Howard Joseph Leighton
Howard Joseph Leighton, 77, of Apex died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at his home surrounded by his family. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Leighton was employed with Tran World Airline for 30 years as a Flight Engineer.
Leighton is survived by his wife Sally Colbert Leighton along with daughter Deborah Postlethwait and her husband David of Raleigh, daughter Barbara Carlson and her husband Charles of Old Lyme, Ct, and daugther Pamela Maloney and her husband William of Cary. He is also survived by grandchildren Kerry Scholz, Peter Scholz, Andrew Scholz, Sarah Carlson, Erik Carlson and Shannon Maloney.
Leighton will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
The family received friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, at Apex Funeral Home. A funeral service followed in the Chapel of Apex Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Burial was at Wake Memorial Gardens with military honors.

Jessica Leigh Johnson
Jessica Leigh Johnson, 20, of Apex, died on Sunday, August 26, 2007. Daughter of Steven Lee Johnson and Sarah Batchelor Jones, she was born on January 19, 1987.
She is survived by her mother Sarah B. Jones and stepfather George (Tony) Jones of Apex; a daughter, Autumn Lynn Sehulster; a brother, Charles Johnson of Apex; her step grandfather, Harold Wagner and his wife, Rebecca of Wytheville, VA; her grandparents, Charles and Linda Batchelor of Apex; paternal grandmother, Carol Lee Johnson of Durham; her great grandmothers Rachel Hatley of Pittsboro, Betty Wagner of Pittsboro and Lottie Overton of Cary.
She is also survived by uncles, Eddie Batchelor and wife, Jonnie of Siler City, Andy Jones and wife, Machelle of Pittsboro, Greg Jones of Wytheville, VA; Scottie Ray Johnson and wife, Debbie of Durham, David Carol Johnson and wife, Tanya of Durham; aunts, Donna Jones of Wytheville, VA and Dusti Jones of Wytheville, VA. Also many Great Aunts, Great Uncles & Great Cousins
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. (Hwy 55), Apex.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, in the Chapel of Apex Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Apex Cemetery.
Evelyn Rose Ramey
Evelyn Rose Ramey, age 84, died on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007 at her home with her family close by.
A native of Johnston County, she was born on Dec. 30, 1922 to the late Needham Henry and Drucilla Broadwell Rose. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband Kenneth Franklin Ramey, her stepfather Charles B. Upchurch and her sister Betty Lou Batten. Surviving are her children John L. Ramey and his wife Susan of Fuquay-Varina, Druscilla Ramey Simpson and her husband Kenrick of Holly Springs, and Joseph C. Ramey of Raleigh. Also surviving are brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Charlene Rose of Conway, SC; grandchildren Tanya Eaton, Thomas and Lillian Simpson, Jessica Lo and Clara Ramey and great-grandchildren James Glenn, Stormie and Derek Eaton.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, at Cary Presbyterian Church, 614 Griffis Street, Cary. Dr. Kyle Allen will officiate. Interment will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.

Jason Daniel Sehulster
Jason Daniel Sehulster, 34, of 132 Evening Star Dr., Apex, died Sunday Aug. 26, 2007. He was employed with the F&R; Engineering firm of Raleigh.
Jason is survived by his wife Ann Phillips Sehulster; four children: Kristal Smith, Grey Sehulster, Autumn Sehulster and Jack Sehulster, all of the home; his mother Candy Faye Miles of Pittsboro; his father Donald C. Sehulster of Arizona; a brother Joshua Sehulster of Fuquay-Varina; his grandparents Gloria & Andrew Walsh of Monks Corner, SC; his aunt Bonnie Walsh of Pittsboro and her son; and his uncle Fred Clute and his family of Charleston, SC.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday August 31st in the Apex Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rick Washington will officiate. Burial will be in the Apex Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m., preceding the funeral service at the Apex Funeral Home on Friday.
Lawrence Michael Holland
Lawrence Michael Holland of Cary, formerly of Warners, Monroe, and Cazenovia, N.Y., died peacefully at his home on July 21, 2007. He was born on Dec. 24, 1933 in Rockville Center, N.Y.
He was the son of the late Joan Barrett Holland (Kay Russell of WSYR radio and television’s Ladies Day, in Syracuse, N.Y. from 1952 to 1977), and the late Lawrence Michael McQuade. He was the step-son of the late Henry S. Holland.
Holland grew up in New York, graduating from Camillus High School, Camillus, N.Y. in 1951. He attended Cornell University prior to enlisting in the US Navy, serving in the Pacific as a radarman onboard the USS Waldron. After returning from service, he enrolled at LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y., graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
Holland worked as a computer programmer, systems analyst, consultant and teacher. He started with IBM in NYC, and held positions with Control Data Corporation, The Institute for Advanced Technology, Software Implementation, Prodigy, Chatham Garret, Telecris Biopharmaceuticals and NCSU. He recently completed a three-year project with the North Carolina State University’s Center for Applied Aquatic Ecology.
He was an avid bird watcher, and enjoyed many domestic and international trips to see rare and exotic birds. He built and collected brass and wooden HO gauge model trains. There was always a book or two that Larry was reading. He loved science fiction, most recently reading The Last Colony by John Scalzi, and kept up with a number of nature and technology periodicals. Holland is survived by his children with Ann Holland of Ossining, N.Y. - Teresa Ivory of Berryville, Va., William G. (and wife, Susan) of Cary, Andrea L. (and husband, L. Jean Grunewald) of New Windsor, N.Y., - and a child with Mary N.B. Holmes (deceased) - Michael P.J. Holland of Cary. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Wendy, Sean, and Erin Jessup of Berryville, Va.; Steven and Samuel Holland of Cary; Cailin, Luke, and Zane Grunewald of New Windsor, N.Y.; and two great grandchildren: Jessica Jessup and Astrid Kaczmarzewski of Berryville, Va.
In addition to Michael’s mother, he was predeceased by his sister Susan Holland and brother Harry S. Holland.
A memorial service will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Cary.
Curt Levengood
Curt Levengood, 63, died Aug. 1, 2007. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Charles and Mary Alice Levengood. He enjoyed a long career with IBM working on a variety of projects.
Levengood is survived by his wife Marti Levengood of Cary; his daughter Christy Levengood of Cary; sisters Pat Levengood of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and Penny Mikesh of Fort Myers, Fla.; and mother-in-law Georgia Jones.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Scott Levengood.
A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Monday evening, Aug. 6, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary. The family will receive friends at the funeral home before the service from 6-7 p.m.

Seth Anderson Marshburn
Seth Marshburn was born March 3, 1978 in Chillicothe, Ohio to parents Errol O. and Kelty Marshburn.
Marshburn was the son of a retired golf professional. He was one of the top junior golfers in the southeast. One year he won 13 championship titles. Marshburn turned professional and won his second professional tournament shooting a course record 66 at Mt. Harbour CC in Hayesville. He went on to be a stand-out player in the Carolinas PGA Section, winning multiple Pro-Am events and placing high in section majors. He played one year on the NGA Hooter’s Professional Golf Tournament.
In 2004, Marshburn left the golf profession to start Apex Pallet Company, where he served as president and owner. Through countless hours and determination, He grew the business by leaps and bounds. His work ethic was second to none. Marshburn loved working his business and he loved life. He epitomized the phrase, self-made man.
Marshburn passed away tragically on Aug. 2, 2007, in a forklift accident at his company. Seth’s passing will be greatly mourned by family, friends, business colleagues and the community.
He is survived by his parents Errol and Kelty Marshburn of Apex; his brother Bryan P. Marshburn and sister-in-law, Michelle Marshburn of Cary; his son Jacob Stout of Winston-Salem; and his niece Sara Katherine Marshburn. He is also survived by his girlfriend Shannon DeLabio, and her son Christian; his aunt Sherlyn Kistner of Millbrae, CA; his uncle and aunt William and Sue Anderson of Chillicothe, OH, as well as several cousins.
The family received friends Sunday, Aug. 5, at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. (Hwy 55), Apex.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 6, in the Chapel of Apex Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Apex Cemetery.
Steve Bolejack
Mr. Robert Stephen “Steve” Bolejack, 67, of Pittsboro, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2007.
Steve was born June 6, 1940 in Guilford County, the son of Robert Pierce and Ruby Martha Causey Bolejack.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a retired manufacturer’s representative in the tool-and-dye industry.
Steve was an avid hunter and golfer.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie G. Bolejack of Cary; sons, Douglas S. Bolejack of Raleigh, Stephen Stroud and wife Sue of Pennsylvania; daughter, Crissie Goldston and husband Chad of Willow Spring; his companion, Jackie Williams of Pittsboro; brother, Don Bolejack and wife Peggy of Pittsboro; sister, Cathy Cash and husband Shorty of Sanford; grandchildren, Courtney Goldston, Spenser and Nick Stroud; stepgrandchildren, Michael and Tony Ronca; and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9 at Pittsboro United Methodist Church, the Revs. Claire McKeown and Lee Edwards presiding.
