Edith R. Lau
Funeral services for Edith R. Lau, 87, LaMoure, were held on Friday, October 15, 2004 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Verona. Reverend David Isaacson officiated. Mrs. Lau died Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure.
Edith Roth, daughter of Herman and Marion (Peterson) Roth was born on November 2, 1916 at Marion, N.D. Edith was baptized and confirmed at High Prairie Lutheran Church. She attended Gladstone Rural Township School near Marion, and later attended LaMoure High, LaMoure.
On February 12, 1935, she married
Walter Lau at Verona. They made their home near LaMoure until 1942, when they moved to LaMoure. Edith worked at various businesses in the LaMoure community before retiring in the early 1990s. Mr. Lau died in August of 1969. Edith was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Verona.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth (Judith) Lau, Landenberg, Pa; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Hazel (Jerome) Rasmusson, LaMoure; a son-in-law, Dallas Willey, LaMoure, and a sister-in-law, Helen Roth, Verona. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Lois, and infant son, Lawrence, her parents, a brother Charles and a grandson Jason Lau.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Dustin Willey, Dillon Willey, Travis Willey, Lindsey Willey, Derek Willey, Aaron Kratz, Ryan Kratz and Ben Willey.
Music was provided by organist Marlene Dahl and soloist Gwen Thielges.
Interment at Rosehill Cemetery, LaMoure.

Neil A. Devitt
Celebration of Life for Neil A. Devitt, 67, Silverdale, Wash., were held on Friday, October 15, 2004 at Silverdale Community Center, Evergreen Room, Silverdale, Wash. Mr. Devitt died Sunday, October 10, 2004 at Bremerton, Wash. of cancer.
Neil A. Devitt, son of Neil Edward and Hazel C. (Hoyt) Devitt was born on November 3, 1936 in Lisbon. She attended school in South Kitsap, Port Orchard, Wash. Neil served in the U.S. Army.
He was a welder at PSNS for 34 years. He retired from there in 1994. For the last 19 years he enjoyed helping others. He also enjoyed collecting cars.
He is survived by his companion, Virginia Mycon; sons, Darren Devitt, Kyle Devitt, Neil Devitt, Jr.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leo J. Devitt and Marlin Devitt, and his sister, Delores McKay.

Doris Huether
Doris Huether, 80, Lisbon, died on Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at Meritcare Hospital, Fargo. Her funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, at the First Baptist Church, Lisbon. Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes, is in charge of arrangements.
Raymond H. Slattum
Memorial services for Raymond H. Slattum, 79, will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at 1:00 p.m., at Preston Lutheran Church, rural Fort Ransom. Mr. Slattum died Monday, September 20, 2004 in Sonoita, Ariz.
Raymond Harold Slattum, son of Theodore and Mabel Slattum was born on July 6, 1925 in Preston Township. He lived in the Fort Ransom area and served in the army in the Southern Pacific during World War II. He was honorably discharged on February 12, 1946.
In 1953 Raymond moved his family to Seattle, Wash. where he worked as an aerospace mechanic for 30 plus years at Boeing.
He is survived by three sons, John Slattum, Arizona, Keith Slattum, Escondido, Calif., Paul Slattum, Washington; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Thelma Nelson, California and Hazel Berg, Fort Ransom.
A brief reception will follow with a family service at Preston Cemetery
afterwards.
Shirley M. Urbach
Funeral services for Shirley M. Urbach, 78, Fargo, were held on Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at St. John Lutheran Church, Fargo. Mrs. Urbach died Sunday, October 10, 2004.
Shirley M. Urbach was born on May 21, 1926 in Paddock Township, Minn. Shirley grew up in Fargo.
In 1944, she married
Elmo Lattimore. He died in 1946. She married
Theodore Urbach in 1947. They farmed near Elliott. They later moved to Lisbon. She moved to Fargo in 1992. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Fargo.
She is survived by two daughters and a son; Bonnie Alvstad, Fargo, Ronald (Cathy) Urbach, Richfield, Minn., Cheryl Urbach, Fargo; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and seven siblings. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Elmo and Theodore, her parents, a sister and two brother-in-laws.
Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.

Robert P. Henderson
Memorial services were held for Robert Paige Henderson on October 13, 2004, at Gilbert Presbyterian Church. Reverend Terry Palmer officiated. Mr. Henderson passed away suddenly at home in Gilbert, AR, on October 7, 2004.
Robert “Bob” P. Henderson, the only child of Dr. Claude and Viola (Boley) Henderson, was born in Davenport, Iowa, on August 30, 1919. Bob was raised in Jamestown, ND, and attended Jamestown College before moving to Portland, OR, to further his education. During WW II, he joined the Marine Corps and spent his four years of service as a recruiter in Portland. He later moved to San Francisco, CA, where he established “Bob’s Supply”, his own appliance business, which he successfully operated for over 40 years. He had two sons, Wayne and Bruce, during his first marriage. He married
Phyllis (Hilde) in 1984, who managed the business with him until they retired to Arizona in 1993.
Bob, who never met a stranger, was deeply loved by family and friends alike and will be dearly missed.
Bob is survived by his wife, Phyllis, and his extended family: Wayne (Patricia) Henderson, Vacaville, CA; and grandsons Adam and Kevin, Bruce Henderson, Concord, CA, Colleen (Richard Burke) Anderson, Vienna, VA, and granddaughters Kirsten and Diane, Brad (Joanna) Anderson, Cairo, Egypt, and grandchildren, Lars and Erika, and Joni Null, Gilbert, AZ and grandson Cody.
Music was provided by Susan Martinez and soloist Mary Beth Szabo.
Ashes will be buried at a later date with his grandparents in Mandan, ND.
Arlene E. Froemke
Arlene Evelyn (Hass) Froemke, 74, Lisbon died on Monday, October 25, 2004 at Lisbon Area Health Services.
Arlene was born October 28, 1929 in Valley City, ND to Emil and Evelyn (Ferguson) Hass. She grew up on a farm north of Valley City and attended rural and public schools.
On December 30, 1948 Arlene was united in marriage to Allan H. Froemke at the Assembly of God Church in Valley City.
They farmed east of Lisbon and were blessed with a family. In 1970 they moved and established a large home along highway 27 east of Lisbon. Arlene was a homemaker who enjoyed entertaining, singing and playing guitar and family activities. They moved into Lisbon in 1999.
Arlene is survived by her husband Allan, Lisbon and six children; Reginald (Susan) and daughter, Roberta, Lisbon; Bradley, Lisbon and children Jacqueline, Benjamin (Bobbiann) and Daniel; Melody Reams and son Joshua (Megan), Edina, MN; Brenda Ciccone and her husband Brian, Minneapolis, MN; Debra (Roland) Reinke, Lisbon and children Nathaniel, Zachary and Jessica; Terry (Jon) Carter and children Austin, Amanda (June) Pruess, Joseph and Jonathan.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and four sons; Dennis Dean (1950), Bruce Allan, (1973), Jeffrey Lee (1980), and Steven Dennis (1992). Jeffrey’s surviving children are Carrie (Jay) Mennis, Andrew and Lee Joy. Steven’s surviving children are Duffy (Becki), and Stephanie (Branden) Nielson.
Great-grandchildren gave Arlene much joy. They include Steven, Sierra, Chelsea, Brianna, Caleb, Bailey, Colby and Madison.
Arlene is also survived by two sisters, Eleanor (Donald) Senrick, Farmington, MN, JoAnn Korf, Valley City and one brother Emil (Donna) Hass, Jr., Valley City.
Arlene was a beautiful and loving spouse, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 28, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisbon with Pastors David Roberts and Pastor Norman Anderson presiding. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.
Pallbearers were Duffy Froemke, Roberta Froemke, Benji Froemke, Josh Reams, Nathaniel Reinke, Austin Reinke and Andy Froemke.
Music was provided by organist Jan Hansen and soloist Mary Madsen.

Rienhard E. Wahl
Funeral services for Rienhard E. Wahl, 67, Rutland, were held on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood. Reverend Joseph Crosswhite officiated. Mr. Wahl died Thursday, October 21, 2004 at his home in Rutland.
Rienhard E. Wahl, son of Emil and Katherine (Thurmer) Wahl was born on June 28, 1937 in Duerr Township, rural Lidgerwood. He grew up on a farm and graduated from Rutland High School.
In January of 1974, he married
Tracey Lawrence. They lived on a farm near Forman. In 1984 he moved to Rutland, where he has lived since. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and the Sodbusters at Fort Ransom.
He is survived by a brother, Maynard Wahl, Moscow, Idaho; sister, Martha (Phillip) Monson, Henrietta, MN, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Clayton McLaen, Dennis Pherson, Roger Brekke, Edwin Erickson, Roger McLaen and Larry Nelson.
Special music was sung by Curt Brownlee.
Interment at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, Lidgerwood.
