Lovenia N. Hamilton
Lovenia N. Hamilton, 80, was called to heaven on Nov. 8, 2002.
The funeral service was held on Nov. 10, at Vandora Springs Freewill Baptist Church.
Burial followed at Montlawn Memorial Park.
Surviving are her daughters, Shirley Seagroves of Garner, Sherlyn Dennis of Apex; sons, D.H. Hamilton of Angier, Gerald Hamilton of Garner, Jack Hamilton of Willow Spring, Jerry Hamilton of Fuquay-Varina and Sherwood Hamilton of Smithfield; sister, Christine Norris of Angier, Ruby Baker of Angier, Ruth Beasley of Garner, Betty Norris of Garner, Katherine Searcy of Willow Spring, Janice Sais of Garner and Mary Owen of Virginia; brothers, John Norris, Robert Norris and Wilbert Norris, all of Angier and Aaron Norris of Goldsboro; 24 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Halford Hamilton; her mother, Esther B. Norris and a brother, Avant Norris.

Mary Dean Hamilton
Mary Lou Dean Hamilton, 48, died Tuesday [Nov. 5, 2002].
Funeral was at Holland Methodist Church.
Burial took place in the church Cemetery.
Surviving are husband, James Howard Hamilton: daughters, Kimberly Dawn Nobling and husband, Buddy of Raleigh; Jenny Lou Hamilton, and fiance’ Ben of the home; granddaughter, Samantha Nobling; sister, Myra Dean Murry and husband Mark of Raleigh.
The family received friends at Sugg Funeral Home in Fuquay-Varina.
Martha Garner Jones
Martha Garner Jones, 91, of Highway 301, died Saturday afternoon, at the Brian Center in Clayton.
Born in Johnston County, on October 28, 1911, she was the daughter of the late William Eli and Rebecca Eason Garner.
Martha was a seamstress with Norwich Mills for 22 years, and the last surviving member of the family of eight siblings.
She was the widow of Carl Howard Jones, who died in 1978.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, with Rev. Tim Stevens officiating.
Interment followed in Selma Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are: daughter, Edna Jones Blevins and husband Ralph of Garner; two grandchildren, Ginger Ridge Ennis of Garner and David Austin Ridge of Selma; two great-grandchildren, Amanda Gray Ennis and Benjamin Clayton Ennis, both of Garner.
The family received friends at the funeral home Sunday, and other times, at the home of Edna and Ralph Blevins, 8706 Crestwood Drive, Garner, NC 27529.
Evelyn Wrike Staley
Evelyn Wrike Staley passed on June 1, 2004, at the age of 87.
She was born in Randolph County, NC, on November 17, 1916, the daughter of Edward B. Wrike and Mamie J. Wrike.
She grew up in Jamestown, NC, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1933.
Following graduation, she attended Brevard College, then received an R.N. degree from the Philadelphia School of Nursing.
She served in World War II as a nurse and 1st Lieutenant, where she met her husband, Donald Rex Staley.
After the war, they made their home in Garner, NC, for many years, raising two children.
She moved to High Point, NC, after her husband's death in 1990, and resided there until 2001.
She moved to West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, to live with daughter, Marian.
Her life was characterized by her profession: a sense of persistence, optimism, and giving herself to others.
She was a long-time member of the Garner United Methodist Church, a leader in the WSCS, the Literary Ladies Book Club, and youth work from 1954 until 1990 (Sunday School and Girl Scouts).
Evelyn was pre-deceased by her husband and her mother and father; two brothers; Edward Wrike, Jr., and Worth Jennings Wrike; a beloved sister, Frances Koontz; and her brother-in-law, W.C. Koontz, Jr.
She is survived by one daughter, Marian Spencer of West Waterbridge, MA (Robert), and a son, Donald E. Staley of Wilmington, DE (Eileen), six grandchildren: Seth and Ethan Spencer, David, Colin, Mary, and Mark Staley, 7 nephews and 4 nieces.
Special remembrances include the sons of W.C. and Frances Koontz of High Point: Jerry Webster Koontz and William E. (Billy) Koontz; and nephew Peter J. Wrike of Cobbs Creek, VA.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, at Sechrest Funeral Home Chapel in High Point, NC, officiated by Robert Spencer.
Interment will be at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Friday evening, from 5 until 7:00 PM.
JEANETTE P. RAY
RALEIGH -- Jeanette Price Ray, 57, of 4400 Lake Ridge Dr., died Wednesday, June 18, 1997 at her home, after an 18-month battle with cancer.
A native of Spring Hope, she was a 1957 graduate of Franklinton High School.
At age 22, Jeanette began her long career with the State of North Carolina.
Almost three decades of that 34-year career were spent with the State Community College System.
She served as a budget coordinator, an administrative officer and at the time of her retirement in May 1996, was Assistant Director of the Departmental and Equipment Services Section.
In 1964, she was honored as Woman of the Year by the Capital Tarheel Chapter of the American Business Women's Association.
She served four years as General Treasurer of the N.C. State Employees Association.
Jeanette was also a member of the Association of Community College Business Officers.
Jeanette was the daughter of Nellie Jeffreys Price and the late James Burton Price.
Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 1997, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, Knightdale.
Burial, Oakdale Cemetery, Spring Hope, N.C.
Surviving: daughter, Wanda Ray Calder and her husband Mark of Raleigh; grandson, William Chase Calder; granddaughter, Allison Jeanette Calder; mother, Nellie Jeffreys Price; brother, Jim Price of Pelham, Alabama.
Family will receive relatives and friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 1997, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale and other times, at the home of her mother, 3824 Lee Road, Raleigh.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jeanette Ray Scholarship fund, payable to the Department of Community Colleges.
Donations may be sent to the Finance Division, Department of Community Colleges, 200 West Jones St., Raleigh, N.C. 27603.
PATRICIA P. WOMBLE
GREENVILLE -- Patricia Perry Womble, 43, died Wednesday, June 18, 1997, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Womble, a native of Chowan County, received her BSN and Master's in Nursing, from East Carolina School of Nursing.
Her career included staff nursing at Duke University Medical Center, various clinical and administrative roles at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Director of Nursing at Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie, and for the past five years, had been a clinical instructor at the ECU School of Nursing.
She was an active member of the North Carolina Nursing Association and Sigma Theta Tau.
She was active in the Pamlico Sailing club and the United States Power Squadron.
Trish was preceded in death by her father, the late Carroll Perry of Tyner.
She is survived by: husband, Bill Womble of Greenville; mother and stepfather, Audrey and Jack Leary of Tyner; sisters, Belinda Patterson of Greenville, Jo Ann Carpenter of St. Petersburg, Florida; brother, Carroll Perry, Jr. of Tyner; grandmother, Elsie Bunch of Edenton.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family expresses its appreciation to the physicians and staff of Pitt County Memorial Hospital, for the excellent care and support during Patricia's illness and many hospitalizations.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial contributions be made to a scholarship fund established at the East Carolina School of Nursing.

Vergie Ferrell Gay
Vergie Ferrell Gay, 89, formerly of the Pearce Community, died Monday, November 4, 2002, at Rex Convalescent Care Center.
Mrs. Gay was born in Wake County, on July 14, 1913, to the late Arthur Ferrell and Bettie Richards Ferrell.
Funeral Service was 11 a.m. November 7, at Pearce Baptist Church Cemetery.
Surviving: sons, B.K. Gay, Jr. and his wife, Pat of Raleigh, Dan Gay of Raleigh; grandchildren, Donna Gay Flynn an husband, James K. Flynn of Charlotte, and Shannon Gay of Raleigh; great-grandchildren, Ian Flynn, Seth Flynn, Ross Flynn, all of Charlotte.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gay was preceded in death by her husband, Blanchard K. Gay, Sr.; brother, Benton Ferrell and sister, Vessie Ferrell.
Flowers are accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Pearce Baptist Church, 4634 Pearces Road, Zebulon, NC 27597.
