Lauretta Eleanor Larkin
Lauretta Eleanor Larkin, 76, of Cary died Oct 25, 2007 at Wake Med Raleigh. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29 in the Apex Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will be in St. Matthew's Catholic Church Cemetery, Durham.
She is survived by her husband William Larkin Jr.; her daughter Alice Louise Williams of Middlesex; and three grandchildren.

Stanley James Gatlin
Stanley James Gatlin, 63, of Cary, NC passed away on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007 at WakeMed Hospital in Cary after a courageous battle with cancer. Stanley was born Sept. 29, 1944 in Hutchinson, KS, to the late Benjamin "Hugh" and Ruth V. Gatlin. Stanley is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary K. of Cary; son Joseph (Jocelyn) and granddaughters Jade and Jennavieve of Cumberland, RI; daughter Katherine of Raleigh; brother Donald (Marty) of Palmdale, CA; and many other loving family members and friends. Memorial service will be Nov. 3 in St. Marks, KS. In lieu of flowers, contributions and condolences may be made in the name of Stanley James Gatlin to the American Cancer Society via his mosaic of memory wall at www.cancer.org. Those who knew Stan loved him, and those who met him never forgot him.
Charles R. Beale
Charles R. Beale passed away Monday Nov. 12, 2007 at WakeMed Raleigh. He was born in Franklin County on March 9, 1930, the son of the late Charles and Ressie Allen Beale.
He graduated from Youngsville High School and Wake Forest College. He served his country in the US Army from 1956 to 1958. He retired after 41 years from Rex Hospital where he worked as Director of Finance.
Charles was a devoted member of Forest Hills Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was an active member of the Raleigh Civitan Club where he was past president and currently served as chaplain.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years Joyce Jones Beale, his sons Roger Beale of Apex and Kevin Beale of Taylorsville and their wives Raygina and Crystal. He has three grandchildren whom he loved - Grace, Asa and Hannah Beale.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Allen Vernon Beale.
The visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 15 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the parlor at Forest Hills Baptist Church, 201 Dixie Trail, Raleigh with the funeral beginning at 2 p.m. The burial will follow in the Apex Cemetery.

Elizabeth Leona Riggsbee
Elizabeth Leona Baker Riggsbee, 79, of Carpenter Upchurch Rd, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007. She was at home surrounded by her loving family. Riggsbee had been employed with Cooper Tools, Inc. She was a faithful member of Green Level Baptist Church where a funeral service will be held Friday, 11 a.m. Nov. 16, conducted by Rev. Richard Leader. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Riggsbee is survived by her husband Harold B. Riggsbee, her daughter Vickie R. Goodwin of Chapel Hill, her son Kenneth A Duke and his wife Dianne of Apex, her son Steve Riggsbee and his wife Sylvia of Durham, and Randy Riggsbee of Cary; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She joins her son Tony Duke and grandson Dwayne Duke in Heaven.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. (Hwy 55), Apex.

Ruby Mae Squires
Ruby Mae Squires, 97, of 415 Second St., Apex, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 at Wake Medical Center in Cary. She was a native of Laurinburg. She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey M. Squires Sr., by daughters, Virginia Healy and Mae Stowell, and by a son, Harvey M. Squires, Jr.
A graveside service will be held on Monday Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. in Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh. Rev. Steve Gordon will officiate.
Surviving are her daughter, Marie Brown & her husband Woody of Ellicott City, MD; her son, Joe Squires & his wife Carolyn of Clayton; her sister, Stella Quinn of Fuquay-Varina; 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and son-in-law John Healy of Apex.
The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday Nov. 18 at the Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. (Hwy. 55) in Apex, and other times at the home of Tom & Judy Taylor, 415 Second St., Apex.
William Joseph Fredere
William Joseph (Bill) Fredere, 59, died on Sunday, September 16, 2007 in Morrisville.
A native of New Hanover County, he was born on March 30, 1948 to the late Joseph and Mary Hewett Fredere. Fredere served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps on active duty from 1966-1970. During the years of 1980-1998, he served in the Raleigh reserves unit. A Purple Heart was awarded to Fredere for wounds suffered in the Vietnam War.
Additionally, Fredere was an Operation Desert Shield/Storm veteran and retired from the Marine Corps Reserves with a ranking of Gunnery Sergeant. Fredere was a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, where he received a bachelor degree in Philosophy. For many years he worked for Seaboard Railroad as a brakeman. Most recently, he was employed with Sam’s Club in Cary where he made many, many friends. In his free time he enjoyed long distance running and, later, cycling.
Surviving are his cousin, David P. Fredere of Cary; siblings, Jamie, Calvin, Joe Jr., Pauline, Helen and Johnnie; aunt, Mildred Fredere of Wilmington; his extended Marine Corps family; and beloved Sam’s Club colleagues.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary. The Reverend Charlie Staley will officiate. Military honors will follow.
Friends and family will gather immediately following the memorial service at the funeral home on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, please consider aiding those in your own community who are in need.

Mr. Harward is survived by his wife Lillie Wrenn Harward of the home; daughters Brenda Harward of Apex, Henrietta Cummings and her husband, Rick of Randolph Co., Herbie Jean Grout of Winston-Salem, and Lillie Delott and her husband Greg of Raleigh; son Lloyd Harward of Raleigh; eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Bobby Joe Coats
Bobby Joe Coats, 70, of 4828 Old US 1 Hwy, died suddenly at his home on Oct. 25, 2007. He was born in Angier on Sept 5, 1937.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Prince Coats; his sons Bobby Joe Coats Jr. and Brian Keith Coats of Dinwiddie, VA, Gilbert Lee Coats of Fort Mill, SC, Gregory Coats of Cary; his daughter Dana Wein of CA; his brother Jimmy Coats of Surf City; and his sister Carolyn Elkins of Roy. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and his beloved pets.

Joanne V. Cochrane
Joanne V. Cochrane passed away on Nov. 1, 2007 at St. Clare Manor. She was 78.
A native of Wyoming, Ohio, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater and Speech from the College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio. She lived in Seattle, WA, New Orleans, LA, and Cary before settling in Baton Rouge.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy A. Martin of Mandeville; her sons, James D. Steiner of Columbus WI; William C. Steiner of New Orleans; Christopher J. Steiner and wife Nancy of Baton Rouge; and granddaughters Elizabeth C. Steiner and Rebecca A. Martin. Also she is survived by her brother John D. Cochrane III and his wife Marie, of Ann Arbor, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Dewar Cochrane Jr. and Frances Earl Van Arsdale.
A memorial service is to be held on Monday, Nov. 19 from 2-4 p.m., at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Baton Rouge, LA, 70802.
Bobby Lee Stone
Bobby Lee Stone, 77, of Hillsboro St., died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 in Rex Hospital, Raleigh. He was born in New Hill to Cuyler Stone and Vera Dickens Stone on Feb. 25, 1930. Stone was retired from CSX as a Railroad Signalman. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23 in the Apex Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Christian Chapel Christian Church Cemetery with Military Honors.
He is survived by his wife Olive A. Stone, his daughter Brenda Batchelor and her husband Jerry of Cary, his daughter Bonita Stone Billetter and her husband William of Cary, her brother Harold Stone of Bremerton, WA, her brother Layton Stone and his wife Sherrie of Bremerton, WA, his brother Odell Stone and his wife Marie of Tallahassee, FL, his brother Donald Stone of New Hill and four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He joins his brother Kenneth and sister Annette in heaven, Kenneth Stone. The family will receive friends 12:00 to 1:00 PM Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
