CHARLOTTE TANNER REYNOLDS

DANVILLE, VA. -- Mrs. Charlotte Tanner Reynolds, of 327 West Main Street, died Monday morning, June 16, 1997, at her residence after a decline in health for the past several years.
She was born in Danville, VA, on July 16, 1927, a daughter of Alvin M. Tanner and Eva Gilley Tanner.
Mrs. Reynolds was a life long resident of Danville, where she attended the public schools and was a graduate of Stratford Hall.
She was a member of the West Main Baptist Church.
On Oct. 15, 1949 she married Paul D. Reynolds, Jr. who survives of the home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Paul D. Reynolds, III and his wife, Lynn of Raleigh, N.C. and David S. Reynolds and his wife Mitzi of Richmond, VA; daughter, Paula R. Haynes and her husband, Mike of Danville; two grandchildren, Paul D. Reynolds, IV and Mary Margaret Reynolds, both of Raleigh, N.C.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., from Mountain View Cemetery, by the Rev. Bruce Wilson.
Townes Funeral Home in is charge of arrangements, and the family will receive friends at the residence, 327 West Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Danville Life Saving Crew or West Main Baptist Church.

VIRGINIA DARE D. SCHNELL

DURHAM -- Mrs. Virginia Dare Dunnegan Schnell, 86, died Monday morning [June 16, 1997], at Hillcrest Convalescent Center.
Mrs. Schnell was predeceased by her husband, Mr. Robert Howard Schnell and was the daughter of the late Rosa Lee and Adolphus Edgar Dunnegan.
She was born in Durham, but spent most of her life in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y., and Chapel Hill.
Mrs. Schnell was a member of Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church and was a homemaker.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m., at Clements Funeral Home, by Dr. Scott Andrews.
Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Clements Funeral Home, Tuesday evening from 7:30-9 p.m.
Mrs. Schnell is survived by several nieces and nephews and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that friends make memorial contributions to the charity of their choice.

LEWIS W. STINSON

RALEIGH -- Lewis William Stinson, 92, of 8200 Litchford Road, died Monday [June 16, 1997].
Graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Montlawn Memorial Park.
Surviving are his son, Charles (Rudy) Stinson of Garner; daughter, Catherine Pernell of Raleigh; brother, Robert Stinson of Charlotte; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Millbrook Road.

MACK C. "M.C." YOPP

CLAYTON -- Mack Claudy "M.C." Yopp, 81, formerly of Sneads Ferry, died Sunday, June 15, 1997, at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount.
Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Onslow Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Bryant Camp officiating.
Mr. Yopp was a native of Sneads Ferry, the son of the late M.C. Yopp, Sr. and Evelyn Everett Yopp.
He was the owner/operator of Yopp Marina.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Poole Yopp; daughter, Angela Y. and Ross Lane of Spring Hope; grandchildren, Andy and Shelly Miller of Woodbridge, VA, Amy and Robert Tate of Mebane; great-grandchild; brothers, Orvid Yopp and W.C. Yopp, both of Sneads Ferry; sisters, Flossie Thomas of Hampstead and Evelyn Waugh of Jacksonville.

PAUL A. YOUNGS

DURHAM -- Rev. Paul Austin Youngs, 82, died Sunday, June 15, 1997, at Hillcrest Coalescent Center.
Rev. Youngs was born in Rosenberg, TX, the son of the late Austin Tecumseh Youngs and Anna Jennetty Perry Youngs.
A veteran, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps at the end of WWII.
He was a graduate of the University of Corpus Christi, and held graduate degrees in Divinity and Theology from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary; and degrees in Science from Arizona State University at Tempe.
Rev. Youngs was pastor to churches in Louisville, KY, Holbrook, AZ, and Williston, ND; and interim pastor to a number of Arizona churches, while serving on the faculty and as Dean of Student at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ.
He retired from the University and was selected as an Outstanding Educator of America.
Rev. Youngs' first wife, Helen McDaniel Youngs, preceded him in death in 1964.
His brother, Marion E. Youngs of Tega Cay, S.C., died in 1995.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Ferrell Youngs, who he married in 1966.
Also surviving are his son, Douglas Lee Youngs and his wife, Linda of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughters, Wendy Marie Swern and Lisa Michelle Youngs and great-granddaughter, Briana Lee Swern; brother, Fred L. Youngs and his wife, Marian of Corpus Christi, TX; and sister-in-law, Tina Youngs of Tega Cay, S.C.; sister, Alva Stietenroth of Houston, TX, and a number of other sisters and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m., in First Baptist Church in Durham,
Dr. Bill R. Williams of Phoenix, AZ and Rev. Crate Jones officiating.
Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m., at Cements Funeral Home, in Durham.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the Scholarship fund of Grand Canyon University, 3300 W. Camelback Rd., Phoenix, AZ, 85017, or to the building fund of First Baptist Church, 414 Cleveland St., Durham, N.C. 27701.

VIOLA ZNOY

RALEIGH -- Viola Znoy, 89, formerly of Weirton, WV, died Sunday, June 15, 1997.
Surviving: son, Dr. Joseph Znoy; daughter, Naomi Wolfe; two brothers; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Friends received at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, Tuesday, 7-9 p.m.
Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Sacred Heart of Mary Church.
Interment at St. Paul Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to Sacred Heart of Mary Church, 175 Stroud Ave., Weirton, WV 26062.

DEBORAH C. CONNOR

WILSON -- Deborah Conner Connor, 61, widow of David M. Connor, Jr., died Monday [June 16, 1997].
She was born in Mecklenburg County, to Frank H. and Virginia Glisan Conner.
She graduated St. Mary's College in Raleigh, and attended UNC-Chapel Hill.
At St. Mary's, she was an outstanding student and later sat on the Alumni Council.
Funeral, Thursday, 10 a.m. St. Timothy's Episcopal Church.
Interment will be for the immediate family.
Surviving: daughter, Mrs. Bradley (Kate) Herring of Rocky Mount; son, David M. Connor, III of Raleigh; granddaughters, Carrington and Isabel Virginia Herring; mother, Virginia Glisan Conner of Charlotte; brothers, Frank H. Conner, Jr. of Charlotte, and Philip G. Conner of Oxford, MD.
The family will be at home, 2856-B Forest Hills Loop.
Memorials are suggested to St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 1527, Wilson, N.C., to the American Cancer Society or to St. Mary's College in Raleigh.

JESSE B. "BEN" DAVIS

RALEIGH -- Jesse Benjamin "Ben" Davis, 76, of 617 Edmund Street, died Tuesday, June 17, 1997 at his home.
Mr. Davis was born in Johnston County, and graduated from Corinth Holder High School.
Mr. Davis worked for 20 years as a Shell Service Station attendant and 23 years as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service and attended Temple Baptist Church.
Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 1997, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, Knightdale.
Burial, Montlawn Memorial Park.
Surviving: wife Mildred Whitley Davis; sons, Harold Davis and his wife, Joyce of Winston-Salem, Earl Davis and his wife, Ann of Raleigh; daughters, Susan Hamlet and her husband, John of Raleigh, Debra Stanley and her husband, Karey of Raleigh; brothers, Robert Davis and James Davis, both of Wendell; sister, Esther D. Hamilton of Wendell; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 1997 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale and other times, at the home.
Flowers are accepted but memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 4513 Creedmoor Road, Fourth Floor, Raleigh, NC 27612.

THOMAS O. GENTRY

ROXBORO -- Thomas Oliver Gentry, 90, of 1244 Gentry Ridge Road, Roxboro, died Monday [June 16, 1997] in the Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
He was a native of Person County, and the son of the late Eddie Thomas and Rosa O'Brient Gentry.
Mr. Gentry was husband of the late Minnie McGregor Gentry for 60 years.
Mr. Gentry was a 1929 Duke graduate and devoted Duke basketball fan.
He worked with the N.C. Public Schools as a teacher and principal for 40 years.
Serving in the following: Scotland Co. at Laurel Hill, Seven Springs, Lucama, in Person County at Hurdle Mills, and Allensville Schools.
After retirement, Mr. Gentry continued to teach as a substitute for 20 years and also worked with American Bankers.
He served on the Board of Directors for Piedmont Community College, was a member of the Roxboro Lions Club for over 40 years and was associated with the scouting program for 60 years.
He was an Eagle Scout and received the Silver Beaver Award.
Mr. Gentry was a very active and devoted member of the Allensville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by one son, Staley Gentry of Raleigh; daughter, Kathie G. Brown of Virginia Beach, VA.; brother, Ed Gentry of Salisbury; four sisters, Mary G. Williams of Raleigh Ella G. Gibson of Raeford, Edna G. Harkey of Hilton Head Island, S.C., Huldah G. Tracy of East Falmouth, ME; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, at Allensville United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Ron Patton.
Burial will be in the Allensville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Brooks & White Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Thomas and Minnie Gentry Scholarship Fund, c/o Allensville United Methodist Church, 80 Dirgie Mine Road, Roxboro, N.C. 27573.

FRANCES M. GOODE

BEDFORD, VA -- Frances Morris Goode, 84, of 938 Lake Drive, died Monday, June 16, 1997.
She was born in Thomason, Georgia, October 15,1912, a daughter of the late Thomas Saunders Morris and Mary Pamila Young Morris.
She was the widow of Lloyd O. "Buzzy" Goode, a member of Bedford Baptist Church and was a retired Real Estate Agent for Scott and Bond Real Estate.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd O. and Michelle R. Goode of Raleigh; daughter, Cecelia G. Klink of Gloucester, VA; brother, Ben Y. Morris of Rogersville, TN; three sisters, Elizabeth M. Taylor of Easley, SC, Marjorie M. Goodwin of Raleigh, NC, Virginia M. Prewitt of Amarillo, TX; two grandsons, Robert W. Klink Jr. of Chapel Hill, Jason L. Klink of Williamsburg.
Graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 1997, in Oakwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. David L. Henderson officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Steeple Fund of Bedford Baptist Church, 1516 Oakwood St., Bedford, VA 24523.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
