Robert Belvin (Butch) Howard
Robert "Butch" Howard, beloved son and brother, died May 26, 2007 from cancer at home. He was 63. Robert was a member of Olive Chapel Baptist Church, 600 New Hill-Olive Chapel Road, Apex, NC 27502.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, H.A. "Red" Moser Sr.
He was especially loved by all who knew him because he was a happy person with a special humor, a person who was a comic relief for everyone whether things were good or bad. He will be missed by family and friends.
A graveside service was held at Montlawn Memorial Park, 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 30. The family received friends following the service at Montlawn.
Robert is survived by his mother, Ruth Howard Moser; sister, Dorothy Howard Cooper and husband, Donald Cooper; his nephews, Mike Cooper, Jerry Cooper and wife, Laura and their children, Jake and Jeanna, Neil Cooper and Katherine Wrenn; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Robert Alan Kravitz
Robert Alan Kravitz, 48, a resident of The Caswell Center in Kinston, died Saturday morning, June 2, 2007 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday June 5, at 4 p.m. in the Apex Cemetery. Prior to the graveside service, his family will receive friends from 2 until 3:30 p.m. at the Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. (N.C. 55) in Apex. The Rev. JoAnne Verburg will officiate.
Surviving are his father, Eli Kravitz of Cary; two sisters: Deborah K. Miller and her husband Jerry of Cary, and Patsy K. Popa and her husband Marin of Raleigh. Also surviving are a niece, Fran Moses, and two nephews: Jerry Miller Jr. and Ethan Loo.
The family gratefully acknowledges the love and care given to Robert by the staff of The Caswell Center in Kinston. Memorials may be made to the Covenant Christian Church Building Fund, 1142 E. Nonnie H. Womble McNeill
Nonnie H. Womble McNeill, 95, of Apex died Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Cary Parkway Retirement Home. She was born in 1911 to the late Wave and Tula Horton. Nonnie loved quilting and guitar picking and singing. Her love of cooking for family and friends was enjoyed for many years.
Nonnie is survived by her daughter, Mary Louise W. Holt and son-in-law, Howard; four grandchildren, Cynthia Griner and husband, Billy of Middlesex, Judy Wetherington of Morehead City, LuAnn W. Bell and husband, Ronnie of Durham, and Danny Womble and wife, Crystal of Creedmoor; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Virgil Horton and wife, Rachel of Danville, Va.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert L. Womble and second husband, James F. McNeill; son, Bobby L. Womble; sisters, May Horton, Sudie Raymond and Wilma Dick; and brother Thomas Horton.
Funeral service will be held Friday, May 11, at 11 a.m. in the Apex Funeral Home Chapel, 550 W. Williams St. (N.C. 55), Apex. Burial will follow in Green Level Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Apex Funeral Home.

Dorothy Imogene Ray
Dorothy Imogene Ray, age 68, died on Monday, July 16, 2007 at Rex Healthcare in Raleigh.
A native of Wake County, she was born to the late Drewry E. and Mamie Pulley Ray. Imogene was a loving wife as well as a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was educated in the Cary School System. After 36 years of service, she retired from Corning Glass.
Surviving are her loving husband, Glenn Ray of Cary; sons and daughter-in-law, Tim Ray of Apex, Ken and Renee Ray of Fuquay Varina. Also surviving are three sisters - Carolyn Morris, Leone Sorrell, Eula Mae Clark and two grandsons - Daniel and Zachary Ray.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 19 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh. Interment will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18 at the funeral home.

Lawrence Wayne Brougham
Lawrence W. “Larry” Brougham, 62, of 503 N. Chatham St., Apex, died Wednesday July 11 at his home.
Larry was in the construction business for many years, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. His unique style of wit and humor, as well as his willingness to help someone in need will be missed by his many friends and associates.
He is survived by two sons: William C. Brougham & his wife Maureen, and Joseph W. Brougham, both of Apex; two daughters: Catherine B. Stroup & her husband James of Apex, and Leah C. Brougham of Clayton. Also surviving are his mother, Loretta Brougham of Bayville, NJ, two brothers: Thomas Brougham of Bayville, NJ, and James Brougham of Glen Gardner, NJ, and three grandchildren: Lauren Stroup, Case Stroup, and Thomas Davis.
His family received friends July 18 at the Apex Funeral Home prior to the funeral at the Apex Funeral Home Chapel. He will be interred in the Hillside Cemetery in Plainfield, NJ at a later date beside his beloved wife Viola Kijewski Brougham.

Kyle James Byrd
Kyle James Byrd, 14, of Apex died Saturday, June 23, 2007 due to an auto wreck on I-95 in Cumberland Co.
Kyle was an honor student at Apex Middle School. He also attended Salem Baptist church where he was involved with the youth group and puppet ministry. His other interests were soccer, baseball, hockey, football and basketball but his true love was music. Kyle was a true community servant as he volunteered in many areas including being a Jaycee in training and a T-ball coach. He had a great sense of humor, was a great entertainer and clown among his peers in school and youth group. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Kyle is survived by his parents James E. Byrd, Jr. and Karen Byrd of Apex; one younger sister, Krysta Byrd; paternal grandmother, Marian Byrd and stepgrandfather, Connie Jones of Apex; maternal grandparents, Tom and Vicky Herring of Fuquay-Varina; maternal great grandmother, Evelyn Wiggins of Raeford; preceded in death by a special grandpapa, James E. Byrd Sr.
The funeral service was at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at Salem Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Jeff Beckett.
Frances H. Craig
Frances H. Craig, 81, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007. She was born July 25, 1925 in Preston County, W.Va. to Aldridge and Frances Harvey.
Mrs. Craig is survived by her son, Rob Craig and wife, Mickey of Cary; daughter, Carol Rich and husband, David of Comfort, Texas; and grandchildren, Tyler, Matt, Renee, and Robin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Craig Sr.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary. The family will receive friends following the service.

Ethel S. Gifford
Ethel S. Gifford Ethel S Gifford went to be with the Lord Friday, June 22, 2007.
She was born in Lyons, N.Y. May 13, 1922 to Oscar Schoen and Edna Shuler Schoen.
Ethel taught China painting for a number of years, was President of the China Painting Guild for several years and had one of her pieces displayed in the World China Painting Museum in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Ethel enjoyed being involved in church activities, walking with the “Walkers”, traveling, and being with family. There are memories of much laughter, for Ethel liked to have fun. Ethel is survived by her brother and wife, Robert and Lee Schoen; and her sister and husband, Mabel and Murray Pulver; by her son, William Buisch; her daughters, Lyn Schuck; Grace Ardieta and husband Jack; and Sarah Brem and husband Steve. Also by grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many who call her family and friend. She lived in Morrisville. A memorial service was held Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 600 Walnut St. in Cary, NC. Pastor Thomas E. Nelson led the service.
