Al Seymour
Al Seymour, 69, of New Hill, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. He was the son of the late A.T. Seymour Jr. and Doris Bright Seymour. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Anne B. Seymour.
He was a retired Sergeant from the Apex Police Department, serving them faithfully for 23 years. He also served as a volunteer of the Apex Fire Department and the Apex Rescue Squad. Al was a graduate of Apex High School in 1957 and Chowan College in 1959.
Seymour is survived by his wife of 21 years, Maureen Quinn Seymour, daughter Tracy Seymour Hedrick and her husband Lonnie, sister Susan Seymour Mills and her husband Billy, stepson Blair Spence and his wife Katie, stepdaughter Cari Gardener and her husband Phil, and was a loving and devoted “Pa Pa” to four grandchildren: Alicia and Trevor Hedrick, Austin Gardener and Brandon Spence.
Seymour enjoyed gardening and spending time with his friends and family. He was especially fond of his dog Katie and his three cats.
His family will receive friends at the Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. in Apex, from 6-8 pm on Friday, April 10. A memorial service celebrating his life and home going will be held on Saturday, April 11 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Apex Funeral Home. Flowers are welcomed and memorials may be made to the Wake County ASPCA.
Teresa Chi Hollodick
Teresa Chi Hollodick, 69, of Cary, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2009. She was surrounded by family as she passed away peacefully at the E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center in Lillington. A private ceremony was held for her at Arlington National Cemetery where she was reunited with her husband George Eugene Hollodick. She is survived by her sons Kelly Holiday and Ricky Hollodick, her daughter Rita Newlands, and four grandchildren.
Richard Bennett Freeman Sr.
Richard Bennett Freeman Sr, , of Trumbull, Conn., 64, died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, May 12, 2009. He was the husband of Marjorie Sherwood Freeman and the father of Daniel Paul Freeman, Doris Freeman Matal, and Richard Bennett Freeman Jr.
He also leaves six grandchildren: James, Thomas and Alex Freeman; Megan, Sally and Madison Matal, as well as a brother, David Freeman, sister-in-law Suzanne Cane and her husband David of Providence, RI., two nephews, Eli Cane and Charlie Freeman, and a niece, Rachel Cane. Freeman was born in Wadesboro, the son of the late Charlie Freeman and the late Dorothy Tarieton Freeman. He received a degree in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University and worked 31 years in many capacities for the IBM Corporation.
After retirement, he became an advocate for children with disabilities and their families, helping them to receive appropriate services from school and State agencies, as well as from private providers. Looking back on his life recently, Freeman expressed the desire to be remembered not for his influential positions and innovative projects in the corporate world, but rather as an advocate and a trainer for other advocates of children with disabilities. A memorial service will be held on Friday May 15 at 2 p.m. at Congregation B'nai Israel, 2710 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, Conn. 06604.
Donations in his memory may be made to CLASP Homes Inc., 246 Post Rd. East, Westport, Connecticut 06880. CLASP Homes manages group homes and independent living situations for people with disabilities. The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
Silvy Anna Murphy
Silvy Anna Murphy, Esq., loving wife, caring mother, family member, loyal friend, and remarkable attorney unexpectedly passed away June 1, 2009 in her home in Cary. Born in Bombay, India, Silvy Fernandes moved to NYC as a child after the death of her mother Martha. Silvy was a beautiful 43 years young when she passed away on Monday.
Murphy is survived by her loving husband, Edward F. Murphy III, and her son Edward “Eddie” F. Murphy IV of Cary. She was dedicated to her family and was known for her thoughtfulness and loving heart. She was incredibly strong and overcame many challenges including putting herself through college at Cornell University (Psychology 1987). She then earned her Juris Doctor 1995 from Franklin Pierce Law Center, along with a Masters in IP, to practice law in NY and NC. She also earned her Physics degree from Buffalo State College. Dedicated to serving others, Murphy helped better the lives of children through her work as a Law Guardian in Steuben County, NY from her Hammondsport law office. Then in Cary, she established her successful patent law practice.
Murphy leaves behind a large loving extended family and group of friends, including her sister Audrey Fernandes.
Her family has many happy memories of their times living and vacationing together at Keuka Lake, NY, traveling across country and fishing in Alaska. Silvy touched the lives of many with her kind heart, dedication, intelligence and will be truly missed by her family, friends, clients and colleagues. She will live on in the memories that they share.
Flowers are welcome, or the family asks that memorial contributions be made in lieu to the Bath Area Family Resource Center, C/O Vernon E. Whitman Primary School, 216 Maple Heights, Bath, NY, 14810 in Silvy’s name to help abused and neglected children in Steuben County.
Murphy's husband, son and in laws Joan & Ed Murphy Jr. will receive friends and family on Sunday, June 7 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St., Apex, NC. A prayer service will begin at 4:30 pm. A mass will be held on Monday, June 8 at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew The Apostle Catholic Church, Apex, NC. Burial will follow in Wake Memorial Park on Green Hope School Rd. in Cary.
Susan Lee Ozbun
Susan Lee Ozbun, 62, of Cary, passed away on March 1, 2009 at Rex Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Ozbun was born May 17, 1946 in Randolph County, Indiana; daughter of the late C. John Foley and Louise Thorpe Foley of Lynn, Indiana. Ozbun was a graduate of Ball State University and employed by Reichhold Inc. in the RTP.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 41 years, Larry D. Ozbun, who passed away Dec. 1, 2008. She is survived by her three daughters and their families: Lissa and John Pacanovsky of Cary, Libby and Chris Johnson of Charlotte, and Lezley and Joe Kennison of Cary plus grandchildren Cassie and Grant Pacanovsky, Callie and Cole Johnson, Cody and Case Kennison. Also surviving are sister and brother-in-law, Marcia and Ronal Fisher of Baltimore and numerous nephews and nieces. Ozbun will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend as well as for her unwavering faith, positive attitude, selfless giving and dedicated work ethic.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to Pastor David Brownlee and the church family of Apex United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church of Cary and the dedicated physicians and compassionate health care team at Rex Hospital. In addition, sincere gratitude is felt for the outpouring of support from friends and co-workers during this time.
A celebration of her life will take place at Apex United Methodist Church, 100 South Hughes Street, Apex, on Thursday, March 5 at 2 p.m. The family will receive guests following the service. Memorial donations may be made to Apex United Methodist Church.

Barbara Bunn Earp
Barbara Ann Bunn Earp, 71, of Cary went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 5, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. Earp was born in Zebulon to Sidney Glenn Bunn and Thelma Long Bunn on Sept. 11, 1937.
Earp is survived by her devoted husband, Thurman Waddell Earp; daughter Sandra Trunick and her husband Kevin of Clayton, daughter Tammie Earp Marcom and her husband Rich of Raleigh; grandchildren Chris and Brandi Trunick, Hanna Muwaqat, and Jasmine and Quentin Byrd; sisters Frances Tant of Knightdale, Hildreth Perry, Betty Privette, Becky Blackley all of Zebulon; brother Kenneth Bunn of Zebulon; and several nieces and nephews.
She joins in Heaven her daughter, Gayle Earp Brown, and her brothers Stanley Bunn, Wallace Bunn, and Larry Bunn.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. (Hwy 55), Apex. A funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. following the visitation.
A graveside service will be held 12 noon Monday, March 9 at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Clayton.

Matthew Carl Zick
Matthew C. Zick, 28, died Monday, March 23, 2009. He was born June 22, 1980 in Raleigh to Carl J. and Vann (Carter) Zick. He graduated from Apex High School and later from NC State University with a B.S. in Social Work. He has been employed with the Durham County Department of Social Services for the past year.
Zick is survived by his father and mother, Carl and Vann Zick of Wilmington, sisters Karla Curry (Josh) of Wilmington and Julie Zick of Wilmington, fiancé Tara Webster of Raleigh, Aunt June Walters (Bob) of Raleigh, cousin Bobby Walters (Kristi) of Greenville, uncle David Zick (Marsha) of Binghamton, NY, nephew and nieces Logan Curry, Alyssa and Sophia Marzano-Zick.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 27 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd. Cary, NC. Pastor Jay Helms will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Thursday, March 26 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Matthew’s memory to NC State University Department of Social Work or the UNC Heart Center.
Robin Martin Buchanan
Robin Martin Buchanan of Cary, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday July 11, 2009. She was the dearly loved wife of Ronald Buchanan Jr. of Cary.
She was an amazing mother to her two daughters and their husbands, Heather and Frank Green of Morrisville, and Summer and Jason Bledsoe of Apex. She is also survived by her mother, Doris Martin of Raleigh, her mother-in-law, Betty Buchanan of Apex, her father-in-law Ronald Buchanan Sr. of Raleigh, her brother Chris Martin and nephews Daniel and Dylan Martin, brother-in-law Donald Pope and nephew Lee Pope, sister-in-law Sharon Henry and nephew Andrew Henry, and sister-in-law Kimbo Buchanan, as well as many other dearly loved family and friends.
Buchanan's faith and love of God was immediately evident to all who met her. Her kind, gentle spirit blessed those around her, and her joy and passion for life were contagious. She was an angel here on earth who loved her Lord, her family and her friends passionately, and will never be forgotten. She will be remembered for many things including, her unwavering positive outlook on life, her love of Coca-Cola, her mother hen tendencies towards her daughter's friends, and her fabulous spaghetti dinners that will live on.
A celebration of Robin's life will be held on Tuesday, July 14 at 6 p.m. at Apex Baptist Church. Apex Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, or pancan.org.
George M. Peakovic
George M. Peakovic, died unexpectedly Oct. 8, 2009. Peakovic was born in Lakewood, Ohio on Dec. 11, 1938 and lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Crofton, Md. and for the past six years lived in Morrisville.
Survivors include his beloved wife of over 50 years, Kathryn A. (Dryer) and cherished daughter Lisa Mary Monahan (Kevin) of Mechanicsville, MD; brother of Rosemary Metro of Rocky River, OH and the following deceased: Ruth Moran, Donald McGinty, Edward Peakovic; and uncle of 19 nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for George will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 810 High House Road, Cary, NC. Family will receive friends and family at 10 a.m. at the church prior to services.
