Marjorie J. Hamilton
Funeral services for Marjorie J. Hamilton, 90, Minot, N.D., were held on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at First Lutheran Church, Rugby, N.D. Mrs. Hamilton died Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at Trinity Nursing Home where she had lived for the past year.,
Marjorie Joyce Curfman, daughter of Harvey and Ovedia Curfman was born on July 26, 1914.
On February 14, 1934, she married
Thomas Hamilton. They lived in Rugby most of their marriage. She was owner of a children’s clothing store for several years in Rugby. She was president of First Lutheran Church in 1954 and always active in the choir, ladies aid and other events of the church. Summers were spent at their lake cabin on Rugby Point, Lake Metigoshe. Early in their marriage, Marjorie and her husband owned a cattle operation south of Rugby at Girard Lake. Together, Marge and Tom built the Hamilton Motel in Rugby in 1962. Tom died September 1, 1967. Marjorie was occupied for most of her years after Tom’s death by caring for her disabled daughter, Gwen, who now lives at the Trinity Nursing Home in Minot.
She is survived by her children, Tom Hamilton, Lisbon, Gwenith Hamilton, Minot, Marsha (Wayne) Smogard, Fargo and Mark (Penny Alme) Hamilton, Minot; step-son, Jack Hamilton, California; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother Alden Curfman, Hickory, N.C.; and sister-in-law, Marlys Curfman. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Shirley, one brother, Otis “Bud” Curfman, parents, and a sister-in-law, Clarice Curfman.

Bregida Lacher
Funeral services for Bregida Lacher, 99, Lisbon, were held on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Lisbon. Father Andrew Dudzinski officiated. Mrs. Lacher died Saturday, August 14, 2004 in Lisbon Medical Center.
Bregida Lacher, daughter of John and Anna Marie (Schumaker) Vetter was born on July 17, 1905 in Napoleon, N.D. She grew up and attended school at Carson, N.D.
On November 8, 1923, she married
Sabastian (S.P.) Lacher. They farmed in Brisbane, Elliott and Fort Ransom. In 1948 they moved to Lisbon. She worked at the Lisbon Hotel for several years. He died in 1984. She entered the nursing home in 1999.
She is survived by three daughters, Rose (Harris) Mullins, Chadron, Neb., Kay (Dale) Vosburg, Oakes, Jo (Al) Lauro, Arizona City, Ariz.; one son, Philip (Phyllis) Lacher, Clitheral, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Norma Lacher, Lisbon; son-in-law, David Kapaun, Weslaco, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, two infant children, a son John, a daughter Elsie, a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Al Vosburg, Brian Lacher, Craig Lacher, Steve Kapaun, Glenn Kapaun, David Kapaun, Robert Korst, Steve Korst, and Rod Wentz.
Music was provided by organist Kathy Kwapinski and cantors were Chuck and Kris Long.
Interment at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Lisbon.

Allan L. Houglum
Funeral services for Allan L. Houglum, 80, Lisbon, were held on Thursday, August 19, 2004 in Aspelund Lutheran Church, Flom, Minn. Pastor Sandra Hollands officiated. Mr. Houglum died Saturday, August 14, 2004 in the North Dakota State Veterans Home, Lisbon.
Allan Lewis Houglum, son of Martin and Sena (Severtson) Houglum was born on March 31, 1924 near Audubon, Minn. As a child he moved with his family to the Flom community where he was raised. Allan was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the Aspelund Lutheran Church, Flom. He attended grade school at the Cormorant and Cheerful Nook schools. In 1942 he graduated from the Waubun High School. As a young man he moved to Minneapolis where he worked at General Mills. During World War II he entered the Merchant Marines and was stationed in the Pacific Theatre. After his discharge, he returned to the Flom area for a short time.
On May 18, 1946, he married
Betty Olson at Aspelund Lutheran Church. They moved to Everett, Wash. where he worked in a pulp plant for one year. They returned to the Flom-Waubun communities where they farmed and he worked for the American Crystal Sugar plant in Moorhead for 25 years. He retired from farming in the early 1980s. Allan lived in Fargo for a few years and has been a resident in North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon since the late 1990s.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Houglum, Waubun, Minn.; one son, Bradley, Waubun, Minn.; one daughter, Bonita (William) Corwin, Brooklyn Center, Minn.; five grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Gladys Houglum, Moorhead and Marjorie Houglum, Fargo. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Manley, Dennel, Robert, Joe and Raymond, two sisters, Pearl and Lucille and a daughter-in-law, Kim Houglum.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Gary Lunde, David Lunde, David Hanson, John Hanson, Lloyd Spielman and Ray Stende. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren and his friend, Robert White.
Music was provided by organist Carol Johnson and soloist Rebekah Houglum.
Military Honors provided by the Flom-Twin Valley VFW Post #3818.
Interment at First Lutheran Cemetery, Audubon, Minn.

Parker Randall Krog
Graveside services and interment for Parker Randall Krog, infant, were held on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at Oakes View Cemetery, Oakes, N.D. Pastor Harvey Pederson officiated. Parker was born and died Saturday, August 14, 2004 at MeritCare Hospital.
He is survived by his parents, Ron and Erin Krog, Fairmount, N.D.; grandparents, Chad and Sue Mahrer, Fairmount, Ronald and Rita Krog, Fergus Falls, Minn., Sue Wagoner, Fargo, Curtis Knutson, Gwinner; great-grandparents, Gerald and Helen Richter, Fergus Falls and Art and Delores Fladhammer, Fergus Falls.

Willis Paul Peterson
Willis Paul Peterson, Fargo, formerly Verona, N.D, died Monday, August 16, 2004 in Innovis Hospital.
He was born in Fargo, N.D. on October 31, 1921 to Arthur and Adeline (Lemna) Peterson. He graduated from high school in Verona, N.D. in 1939 and attended North Dakota State Agricultural College. He farmed on his parents’ farm near Verona.
Willis and Helen Johnson were married
in Verona on June 23, 1942. They farmed until 1964. In 1970 they moved to Fargo. He began working at Northern Improvement Company in Fargo. He retired from Northern Improvement in 1986 and was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral.
He did volunteer work for the North Dakota Election Board. Willis loved carpentry and his family believed there was nothing he couldn’t fix or build. He was a very patient and generous person.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of 62 years; two sons and four daughters; Bonnie (James) Magill, Verona, N.D., Cheryl (Terry) Jenkins, Dickinson, N.D., Steve (Becky) Peterson, Hannaford, N.D., Debbie (Rodney) Gentzkow, LaMoure, N.D., Kathy (Fred) Nesemeier, Fargo, N.D., and James (Patty) Peterson, Lisbon, N.D.; 19 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Evon) Peterson, Moorhead, Minn.; one aunt, Isabel Mische of Fargo and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clifford and Russell.
Funeral mass was held Friday, August 20, 2004, St. Mary’s Cathedral, Fargo.

Steve S. Hansen
Funeral services for Steven S. Hansen, 28, Salt Lake City, Utah, were held on Friday, September 17, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisbon. Reverend Norman Anderson and Reverend David Killeen officiated. Mr. Hansen died Friday, September 10, 2004 at Salt Lake City Regional Medical Center.
Steven S. Hansen, son of William and Janet (Groettum) Hansen was born on June 30, 1976 in Lisbon. He attended school in Lisbon and graduated in 1995.
Steve worked at Hansen’s Super Valu in Lisbon. He then moved to Fargo where he worked at Dakota Molding and Sunmart. Later he moved to Tampa, Fla. where he worked at Wal-Mart. Steve was presently living in Salt Lake City where he worked for J.C. Penney’s.
He is survived by his fiancee, Jodi Sand, Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter, Alexis, Barnesville, Minn.; parents, William and Janet Hansen, Lisbon; a sister, Brenda (Lyn) Lamb, Lisbon; and his grandmother, Louise Groettum, Forman.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Duffy Hansen, Jasen Hansen, Rick Glarum, Zachary Messmer, Fallon Kelly and Jason Kunze.
Music was provided by organist Lona Batie and special music by Alan and Julie Qual.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

Darrell Manley Seelig
Darrell Manley Seelig, 56, Gig Harbor, Wash. passed away September 1, 2004 at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Wash. after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at Yahn and Son Funeral Home in Auburn, Wash. Pastor William Gieck officiated.
Darrell Seelig, son of Manley “Duke” and Lorraine (Jorgenson) Seelig, Lisbon, N.D. was born on July 6, 1948 in Fargo, N.D.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968.
On October 13, 1969 Darrell married
Lori (Leighty) in Lisbon where they lived until they moved to Federal Way, Wash. in 1974. Together they raised three children. Lori died on September 26, 1997.
Darrell married
Janice (Bagley) on November 23, 2001 in Gig Harbor, Wash.
Darrell worked at Safeway in the Distribution Center in Bellevue, Wash. for 27 years.
He enjoyed family and friends, traveling, his home in Gig Harbor, the out doors, packing into the mountains and playing Santa at Christmas time.
He is survived by his wife, Janice, Gig Harbor, Wash.; a son, Shannan (Melanie) Sammamish, Wash., ; daughters, Angie (Mike) Babcock, Auburn, Wash., Leslie (Andrew) Corr, Federal Way, Wash.; mother, Lorraine Seelig; brothers, Dean (Doris), Boyd (Evelyn), Randy (Denise), Jerry (Rhanda), all of Lisbon; sister, Sherry (Mike) Koetz, Leonard; six grandchildren, Josh, Dylan, Karley, Katelyn, Carson and Jonathon all of Washington; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his first wife, Lori and his father, Manley.
Inurnment was at Mountain View Cemetery, Auburn, Wash.
