Aaron J. Sours
Funeral services for Aaron J. Sours, 27, Starkweather, ND, were held on Thursday, November 11, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisbon. Reverend Norman Anderson officiated. Mr. Sours died Friday, November 5, 2004 in rural Cooperstown.
Aaron J. Sours, son of John and Nancy (Olmsted) Sours was born on April 30, 1977 in Lisbon. He attended school in Lisbon and graduated from VCSU in 2000. On August 12, 2003, he married
Amy Anderson in Lisbon. Aaron was the head of the Science Dept. in the Starkweather School. He was president of NEA.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Sours, Lisbon; one daughter, Zoey; son, Zachary; his parents John and Nancy Sours, Lisbon; brother, David (Kari) Lisbon; and a sister, Lynette (Mitch) Elijah, Lisbon.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Jody Hoenhause, Butch Dick, Mr. D.J. Dockter, Mr. ElRoy Burkle, Mr. Phil Martin and Mr. Jerry Ford.
Music was provided by organist Jan Hansen and soloist Les Gibson.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon

Ellen Nelson
Funeral services for Ellen Nelson, 77, LaMoure, formerly Verona, were held on Saturday, November 6, 2004 at High Prairie Lutheran Church, near LaMoure. Reverend Susan Christian officiated. Mrs. Nelson died Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at the St. Rose Care Center.
Ellen Ketterling, daughter of Peter and Lydia (Just) Ketterling was born on March 4, 1927 at Wishek. As a child she moved with her family to the Grand Rapids, ND area where she attended school. After her schooling Ellen worked at the “Candy Store” and also for Gene Smith at the grocery store in LaMoure.
On October 5, 1952, she married
Ernest Nelson, Jr. (Sonny) at LaMoure. They lived in LaMoure until the spring of 1955, when they bought a farm north of Verona. Mr. Nelson died in November of 1987. Ellen continued to make her home on the farm until 1994, when she became a resident of the St. Rose Care Center in LaMoure.
She is survived by one son, Craig (Holly) Nelson, Verona; one daughter, Tammy Nelson, Lisbon; three grandchildren, six brothers, Ben Ketterling, Wilmar, MN, Elmer (Ruby) Ketterling, Leola, SD, Ervin (Marilyn) Ketterling, Marion, Herbert (Shirley) Ketterling, Greeley, CO, Wilbert Ketterling, Wheaton, MN and Raymond (Barbara) Ketterling, Billings, MT; and five sisters, Esther (Kenneth) Haugen and Norma (William) Kale, all of Verona, Irene (Gilbert) Hildahl and Katherine (Allen) Hodem, all of LaMoure and Sara (Bill) Peterson, Arvada, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, her parents, three brothers, Oscar, John and Albert and one sister, LeNore.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Butch Ketterling, Glenn Haugen, Sam Haugen, Larry Ketterling, Kevin Hodem and Kerry Ketterling.
Music was provided by organist Marlene Dahl.
Interment at High Prairie Cemetery, rural LaMoure.

Allan R. Groth
Funeral services for Allan R. Groth, 68, Sumter, SC were held on Thursday, November 11, 2004 at Westside Baptist Church, Sumter, SC. Reverend Mark Bourdeaux officiated. Mr. Groth died Monday, November 8, 2004 at Tuomey Healthcare System, Sumter, SC.
Allan R. Groth, son of Alfred and Estella (Berland) Groth was born in Enderlin.
Mr. Groth was a retired Major with the U.S. Air Force with 26 years of service. He was a recipient of the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross with 8 Oak Leaf Clusters, The Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with 24 Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze stars, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Device with two Oak Leaf Clusters. Mr. Groth was a member of the Special Operations Association, Delta Force, The Sumter Camera Club, Sumter Amateur Radio Association and was an avid sail plane pilot. He had a believers baptism at Westside Baptist Church in December 2003, where he attended.
He is survived by his wife Judith Laidler Groth, Sumter, SC; two sons, Jeff (Linda) Groth, Raleigh, NC and Kevin (Maria) Groth, Saginaw, TX; a daughter, Laura (Mark) Mossell, Sumter; five grandchildren; and a sister Berniece Grubb, Seattle, WA. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Ford and Anne Groth.
Honorary pallbearers for the funeral were members of the Special Forces Project Delta and Dr. Billy Clowney.
Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery
with full military honors.

Adelaide J. Johnson
Funeral services for Adelaide J. Johnson, 90, Rolla, MO, were held on Friday, November 12, 2004 at First Lutheran Church, Enderlin. Reverend Leon Zavadil officiated. Mrs. Johnson died Saturday, November 6, 2004 at Heritage Park Nursing Home, Rolla, MO.
Adelaide Card, daughter of Charles and Caroline (Bishop) Card was born on April 24, 1914 in Ryegate, MT. She graduated from Enderlin High School.
On April 4, 1935, she married
Raymond W. Johnson in Lisbon. They farmed near Enderlin. Adelaide had worked at Maryhill Manor in Enderlin. He died December 7, 1995.
She is survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Robert and a daughter, Shirley.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Maynard Torbenson, Ronald Torbenson, Donald Fernow, Rodney Fernow, Virgil Dagman and Duane Galbreath.
Music was provided by organist Shirley Hanson and soloist Jack Armstrong.
Interment at West St. Olaf Cemetery, rural Enderlin.

Robert C. Jordan
Funeral services for Robert C. Jordan, 73, Fairfield, CA, were held on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Fairfield. Reverend Todd Bertani officiated. Mr. Jordan died Monday, October 18, 2004.
Robert Charles Jordan, son of Charles and Amanda Jordan was born in Britton, SD and grew up in Cogswell. He attended school at Wahpeton School of Science and studied printing, following in the footsteps of his father, who was publisher of the Cogswell Enterprise.
He worked at the Richmond Independent Gazette and the Berkeley Gazette. His family moved to Fairfield in 1979 where he worked for the Vacaville School District and tended bar at the Vacaville and Fairfield Moose Lodges.
He was a decorated Korean War veteran and a lifetime member of the Korean War Veterans Alliance, the Loyal Order of Moose 861 in Fairfield, a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Suisun, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 2333, and an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Anne, Fairfield, CA; two daughters, Kim (Nick) Epperson, San Roman, CA and Julie (Jose) Loera, Fairfield and a sister JoAnne (Pete) Meyer, Ottertail, MN.
Interment at Fairmont Memorial Park.
Verne Sprunk
Funeral services for Verne Sprunk, 80, Leonard, were held on Thursday, November 18, 2004 at St. Peter Lutheran Church near Leonard. Reverend John Flaa and Reverend Ralph Sprunk officiated. Mr. Sprunk died Saturday, November 13, 2004 in Innovis Hospital, Fargo.
Verne Sprunk was born on January 9, 1924 in Walburg Township, rural Cass County. He attended Erbstoesser School.
On July 19, 1950, he married
Linda Zaeske. They lived on the family farm and retired from farming in 1985. He served on the board of directors for Cass County Farmers Union and local Farmers Union at Embden for many years. He was an active member with the Gideons. He is survived by his wife, Linda; two daughters, Sally Frantz, Lebanon, PA and Nancy (Thomas) Elstad, West Fargo; three sons, Gary (Ennet), Hawley, MN, Terry, Elbow Lake, MN and Randy (Sheila), Leonard;14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, a brother, Glenn (Edna), Enderlin and a sister Marion Hahn, Fargo. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Thomas, a brother, Earl and two sisters, Ella Schimming and Ethel Granger.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Mark Frantz, Paul Frantz, Bryan Elstad, Michael Elstad, Gary Sprunk, Thomas Sprunk and Alex Sprunk.
Music was provided by organist John Burnham and soloist David Piper .

Leland S. Lindholm
Funeral services for Leland S. “Lindy” Lindholm, 83, Shoreview, MN, were held on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Moundsview, MN. The Reverends Bruce Fredrickson and Richard Krogen officiated. Mr. Lindholm died Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at the Lake Ridge Care Center, Roseville, MN.
Leland S. Lindholm, son of Victor and Inga (Haugen) Lindholm was born on June 20, 1921 in rural Lisbon. He attended Aliceton School and graduated from Lisbon High School. He attended Wahpeton State School of Science before joining the Army Air Force. He served in the Mariana Islands with the 20th Air Force.
On June 12, 1949, he married
Dorothy Schmugge, of St. Paul, MN. He retired from the St. Paul Post Office in 1980.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one daughter, Sandra (Albert) Richmond; two son, Greg (Stephanie) Lindholm, Kevin (Diane) Lindholm; and four grandchildren. His area relatives include his niece, Jan (Duane) Hanson, Lisbon. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters, including Evelyn (John) Olson.
Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery
with honors.
Francis B. Gores
Memorial Services for Francis B. Gores, 74, Lisbon, were held on Thursday, November 18, 2004 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Bisbee. Father Andrew Dudzinski and Father Tom Graner officiated. Mr. Gores died Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Lisbon Area Health Services.
Francis B. Gores, son of Louis and Stella (Walsh) Gores was born on August 27, 1930 in rural Bisbee, ND. He attended rural Bisbee School. Francis helped on the family farm before working at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home. On April 11, 1953, he married
Donna Fritz, in Minot. They lived in Minot. In 1954 they moved to Crocus Township where he worked at a nearby sheep farm. In 1957 Francis worked for Simpson Well Drilling, Bisbee. In 1960 he started his own business, Gores Well Drilling. In 1970 they moved to Lisbon where he continued to operate his well drilling business. He also worked for Bell Farms. In 1978 he started Gores Salvage. He worked for Coal Gasification Plant and several gravel companies. He retired in 2000. He then worked part time at B and M Trucking, Gwinner Oil Co. and for Gary Hansen and Randy Huether. In 2004 he helped out at Bear Creek Construction.
He is survived by his wife Donna Gores, Lisbon; one son, Francis, Jr., Lisbon; four daughters, Marilyn Stensby, Lisbon, Colleen (Robert) Boozer, Hibbing, MN, Cheryl (Todd) Gregor, Lisbon, Sandra (Lyle) McNenny, Aberdeen; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five brothers, James, Lester, and Werner all of Egeland, Bill (Margaret), Franklin, WI, Larry (Janice), Bisbee; two sisters, Edna Drewel, Belle, MO and Pearl Kruger, Egeland. He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter and a sister Viola.
Honorary pallbearers for the funeral were his grandchildren, great-grandchildren family and friends.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon.
Music was provided by organist Cindy Hagel and soloist Amy Lyons.
Interment at Bisbee Cemetery, Bisbee.
