Alice R. Phipps
Funeral services for Alice Ruth Kraft Phipps, 95, Enderlin, ND, were held on Friday, February 25, 2005 at Armstrong Funeral Home, Enderlin. Reverend Duane Ferrie officiated. Mrs. Phipps died Sunday, February 20, 2005 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin.
Alice Kraft, daughter of Henry and Anna (Denison) Kraft was born on December 28, 1909 in Enderlin. She graduated from Enderlin High School.
On August 28, 1934, she married
Ross Phipps in Enderlin. They lived in Fargo. He died in 1972. In 1990 Alice moved to Birmingham to live with her daughter. She moved to Maryhill Manor in 2001.Alice volunteered with the Great Plains Food Bank in Fargo, was a Camp Fire Girls Leader, a member of Fargo Women’s Club and volunteered at Rosewood on Broadway where she developed a craft room. She was active in Fargo United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Ross (Linda), Vienna, VA, Daniel, Orono, MN; one daughter, Margaret (Don) Stefanson, Birmingham, AL and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ed and two sisters, Elmira Kopps and Edna Douglas.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Nielson.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Dan Phipps, Ross Phipps, Don Stefanson, Bruce Poulson, Steve Poulson, LeRoy Ernst, Fred Kraft and John Voldal.
Music was provided by organist Verna Armstrong and soloist Lynette Schmitz.
Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.

Margareta M. Steiger
Funeral services for Margareta M. Steiger, 74, Lisbon, ND, were held on Thursday, February 24, 2005 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fargo. Mrs. Steiger died Sunday, February 20, 2005 in the North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon.
Margareta Baumstarck, daughter of Adam and Juliana (Vetter) Baumstarck was born on March 25, 1930 on a farm east of Linton, ND. She attended rural school in the area. She moved to Bismarck in 1953 and began work at St. Alexis Hospital.
On June 27, 1956, she married
Alfred E. Steiger in St. Mary’s Church, Bismarck. The couple lived there until 1958 when they moved to Fargo. She was a daycare provider, and also provided foster care and in-home care in their home. They couple moved to Lisbon in March 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred, Lisbon; one brother, Adam (Cecilia) Baumstarck, Linton; three sisters, Sr. Leona Baumstarck, Richardton, ND, Kenegunda (Leo) Unser, Napoleon, ND and Juliana (Val) Malsom, Ipswich, SD; three sisters-in-law, Kathyren Baumstarck, Lowell, WY, Rose Baumstarck, Bismarck and Beverly Baumstarck, Bismarck and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and five brothers.
Interment at Holy Cross North Cemetery, Fargo.

Olga E. Kelly
Funeral services for Olga E. Kelly, 89, Lisbon, were held on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Englevale, ND. Reverend David Isaacson officiated. Mrs. Kelly died Saturday, February 19, 2005 at Parkside Lutheran Home, Lisbon.
Olga E. Kelly, daughter of Ludwig Herman and Maria Catherine (Hansen) Jensen was born on August 27, 1915 in Verona. She graduated from Hanson High School in 1933. (Rural Englevale, ND.)
On August 24, 1938, she married
James (Doc) Kelly, in Englevale. They farmed near Englevale. Olga worked for Orrin Streich Potato Warehouse, Oakes Nursery, Dahlgren, Co., and cooked at the Verona School. They moved to Lisbon in 1982. He died in 1983.
She was preceded in death by six sisters, Mary, Tillie, Margaret, Mary, Katie, and Anna and three brothers, Herman, Sonke and Nick.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Rick Thompson, Steve Thompson, Gary Rufsvold, Monty Ballinger, Jeff Hagen and Mark Kraft.
Music was provided by organist Marlene Dahl and soloist Joan Montgomery.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

Robert N. Petrich
Funeral services for Robert N. Petrich, 71, Fargo, were held on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at Elim Lutheran Church, Fargo. Mr. Petrich died Friday, February 18, 2005 at Veterans Affair Memorial Center, Minneapolis, MN.
Robert N. Petrich, son of Anne M. (Newgard) and George R.J. Petrich, Sr. was born on November 18, 1933. He attended country grade school, east of Sheldon and graduated from Enderlin High School in 1952. He served in the Navy from 1952 to 1956, stationed in Alaska and Japan.
On September 23, 1956, he married
Bonnie Jean Johnson in Lisbon. They farmed east of Sheldon until 1963 when they moved to Fargo. Robert worked for Goodrich Tire, Goodyear Tire and the ND State Veterinarian. In 1967, he started working for Brown-Wilbert Vault Company and was employed until 1996. He was a member of the Fargo American Legion Post #2, Eagles Club, and the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; son, Terry (Cindy); daughter, Brenda (Kenny) Lenoue, all of Fargo; five grandchildren; and a brother, George, Sheldon. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Interment at Milnor Lutheran Cemetery, Milnor.

Judy Rath
Funeral services for Judy Rath, 58, Valley City, were held on Friday, February 25, 2005. Mrs. Rath died Sunday, February 20, 2005 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Judy R. Crowe, daughter of Raymond Herbert and Rose Mae (Davenport) Crowe was born on March 12, 1946. She live with her family and attended school in Valley City. She later moved with her family to LaMoure where she completed her education.
On May 24, 1964, she married
Alvin Rath in Bismarck. The couple lived in Bismarck, then later at Wahpeton for ten and one half years, then Wyndmere for eight years and then moved to Valley City in 1994. Judy operated a children’s daycare in Valley City.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin Rath, Valley City, Two sons, Alvin Rath, Jr., Little Falls, MN and Alan Rath, Round Up, MT; three daughters, Kay (Joe) Keppers, Long Prairie, MN, Laura Rath, Valley City and Nancy Rath, Valley City; four grandchildren; six brothers, (Raymond (Penny) Crowe, Ravena, OH, Charles (Mary) Crowe, Glyndon, MN, Lawrence (Mary) Crowe, Valley City, Joel (Wanda) Crowe, Valley City, Bruce (Joyce) Crowe, Alexandria, MN and Michael (Louise) Crowe, Casper, WY; and four sisters, Janet Hehr, LaMoure, Charlotte Rath, Hickson, Susan (Roger) Brinklow, West Fargo and Margaret Schwab, Englevale. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Bobby Crowe, one sister, Kathleen Bellon and brothers-in-law, Andy Bellon, Gary Schwab and Harold Rath.
Interment at the Wing Cemetery, Wing, ND.

Alexander Rotenberger
Funeral services for Alexander Rotenberger, 91, Lisbon, ND, were held on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisbon. Reverend Norman Anderson and Reverend David Killeen officiated. Mr. Rotenberger died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Parkside Lutheran Home, Lisbon.
Alexander Rotenberger, son of John and Barbara (Whittman) Rotenberger was born on July 3, 1913 in Russell, KS. He attended school in Casey Township, rural Lisbon.
On May 10, 1936, he married
Ida D. Klein in Lisbon. They farmed near Lisbon in Big Bend Township. In 1960 they moved into Lisbon. Alex continued to farm and did some trucking. In 1962 he began working for Melroe Mgf. He retired in 1978. He received the Seim-Forred Conservation Award in 1982 and the Ransom County Agriculturist of the Year Award. Alex served on Big Bend School Board, Big Bend Telephone Co. Board and the Church Board of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She died October 20, 2003.
He is survived by three sons, Charles (Gwen), Lisbon, Ronald, Milnor, Bill, Ludlow, SD; two daughters, Janice (Terry) Urbach, Lisbon, Mary (Ed) Stroh, Stirum; fifteen grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four brothers Fritz (Mavis), Lisbon, Victor (Mabel), Lisbon, Ted (Lois), Henning, MN, Ed (Mary), Detroit Lakes; four sisters, Sarah Sutton, Waterloo, IA, Freida Hansen, Auburn, WA, Ilene Schlader, Oakes, and Beverly (Wayne) Jorgenson, Valley City. He was preceded in death by siblings, Jack, Emanuel, Kate and Elfie.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Doug Rotenberger, Gary Rotenberger, David Rotenberger, Jeff Rotenberger, Chad Rotenberger, Michael Urbach, Todd Urbach, Andy Stroh, Dylan Krueger and Steve Rotenberger.
Music was provided by organist Jan Hansen and soloist Charlene Rondestvedt.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

Mary M. Lau
Funeral services for Mary M. Lau, 88, Verona, ND, were held on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Verona. Reverend David Isaacson officiated. Mrs. Lau died Saturday, March 5, 2005 in her home.
Mary Mae Zieman, daughter of Reinhold and Helen (Smith) Zieman was born on August 8, 1916 at Oakes. She grew up and attended rural school near Oakes.
On November 8, 1933, she married
Foster John Lau at LaMoure. They made their home and farmed near LaMoure for ten years. In 1943, they moved to a farm near Verona. Foster died in 1966. Mary worked at the LaMoure Community Hospital and the Oakes Good Samaritan Center. After her retirement, Mary continued to live on the farm until her death. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Verona.
She is survived by a son, Richard (Shirley) Lau, Verona; two daughters, Donna (Robert) Henrickson, Albert Lea, MN and Judy (James) Seifert, Scottsdale, AZ; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Foster, her parents, two brothers Paul and August and one great-grandson.
Pallbearers for the funeral were her grandsons, Jeffrey Lau, Dale Henrickson, Dan Henrikson, Jay Henrikson, Brian Seifert and Thomas Seifert.
Music was provided by organist Marlene Dahl and pianist, Marsha Huether.
Interment at Rosehill Cemetery, LaMoure.

Sister Patrick Killoran
Funeral services for Sister Patrick Marie Killoran, SMP, 87, Valley City, ND, were held on Monday, March 7, 2005 at Maryvale Convent Chapel. Sister Killoran died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at Maryvale Convent, Valley City.
Sister Patrick Marie Killoran, was born on September 28, 1917 at a farm ten miles south of Tower City. She professed her vows as a Sister of Mary of the Presentation on February 14, 1939 at Broons, France. Sister Patrick Marie taught grades 3-4 at Lisbon, ND for three years. She became a patient at the tuberculosis sanatorium at San Haven, north of Dunseith, ND in 1942. Sister worked in Medical Records at St. Aloisius Medical Center, Harvey, ND for 17 years. Following that she served in Medical Records at Presentation Medical Center, Rolla, ND from 1971-1993. Sister Patrick Marie retired at Maryvale in 1993.
She is survived by her religious community, the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation; two brothers George (Theresa) Killoran and Francis (Eileen) Killoran, all of Buffalo; a sister, Mary Fisher, Valley City and nieces and nephews.
