Edwin H. Anderson, 91

Edwin H. Anderson, 91, Wahpeton, N.D., formerly Geneseo, N.D., died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, Minn.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 12 at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, with the Rev. Jim Gustafson officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, March 11 at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be later in the spring at Bergen Lutheran Cemetery of Rural Lidgerwood, N.D.

Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Edwin Anderson was born on Jan. 1, 1919, on the Anderson Family Farm in Marboe Township, Sargent County, N.D., to Henning and Alma (Johnson) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church of Lidgerwood and attended country school in Marboe Township.

Edwin was united in marriage to Fern Freeman on June 19, 1942, at Bergen Lutheran Church. They lived on the Anderson Family Farm where he was a dedicated small grain, row crop and beef farmer. In September 2003, they retired from farming and moved to Wahpeton.

Edwin was an active member of Bergen Lutheran Church and served on the church council. In later years, he was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Veblen, S.D., and for the past six years attended Bethel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton.

Edwin is survived by: his wife of 67 years, Fern of Breckenridge; his daughters, Carol Anderson, Warren, Minn., Nancy (Tyler) Schmitz, Lake Orion, Mich.; his granddaughter, Abigail and her fiancé, Erik Sauro, Chicago, Ill.; his two nieces and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents and one brother, Herman.

Rodney Lloyd Walls, 58

Rodney Lloyd Walls, 58, Spanish Fork, Utah, died peacefully at home March 8, 2010.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 15 at Walker Family Mortuary, Main Street, Spanish Fork. Please come and share your memories.

He was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous, and a proud Vietnam Veteran.

He leaves behind: his wife, Ellen; daughter, Lindsey Loveless and her husband, Tyson; mother, Mardella Bergquist and her husband, Charlie; brothers, Michael, Bruce and Milton; and sister Brenda.

Connie Doll, 63

Connie Doll, 63, Wahpeton, N.D., died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at her residence in Wahpeton.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April, 3 at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, with the Rev. Morris W. Stephens Jr. officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 2 also at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home. There will be visitation one hour before the service on Saturday.

Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton, at a later date.

Connie was born April 1, 1946, at Powers Lake, N.D., the daughter of Hilding and Erma (Bladow) Johnson. She grew up in Wahpeton, where she graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1964. She attended North Dakota State School of Science and continued her education at Valley City State College, where she received her teaching degree. She started her teaching career at Colfax, N.D., (Richland 44), then at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, Minn., and for more than 20 years at Stanley, N.D. She retired in 2007 and returned to Wahpeton in 2008.

Connie is survived by: her two sisters and one brother, Ruth (Gary) Barth, Show Low, Ariz., Betty (Bernie) Johanson, Wahpeton and Ed Johnson, Alexandria, Minn.; two nieces and two nephews, Jamey (Donna), Stacey (Jay), Garvin (Melissa), Cheryl; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews; several aunts, an uncle and many friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, her father, Hilding, Feb. 15, 1984, and her mother, Erma, Oct. 18, 1996; and her grandparents.

Owen Shelstad, 73

Owen Shelstad, 73, Fargo, N.D., died Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at the VA Medical Center in Fargo. Funeral arrangements are pending with Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home.

Richard 'Dick' A. Jensen, 91

Richard 'Dick' A. Jensen, 91, Ashland, Ore., formerly of Abercrombie, N.D., died Nov. 7, 2010, at his residence. Funeral was held Nov. 14 at Grace Lutheran Church in Ashland. Burial was at Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Eagle Point, Ore.

Eileen Nelson Van Cleave, 52

Eileen Nelson Van Cleave, 52, Wahpeton, N.D., died Friday, March 12, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul, Minn.

Arrangements are pending with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Tillie Saulsbury, 90

Tillie Brayko Thurlow Saulsbury, 90, Mandan, N.D., formerly of Wahpeton, N.D., died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at the Mandan Living Center.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12 at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, with the Rev. Jim Gustafson officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, March 11 with a 7 p.m. family and friends sharing at the Vertin-Munson Wahpeton Funeral Home, and also visitation Saturday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be in the spring at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Dennis E. Myers, 68

Dennis E. Myers, 68, West Fargo, N.D., formerly Colfax, N.D., died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Triumph Health Care, Fargo, N.D.

Arrangements are pending with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Michael John Schmitt, 24

Michael John Schmitt, 24, Tuscaloosa, Ala., died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, in Greensboro, Ala.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 1 at Cheyenne (Wyo.) Hills Church with the Rev. Galen Huck officiating.

A reception at the Kiwanis Community House will follow the services.

Richard "Dick" Haire, 81

Richard "Dick" Haire, 81, died Feb. 25, 2011, at his home in Arizona City, Ariz.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 2 at St. Helens of the Cross Catholic Church in Eloy, Ariz., with the Rev. Juan Carlos Aguirre officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Ronald E. Jalbert

Funeral services for Ronald E. Jalbert, 68, were held Monday, Dec. 18, 2006 at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Mr. Jalbert died Thursday, Dec. 14 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

Ronald E. Jalbert, son of Lewie and Frances (Ludwig) Jalbert, was born September 20, 1938 in Fargo. He grew up in Grandin, ND and graduated from Grandin High School in 1956. He served in the Air National Guard from 1956-1962.

On August 6, 1965 he married Jane Gogolin. They moved to Sheldon, ND. They had three children. Ronald owned and operated Standard Oil Bulk Business in Sheldon. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Mizpah #39, the Lions Club, and the Sheldon City Council.

He later moved to Devils Lake, ND. On August 30, 1985 he married Bette (Miller) Brix. They had one child.

He is survived by his mother, Frances Jalbert, Grandin; his wife, Bette, Devils Lake, his children, Jeff (Tamara) Jalbert, Horace, ND, Jana (Brian) Bruhschwein, Fargo, Jason (LeeAnn) Jalbert, Dilworth, MN, and Justin Jalbert, Devils Lake; siblings, Russ (Geri) Jalbert, Grandin, Lynn (Margaret) Jalbert, Fargo, Bryan (Mary Ellen) Jalbert, Watertown, SD, Liz (Wayne) Hagemeister, Argusville, ND, and Daryl (Linda) Jalbert, Fargo, and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lewie Jalbert.

Interment at Grandin Cemetery, Grandin.

Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, was in charge of arrangements.
