George Monroe Beavers Jr.
George Monroe Beavers Jr. of Apex passed away early Tuesday morning, March 4, 2008. He was born to George Monroe Beavers Sr. and Daisy Olive Beavers on Oct. 24, 1911 in Wake County. He was married for 43 years to Wilba Mills Beavers who preceded him in death in 1984. Beavers was also preceded in death by his siblings James, David, Charles, Janie, Lydia and Alice.
He leaves to cherish his memory his four children and their spouses: Susan Beavers and Randy Thomas, Carl and Leigh Beavers, Wayne and Brenda Beavers, Paul and Jean Beavers. He also leaves behind 10 grandsons, two granddaughters, two great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters with another great-grandson and great-granddaughter due this summer. He is also survived by his brothers Johnny, Bill and Frank Beavers.
Papa, as he was affectionately called by his loving family, graduated with a mathematics major from Wake Forest College. He spent four years serving our country in the United States Marines. He was a member of Green Level Baptist Church for 86 years following his baptism in 1921. Beavers spent his life farming the land he grew up on in the Green Level community. He was a quiet man who loved deeply and truly lived by the Golden Rule in his dealings with everyone he met. He will be truly missed by all who were blessed enough to know him.
A celebration of his life was held on March 9 at Green Level Baptist Church. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.

Naomi "Teeny" Wray Churchill, age 79, of Raleigh passed away Friday, Feb. 29, 2008. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 4 in the Olive Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements are with Apex Funder Directors Inc.

Myrtle Ester Ronk, 66, passed away at home in Apex on Feb. 18, 2008.

Shirley Ann Pattishall
Shirley Ann Pattishall, 70, of 802 Chickadee Ln., in Apex, went to be with her savior Jan. 23, 2008 following extended declining health. She was born in Durham County to Dewey Pattishall and Emma Sears Pattishall. She was a member of the Morrisville Baptist Church and retired from Belk’s Capital Room in Crabtree Mall with 28 years of service in 2002. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. in the Apex Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by her sister Dutch A. Mendenhall of the home, her niece Mary J. Mendenhall of the home, nephew David W. Mendenhall and his wife Sherry of Burlington, nephew Allan Pattishall and his wife Lynn of Prospect Hills, five grandnephews and one grandniece.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24 at the Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. (Hwy. 55) in Apex. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St. Mary’s St., Raleigh, NC 27605.
Mamie Jennette Whittington
Mamie Jennette Whittington, age 86, died Sunday at Independence Village. Graveside funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Raleigh Memorial Park. Officiating will be Dr. Larry Harper and Rev. Don Price.
Whittington was born July 17, 1921, in Wake County to the late Hubert Bryan and Lucy Wilkerson Jennette. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph E. Whittington, son James E. Whittington, and sisters Marie Russell, Irene Faulkner and Lucille Weathers. She was a homemaker and a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church in Raleigh.
Surviving are daughter Linda and her husband R. H. Cox of Cary; twin sister Mildred Grosse of Enterprise, AL, and grandchildren Michael Cox of Raleigh, Jennifer Cox of Cary, Jeff Walker of Greenville, Sherry Hagymas pf Londonderry, NH, and James E. Whittington Jr. of Youngsville along with seven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to one’s favorite charity. Arrangements by Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson.

Celeste Rye Peterson
Celeste Rye Peterson, infant daughter of Gabriel and Juin Peterson, died suddenly on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008.
Along with her parents, Celeste is survived by her parental grandparents Karen Peterson of Hillsborough and Warren Wood of Mississippi, maternal grandparents Jesus and Dorothy Monserate of Brentwood, CA, and her aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family received friends on Sunday, Jan. 27 at Apex Funeral Home. There was a funeral service and then a burial in Apex Cemetery.
Patricia Sue Mills
Patricia Sue Mills, 64, of 9400 Penny Road, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2008. She was born on Nov. 20, 1943 in Wake County to Wilbur David Dickens and Estelle Atkins.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia Patterson and her husband William E. III of Kannapolis, her daughter Vonda I. Clark and her husband Robert of Raleigh, her son John K. Mills, Jr. and his wife Jan of Clayton and grandchildren Graham, Gretchen, Laura, Megan and Samantha. She is also survived by her adopted grandson Brandon Sandburg. She leaves behind three special pets: Zack, Sebastian and Tuffy.
She is preceded in death by her parents Wilbur D. Dickens Sr. and Estelle Atkins Dickens.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 3 from 2-3 p.m. at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. (Hwy 55), Apex.
A celebration of her life will begin at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Apex Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Swift Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Elizabeth Parsons Jinks
Elizabeth "Liz" Parsons Jinks, age 67, died on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at Universal Healthcare in Raleigh.
Parsons was born on Oct 18, 1940 in Elmhurst, NY, daughter of the late Emma Janicki and George W. Parsons Sr. She was a 1958 graduate of Ridgewood High School, NJ. In 1962, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY and a Master of Arts in English from Columbia University in 1968.
Parsons was very interested in working with the neurologically challenged. Her life was a study in overcoming; she was a dyslexic English teacher. She leaves behind her great passion for life, humor and concern for others. Surviving are son David Scott “Depew” Parsons, son Craig Parsons Depew, son Brian Hunter Depew and his wife Wendy, grandchild Kennen Hunter Depew and grandchild Kendra Jo Depew. Also surviving are her brother George Walter Parsons Jr. and his wife Jaye.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2008 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary. The Rev. Karen Whitaker will officiate.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service on Friday evening at the funeral home beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Olga Zanchelli
Olga Zanchelli, 93, of 1512 Pond Glen Way, Cary, a native of New York, NY, died Monday January 7th, 2008 at home. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene N. Zanchelli, Sr. in May of 1989.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday January 10th in St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Msgr. Tim O’Conner will preside. Burial will be Friday January 11th in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
She is survived by two sons: Teo Zanchelli and his wife Marie of Cary, and Gene N. Zanchelli and his wife Betty of Houston, TX. The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and also from 6-8 pm on Wednesday January 9th at the Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. (Hwy 55) in Apex.

LaRue Denson Gilliam
LaRue Denson Gilliam, 85, of 6425 Old Jenks Rd., Apex, died Saturday Jan. 19, 2008 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
She was retired from Cornell Dubilier Electronics Corporation with 21 years of service. She was the finest mother and grandmother in North Carolina in her family’s eyes. A service celebrating her life and homegoing will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. in the Apex Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will be beside her first husband, Myers C. Gilliam, in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Harry Boadman Thomasson, in 2001.
She was also preceded in death by her son Baxter D. Gilliam, brothers, J.D. Denson Jr. and Cecil Denson, and her sister Maybell D. Dickens.
Surviving are daughter Peggy G. Dealey and her husband Bud of Wilmington, son Phillip L. Gilliam of Sanford, sister Mary Hudson Mann Oliver and husband Lacy, sister in law Margaret Denson, sister in law Polly Denson Jones, daughter in law Emma Gray Gilliam, brother James Ivan Denson and his wife Gerri, seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, along with a special friend, Doris Rich.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday Jan. 21 at the Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St., (Hwy 55) in Apex, and other times at her home.
