Arthur Thomas Moore
Arthur Thomas (Tom) Moore entered into eternal rest Feb. 1, 2008. He was born Sept. 28, 1921 in Apex, to Simmie L. Moore and Caroline Churchill Moore and was one of eight children.
Moore attended Apex High School, graduated from Palmer College, Charleston Southern University, University of South Carolina, and University of Louisville South Eastern Police Institute.
Moore was a World War II Veteran and Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from the United States Navy, City of Charleston police Department and Citizens and Southern Bank. He was an avid gardener and baker.
Predeceased by first wife of 50 years, Bridget Adamaitis, and survived by their son Thomas F. Moore and his wife Sandra, son Frankie C. Moore, grandchildren Samantha A. Moore, Brian T. Moore and his wife Jessica, Katie M. Moore and Daniel Carson, and niece Bernadette Branch.
Married to Virginia Hallex Moore and survived by her children Lenny Smoak, Chuck and Wendy Isaacson, and Angela Davison, grandchild Anthony Thomson, grandchild Kelsi Isaacson and brother Sydney M. Moore of Milledgeville, GA.
Funeral service at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3 at the First Baptist Church of Ravenel, 5987 Highway 165, Ravenel, SC with visitation immediately following the service. Interment at 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4 at Salem Baptist Church, Apex.

Stephen Frank Monteverdi
Stephen Frank Monteverdi, 87, died peacefully on May 12, 2008.
Born Dec. 26, 1920 to Anthony and Severina Monteverdi in Brooklyn NY, where he resided for the first 39 years of his life, Monteverdi then lived in Deer Park, NY for the next 39 years, before moving to North Carolina.
Monteverdi served his country in the U.S. Army on active duty during WWII, subsequently returning to a career with the U.S. Postal Service that endured for four decades. He worked diligently to provide for his family throughout his life, enjoyed watching and playing baseball, was a loving and devoted father and husband, as well as a dedicated friend always willing to lend a hand and his inherent mechanical ingenuity to anyone in need.
Monteverdi is survived by Frances, his beloved wife of 62 years, his son Charles Monteverdi and his wife Loretta of White Plains, NY, along with son Robert Monteverdi and his wife Rachel of Holly Springs. He was also the loving grandfather of Steven, Vivian, Tommy, Robert, Laura, Joseph, Katheryne, Michelle, Sarah and Christopher, uncle to many loving nieces and nephews, and great-grandfather to Taihang.
In addition, he was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph “Duke” Monteverdi and Charlie Monteverdi, daughter Jeannie, and beloved pet dog Dino.
A private service will be held for family and friends at Capital Funeral Home 2205 E. Millbrook Rd in Raleigh on Wednesday, May 14 from 2 - 5 p.m. with interment to follow in the future at Pinelawn National Cemetery in Long Island NY. May he rest with the angels in the presence of the Lord.
The family would like to express their special thanks to Dr. David Adams and Dr. Pratik Desai of Cary, their staff, Wake Med, United Hospice and the numerous caregivers, volunteers, friends and neighbors for their above and beyond care, friendship and compassion during their father’s illness.

Kamryn Anne Bailey
Kamryn Anne Bailey, 6, passed away late Friday evening, June 20, 2008. She was born Feb. 26, 2002.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8.
Kamryn was a beautiful young lady who loved everyone she met. She was actively involved with Carolina Dance Center and cheerleading for the Carolina Copperheads. Kamryn was our little princess and the world was her stage. She will always be remembered for her singing, dancing, princess lunches, catching fireflies, and always having a beautiful smile. She was a sassy diva who enjoyed accessorizing with her big sunglasses and flashy jewelry. She truly cared about the world and talked of being a veterinarian when she grew up. Kamryn was a special girl who always brought love and happiness into everyone’s life.
Kamryn is survived by her mother and father, Sherry Bailey and John C. Bailey of Cary; sisters Karsyn and Kathryn; brother Kyler; paternal grandparents, Anne and Paul Bailey; maternal grandfather, Obie Ballard and step-grandmother, Susan Ballard, maternal grandmother, Sharon Barrow (Jim); great-grandparents, Carson and Vada McDaniel, great-grandmother, Ellen Virginia Day, great-grandfather, William Kellerhals; great-aunts, Diane McDaniel and Carol Andrews; Aunt Angela Bailey (John Evans), Uncles Jason (Annalynn) and Ryan (Lacy) Bailey, Uncle Jeff Ballard (Danielle); several cousins and other family members.
Funeral services were held June 24 at Crosspointe Church, 6911 Carpenter Fire Station Rd, Morrisville, NC. Burial followed at Wake Memorial Park, Cary.

John Grant Chapman
John Grant Chapman of Cary died on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008 at Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center of Apex.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Frances Safrit Chapman, their son John Floyd and his wife Cecelia of Holly Springs, grandchild John August and his wife Elizabeth of Apex. and great grandsons John Joseph and James August.
Born in Bay City, Michigan, John was the youngest child of the late William and Elizabeth Chapman. He was preceded in death by his brother Lewis Chapman and his two sisters Ruth McClintock and Frances Foster.
A graduate of UCLA in 1941 and having served as 1st Lieutenant in the US Coast Guard stationed at Pearl Harbor during WWII, Chapman led a successful life as a business man, a musician, owner of his own business, and a family man committed to his beautiful wife, as her caretaker in his later years.
Ranked No. 4 on the West Coast as a tennis player in the late 1930s, Chapman's passion for tennis continued throughout his life. He also enjoyed tending to roses, having “a gala, ” and singing. He will be missed and forever remembered as “Bumdaddy.”
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Rd., Cary, on Friday, Feb. 29.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 1 at the First United Methodist Church in Cary. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.

Allison Douglass Allison
Allison Douglass Allison, 94, died on July 10, 2008. Son of the Horatio Wood Allison and Hazel Ives Douglass Allison, Mr. Allison was born April 9, 1914 in Brooklyn, NY. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, the former Anne Randolph Person of Littleton, infant son Francis Randolph Allison, and sister Sara "Sally" Allison Stump of Clinton, SC.
Allison, who went by Doug, grew up in Pine Bluff, NC, attended Mt. Hermon Preparatory School in Massachusetts and was graduated from NC State College with a degree in Textile Manufacturing. While at NC State, he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity, the NC State Glee Club and the State College Quartet.
He was first employed by Carolina Power and Light Company in Waterville and the Tillery Hydroelectric Station near Mt. Gilead, NC. Upon completion of college, he was employed by Harriet and Henderson Mills Corp. in Henderson, NC, and dearing Milliken in Hartsville, SC, before becoming personnel director of United Mills in Mt. Gilead. From 1957 to 1960, he proved his talents as Industrial Engineer for Lincoln County and from 1960 to 1980 served as an Industrial Developer for the Commerce and Industry Div. of the NC Dept. of Commerce.
Allison was a member of the NC Industrial Developers Association and was recognized several times for his accomplishments locating industries in NC. In 2006, he was honored when a distinguished professorship in the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department of NC State University was named for him.
Among his fond memories were his years in Lions Club, as Boy Scout Leader, and in the choir in Mt. Gilead. He treasured his years as a member of Highland United Methodist Church of Raleigh, where he sang tenor in the choir.
Doug and Anne Allison created a loving home where friends and relatives gathered often for celebrations and fun. He was known for his love of singing, his ever-present gentlemanly manners, his woodworking skills (and accidents), his pride in his job and family, and his incredible sense of humor. His puns and silly stories, many about himself, added laughter to the world.
In 1993, the Allisons joined Glenaire Presbyterian Retirement Community in Cary and spent their last 15 years surrounded by proficient, caring staff members and loving friends.
Surviving are his son Allison Douglass Allison II and his wife Frankie Allison of Clayton, his daughter Adra Allison Kennedy and her husband Patrick Kennedy of Washington, NC, grandchildren Darien Allison Ball and Fred Ball of Cypress, TX, grandchildren Rachel Allison Marquardt and Troy Marquardt of Reidsville, grandchildren Brian G. Bader and Amanda Bader of Meadow, and grandchildren Cameron Bader Weber and Brett Weber of Charlotte. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Trey Marquardt; Carson, Briggs and Bowen Weber; Fred and Shelby Ball; and John Bader.
A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 18 at Glenaire Presbyterian Retirement Community at 200 W. Cornwall Rd. in Cary.
A reception will follow. Burial service will be held before at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Littleton at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Glenaire Foundation at Glenaire Presbyterian Community in Cary or to Highland United Methodist Church in Raleigh.
