Christina Louise Rodgers
Christina Louise Rodgers, 11, of Apex died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at UNC Children's Hospital in Chapel Hill. Christina had graduated from Salem Elementary School. She was very friendly and outgoing, and was well-liked by everyone she knew. Christina is survived by her parents, Gary and Deborah Rodgers; sister, Paula Rodgers; and brother, Michael Rodgers, all of Apex; her maternal grandparents, Marvin and Paula Olson of Woodbridge, Va.; her paternal grandfather, Robert Rodgers of Lafayette Hills, Pa.; her aunts and uncles, Scott Olson and wife, Julia, Debbie Rodgers and husband, Paul Meyer, and Robert Rodgers and wife, Pattie; and her cousins. Christina is also survived by her "best friend, " her loving pet, Dakota.
Christina was preceded in death by her twin sister, Jessica Marie Rodgers, and paternal grandmother, Ann Rodgers.
The family received friends Saturday, June 4, from noon until 2 p.m. at Apex Funeral Home. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. in Apex Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Bob Bergland. Burial followed in Apex Cemetery.

Sandra Kerr Hudson
Sandra Kerr Hudson, 68, of Bedford, N.H., died May 30, 2005, in Manchester, N.H., after complications from injuries related to her accident and paralysis suffered in 1979.
Born in Syracuse, N.Y., in April 1937, she was the daughter of John Alexander and Kathryn (Ryan) Kerr.
She graduated from Cortland State Teachers College in New York and taught grades 2-6 in Syracuse and Camillus, N.Y., Virginia Beach, Va., and Sandy, Utah.
Ms. Hudson was a member of the New York State Teachers Association. She had been active in local music theaters in Syracuse, Virginia Beach, Sandy and Sparta, N.J.
The family includes her former husband, Phillip Hudson of Salt Lake City, Utah; a son, Brian Hudson of Sandy, Utah; a daughter, Kathryn Scovel of Cary; four grandchildren; a sister, Brenda Smith of Syracuse, N.Y.; a brother, John A. Kerr of Manchester, N.H.; and four nieces and three nephews.
There are no services planned at this time. Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, N.H., assisted the family with arrangements.

John Philip Hashagen
John Philip Hashagen, 63, of Cary died Friday, June 3, 2005, at Duke University Medical Center. Phil was born in 1941 in Overland Park, Kan., to Clarence Albert Hashagen and Eva Elizabeth Foster Hashagen. He retired from Merck Pharmaceuticals.
A memorial Mass will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 804 High House Road, Cary. The family will receive friends in the Parrish Center following the service.
Phil is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patricia Hashagen; daughter, Smithey Hashagen and husband, Ken Wilson of Cary; mother, Eva Hashagen; and brother, Bob Hashagen and wife, Michele, all of Shawnee, Kansas; and loving nieces and nephews. Phil was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Hashagen, in 1995, and by his brother, David Hashagen, in 2002. The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Crawford, Susan Blackwell, PA, and the nurses and staff of Duke Oncology.

Elma Gladys Maynard Wilkinson
Mrs. Elma Gladys Maynard Wilkinson, 89, died June 6, 2005.
Mrs. Wilkinson was born Dec. 5, 1915 in Raleigh near the N.C. State Fairgrounds. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Edgar Maynard and Bettie Ella Blake Maynard.
In 1927, her family moved to a farm where MacGregor Downs and MacGregor Village are now located. She attended Cary High School and graduated from Apex High School. She met William Broadus Wilkinson at Cary High School and they were married Dec. 24, 1936. She and her husband farmed together for many years in Apex before his death Dec. 2, 1959. After her husband's death Mrs. Wilkinson continued to live and work on the farm they owned, which was located where the Cary Auto Park and MacGregor West are now. She also worked at Pope's Variety ("The Dime Store") in Apex and at the Apex High School cafeteria. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church. Gladys was predeceased by her husband, William; her brothers, Clyde, Edgar and John Maynard; and her sisters, Audry and Foy Maynard, Estelle Brooks Lewis and Lina Stephens Murray.
She is survived by her daughters, Ella Marie Bukowick and her husband, Albin "Buck" of Titusville, Fla., and Harpswell, Maine, and Deborah Jean Hardee and husband, A. Craig of Apex; five grandchildren, Steven Bukowick and wife, Heidi Lemberg of Vero Beach, Fla., Donna Beckwith of Scarborough, Maine, Anna Bradley, William Hardee and Ashley Hardee of Apex; four great-grandchildren, Samantha and Alicia Beckwith, Sophia Bukowick and Abigail Bradley; sisters-in-law, Reba Herndon Wilkinson, Sarah Wilkinson Fryar, Ruth Goodwin Maynard of Apex and Charlotte Wilkinson Williams of Durham. There are several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends on Wednesday evening, June 8, at Apex Funeral Home. Services will be held at Apex Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, June 9, at 3 p.m. The Rev. Bruce Worley will preside. Burial will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bobby Gene Stocks
Bobby Gene Stocks, 62, died peacefully at his home Sunday, June 5, 2005, after surviving cancer for more than four years. His strength and determination, along with the endless support of his loving wife, allowed him to enjoy hunting, fishing, motorcycle touring, traveling and spending time with his family and close friends until only days before his death. He loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Carroll Gregory Stocks. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, R. Wayne Stocks and spouse Susan of Arlington, Va., J. Michael Stocks and spouse Shandra of Nashville, N.C., and Melonie Stocks St. John and spouse Brian of Raleigh. Bobby leaves behind seven much-loved grandchildren, Christopher, Sydney and Allison of Arlington, Va., Andrew and Lydia of Nashville, and Alex and Jordan of Raleigh. Other surviving family members are Diane, Jimmy, April and Michael Jackson, Tommy Howell, Pete Howell and Lois, Jerry, Vickie and Storm Gregory. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nannie Stocks Howell, and father-in-law, Clarence Ellis Gregory.
Bobby retired from N.C. State University after 20 years. He also worked at Warp Technologies Inc., and ran his own handyman business during retirement. He was an active member of the Friendship Hunting Club of Granville County, a lifetime member of the N.C. Wildlife Association and a member of the NRA.
Bobby was born Aug. 21, 1942 in Pitt County and his death cut short a rich life enjoyed with family and many friends. He never met a stranger and would give anyone the shirt off his back.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Ephesus Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
The family received friends Tuesday evening, June 7, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary.

James L. Sugg Jr.
James "Jim" Sugg Jr., 56, died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at WakeMed Raleigh Hospital due to complications of a stroke and kidney failure.
He was born Dec. 3, 1948 in Robinson County to the late James Lloyd Sugg Sr. and Dorothy C. Sugg of Fuquay-Varina.
Jim is survived by his sister, Martha Sugg Field of Fuquay-Varina, and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 10, at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at 10005 Lake Wheeler Road. The Rev. Horace Hamm will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Fuquay-Varina.
The family will receive friends tonight, Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sugg Funeral Home, 201 E. Academy St., Fuquay-Varina.

Lucy Cain Matthews
Lucy Cain Matthews, 94, of Apex went peacefully home with Jesus on Friday night, June 3, 2005, at WakeMed Cary Hospital. She was born Lucy Cain, daughter of Eugene and Annie Cain, and was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Her husband, Charlie, also preceded her in death. Lucy is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Matthews Fowler and husband, Jim of Apex; and five grandchildren, Kathy (Scott) Robinson, Don (Angie) Fowler, Ron (Shari) Fowler, Kim (Randy) Brodhead and Jim Fowler. She also was blessed with nine great-grandchildren, Amity and Scott Robinson, Christian, Micah and Nicholas Fowler, Austin, Whitley and Caleb Fowler and Aaron Brodhead.
Visitation was at Apex Funeral Home on Sunday evening, June 5, and other times at 214 S. Tunstall St. The funeral was Monday, June 6, at 2 p.m. at Apex Baptist Church. Burial was at the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Fuquay-Varina.
Lucy was a teacher in the Wake County Public School System for 42 years. She loved to sing, especially hymns and Christmas carols. She was very active in her church, especially the choir. All of her former students and friends were invited to attend the celebration of her life.
