncan, wife of the late William "Bill" Rufus Clayton.
Mrs. Clayton was a retired employee of Collins and Aikman Corp., and a member of the Surl Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Vinnie Clayton of the home and Dorothy C. Watson and son-in-law, Charles D. Watson of Raleigh.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, in the Surl Primitive Baptist Church by the Elder David Minter and Burial in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Gray, Ben Wrenn, Willie Chandler, Erman Painter, Earl W. Clayton and Bobby Duncan.
Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Brooks & White Funeral Home, Roxboro.

SMITHFIELD -- Lizzie Lee Creech, 69, died Wednesday [June 18, 1997]. Graveside service 3 p.m. Friday at Roselawn Cemetery, Benson.
Surviving: husband, Bobbie G. Creech; daughter, Ann P. Stephenson of McGee's Crossroads; stepdaughter, Kay C. Morgan of Reidsville; stepson, Randy G. Creech of England; brothers, James Lee of Winton, Arthur Lee of Orlando, FL; sisters, Sarah McAllister of Chattanooga, TN, Virginia Bryant of Coefield, Doris Gillikin of Portsmouth, VA; four granddaughters; five great-grandchildren.

RALEIGH -- Leon Thomas Fleming, Sr., 84, died June 19, 1997. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Fleming is survived by his wife, Evelyn G. Fleming; son, Leon Thomas Fleming, Jr.; daughter, Barbara Doster; grandchildren, Joey and Nate Doster; sisters, Alton F. Moore and Helen F. Sparrow.

LOTTIE BELL PERRY FULLER
RALEIGH -- Lottie Bell Perry Fuller, 91, of 6609 Old Stage Road, died Thursday, June 19, 1997. Mrs. Fuller worked for 28 years with the State of North Carolina as a Switchboard Operator at Dorothea Dix Hospital.

PEGGY MITCHELL GRIFFIN
FAIRMONT -- Mrs. Peggy Mitchell Griffin, 65, of 1104 Park Avenue, died Thursday in Rex Healthcare Center, Raleigh, N.C. following a short illness.
Mrs. Griffin was born May 26, 1932 in Nash County, N.C. She was preceded in death by her father, Mark Mitchell. Mrs. Griffin was a retired teacher in the special education department for the Public Schools of Robeson County for 30 years. She was a National Association of Educators and a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught in the children's department for twenty years.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. in First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Mark Gaskins. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by her husband, A.L. Griffin of the home; daughter, Katherine Griffin of Raleigh; mother, Marjorie Marshburn Efird of Kinston; and her adoptive father, Hubert Ledford of Raleigh; three sisters, Marjorie Parker of Monroe, Ruth Miller of Sheridon, Wyoming, and Mary Efird of Kinston.

RITA M. KEARNEY
RALEIGH -- Rita Marie Kearney died at Hillhaven Convalescent Center on June 18, 1997.
She was born in Easton, Pa., October 19, 1920 to the late Robert E. and Marie O. Kearney.
She graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High and attended Moravian College and the University of Mexico.
Later, she became a model in N.Y. and Philadelphia and was crowned Miss Health Queen of Philadelphia in 1955.
She moved to Raleigh in 1972 and was employed by the Computer Co. and EDS, retiring in 1987.
A funeral Mass will be at St. Raphael Catholic Church at 10 a.m. June 21.
She is survived by a brother, Joseph and his wife, Agnes Kearney; three nieces, Kathy Knight, Rita and Patricia Kearney; one nephew, Robert Kearney all of Raleigh, N.C.
The family will receive friends one hour before Mass or at their home at 1105 Country Ridge Dr.

JOCHEBED CHRISTMAS LOCUST
DURHAM -- Mrs. Jochebed Christmas Locust, 83, of 1006 Lawson Street, died Monday, June 16, in Duke University Medical Center. She was a native of Suffolk, Virginia and the daughter of the late Marcus and Susie Christmas.
She was educated in the Warren County and Durham City Schools, having graduated from Hillside High School. She was an honor graduate from North Carolina College for Negroes, now North Carolina Central University with B.S. and M.A. degrees. She did special work in French and Drama at Duke University and also studied on a special fellowship at Tuskegee University.
She taught at Little River High School, Northern High School and Merrick-Moore High School. She also taught at North Carolina Central University.
She was a member of White Rock Baptist Church where she was a member of the Deacon Board, Susie V. Norfleet Bible Class, Shepard-Williams-Womack Missionary Circle and College View District. She was also a member of the Rosewood Street Neighborhood Club.
She was a longtime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., having served as the second president of the Durham Alumnae Chapter. She was a volunteer with Call-for-Action and Contact Services of Durham.
Her husband, Richard C. Locust, died in 1994.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in White Rock Baptist Church by Rev. Dr. Reginald Van Stephens. Burial will be in Glennview Memorial Park's Garden of Devotion.
Surviving are a son, Lewis C. Locust; granddaughter, Christina Locust; sisters, Henrietta Christmas Pazmineo of New Orleans, La., and Rebecca Christmas Weatherford of Raleigh; brother, Joseph Christmas of Saint Thomas, Virgin Islands.
The family will receive friends from7-8 p.m. Saturday in White Rock Baptist Church, 3400 Fayetteville Street.
Delta Sigma Theta Omega Omega Sorority services will be held at 6:30 p.m.

JOE L. McKAY
RALEIGH -- Mr. Joe Louis McKay of 905 Greenwich Drive, died Monday, June 16, 1997.
Funeral service to be held on Saturday, 1 p.m. at Haywood Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Surviving: three brothers; five sisters; and a host of other relatives.

TOM R. MOYE
RALEIGH -- Tom Ruffin Moye, 67, died Thursday, June 18, 1997.
Mr. Moye was born in Franklin County, and lived most of his life in Raleigh. He was a packaging engineer for 25 years at IBM, and he served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Moye was a Sunday School teacher at Trinity United Methodist Church, where he taught "The Tom Moye Class," before moving to Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, where he taught the "Trinity Class." He was also a volunteer for the Rex Cancer Center.
Surviving are his daughter, Laura Pigg, husband, Phil and their daughter, Patricia of Raleigh; sisters, Susie Kent and Rachel Goodwin of Raleigh, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Williamson and son, Thomas in 1965.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, with interment following in Montlawn Memorial Park.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m. Friday at Mitchell Funeral Home, 600 Saint Mary's St.
