John D. Baasch
Memorial services for John D. Baasch, 93, Fargo, formerly Page, ND, were held Sunday, October 24, 2004 at Riverview Place, Fargo. Funeral services were held Monday, October 25, 2004 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Page. Mr. Baasch died Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at Villa Maria, Fargo.
John David Baasch, son of Detlef (Dave) and Clara (Jungnitsch) Baasch was born on October 8, 1911 in Tower City. He grew up in Lake Township, Cass County, where he attended Cass County School #105, called the Kelly School.
On September 4, 1937, he married
Lois Melissa Bayley in Valley City. They bought farmland west of Page, building their own home there in 1949 and farming for 43 years. During the off-season of farming, John did carpentry with his brothers and father. He was Lake Township Assessor for many years and also served on the council of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Page.
In 1973, he retired from farming In 1984, John and Lois moved from the farm to an apartment in Page, continuing to spend their winters at Llano Grande RV Resort, Mercedes, TX as they had done since retirement. In May of 2000, they moved to Riverview Place, Fargo. On October 7, 2004 he moved to the Villa Maria.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Cleo (Ralph) Thompson, , Page, Clarice (Vic) Rylander, Mercedes, TX, J. Gayland (Susan) Baasch, Page, Lori (John) Satrom, Clifford, ND, Rodney (Kim) Baasch, Bend, OR; 16 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clayton, Enderlin, William (Lorraine), Page; five sisters, Freida Wagenman, Yakima, WA, Lucille Stebbins, Washburn, ND, Devere (Bob) Swart, Valley City, Vada (Juel) Sands, Ojibwa, WI, Alice Winn, Ryderwood, WA; and a sister-in-law, Harriet Baasch, Page. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Albert, Henry, Fred, Richard and a sister, Lois (Edward) Moug.
Interment at Page Cemetery, Page, ND.

Matt Scherr
Funeral services for Matt Scherr, 80, Lisbon, were held on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at the ND Veterans Home, Lisbon, ND. Father Andrew Dudzinski officiated. Mr. Scherr died Monday, October 25, 2004 at ND Veterans Home, Lisbon.
Matt Scherr, son of Clements and Josephine (Welk) Scherr was born on September 24, 1924 in Linton. He attended rural Emmons County School. Matt served in the US Army Air Corp. In September 1948, he married
Alvina Geffre in Strasburg, ND. Matt farmed near Edgeley and worked as a mechanic. In about 1979 he moved to Lisbon where he worked as a mechanic.
He is survived by three daughters, Cerella (Bill) Gandy, Colorado Springs, CO, Coradine Scherr, Denver, CO, Jacqueline Grace, Bismarck; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence (Bertha) Strasburg; two sisters, Lillian Kinonen, Vancouver, WA and Betty Malancon, Lafayette, LA. He was preceded in death by one son, Richard, grandson, Jeff Hehr, three brothers, Edwin, Mike, Joe and two sisters, Regina and Eva.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Allen King, Jake Reuter, Kristie Wheeler, Marty Muscha, Diane Gamache and Matt Huffman.
Music was provided by organist Borge Bohlken and soloist Sylvia Holmstrom.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

Muriel M. Skally
Funeral services for Muriel M. Skally, 86, St. Paul, MN formerly of LaMoure, were held on Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at The Cathedral of St. Paul, St. Paul, MN. Mrs. Skally died Monday, October 4, 2004 at the Episcopal Church Home.
Muriel M. Skally was the daughter of Susan (Welu) and Andrew Mangin.
She married
William F. Skally. Mrs. Skally clerked at Donaldson’s. She was a communicant of the Cathedral Church, St. Paul.
She is survived by her children, Mary Jean Harp, Victoria, TX, Nancy Rizzo, Swampscott, MA, William J. Skally and Cynthia Skally, St. Paul; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Shirley Burger; and a brother, Milton Mangin. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Skally, her parents, and a grandson.
Interment at Guardian Angels Cemetery, Oakdale, MN.

Gloria M. Amerman
Mass of Christian burial for Gloria M. Amerman, 66, Forman, ND, were held on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Cogswell. Reverend Father Franklin Miller was the celebrant. Mrs. Amerman died Monday, October 25, 2004 at her home.
Gloria M. Hanson, daughter of Edward and Hilda (Berquist) Hanson was born on October 12, 1938 in Milnor. She grew up and attended school there and graduated from Milnor High School in 1956. During the summer of 1959 she took a job with the A.S.C.S. office in Fargo and continued to work there until transferring the Forman office that fall. She remained with them until retiring in 1994.
On January 21, 1964, she married
John “Jack” Amerman, in Wheaton, MN. They lived in Forman until moving to Cogswell in 1980. In 1996 they returned to Forman. Gloria served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a C.C.D. teacher for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Amerman, Forman; ten children, Jackie (Mike) Gaylord, Houston, TX, Donald (Joey) Amerman and Joseph Amerman, both of Fargo, Shawn (Arne) Kujanson, Forman, Mary McCleery, Fargo, Kari (George) Samus, Wichita Falls, TX, Mike (Tina) Amerman, Fargo, David (Kimbra) Amerman, Brooklyn Center, MN, Dean Amerman and Dale Amerman, both of Forman; 13 grandchildren; a brother, Rodger (Ursula) Hanson, Milnor; sister, Janice (George) Thompson, Lisbon; two half-sisters and a half-brother. She was preceded in death by parents and a half-sister.
Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Forman.

Michael J. Davis
Funeral mass for Michael J. Davis, 80, Lisbon, formerly Belcourt, ND, were held on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Belcourt. Father Mark Wheelan S.O.L.T. was the celebrant. Mr. Davis died Wednesday, October 13, 2004 in the ND Veterans Home, Lisbon.
Michael James Davis, son of Norbert and Christine (Flette) Davis was born on May 3, 1924 in Ebb & Flow, Manitoba, Canada. He attended elementary school in Ebb & Flow until he moved with his family to Belcourt and continued schooling there and also in Chamberlain, SD. Mike joined the C.C.C. Program in Nebraska and later joined the army on the 29th of October 1943. He was in the Army for about 12 years. While serving in WW II, he receive awards including, Philippine Liberation Medal, a bronze service star, Asiatic Pacific Service medal, good conduct medal and a victory medal. He held the rank of Corporal and was discharged on the 23rd of January 1946 in Fort Lewis, WA. He reenlisted into the Army in Spokane, WA and served two more tours and was discharged in 1951.
He married
Dora Raisch in Minneapolis, MN. Mike worked several years on construction in the Minneapolis area. He was a charter member of the Lilley-Dionne American Legion Post #262 and VFW Post #4516.
He is survived by daughters, Shirley Ann Green, Malmo, MN and Agnes Davis, Bemidji, MN; son, Dick Schroeder, Belcourt; several grandchildren; sisters, Ann Myers, Belcourt, and Christine Knight, Belcourt; brother, Pat Davis, Belcourt. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and four sisters.
Pallbearers are Arthur Green, Michael Thompson, Lloyd LaBelle, Jr., Alan LaBelle, Ryan Davis, Mike Keplin, Steven Myers, Jr., and Lawrence Myers.
Honorary bearers are family and friends.
Special music by Dicky Schroeder, Randy Davis, Joe Parisien and Ryan Keplin.
Military honors by the Belcourt American Legion Post #262.

Wayne F. Groth
Funeral services for Wayne F. Groth, 78, Halstad, MN, formerly Fargo and Nome, ND, were held on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at St. Petri Lutheran Church, rural Nome. Reverend Bradley Edin officiated. Mr. Groth died Monday, October 25, 2004 at Halstad Living Center.
Wayne F. Groth, son of Perrie A. and Elsie (Brauer) Groth was born on March 13, 1926 in Minneapolis, MN. He attended rural Nome School. He was in the US Army from 1944-1946, stationed in Germany.
On June 10, 1950 he married
Elaine Schimming in Fargo.
On July 17, 1981, he married
Joanne Bartholomay Little, in Fargo. Wayne worked for the Fargo Fire Department from 1950 to March 1, 1987 when he retired. They then moved to rural Nome. He entered the Nursing Home in April of 2004. Wayne was a member of the Enderlin VFW, Fargo and Valley City Eagles, past President of Fargo Aerie, Past Dakota State Secretary and Past North Central Region President.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Groth, Fargo; one son, David (Charlene), Fargo, one daughter, Debra (Michael) Crocker, Hillsboro; three step-daughters, Deborah Little, Carmichael, CA, Pamela (Wayne) Rud, Fargo, Brenda (Larry) Freyholtz, Fargo; two step-sons, Brian (Mari) Little, Moorhead, Brent Little, Nashville, TN; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Clayton, (Virginia), St. Louis.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Andy Hoel, Vernon Huseby, Gerald Nelson, Daniel Baarstad, Marvin Reinke and Greg Reinke.
Music was provided by organist Loretta Ussatis and soloist Sylvia Schlagel.
Military honors by the Enderlin VFW Rifle Squad and the Nome American Legion.

Ephraim G. Loomer
Funeral services for Ephraim G. Loomer, 83, Enderlin, formerly Sheldon, were held on Thursday, November 4, 2004 at Immanuel United Methodist Church, Sheldon. Reverend Duane Ferrie officiated. Mr. Loomer died Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin.
Ephraim G. Loomer, son of Vernon and Adelaide (Cronin) Loomer was born on August 2, 1921 in Lisbon. He attended school in Anselm. He served in the US Army.
On April 19, 1947, he married
Geraldine L. Lambert in Sabin, MN. They lived in Sheldon where Ephraim owned and operated Loomer’s Garage until retiring in 1977. He had been the Mayor of Sheldon, a member of Sheldon American Legion and Sheldon Lions Club. She died June 28, 1996.
He is survived by three sons, Butch (Janet), Sheldon, Charles (Bonnie), Enderlin, Jamie, West Fargo; one daughter, Vicki Sandvig, Fargo; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Dorothy Pilgrim, Rapid City, SD.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Jayson Loomer, Adam Sandvig, Matthew Sandvig, Clifford Salzwedel, Danny Loomer and Vern Spitzer.
Music was provided by organist Carole Bjugstad and soloist Don Stansbery.
Interment at Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon.
