David Clifton Killen
David Clifton Killen, 58, of Apex died May 18, 2006.
He was born in Florence, S.C., on Feb. 17, 1948, to the late William Clifton and Jo Evelyn Anderson Killen. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 1971 with a degree in aerospace engineering. Mr. Killen retired from Progress Energy after 32 years of service and recently started his own business, Killen Steam Engineering. He attended Fellowship of Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Traynham Killen of Apex; daughter, Meredith Killen Lanier and husband, Paul, of Kernersville; son, Jason Alexander Killen and wife, Jennifer Claire, of Chatham County; grandson, Joseph Traynham Killen of Chatham County; and brother, Gary Killen and wife, Wanda, of Florence, S.C.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 22, at Apex Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh.
The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Paul Edward 'Eddie' Cooper
Paul Edward "Eddie" Cooper, 52, of 109 White Cedar Run, Holly Springs, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at UNC Hospitals Chapel Hill.
He was a precious man of integrity and a man after God's own heart. Mr. Cooper was a loving husband, devoted father, son and brother.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, April Cooper; daughters, Natalie Marie Miller and her husband, Steve of Orlando, Fla., and Rachel Renee' Cooper, of Orlando, Fla.; mother, Charlene Cooper of Allen, Texas; sisters, Lutricia Merritt and her husband, Gary of Freeland, Minn., Katherine Franceschina and her husband, Rob of Temperance, Minn., DeLinda Cooper of South Riding, Va.; and Rowena Sanders and her husband, Chester of Lucas, Texas; and nephews and nieces, Thomas Merritt, Christopher Merritt, Kassey Carney, Candice Sanders and Katie Sanders.
The family received friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. (N.C. 55), Apex. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Apex Funeral Home. Burial followed in Apex Cemetery.
Kirk Edward Foster
July 15, 1937-Jan. 6, 2006
Kirk Foster, 68, of Cary, died Jan. 6, 2006.
He was born and raised in the small town of Winlock, Wash., by Walter and Mildred "Mim" Foster with his older brother Paul. After living in Ohio and Michigan, during which time he married and had two children, he settled in Cary in 1967 and made it home for him and his family. He had a long and distinguished service with the Federal Environmental Protection Agency.
After retiring from the EPA, he worked for several more years for the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Outside of his career he had many passions including photography, carpentry, mechanical and electrical tinkering, gardening and the study of history. He was also an active member of Greenwood Forest Baptist Church for many years.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years, Mary; a daughter Renee and her fiancé Bo Hemphill, a son Robin with wife Susan, his new granddaughter Amelia, and his brother Paul. He also leaves behind a large family of relatives and many friends and neighbors who loved him dearly. Kirk wanted everyone to know that he "Loved life and had a good one." A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Greenwood Forest Baptist Church in Cary. The Revs. Randy Sherron and Luther Brewer officiated.
The family received friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.

William 'Dub' Wilson
William "Dub" Wilson, 78, of Apex died Jan. 8, 2006, after an extended illness. Mr. Wilson's special hobby was fishing.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, in Martha's Chapel Christian Church Cemetery.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his sisters, Violet Markham and Clariene Kidd, both of Durham; brother, Eddie Wilson and wife, Peggy, of Durham; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3117 Poplarwood Court, Suite 114, Raleigh, NC 27604.

Gloria Chavez Stephens
Sofia Gloria Chavez de'Stephens, 79, of Apex, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, in WakeMed Cary Hospital. A funeral mass will be Friday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church, 804 High House Road, Cary. The burial will be in Apex Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosa M. Stephens; grandchildren, Mara Anthony Stephens, and Jeremy M. Marquardt and wife, Erinn Marquardt; and great-grandchildren, Brandon, Joshua and Chase.

Kerry Don Powell
Kerry Don Powell, 43, of Cary, and formerly of West Memphis, Ark., died May 12, 2006.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 18, in the Apex Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the graveside service at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. (N.C. 55), Apex.
He is survived by his parents, Don E. Powell and Louise Pratt Powell of Cary; sister, Kriste Nunnally and her husband, Dean, and niece, Mackenzie of Cary; grandmother, Dean Pratt of Tulsa, Okla.; and several aunts and uncles.

Gary Bennette Wrenn
Gary Bennette Wrenn, 54, of Cary died Sunday, May 14, 2006, at WakeMed Cary Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. (N.C. 55), Apex, conducted by the Rev. Mark Palmer.
Gary is survived by his sister, Julie Ray of Durham; brothers, David Yates of Apex and Robbie Wrenn of Cary; nieces, Kim Seagroves and Kay Ray; his special aunt, Kay Yates of Apex; and his other aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at Apex Funeral Home.

Carole Jean Zettwoch Mask Wright
Carole Jean Zettwoch Mask Wright, 69, died May 8, 2006, at home surrounded by her family.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 12, at 3:30 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church on High House Road in Cary.
Carole was born in St. Louis, Mo., on Feb. 11, 1937, and moved to the Cary area in January 1977. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Cary for 30 years and recently retired from the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency after 29 years of service with the federal government.
Diagnosed with ovarian cancer a year ago, Carole continued to live her life to its fullest by spending time with family and friends and giving lifelong memories. She will be remembered for her strength, strong faith and amazing courage.
Carole is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Marjorie Zettwoch, brother, Andrew Zettwoch, and previous husband, Edward J. Mask.
Carole is survived by her husband, Lynn H. Wright; son, James Mask of Grafton, Mass., and his wife, Alice; daughters, Andrea Manus of Cary and Stephanie Mason of the home and her fiance, Art Grover of Fredericksburg, Va.; grandchildren, Sara and Jayme Mask of Grafton, Mass., Jordan and Shelby Manus of Cary, Laura Mason of Cary and Denise and Danielle Grover of Clayton; former sons-in-law, Horace Mason of Pittsboro and Dan Manus of Cary; sisters, Elizabeth Ann Jacobs and Vicki Huffman and her husband, Robert, of St. Louis, Mo.; sister-in-law, Janet Wright and huband, Hillory, of Flowood, Miss; nieces and nephews, Alaina and Carrie Huffman of Clayton, Jennifer Simon and her family of Pensacola, Fla., Bill Wright of Blacksburg, Va., Walter Wright of Bryson City, Wayne Wright of Cabot, Ark., and Steven and Todd Jacobs along with their families from St. Louis, Mo.
