Esther Wehner
Esther Wehner, 79, Richardton, died Thursday, April 3, 2003 at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, April 7, 2003 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton. Reverend Brian Wangler, O.S.B. officiated. Interment was in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Richardton.
Esther Wehner was born August 2, 1923 to August and Elizabeth (Hesse) Bogner in Hot Springs, SD. She graduated from St. John’s McNamara School of Nursing in Rapid City, SD in 1944. She met Frank Wehner, the love of her life while working at Ft. Meade Veterans Administration Hospital in South Dakota. They married August 26, 1947 in Sturgis, SD.
Five years later they settled in Richardton where Esther devoted her life to family and her nursing career. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. She retired from Richardton Health Center in 1992 after working there for 40 years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and canning. Esther is survived by her husband, Frank Wehner, Richardton; three daughters, Linda (Jim) Farina, Prospect, CT; Charlene Wehner, Minneapolis, MN and Marilyn (Mark) Van Gestel, Omaha, NE; five grandchildren, Jamie, Becky and Nick Farina and Zachary and Adam Van Gestel; brothers, Rudy, Richard and Leonard Bogner, twin brother, Edward Bogner and sister, Estella Bogner. Price-Murphy Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Emanuel Ulmer
Emanuel Ulmer, 93, New Salem, died Sunday, April 6, 2003 while a resident of the Elm Crest Manor. His funeral service will be today, Wednesday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m. MDT at the First United Methodist Church in Hebron. Rev. John Barwick will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation began Tuesday after 5 p.m. at the Chapel of Elm Crest Manor where a prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Mr. Ulmer was born on a farm southwest of Glen Ullin November 5, 1909. He was a son of Charles and Minnie (Weikum) Ulmer. He was raised on the farm and educated at both a rural school and the Hebron Public School. Following his education he began farming.
He married Martha Heinle December 20, 1931 at the Bethany Church in rural Glen Ullin. Following their marriage they farmed and raised their family. He was the treasurer of the rural telephone company for 20 years, served on the board of the Farmers Union and Hebron Farmers Elevator. Martha died in February of 1965. Emanuel married Helen Norton in 1966. They continued to farm until 1972 when they moved to New Salem. Emanual worked as a carpenter and later as the janitor of the school and the housing units for many years. He was also the treasurer of the New Salem Senior Citizens for a number of years. He entered the Elm Crest Manor in the late 1990s where he lived until his death on Sunday, April 6, 2003. Helen preceded him in death in January of 1999. Also preceding him in death were his parents, one daughter Margie Luithle; one son Floyd; four brothers, Paul, Edwin, Reuben and Wilbert and three sisters Frieda, Clara and Tillie. He is survived by his children and their spouses – Jim and Joyce Ulmer, Bismarck, ND and Dorothy and Robert Miller, Mandan, ND and one son-in-law, Albert Luithle, Mott, ND and one daughter-in-law, Rose Marie Ulmer, Yakima, WA. He also leaves his stepchildren and their spouses – Robert and Jeanette Bateman, New Salem, ND; Donna and Eugene Gratz, Minneapolis, MN and Sharon and Darrell Kirkeby, Fargo, ND; ten grandchildren and 11 step grandchildren; 21 great and 23 step great grandchildren and two step great-great grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, Robert, Missoula, MT and sister, Esther Becher, Bismarck, ND. Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron, was in charge of arrangements.

Ann Braun Wolter Milburn
Ann Braun Wolter Milburn died quietly in her sleep in Beaverton, OR on March 29, 2003 having courageously fought non-hodgkin’s lymphoma for 15 months. She was born on June 27, 1908 in Bismarck, ND. Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Ernest J. Wolter; and Orville Milburn, to whom she had been married for eight years and by a son, Norman E. Wolter. She is survived by two children, Chet Wolter (Patricia) of 9555 NW 316th Place, Hillsboro, OR 97124 and Jeanette Wolter Peace of 18113 Ashton Park Way, Tampa, FL 33647. She was very proud of her five grandchildren and six great grand children. Ann was the oldest of 10 children and is survived by two brothers, Robert Braun of Bozeman, MT and Evart Braun of Morganton, NC and two sisters, Jessie Braun Lapp of Pendleton, OR and Loretta Braun Johnson of Valley City, ND. There are many nieces and nephews, including Wayne Eggert and his family of Hebron. Ann attended Dickinson State Normal School to obtain her teaching certificate. She taught for six years in one room country schools in New Hradec, Belfield and Taylor, ND. In 1936, she came to Hebron to teach elementary school and formed the first local Girl Scout Troop. In addition to Hebron, she taught an additional 22 years in Glen Ullin, ND; PeEll, WA and Sweet Home, OR. Over the years she continued to attend summer school and night classes to achieve a BS in Education from Oregon College of Education in Monmouth, OR. The education of children gave her great joy and gratification. In 1938, Ann married Ernest J. Wolter. They lived the first eight years of their marriage on the farm that had been homesteaded by his grandfather, Phillip Bratzel, south of Hebron. When the family moved into Hebron, Ernest had an Oliver, Pontiac and GMC dealership. Ann and Ernest were both very involved in activities of St. John’s Church, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and other civic and social organizations. After 15 years, they relocated to the Pacific Northwest.
They continued to be very involved in community affairs. Following retirement, they traveled extensively in the USA. Ernest died due to leukemia in 1985.
At the age of 80, with her "Why not?" attitude, she married Orville Milburn. Eight years later, as a widow, she moved to a retirement village in Beaverton, OR. With another new beginning, she made many friends through her interest in dolls, card design, needlework, calligraphy, journaling and Bible study. Missed by those who remain, she triumphed with poise and dignity, a life well lived. Remembrances in her name may be made to a charity of your choosing.

Milton Boehler
Milton C. Boehler, 77, Ashland, Ohio, died Sunday, March 23, 2003 at Crystal Care Center in Ashland. He was born May 9, 1925 in Hebron, ND, the son of John and Margaret Frank Boehler. He retired from Montana Tech in Butte, MT where he and his wife lived for nine years before relocating to Ashland. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Mann Boehler whom he married December 27, 1967; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Esther Sailer of Hebron, ND, Irma and Ed Pribyl of Dickinson, ND, Isabelle Jones of San Diego, CA and Donna and Pete Hildre of Cloquet, MN; one brother, Leroy Boehler of Mountain Home, Idaho. Mr. Boehler was preceded in death by his first wife, Velma Stauduhar; his parents; two brothers, Jake and Walter and five sisters, Elsie, Freda, Alma, Tillie and Ann. At his request, Mr. Boehler’s body was donated to the Ohio State University School of Anatomy. A memorial service is planned for a later date at the convenience of the family. Ken "Bud" Wandler
Ken "Bud" Wandler passed away Thursday, March 20, 2003 at 5:20 p.m. He was a man who thought and portrayed himself as someone who would not be missed. Someone who "never made a big splash in the world." But in truth he touched more hearts and souls than he could have ever realized. He was husband, father, grandfather, teacher, coworker and friend. He will be missed not so much for what he had accomplished in his lifetime, but more for his simple and reassuring presence. He is survived by his wife, Sandy, four children Valorie, Dan (Shelly), Kathy and Eileen (Allen) Pippin and two grandchildren – Marcus and Logan; three brothers – Ron (Marianne), Donald (Lydia), and Bruce (Donna) Wandler. He also leaves six nieces and six nephews.
He is also survived by all those whom he and his immediate family would consider extended family; those whom he had mentored, guided or encouraged to achieve more than they had thought themselves capable. You will be missed, and will remain forever in our hearts and memories. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 26 at 11:30 a.m. at Edine-Yahn Chapel, Kent, WA with interment following at Tahoma National Cemetery.

Sister Gemma Hartinger
Funeral Liturgy for Sister Gemma Hartinger, OSB, 86, Sacred Heart Monastery, Richardton, was held Thursday, March 20, 2003 at 10 a.m. MDT at the Sacred Heart Monastery. Father Lawrence Wagner, Assumption Abbey, was presider. Sr. Marie Hunkler, prioress, presided at the monastic funeral rites. Interment followed at the Sacred Heart Monastery Cemetery, Richardton. Sister Hartinger passed away Sunday, March 16, 2003 at the St. Vincent’s Care Center, Bismarck. Sister Gemma was born January 3, 1917 and baptized as Frances Mary, was the sixth child of seven born to George and Mary (VanAckeren) Hartinger in Glen Ullin. She attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Glen Ullin Public High School. In 1939, after a year at St. Benedict’s College in St. Joseph, MN, she entered Sacred Heart Monastery, then located at Garrison and made her first monastic profession in 1941. After earning her teaching credentials through Mount Marty College in Yankton, SD, she began her long and devoted service as an elementary school teacher. She taught at St. Leo’s and Little Flower Schools in Minot, St. Nicholas School in Garrison, St. Mary’s School in Malta, MT and St. Vincent’s School in Mott. From 1967 to 1975 she was assigned to St. Benedict’s Academy in Bogota, Columbia, which was then a mission of Sacred Heart Monastery. In addition to her teaching, Sr. Gemma served on various committees and from 1964 to 1967 was subprioress of the Monastery. In 1991 she retired to the monastery where she compiled community photo albums and used her calligraphy and artistic skills for creating posters, signs, and greeting cards. She credited her brothers with giving her a lifelong interest in sports, and she enjoyed cheering her favorite teams from the television room. However, her greatest satisfaction and pride came in remembering students and stories from her nearly 50 years of teaching. Sr. Gemma is survived by her brother Joe Hartinger of Glen Ullin, her sister, Catherine Folliard of Sonoma, CA, numerous nephews and nieces, as well as the Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery. Her parents, who both died before she was 14 years old, her brothers, Ted, Frank, Lawrence and sister Anna, preceded her in death. Anna Glaser
Anna M. Glaser, 94, Glen Ullin, died Thursday, March 20, 2003 at the Marian Manor Healthcare Center in Glen Ullin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today, Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at 11 a.m. MT at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with the Rev. Sebastian Schmidt O.S.B. as Celebrant. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Glen Ullin. Visitations will begin Tuesday after 4 p.m. at Sacred Heart in Glen Ullin and will continue until the time of services. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. MT Tuesday at the church. Anna was born January 3, 1909 at Glen Ullin, the daughter of Mathias and Anna Marie (Gustin) Schaaf. She was raised and educated in the Glen Ullin area. She married Michael Schafer in 1929 at Sacred Heart in Glen Ullin. He died in December of 1968. Anna was a long time resident of Glen Ullin and a life long member of Sacred Heart Church. She entered the Marian Manor in May of 1999, living there until her death. Anna was a warm, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She devoted her life to her family and loved being with them. She will be greatly missed. Anna is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law – Marilyn Braun, Glen Ullin; Carol and Ike Grantham, Bismarck and Diane Sailer, Williston, ND; Eleven grandchildren – Charles (Linda) Braun, Patrick Braun, Georgia Schwartz, Lori (Ken) Ficek, Karen (Mark) Hager, Kevin (Vicki) Opp, Kari (Richard) Cedillo, Joseph (Jill) Wetzstein, Dana (Brian) Scholz, Melissa (Kevin) Corecoran and Michael (Allyson) Sailer; Twenty-one great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She is also survived by four stepsons Duane (Betty) DelaBarre, Jerry DelaBarre, Dennis (Nadine) DelaBarre and John Glaser and two brothers-in-law, Nick Schafer and John Schafer. She also leaves one sister-in-law, LaVern Schafer. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and nine sisters, three husbands – Mike Schafer, Alvin DelaBarre and Joseph Glaser, two sons-in-law, C. C. Braun, Joseph Wetzstein and one grandson-in-law, Dale Schwartz. Spangelo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Barth
Robert D. Barth, 65, New Leipzig, passed away at his home with his wife by his side on March 11, 2003 following a two-year battle with cancer. His funeral service was held Monday, March 17 at 10 a.m. MST at St. John’s Catholic Church, New Leipzig. Burial was in the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan on Monday at 3 p.m. CST. Robert was born May 27, 1937 at Kensal, ND to John and Pauline (Steckler) Barth. He graduated from high school at the Richardton Abbey in 1955. He served two years in the United States Army, in which he took pride. He loved his flag and his country. He tried his hand at the banking business, the bar business, insurance and clothing business. He then returned to his first love, farming and ranching, which he has done successfully for the past 30 years. Robert married Rosalie Faulhaber at Dickinson on January 18, 1961. They were blessed with three children – Dennis, James and Donna. He enjoyed traveling and was fortunate enough to have been able to make trips to see his children and grandchildren as often as possible, following his diagnosis. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He is survived by his wife, Rosalie; two sons, Dennis (Sheila) Barth and Jim (Angie) Barth; one daughter, Donna (Steve) Hintz; three grandchildren, Jacob Barth, Danielle Hintz and Bradley Hintz; two step-grandchildren, Tom Foryan and Sandra (Kevin) Lauckner; one step-great grandchild, Brenden Lauckner; Three brothers, Vincent (Rita), John (Edith) and Gerald (Mary Ann); four sisters, Lorraine (Bill) Thompson, Lucille Wendt, Bernice (Fred) Meyer and Carolyn (Ed) Pechtl and numerous nieces and nephews. Christine Kuntz
Christine "Tina" Kuntz, 79, Hebron, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at the Richardton Healthcare Center. Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, May 31 at 10:30 a.m. MT at the St. Ann Catholic Church, Hebron, with the Reverends Francis dos Remedios and Brian Wangler, concelebrating. Burial was held in the St. Ann Cemetery in Hebron.
Christine was born May 19, 1924 in Glen Ullin, ND, the daughter of John and Christina (Opp) Wallery. She was raised and educated at Glen Ullin and graduated in 1942. She worked for Saul Halpern as a receptionist, secretary and typist until 1947. She married Thomas B. Kuntz September 6, 1947 in Hebron. She taught school for a year and a half in rural Glen Ullin. In 1948 they moved to a farm in the St. Peter and Paul area south of Hebron. She enjoyed living in the close knit community of Sts. Peter and Paul. She enjoyed many picnics and playing cads with friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed dancing on Saturday nights. Christine had a large garden that was full of beautiful flowers and vegetables to provide for her family. She loved baking cookies and playing a game called "Milton the Monster" with her grandchildren. Christine always had the coffee pot ready with a little lunch for the visitors at the farm. She was an avid reader, an expert at Scrabble and a longtime member of the Christian Mothers. She also had a passion for fishing. She is survived by her husband Thomas, Hebron; two daughters – Linda (Duane) Sailer, Dickinson and Joan (James) Curl, Gainsville, FL; three sons – David, Salt Lake City, Utah; Thomas, Jr. (Lee Ann), Campbell, CA; Robert (Rosemarie), Bismarck, ND; seven grandchildren – Mark Sailer, Carrie Sailer, Ryan Kuntz, Aric Kuntz, Nathan Kuntz, Rachell Kuntz and Lewis Curl. She also leaves one great grandchild, Alexander Sailer and one brother, August Wallery, Billings, MT. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Louis Curl; three brothers – John, Eddie and Victor and two sisters, Helen and Katie. Arrangements by Spangelo Funeral Home.

John Wetzel, Jr.
John Wetzel, Jr., 80, Glen Ullin and formerly of Lewistown, MT, died Saturday, May 31, 2003 at the Marian Manor Healthcare Center in Glen Ullin. His funeral service was held yesterday, Tuesday, June 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the Spangelo Funeral Home in Glen Ullin with the Rev. Chris Walstad officiating. Burial was in the Glen Ullin Cemetery.
John was born August 30, 1922 in rural Glen Ullin, the son of John and Eva (Stauss) Wetzel, Sr. He grew up and was educated at Bluegrass.
Following his education he worked construction in building roads, the Garrison Dam and other projects in California and Montana. He married Rose Schafer December 30, 1961 in Glen Ullin.
John loved to fish.
Rose died May 13, 1982. John returned to the Glen Ullin area in 1994 when he entered the Marian Manor. He is survived by two sisters – Vendora (Art) Gappert, New Salem, ND and Wilda Owens, Bismarck. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and five brothers – Emil, Joe, Adolph, Gust and Edwin and a sister, Gertrude Redmann. Spangelo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Marie Opp
Marie Opp, 93, of the Marian Manor Healthcare Center in Glen Ullin and formerly of Hebron, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at the Marian Manor in Glen Ullin. Her funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hebron with the Revs. Gabor Tamas and Chris Walstad officiating. Burial was in the Congregational Cemetery in Hebron.
Marie was born December 25, 1910 at Hosmer, SD, the daughter of August and Lydia (Sayler) Ketterling. The family moved to North Dakota in 1910 and settled north of Hebron. She was raised and educated in rural Hebron and helped on the family farm and with the younger children. She moved to Dickinson and worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital prior to her marriage to Simon Opp. They were married October 11, 1932 at Hebron. Following their marriage they farmed in rural Hebron until 1972 when they retired and moved into Hebron where Marie lived until she moved to Glen Ullin in 1996. Simon died in 1981.
She was a life long member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and a 30 year member of the German Ladies Aid as well as the Guiding Light Society. Marie was well known for her hospitality and was a gracious hostess to all who visited her home. She loved to bake kuchen and cookies and was named the "Cookie Grandma" by her grandchildren and their friends who often stopped by for a treat. Although Marie’s formal education only consisted of grade school, she was self educated and was an avid reader and read two newspapers a day even into her 90s. Marie could also speak two languages fluently, German and English. She is survived by two daughters – Norma (George) Peterson, Fargo, ND and Mary Ann Unruh Auch, Dickinson, ND; five sons: Allen (Fern), New Salem; Ivan (Linda), Fargo, ND; Duane (Rita), Jim (Carolyn) and David (Brenda) all of Hebron. She also leaves 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; two sisters – Clara Schatz, Elgin, ND and Ruth Hoerauf, Fargo, ND and two brothers – Raymond Ketterling, Twin Falls, Idaho and Eugene Ketterling, Loveland, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sons-in-law, Clarence Unruh and Ed Auch. Funeral arrangements were by Spangelo Funeral Home.

Ida Luithle
Funeral services for Ida Luithle, 87, of Bismarck, formerly of Mott, ND will be held today, May 28, 2003 at 11 a.m. MT at the United Church of Christ, 212 Iowa Avenue, Mott. Pastor Michael Nahas and Pastor Steve Dunn will officiate with burial in the Neuburg Cemetery northeast of Mott. Philip Schneider will play "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes, Dalles and Russ Schneider will be the cemetery bell ringers. Special music for the service will be provided by Sarah Luithle, organist. Serving as casket bearers are Ardell and David Mees, Ronald and Harvey Schneider and Darrell and Dale Ottmar. Ida was born August 25, 1915, the daughter of Fred and Elisabeth (Klein) Luithle. She grew up on the family farm north of Mott and moved to Mott in 1976 where she was employed at the Holiday House for many years. She moved to Bismarck in March 1997 and resided at the Sunrise Assisted Living until April 2003. She appreciated the care from the staff and the friends she made while living at the Sunrise Assisted living. She was always grateful for the visitors that stopped by to see her. Ida enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She died Saturday, May 24 at Medcenter One Care Center in Mandan. Her sisters Adeline and Elizabeth were at her bedside at the time of her death. She is survived by four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Martha Ottmar, Mott; Frieda and Leo Voll, Mandan; Adeline McConachie, Elizabeth and Edwin Schneider, Bismarck and one sister-in-law Sarah Luithle, Bismarck; 28 nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and nephews. Preceding Ida in death were her parents, three brothers, Fred, Edward and John, two sisters Bertha Dohn and Carolyn (Belmore) Bertalan.

Raymond J. Vogle
Raymond J. Vogle, 78, Richardton, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at his home in Richardton. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2003 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richardton with the Reverend Brian Wangler OSB, officiating. Burial was held Tuesday, May 27 at 9 a.m. CDT at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, rural Mandan. Raymond John Vogle was born March 22, 1925 at Richardton, the son of Carl F. and Katie (Reith) Vogle. He was raised and educated in rural Richardton. Ray entered the U. S. Army Air Force on November 26, 1945 and was stationed in Alaska and later at Great Falls, MT where he was discharged on May 24, 1947. He worked on the family farm until his marriage.
He married Angeline Dick June 15, 1949 at St. Mary’s in Richardton. They farmed on his parents place until 1966 when they moved to Angeline’s parent’s farm east of Richardton. They retired from farming in 1989 and moved into Richardton in 1996. His hobbies included woodworking.
His greatest enjoyment in life was getting together with his family. Ray died May 20, 2003 at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Angeline, Richardton, ND; two sons, Emil (Sally), Hebron, ND and Raymond P, (Linda), Fargo, ND and four daughters – Eugenia Braun, Bismarck, ND; Tina (Mickey) Schumacher, Napoleon, ND; Claudine (Montie) Galt, Bismarck, ND and Milissa (Tom) Stickel, Richardton, ND. He also leaves 16 grandchildren and six great grandchildren and one sister, Sue Kirschenheiter, Richardton, ND. Ray was preceded in death by his parents. Elsie Nickel
Elsie Gallwas Nickel, 88, passed away Friday, May 2, 2003 at Mountain View Care Center in Bozeman, Montana. She was born August 3, 1914 at Otter Creek, North Dakota to Edward and Christina Gallwas. She married William C. Nickel at Otter Creek, ND June 17, 1934. She and her husband farmed in the Judson, ND area for 20 years. The couple moved to Bozeman in 1950 where they owned and operated the Gallatin Motel until their retirement in 1978. She was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church, New Salem, ND and First Lutheran Church in Bozeman. She volunteered at the Bozeman Senior Center in the RSVP program. She loved crocheting, knitting and crafts. Elsie is survived by son Edward Nickel of Cheyenne, WY, daughter and son-in-law Alice and Jerry Lundwall of Bella Vista, AR; son and daughter-in-law Harold and Marilyn Nickel of Kirkland, WA; daughter, Mavis Knudson of Westlake, OH; ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Fred Gallwas of Missoula; sisters Bertha Kilber of Mott, ND; Esther Corneliusen of Billings, MT; Bernice Rehling of Hebron, ND and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, one sister, one daughter-in-law and one grandson preceded her in death. Services were held Tuesday, May 6 at First Lutheran Church, Bozeman. Interment was at Sunset Hills Cemetery.

Anton Perzinski
Anton Perzinski, 81, South Heart, died Saturday, May 10, 2003 at his home. His funeral service was held at 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday, May 13 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, South Heart. Burial was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Anton is survived by his wife, Ida; three sons, Arnold, Palisade, CO and Clyde and James, both of South Heart; three daughters, Karen Kuntz, Williston; Carla Jirges, Glendive, MT and Antoinette Staiger, Hebron. He also leaves 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, six sisters - Eva Dvorak, Terri Little, Mary Shaw, Catherine Pirkl, Vicki Twardoski and Susie Harris and one brother, Bill. Benjiman Heinle
Benjiman (Ben) Heinle died Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at the Marian Manor Healthcare Center in Glen Ullin, ND. His funeral was held Monday, August 11 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Hebron, ND. Rev. David Ling officiated. Burial was in the First Baptist Cemetery, Hebron.
Ben was born April 15, 1918 in Hebron, a son of Adolph Heinle and Magdalina Staiger Heinle. He attended rural schools and worked on the family farm.
He married Ella Margaret Delzer of Elgin, ND on October 31, 1943 at the First Baptist Church of Hebron. They moved to the Fred Schneider farm in the fall of 1944 where they lived until 1947. They moved to the August Draeb farm in 1948 where they lived until moving into Hebron in the fall of 1952. Ben worked for Electric Properties from 1962 to 1969 in various states including North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Montana, Wyoming, Iowa and Colorado. Ben lived at Green Acres in Hebron prior to entering the Marian Manor Healthcare Center in Glen Ullin January 16, 1998. He leaves four children – LeRoy Heinle (Carol), Augusta, MT; Calvin Heinle (Dorothy), Dickinson, ND; Idella Tuttle (Randall), Ewing, NE and Lynole Heinle (Raynae), Hebron, ND. He also leaves ten grandchildren – Beverly, Kevin, Misty, Susan, Steven, Kayla Michelle, Jeremy, Meghan and Allison and five great grandchildren – Sidney, Julian, Mathew, Nathanial and Gavin and five step great grandchildren – Jim, Kellie, Kari, Chris and Darin. Other survivors include two sisters – Esther Schneider (Clarence), Hebron and Agnes Knittel, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers – Edwin, Edmund, Arnold, Emil and Richard and three infant brothers – Adolph, Herbert and Robert. Ila Schimke
Ila Faye Schimke, 65, Hebron, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck after having fought a battle with cancer for many months. Her memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 25 at Peace Lutheran Church in Dickinson, ND with the Rev. Steven Schou officiating. Interment of the ashes will be held at a later date in the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, rural Mandan. Ila was born at Carrington, ND February 25, 1937, the daughter of Coyle and Edna Vollmer Fornshell. She grew up and was educated in the Carrington School System. She married Gurmen Schimke August 5, 1956 at Carrington.
She received a one year rural teaching certificate from Valley City State University and later obtained a Life Standard certificate from the same institution. Ila and Gurmen were educators in several school systems in North Dakota including seven years at Kathryn, ND, 11 years at Wolford, ND She retired from the Hebron Elementary School system in 2002.
Needless to say, Ila loved every minute of her 40-year career. For many years Ila and Gurmen spent the summer months working in Medora. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, working in the garden or on her weaving and sitting on the back deck with Gurmen. Her special friends were held close to her heart and were accepted as family. She loved the Lord dearly and was a devote member of Peace Lutheran Church in Dickinson. Her caring nature was contagious and her heart was open to all. She was also an active member of the Hebron Post #100 of the American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Gurmen, Hebron, ND; daughter and son-in-law, Erika and Jamie Perry, Bismarck, ND; two grandchildren; Grant and Grayson and two step grandchildren Paige and Levi. She also leaves her mother Edna Fornshell, Missoula, MT; three sisters – Leah Rae (Alva) Daniels, Missoula, MT; Vonda Lee (Jim) Maxwell, Goldmeda, CA and Verna Mae (Adrian) Sandag, Garden Grove, CA and one brother, Daryl (Gwen) Fornshell, Santa Cruz, CA. She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers, Roger and Lavern. Spangelo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ted Messer
Ted Messer, 64, Warroad, MN and formerly of the Dickinson and Richardton area, passed away Monday, July 21 at his farm near Fosston, MN. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 30 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richardton. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church in Richardton. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Richardton. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, Fosston, MN. Ted Messer was born November 13, 1938 in Richardton, ND to parents Jake and Leakatria (Froehlich) Messer. He grew up on a dairy farm south of Hebron, ND. He attended rural school near his home and graduated from Model High School in Dickinson, ND. Following high school. He attended North Dakota State University in Fargo. Ted was united in marriage to Margie Messmer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richardton. Following their marriage, Ted and Margie lived in Dickinson where Ted was employed at Carlson Construction as an architectural draftsman. They relocated to Oregon and he worked at the Oregon Lumber Mill for the next two years. For the next 11 years they lived in Arizona where Ted worked at Sperry Flight Systems in Phoeniz. Currently, Ted and Margie reside in Warroad, Minnesota. Ted has been employed at Marvin Windows in Warroad for the past nine years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fosston, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Warroad and past member of the United States National Guard. Ted loved woodworking and working on his hobby farm in Rosebud Township, near Fosston. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Ted passed away unexpectedly at his hobby farm near Fosston at the age of 64 years. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Margie of Warroad; one son, Greg (Brenda) of Dickinson, ND; one daughter, Tina (Marik) Kovash of Manning, ND; six grandchildren, Amy Aasen, Amanda Egan, Anthony Kovash, Alyss Kovash, Ashlyn Messer and Ayana Kovash; two brothers, James (MaryAnn) and Marvin (Marlene), all of Arizona and four sisters, Lorretta (David) Hanel of Wisconsin, Kathy (Ron) Schwartz of Colorado, Georgiann (Allen) Schmalenberger of North Dakota and Salome (Oran) Woody of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joseph and Edwin.

Rose Born
Rose Born, 94, Richardton, ND died Friday, July 25, 2003 at the Richardton Health Center. Her funeral mass was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton, with Fr. Brian Wangler, OSB, as the celebrant. Interment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Rose Hammerschmidt was born January 4, 1909 at Richardton, ND, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Braulick) Hammerschmidt. She was raised on the family farm north of Richardton where she attended country school and St. Mary’s High School. Rose married Fred Born, Jr., on November 17, 1931 in Richardton. Fred was owner and operator of Born’s Meat Market until 1977. He died in December of 1985. Rose’s life revolved around her family and friends. She also participated in many community activities through the years, such as fundraisers, Altar Society, the Hospital Auxiliary, Senior Bridge Club and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed baking, cooking and especially spending time with her many grandchildren. Rose is survived by four daughters, Florence "Patty" Kroetch, Spirit Lake, ID, Marilyn (Charles) Wilz, Bismarck, Anita (George) Messer, Richardton and Rose Marie (Charles) Gerhart, Mandan; 19 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and two sisters – Eleanor Hoff, Richardton and Marie Sickler, Dickinson and one brother, Joe (Mary) Hammerschmidt, Richardton. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five sisters, Genevieve Hammerschmidt, Louise Schmidt, Loretta Hardy, Frieda Kuntz and Florence Hammerschmidt; one brother, Frank Hammerschmidt, one granddaughter, Carol Messer, two great-grandsons, Shane Rebel and Lee James Messer and one son-in-law, Charles Kroetch. Lloyd A. Maas
A funeral service for Lloyd A. Maas will be held today, Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. at the Crocker Lutheran Church, Crocker, S.D. Pastor Marion Grimes officiated. Pallbearers were Michael Maas, Tyler Maas, Floyd James Maas, Garrett Maas, John Maas and Chris Holmlund. Military rites were by Baker American Legion Post #209, Raymond, SD. Lloyd Arnold Maas, son of John F. and Katherine (Metzger) Maas was born April 14, 197 in Eagles Nest, ND. He attended school in Hebron,ND. Following his education, Lloyd left North Dakota and moved to Mahnomen, MN where he held several different jobs as a farm laborer and construction worker. He was inducted into the United States Army July 13, 1942 and served his country in several different areas in Europe. He was discharged October 14, 1945 and returned to Mahnomen, MN. In 1958, Lloyd moved to Crocker where he spent the rest of his life with the exception of four years when he worked for his cousin Phyllis traveling with the circus. Lloyd worked for various farmers in the Crocker area and worked at Chef Reddy in the early 1980s. Lloyd enjoyed working in his workshop making picture frames and other wooden items. He also enjoyed fishing and a good game of pinochle. He died Sunday, July 20, 2003 in a Watertown hospital at the age of 86. Lloyd is survived by three brothers, Floyd and Julia Maas of Crocker; Willard and Delores Maas of Spokane, WA; Albert Vastag of Fargo, ND and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Sophie Williamson and two brothers, Art and Chris Maas. Arne Funeral Home, Clark, SD was in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Streu Kopp
Evelyn Kopp, 86, Roseburg, OR, formerly of Richardton and Dickinson, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003 in Oregon. Mass of Christian Burial will be held today, Wednesday, July 9 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richardton with the Reverend Brian Wangler, OSB, celebrating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Richardton.
Evelyn Streu was born September 10, 1916 to William and Anna (Kasten) Streu in Taylor, ND. She was raised and educated in Taylor, graduating from Taylor High School in 1934. On January 9, 1935 she married Raymond Kopp at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton. Together they farmed south of Richardton until moving into Richardton in 1941. In 1969 they moved to Dickinson and for 21 years she was employed at St. Luke’s Home, retiring in January 1993. Raymond died on October 30, 1983.
Evelyn enjoyed crossword puzzles, quilting, sewing, crafts, playing bingo and cards. She was a past member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton and St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson. Grateful for having shared her life, Evelyn is survived by four sons – Kenneth, Denver, CO. and his children Mike, Evelyn, Pat and Kevin; James (Lois), Mesa, AZ and their children Douglas and Jamie; Robert (Kathy), Surprise, AZ and their children Scott and Shannon; Ronald (JoAnn), Denver, Co. and their children Kimberly and Bryan; one daughter, Karen (Terry) Sickler, Roseburg, OR and their children Tera and Mandi and the children of Arlene (Bud), Duane, Cynthia and Eileen; ten great grandchildren. Howard Kitzan
Howard Kitzan, 78, Bismarck and formerly of rural Richardton, went to be with the Lord, whom he loved dearly on Sunday, July 6, 2003 at a Bismarck Healthcare Center. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. MT Thursday, July 10, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Hebron with the Reverend David Ling officiating. Burial will be in the First Baptist Cemetery in Hebron.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Spangelo Funeral Home in Hebron where a prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Howard was born February 5, 1925 near Antelope, ND, the son of Adolph and Martha (Dollinger) Kitzan. He grew up on the farm and was educated in a country school. He married Hillia Delzer from Elgin on October 18, 1950 in New Leipzig. He was a lifetime farmer southeast of Antelope where he raised small grains and worked with his herd of dairy cows. One of his greatest joys was to be on a John Deere tractor working the fields. Howard had served for many years on the Hebron Creamery Board.
When his health began to fail and he required dialysis, he moved to Bismarck several years ago. He entered the Missouri Slope in March, 2003 and lived there until his death on July 6, 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Gertrude. He is survived by his wife Hillia, Bismarck, ND; two sons, Douglas and his friend, Lugene Gerber, Bismarck, ND and Brian and his wife Connie, Richardton, ND and one daughter Audrey Schumacher, Havre, MT He also leaves five grandchildren – Casey, Bryce and Craig Kitzan and Amber and Lindsay Schumacher. Loretta Drummond
Loretta M. Drummond, 83, Naperville, IL died Saturday, June 28, 2003 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL. She was born August 25, 1919 in Kewanee, IL and had been a resident of Naperville for the past two years. Before coming to Naperville, she had been a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa for five years and Hebron, North Dakota for 16 years. While living in Bettendorf, she was a sewing instructor at the Singer Sewing Center. Mrs. Dummond loved to sew and cook. She was also very active in Cub Scouting and the DeMolay, a Masonic group for 14 – 21 year olds and was a State Mom in Iowa for one year. She is survived by her husband Ray G. Drummond, Sr., Naperville, IL; a son Bruce (Diane DeBok) Drummond of Terre Haute, IN; a daughter Lois Tibor of Valley City, ND; a daughter-in-law Julie Drummond, Naperville, IL; a sister Doris Witte of Toulon, IL; five grandchildren Danielle Drummond, Stacey Kelly, Lori Carden, Beth Otero and Michelle Wings and by eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents – August "Ed" and Ida (nee Norburn) Heavner; a son Ray G. Drummond, Jr.; a brother Edwin Heavner and by a sister Helen Nanninga. Ruth Bruvold
Ruth Bruvold, 82, Hebron, ND died Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at the Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. Her funeral service was held Saturday, June 28 at 2 p.m. at the St. John Church in Hebron with Pastor Ed Zuern, officiating. Burial was in the St. John cemetery in Hebron.
Ruth Bruvold was born September 24, 1920 near Antelope, ND, the daughter of Gottlieb and Ann (Kapitz) Diede. She grew up in the Antelope area and was educated and graduated from the Hebron school. She attended college at Fargo for two years.
She worked in Dickinson at the County Extension until her marriage to Orion Bruvold on November 11, 1945 at the St. John Church in Hebron. Following their marriage they made their life together on the farm where they raised children, small grains, Hereford cattle and Duroc hogs. Ruth was a member of the St. John Church. She died June 24, 2003 in Colorado Springs, CO at the age of 82 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Russel; one granddaughter Jackie Roberts, two sisters – June Peterson and Phyllis Lund and one brother, Harold Diede. Ruth is survived by four daughters – Bonnie (Paul) Orvedahl, Hebron, ND; Peggy (Dale) Wilson, Dolores, CO; Linda (Walter) Borntrauger, Bloomfield, MT and Ginger Bruvold, Lake George, CO. Irene Klick
Irene M. Klick, 99, Dickinson and formerly of Hebron, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at the St. Benedict’s Healthcare Center in Dickinson. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2003 at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Hebron with the Reverend Francis dos Remedios, OSB as Celebrant. Burial was in the St. John Cemetery in Hebron.
Irene was born August 15, 1903 at Sleepy Eye, MN, a daughter of Michael and Mary (Faast) Radl. She was reared at Sleepy Eye and was educated at St. Mary’s School. She furthered her education at the College of St. Catherines at St. Paul where she graduated in June, 1925. She moved to Hebron and taught in the high school.
She married Walter G. Klick September 12, 1928 at Sleepy Eye, MN. Following their marriage she did substitute teaching and raised her family. Irene was active in the community. She was a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Royal Neighbors, Hebron Historical and Art Society and the Brick City Senior Citizens. Irene enjoyed quilting, visiting and had many friends in Hebron and elsewhere. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Barbara Klick, Vienna, VA and a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Zane Gray, Sun City Center, FL. She also leaves seven grandsons, one granddaughter and 16 great grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Marie Kuhlmann, Fargo, eight nieces and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter, three brothers – Robert, Cyril and Michael and a sister, Marcella. Spangelo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Minnie Duppong
Philomena "Minnie" Miller Duppong, 87, New Salem, died Thursday, June 19, 2003 at a Bismarck Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, June 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church, New Salem, with the Father Chad Gion as Celebrant. Burial was in the St. Pius Cemetery, New Salem. Minnie was born June 10, 1916 in rural Glen Ullin, the daughter of Michael and Celestina (Steiner) Gartner. She grew up and was educated in rural Glen Ullin. She went to work in Glen Ullin. She married Ralph Miller June 15, 1937 in Glen Ullin. Following their marriage they farmed in the Crown Butte area for 24 years and then moved to New Salem where Minnie worked at the Sunset Café and as a cook at the school. Ralph died December 28, 1977.
She met William Duppong Sr. after her retirement. They were married April 23, 1984 at New Salem. She moved to Bill’s farm where they lived for several years until they moved to New Salem. They moved to an apartment in Glen Ullin in 2000 and in early August she entered the Elm Crest Manor in New Salem. She died June 19, 2003 at Medcenter One in Bismarck. She was a long time member of the Christian Mothers and loved to embroider and play cards. She is survived by her husband Bill, Glen Ullin, ND; two sons Duane (Lila) Miller, Westminster, CO and Donald (Marlene) Miller, Burnsville, MN and two daughters, Karen (Duane) Maier, New Salem and Vicki (Bryan) Hoesel, New Salem. Her grandsons are Kent, Todd and Dean Miller, Jesse, Jason and Jake Maier; Darren and Russ Hoesel. Her granddaughters are Michelle Walters, Theresa Brown, Kimberly Miller, Nancy Swank, Lisa Johnson and Sara Spickler. She has seven great grandchildren and two brothers, Frank Gartner, Mandan, ND and Al Gartner, Glen Ullin, ND and one sister, Mary Anderson, Dallas, Or. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph; a son Milton, a daughter, Laura; three brothers – Joe, John and Ed and two sisters, Agatha and Kate. Vesta Schultz
Vesta M. Schultz, 101, Glen Ullin, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, ND. Her memorial service was held Friday, June 20, 2003 at 11 a.m. MST at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Glen Ullin with Rev. Gabor Tamas officiating. In keeping with her lifelong passion for education, both as a teacher and as a student, Vesta has donated her body to the University of North Dakota School of Medicine. Interment will be held in the Glen Ullin Cemetery at a later date. Vesta Mae was the oldest of six children. She was born June 7, 1902 at Niagara, ND to George and Daisy (McCullough) Taylor. She was raised at Niagara and moved to Berthold. After living in Spokane, WA for many years she returned to Glen Ullin in 1921 to pursue a teaching career in a rural school north of Glen Ullin. She taught in rural schools for a number of years until she became instrumental in the creation of the Special Education Department at the Sacred Heart School. She served as its first teacher.
She graduated from Dickinson State College when she was in her 60s and was a member of the Elder-hostel for many years. She traveled extensively across the world, always learning new things. In 1966 she became the postmaster in Glen Ullin, a position she held until retiring in 1974. Vesta was involved in her community as a member and organizer of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Royal Neighbors, Women’s Fellowship, a long time Sunday school superintendent and teacher as well as other civic organizations. Vesta lived in her own home until she died June 17, 2003, 10 days after her 101st birthday. She had shared this home with her husband, Herman, who she married on January 3, 1922 in Minot, ND. They raised their three sons, Donald, Bill and Roger, in this home. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Roger and Donald, three brothers and two sisters. Vesta is survived by one son, William and his wife Louise, Billings, MT. Her grandchildren include Diane (Sini) Kengike; Phyllis Walker; William "Bill" (Sharon Fletcher) Schultz and Mary (John) Reichelt. Her great grandchildren are Sini and Noah Kengike, Andrew, Katherine and David Walker. She is survived by the children of her son, Donald. They include Don (Ella) Schultz, Jr. and Susie (Bob) McManemy. She has one step-granddaughter Peggy (John) Cypherd. Her great grandchildren include Donald III (Mary) Schultz; Heidi Simmon’s Melissa Wiggins and Stephanie Pohl. Her great great grandchildren are Donald Schultz IV; Briana and Mikaili Simmons; Savannah Wiggins and Christian Pohl. Also surviving her is her step great granddaughter, Bebee Mullen and her step great great granddaughter, Mercedes Mullen. In addition, survivors include Roger’s wife, Elvina Schultz, Bismarck, ND and their children Mark (Carol) Schultz; Brenda (Ron) Lipp; Vicki (Mac) Brown; Eric (Diane) Schultz; Wade (Lisa) Schultz and Meda (Shane) Ross. Her great grandchildren are Monica (Dale) Klein; Cerise (Larry) Estep; Jake, Chelsea, Sidney and Mackenzie Lipp; Luke and Cale Brown and Dustin and Russel Schultz. The great great grandchildren are Jacob and Elizabeth Klein. Throughout more than a century of years, Vesta has become an inspiration to all who meet her. She has been our guiding light. She has been the best cheerleader in our celebrations and the foundation in all of our challenges. She continued to pursue knowledge, encouraging diversity in thinking and acceptance in differences. Family was most important, with integrity and goodwill toward others as an integral piece. Vesta, our mother, our grandmother, aunt and friend will be missed greatly but she left with us the gift of live that will enhance us for years to come.

Vincent Bleth
Vincent Bleth, 78, Glen Ullin, ND died Friday, June 20, 2003 in the Marian Manor Healthcare Center in Glen Ullin. His funeral service was held at 10 a.m. MT Tuesday, June 24 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with Father Sebastian Schmidt, OSB as Celebrant. Vincent was born November 11, 1924 in rural Hebron, a son of Peter and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Bleth. He grew up and was educated in rural Hebron schools. He worked for various farmers in the Richardton area until his marriage to Gertrude Kokot June 28, 1948 at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Hebron. Following his marriage he worked for the railroad and later on several construction projects including the Heart Butte Dam, Oahe Dam and the Glendoe Dam in Wyoming. Vincent was engaged in custom combining and grain cleaning from the late 1950s until he retired in 1996. He enjoyed working with motors and building things, as well as playing the button accordion. He was a member of the Eagles and German Hungarian clubs. He entered the Marian Manor in August of 2000 where he has since lived. He died Thursday, June 20 at the Manor. He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter Melissa; one brother, four half brothers and five half sisters. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude, Glen Ullin; two daughters – Cheryl (Douglas) Boehm, Bismarck and Vivian Bleth, Glen Ullin; two sons – Lester, Glen Ullin and Dennis, Ridgeland, WI and eleven grand and seven great grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters Rose Fleck, Yakima, WA and Isabelle Guthmiller, Mandan, ND and two half brothers, Jake and Paul Messer, Washington. Spangelo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Anna Marie Steckler
Anna Marie Steckler, 85, Glen Ullin, ND died Tuesday, June 17, 2003 in Glen Ullin at the Marian Manor Healthcare Center. Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, June 21, 2003 at 10 a.m. MT at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with the Reverend Sebastian Schmidt, OSB, as the Celebrant. Anna Marie was born January 29, 1918, the daughter of Louie and Emma (Neiezie) Weber. She was raised and educated in the Judson area. She married William Steckler, Sr. November 20, 1939 at Glen Ullin. Following their marriage they settled in the Glen Ullin area where they farmed and operated the bus routes. She was involved with the hot lunch program at Sacred Heart School for many years and with the Glen Ullin Public School. Anna was a member of the Christian Mothers at Sacred Heart. She is survived by two sons – William and Donna, Glen Ullin and Jim and Doreen, Dickinson and one daughter, Annella Sahli, Chicago, IL. She also leaves nine grandchildren – Jamie Steckler, Stacy Steckler, Amber (Jason) Nordstrom, Corrine Sahli, Carmelle (Mike) Giblin, Christie (Mark) Zwart, Josh Steckler, Nicole Steckler and Brandon Stecker and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on May 27, 1987 and four sisters. Spangelo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
