Duane A. Finzel
Funeral services for Duane A. Finzel, 75, Enderlin, were held on Thursday, January 20 at First Lutheran Church, Enderlin. Reverend Leon Zavadil officiated. Mr. Finzel died Friday, January 14, 2005 at his home in Enderlin. Duane A. Finzel, son of Arthur and Olive (Lein) Finzel was born on May 13, 1929 in Columbia, ND. He graduated from Enderlin High School.
On September 1, 1967, he married
Shirley Herzog Martin, in Sisseton, SD. He was Chief of Police in Enderlin from 1960 - 1980. He was presently working part-time at the Enderlin VFW. She died February 3, 1978.
He is survived by three daughters, Kandice (Grant) Simmons, Sand Springs, OK, Kristie (Tim) Entringer, Bismarck, Karen Royce, Hibbing, MN; three sons, Kurt Martin, Fergus Falls, Kirby Martin, Jamestown, Kevin Martin, Fargo; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, and a brother, Harold.
Music was provided by organist Shirley Hanson and special music by Benjamin Rinowski.
Interment at Enderlin Cemetery, Enderlin.

Glen G. Lemieux, Sr.
Glen G. Lemieux, Sr., LTC. Ret., 76, of Winter Park, FL passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2004.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Merle Berry Lemieux; son, Keith B. Lemieux, Windermere; grandchildren, Amber, Scott, Jeffery, Stephen, Jennifer; and sisters, Alice (Harry) Dalos, Enderlin, Dorothy (Jack) Hanna, Lisbon, and Lois (Harlan) Carter, Sheldon.
Graveside services were held Monday, December 27, 2004 at Glen Haven Memorial Park, Winter Park, FL with military honor guard present.
Glen was born at Lisbon August 31, 1928 to Henry and Leona (Sullivan) Lemieux. Glen attended St. Aloysius School, graduated from Lisbon High School and served in the Army during the occupation of Japan and in the Korean War conflict. He remained in the reserve and retired at Lt. Colonel.
Glen attended mason school and worked for Merle's brother in Alabama before moving to Florida to work as mason at Cape Canaveral (Kennedy). He then established his own Lemieux Masonry and became very successful contractor.
Glen was active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church; and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Father Michael Hughes officiated at his graveside services.
Glen retired in the summer of 2004 and had a four month struggle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Glen Jr. and brother Vernon . He will be missed by family, friends and relatives.
There will be a funeral memorial Mass at St. Aloysius Catholic Church at Lisbon on Monday, January 24 at 11:00 a.m.. The family invites you to come to the service and to join us for lunch at the church fellowship room in the basement following the service.
Robert D. Olson
Funeral services for Robert D. Olson, 79, Ottertail, MN, were held on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Lisbon. Reverend Norman Anderson officiated. Mr. Olson died Thursday, January 6, 2005 at Ottertail Nursing Home.
Robert D. Olson, son of Richard and Augusta (Nelson) Olson was born on August 13, 1925, in Lisbon. He attended school in Lisbon.
On June 1, 1948, he married
June Kennedy in Fingal. They farmed near Lisbon until 1979. In 1976 they moved into Lisbon. They moved to Minnesota in 1990.
He is survived by his wife, June, Richville, MN; two daughters, Lynnett (John) Otterson, Lisbon, Cynthia (Joseph) Murray, Fergus Falls, MN; one son, Bryon (Stacy) Richville, MN; 11 grandsons; three great-grandsons; two brothers, LeMoyne (Margaret), Mesa, AZ and Charles (Ruth), Fargo. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Kenneth Olson, Rodney Olson, Lyle Olson, Dick Bleecker, Greg Olson, Brent Olson and Richard Olson.
Music was provided by organist Jan Hansen and soloist Joan Montgomery.
Interment at Zion Cemetery, rural Lisbon.

Roger L. Wavra
Memorial services for Roger L. Wavra, 57, Loveland, CO, were held at Zion Lutheran Church. Reverend Cindy Wolf officiated. Mr. Wavra died Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at Hospice Care Center.
Roger L. Wavra, son of Ralph Earl and Gladys (Johnson) Wavra was born on July 23, 1947 in Fargo. He graduated from High School in Rolla, ND. He attended Mayville State College and graduated from Valley City State College. He was a contractor in the area building and remodeling homes. He moved to Loveland, CO in the mid ‘70s.
He is survived by his mother, Gladys Wavra, Enderlin; sister LaRon (Dale) Croft, Dayton, NV; aunt Ida Frietag, Maryhill Manor, Enderlin and many cousins.
Cremation was completed.

Ida O. Moberg
Funeral services for Ida Moberg, 89, Moorhead, MN, were held on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 in Bottolfson Chapel, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN. Mrs. Moberg died Saturday, January 8, 2005 at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Ida O. Hanson, daughter of Paul and Nellie (Eggen) Hanson was born on March 31, 1915 near Kathryn, ND. She attended grade school there and in 1927 moved with her family to Kintyre, ND. She attended school in Kintyre through her freshman year of high school and in 1931 moved to Sanborn, ND where she graduated from high school in 1933. She worked in the Sanborn lumberyard. In 1935 her brother started a general store in Sanborn. They operated the store for seven years. She moved to Fargo and lived there with her older sister.
Ida started working for Sears and soon became credit manager for both the main store and also Sears Farm Store.
In 1948, she married
Willard Moberg. They lived in Moorhead where Willard was employed by Stenerson Lumber Company. After they retired they spent summer months at Lake Lida and the winter months at their home in Moorhead.
She is survived by two brothers, Clifford, Austin, TX and Morgan, Cleveland, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings Hubert and Elfie.
Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.

Nora A. Dafoe
Funeral Mass for Nora Dafoe, 89, Fargo, formerly of Valley City, was held on Saturday, January 15, 2005 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Valley City. Mrs. Dafoe died Monday, January 10, 2005 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Nora Agnes Carroll, daughter of John and Selma (Anderson) Carroll was born on November 12, 1915 at Pleasant Lake, near Rugby, ND. She graduated from high school in Hamar, ND and went onto receive her Bachelor of Education Degree at Valley City State Teachers College, where she received the Outstanding Woman Student Award in 1949. She was also President of the Valley City State Teachers College Alumni Association. She received her Masters’ Degree in Elementary Counseling from the University of North Dakota.
In 1936, she married
Arthur Wilson Dafoe in Valley City. The family moved to Valley City in 1948 where Nora was employed by the Valley City Public School System where she taught fourth grade for 14 years and was an elementary guidance counselor for 16 years. Nora started the elementary guidance program in North Dakota. She received the Glenn Dolan Counseling Award, a Certificate of Merit from Valley City State University and was listed in the Personalities of the West. Art and Nora retired in 1981, spending summers at Union Lake in Erskine, MN and winters in Fountain of the Sun in Mesa, AZ. Art died August 12, 2003 and Nora moved into Waterford at Harwood Groves in Fargo. Nora belonged to the following organizations: Delta Kappa Gamma, Newman Club, St. Catherine’s Altar Society, League of Women Voters, Community Club and many musical groups.
She is survived by her children, Avis (Thomas) Klinkhammer, Valley City, Peggy (Dale) Koppelman, Grand Forks, Dennis (Darlene) Dafoe, Mesa, AZ and Carroll (Ken) Berntson, Fargo; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Gertrude Robertson, San Jose, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, three sisters and one infant grandson.
Interment at St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery
in the spring.

Andrew Johs
Funeral Mass for Andrew Johs, 95, Napoleon, ND, was held on Saturday, January 15, 2005 in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon. Mr. Johs died Tuesday, January 11, 2005 in Napoleon.
Andrew Johs, son of Johann and Johanna (Schwartzenberger) Johs was born on December 10, 1909 on his parent’s farm in Shell Butte Township of Logan County, ND. Andrew was 16 when his father died so he assisted his mother in the farm’s operation.
On October 25, 1932, he married
Mary Ann Schmidt, St. Boniface Catholic Church, near Napoleon.They moved to a farm southwest of Napoleon and lived there for 45 years. He later moved to Napoleon and for the past year had been a resident at Napoleon Care Center. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish, 45 year member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, served as a trustee, and served 10 years in church choir. He served on Fargo Diocesan Development Program and various church committees. Andrew joined the Jamestown Knights of Columbus, later belonging to the Napoleon Council where he was a member for 36 years. He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus and a third degree Knight. He was a member of Napoleon Golden Age Club, Logan County Farmers Union, Logan County Area Soil Conservation Committee, Weigel School Board, Red Cross Fund Drive, Logan Home for the Aged and Logan Historical Society.
He is survived by six sons, Hilbert (Kathleen), Wayne, NE, Perry (Carol), Blaine, MN, Joe (Judy), Bismarck, Albert (Mary), Bismarck, Myron, Lisbon, Marty, Gackle; two daughters, Viola (Chris) Leier, Linton, Sally (Jerry) Feist, Big Lake, MN; 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Adam (Sally), Napoleon; and two sisters, Mary Ann Weigel, Napoleon and Johanna Horner, Napoleon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann, one son, Leo A. Johs, one grandson, his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Interment at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, near Napoleon.

Arne L. Brantseg
Funeral services for Arne L. Brantseg, 84, Lisbon, were held Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at the North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon. Mr. Brantseg died Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at SCCI Hospital, Fargo.
Arne Brantseg was born April 2, 1920, at Sisseton, SD, to Olander and Minnie (Johnson) Brantseg. He graduated from Central High School in Fargo.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked as an airplane mechanic.
Arne has lived at the North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon, since 1991.
