Lucille R. Price
Lucille R. Price of Raleigh passed away Jan. 4, 2004. Mrs. Price was the daughter of Jodie and Lillie Wooten Ragan. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 6, at Apex Funeral Home with the Rev. William Green officiating. Burial followed in the Apex Cemetery. The family received friends prior to the funeral service.
Mrs. Price is survived by her brother, Jodie (J. B.) Ragan of Pinehurst, and sister-in-law, Clyde Stone Ragan of Apex. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Marjorie T. Britt and husband John of Cary, Judith T. Woodell of Apex, Ferman Ragan of Lexington, Bryant Ragan and wife Barbara of Thomasville, Brenda R. Jones and husband Glenn of Apex, and Woodrow Ragan and wife Debra of Garner. Her husband, Lewyn (Jack) Wilder Price, died on Sept. 19, 1996.
Ruth Cole Boling
Ruth Cole Boling, 89, of Cary died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cary and a longtime member of Edith Chapter No. 160 Order of the Eastern Star in Cary.
Surviving are son David Lee Boling and wife Dollie, and grandson Christopher Boling of Raleigh; and son, Arthur Franklin Boling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Boling.
Graveside services will be held today, Thursday, at 2 p.m. at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. The family received friends Wednesday evening at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary.

Robert Vance 'Butch' Trexler
Robert Vance "Butch" Trexler, 58, of Granite Quarry, formerly of Cary, died Sunday morning, Dec. 21, 2003 at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, after several years of declining health.
He was born April 24, 1945, in Rowan County, the son of Dewette Eagle Trexler of Salisbury and the late Zeb Trexler. A graduate of North Rowan High School and Cabarrus Community College, he had worked for Bahnson Co. as an environmental systems designer; for Edward Stone and Co. as an environmental systems representatives; and for AF McQuay Corp. as a sales representative.
He was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church in Spencer and had many special friends at the Abundant Living Adult Day Care.
An infant son, Zeb Trexler, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patricia "Patsy" Nesbitt Trexler of the home; a daughter, Mollie Elizabeth Trexler of the home; sons, Donald D. Trexler of Granite Quarry and Charles R. Trexler of Concord; and sisters, Gwen Turney Tuchek of Granite Quarry and Betty T. Weant of Rockwell.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 23, at Oakdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Gross, church pastor, and the Rev. Robert T. Heard, the former church pastor, officiating. Burial was to follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends Monday evening, Dec. 22, at Lyerly Funeral Home in Salisbury and other times at the home of sister Gwen Tuchek in Granite Quarry.

John R. 'Jack' LeRoy
John R. "Jack" LeRoy, 78, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003 after a long and difficult illness. Jack was born in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and had lived in Cary for the past 27 years. He worked as a sales associate in the dental supply field for many years before his retirement in 1991. He was a World War II veteran, a lifetime member of VFW Post 7383 and a member of American Legion Post 67. Jack's passions were his children, grandchildren and golfing.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maxine LeRoy of Cary; one son, Doug LeRoy and wife Michelle of Holly Springs; and one daughter, Nancy and husband Brack Williams, also of Holly Springs; two sisters, Myra LeRoy of Stoutsville, Ohio, and Jeanne Hamill of West Chester, Pa.; and four grandchildren, Katherine, Anne and Margaret LeRoy, and Braxton Williams.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Dec. 22, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary. Burial followed at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.
The family received friends Sunday afternoon, Dec. 21, at the funeral home.

Dorothea A. Baumeister
Dorothea A. Baumeister, 93, who resided at Cary Health and Rehabilitation Center, died Dec. 17, 2003. She was born Feb. 19, 1910, in Milwaukee, Wis., grew up in Austria and Germany, and returned to the United States in 1938. She lived in New York City and Easton, Pa., and in Cary for the last 17 years. This much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother enjoyed other people and helped many individuals. Dori had a wonderful sense of humor that was appreciated by family, friends and caregivers. She was well-traveled and always had interesting stories to tell. Dori liked to listen to classical music.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Carl Frost and Karl Baumeister. Surviving are her daughter, Frances Johnson and husband Allen of Cary; three grandchildren, Rebecca Rose, Carl Johnson and wife, Laurie of western North Carolina, and Chris Johnson and wife Joy of California; and a great-grandson, Hayden Johnson.
A memorial service was held Monday afternoon, Dec. 22, at Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church in Cary.

Agnes Scarlett Horton
Agnes Scarlett Horton, 62, of Apex died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003 at home surrounded by her loving family. Employed by Duke University Medical Center in the early 1960s, she devoted the rest of her life to being a proud homemaker, beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was a friend to all that knew her.
She was a faithful member of Bell's Baptist Church, where a funeral service was held Friday afternoon, Dec. 19, with the Rev. Rick Washington and Dr. Johnny Ross officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Horton is survived by her husband, Vossie Lee Horton; son, Todd Lee Horton and wife, Laura of Apex; grandson, John Lee Horton, and granddaughter, Elizabeth Laura Horton; mother, Louise Scarlett of Hillsborough; brothers, Ellis Scarlett Jr. of Fairfax, Va., and Van Scarlett and wife, Lianne of Raleigh; sister, Sandra Melton and husband, Danny of Kernersville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family received friends Thursday evening, Dec. 18, at Bell's Baptist Church.

Katherine Celena Mullenix Jesse
Katherine Celena Mullenix Jesse, 93, of Holly Springs and formerly of Silver Springs, Md., died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at Western Wake Medical Center. Mrs. Jesse was a career service wife of Col. William C. Jesse, U.S. Army. She served as clerk of courts, Coatesville District, in Chester County, Pa. She was an active volunteer and a loving mother.
A memorial service was held Saturday afternoon, Dec. 20, at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Cary. Inurnment was to be in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Jesse is survived by her daughter, Kathy Robertson of Bethesda, Md.; sons, Robert Eager of Orange City, Fla., and W. Chris Jesse and wife, Judi of Holly Springs; grandchildren, Tim Best, Bonnie Huott, Mary Hood, Amanda Thompson and Rachel Shugarman; and six great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death.

Lloyd T. Jenkins
Lloyd T. Jenkins, 84, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Wylodine R. Jenkins; daughter, Lynda J. Shipley (Tony L.) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and two sons, Richard L. Jenkins (Anna) of Houston, Texas, and Thomas A. Jenkins of Cincinnati, Ohio; and three grandchildren, John T. Jenkins, and Blake and Robyn Shipley. A sister, Anette M. Jenkins of Spearfish, S.D., a brother, William H. Jenkins (Helen) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a sister-in-law, Joanne R. Garnett of Florence, Ala., also survive him.
Mr. Jenkins was a captain in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He retired after 26 years from Monsanto Colo., as a research chemist. He was an avid golfer, a member of the Swingin' Saints Square Dance Club and a very active volunteer in many community services.
Visitation was held Thursday evening, Dec. 4, at Harper-Morris Funeral Home. Services were held Friday, Dec. 5, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, in Pensacola, Fla., followed by burial at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, Fla.

William Errol Spencer Jr.
William Errol Spencer Jr., 83, of Apex died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Lawndale Manor in Garner. Mr. Spencer was born in Stockton, Calif., on May 29, 1920.
A funeral service was held Saturday morning, Dec. 6, in Apex Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Apex Cemetery.
William Spencer graduated from San Jose State College with a bachelor of arts degree in economics, minoring in English. He served as a lieutenant second grade in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he worked for the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. He returned to San Jose and became assistant treasurer at FMC, and later vice president of insurance at Rexall Drugs in LA. His last position was as a broker for Lloyds of London.
He is survived by his sons, William E. Spencer III of Park Ridge, Chicago; Jon F. Spencer and his wife Nancy of Apex; Erle K. Spencer and his wife Paula of Los Angeles; Randall Lee Spencer of California; and Robert F. Spencer and his wife Lydia of Culver City, Calif.; as well as eight grandchildren.
His wife, Virginia Lee Kesling Spencer, preceded him in death. The family received friends Friday evening, Dec. 5, at Apex Funeral Home.
