Eleanor Ruth Jones
Eleanor Ruth Jones of Cary passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2005. She was a loving mother and grandmother whose life revolved around her family and relationship with God.
Survivors include her daughter, Andrea Hadley of Cary, and granddaughters, Debra Hadley Wright and husband, David of Morrisville, and Laura Hadley Irvin and husband, Lee of Cary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. Jones, and her parents, William and Meta Brandenburg.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home. The family received friends prior to the service. Interment followed at Raleigh Memorial Park.
Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary, is in charge of arrangements.
Josephine 'Elaine' Potter
Josephine "Elaine" Potter, 90, of Cary, died on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at Cary Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A native of New Hampton, Iowa, she was born on Dec. 4, 1915, to the late Frank and Lulu Glass Fertig. In addition to her parents, Don Potter, her husband of 58 years, also preceded her in death. Elaine was a member of the Cary Prime Timers for many years and attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Her son, Marc R. Potter, of Cary, survives.
A brief graveside service was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, at Raleigh Memorial Park. Inurnment followed.
The family received friends Wednesday evening, Dec. 28, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary.

Joseph Clarence Pleasants
Joseph Clarence Pleasants, 67, of 113 Strawbridge Court, Raleigh, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, at Rex Hospital. Mr. Pleasants was a native to Wake County and retired sales manager. He was past president of the Raleigh Civitan Club. He enjoyed golf and gospel music. Mr. Pleasants was a member of the Rawhide Club.
A funeral service was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, in the Chapel of Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. (N.C. 55), Apex. Burial followed in the Apex Cemetery.
He is survived by his brothers, Daniel Cliff Pleasants and wife, Marie of Apex, and B. Carlton Pleasants and wife, Dawn of Pennsylvania; and his special friend, Bybe Graham of Raleigh.
The family received friends Monday evening, Jan. 2, at Apex Funeral Home.

Mabel Irene Sessoms
Mabel Irene Sessoms, 93, of Apex died Friday morning, Dec. 30, 2005, at home. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who devoted her whole life to her family.
A service celebrating her life and homegoing was held on Monday, Jan. 2, at 2 p.m., in the Apex Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Edward Sessoms and the Rev. Millard Crumpler officiated. The family received friends before the service at the funeral home. Burial was in the Olive Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mabel was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fred Sessoms, in 1994. She is survived by her daughter, Ann S. Goodwin and her husband, Curtis Lee; granddaughter, Carol Ann Scarth; and great-grandson, William Lee Scarth, all of Apex.
Marguerite Hays Davis
Marguerite Hays Davis, 91, resident of Morrisville since 1954, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006.
A funeral service was held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, in Apex Funeral Home Chapel, 550 W. Williams St. (N.C. 55), Apex. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her daughter, Patsy Waller of Swansboro; son, Jerry Davis of Greensboro; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Davis; and sons, Ted and Fred Davis.
The family received friends prior to the service.
Angela Echavarria
Mrs. Angela Echavarria, 51, passed away on Jan. 10, 2006. She was born in Newburgh, N.Y., on Nov. 19, 1954. She lived much of her life in New York and moved to Cary in 1996.
Angela worked as a homemaker and volunteered at her sons' schools. Angela enjoyed decorative painting, which she learned while living in Cary. Her strength and grace were inspirational to all of her friends and family.
Angela is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Miguel, and sons, Michael and Gregory. She is also survived by her mother, Dolores Martello of Cary; her sisters, JeanMarie Martello and JoAnn Perrone of New York; and many adoring family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Vincent A. Martello, formerly of White Plains, N.Y., in 1988.
A funeral mass and celebration of Angela's life was held on Friday, Jan. 13, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 804 High House Road, Cary. Following the service, she was laid to rest at Wake Memorial Park in Cary.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary.

Ernest Baker Howell
Ernest Baker Howell, 81, of 1924 N.C. 55 West, Apex, died Sunday morning, Jan. 15, 2006, at home. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army, and a World War II veteran. He retired from Lufkin Rule Co. with 20 years of service. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
A service celebrating his life and home going was held on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 2 p.m. in the Apex Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Lalon Barnes and Tommy Smith will officiate the services. Burial will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley P. Howell; five sons, Ernest B. Howell Jr., and Kenneth A. Howell, both of the home, Timothy D. Howell and wife Donna of Apex, Jerry N. Howell of Arizona and Marty R. Howell of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and a daughter, Cindy Gregg and husband Marion of Florence, S.C. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday Jan. 16, at the Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. (N.C. 55), Apex, and other times at the home.
Gregg Anthony Cole
Gregg Anthony Cole, 44, of Raleigh died Jan. 14, 2006.
Gregg was born on Oct. 7, 1961, in Gouverneur, N.Y. He attended Middletown schools in New York and entered the U.S. Army after graduation. He moved to Cary in 1987.
Surviving are his daughter, who was the light of his life, Marissa Elizabeth Cole, and Marissa's mother, Norma Bolton, both of Cary; his two stepchildren, Suzanne Bolton and Keith Bolton of Cary; his mother, Trudy Mele of Harrisville, N.Y.; his brothers, Charles E. Cole of Harrisville, N.Y., Christopher Cole of Stantonsburg, N.C., Tracy Cole of Rosendale, N.Y., Scott Cole of Potsdam, N.Y., Clifford Mele of Harrisville, N.Y., and Clifford Cole of Harrisville, N.Y.; his paternal grandmother, Alice Bacon Cole of Raleigh; his aunts, Delight Lee of Raleigh and Keitha Peabody of N.Y.; and his uncle, Clifford Deamer of N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gardner Cole; his maternal grandparents, John Edward Weaver, Virginia Weaver Deamer, and Clifford B. Deamer; his paternal grandfather, Maurice A. Cole; and maternal great-grandmother, Anna Luther.
A memorial service was held Tuesday evening, Jan. 17, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary. The family received friends immediately following the service.
Walter E. Byrnes
Walter E. Byrnes, 82 died on Feb. 17 at Wake Medical Center after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Byrnes was born July 9, 1926 in Kingston, NY to the late Harry S. Byrnes and Delia A Finerty Byrnes.
As an 18 year old he served his country during WWII with the Company C, 347 Infantry Regiment, 87th Division, 3rd Army, in the European Theater. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge and other medals. He was also awarded the Silver Cross of Conspicious Service by the Governor of the State of New York.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, Byrnes received his education in the New York University system and at Syracuse University. Walt was a Senior Engineering Manager at IBM's Production Development Laboratory in Endicott, NY and retired after 30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Mary Brown Byrnes, daughters: Patricia Mary Rutkowski and her husband Michael of Pittsburgh, PA, Kathleen Anne Furlani and her husband Robert of Fuquay Varina, Eileen Dorothy Byrnes Clute and her husband Michael of Cary; son William Walter Byrnes of Denver, CO; brother John J Byrnes of Sacramento, CA and grandchildren: Colleen, Michael and Jaclyn Rutkowski, Alex, Kelly, and Joshua Clute, and Matthew and Daniel Byrnes.
A mass will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Cary, NC Friday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Barbara Marie McKinney
Barbara Marie McKinney, born Oct. 17, 1950, in Rochester, NY and presently residing at 126 Manhattan Court, Cary passed from our world as we know it and gone to life ever after, on Thursday morning, Feb. 19. McKinney was best known as Barbie by her family and friends, because of her fun spirit, twinkle in her eye, passionate emotions and nurturing heart. Her life and home going will be celebrated, Tuesday, Feb. 24, beginning with a memorial service at 11 a.m. in the Apex Funeral Home Chapel. Immediately following, the family will be receiving friends at the Apex Funeral Home, at 550 West Williams Street (Hwy 55), Apex, NC 27502. McKinney was best known, appreciated and loved for her caring and giving heart. She was a woman of nurture, care and gentleness. She loved unconditionally and leaves her family with the greatest and most profound gift anyone could receive. Barbie, as she was known to many, has showed us by her example, tender touch and open heart how to love and neither expect nor require anything in return.
She is survived by her two children and their families - son Andrew John Kuhn and daughter-in-law Samantha Kuhn and their children Hayden, Austin and Skylar, and her daughter Jennifer Ann Hewitt and son-in-law James Hewitt and their four children Colby, Morgan, Olivia and Riley. Her grandchildren were the light of her heart and joy of her being. She treasured every moment with her family and created moments to be treasured. McKinney is also survived by her two sisters, Judy Lichtiger and Sandra Fazio, both residing in New York state.
