Arnam Crandall
Funeral services for Arnam Crandall, 94, Cayuga, ND, were held on Saturday, March 12, 2004 in Nordland Lutheran Church, Rutland. Pastor Kristen Schwann officiated. Mr. Crandall died Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at St. Gerards Community Nursing Home, Hankinson.
Arnam Crandall, son of Ira and Marie (Stibal) Crandall was born on February 16, 1911 in Ransom, Sargent County, ND. He grew up on the farm and attended country school.
On October 16, 1935, he married
Iona Pherson at Sisseton, SD. After their marriage they lived on a farm Northwest of Veblen, SD until the fall of 1954 when they moved to a farm south of Cayuga, where they continued to farm. Iona passed away September 15, 1995 and Arnam continued to live on the farm. He was a member of Nordland Lutheran Church, LaBella Township Supervisor and Tewaukon Township School Board.
He is survived by two sons, DarWayne (Ardie) Crandall, Cayuga, Roland (Susanne) Crandall, Lidgerwood; one daughter, Rolene (Larry) Wacha, West Fargo; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Inez Taugner, Roseville, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, an infant daughter and a brother, Alten Crandall.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Kevin Crandall, David Nicolai, Jason Arndt, Darren Wacha, Brent Wacha and Todd Pistorius.
Honorary pallbearers were all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Interment at Rutland Cemetery, Rutland.

Matthew J. Olson
Private services were held for Matthew J. Olson, infant son of Chad A. and Ann M. (Zetocha) Olson, Lisbon, ND. Reverend Norman Anderson officiated. Matthew was born and died Sunday, March 6, 2005.
He is survived by his parents; brother, Rodney, Lisbon; grandparents, Rodney and Connie Olson, Lisbon; Roger (Joyce) Zetocha, Stirum; Gail (Robert) Bartelson, Sisseton, SD; great-grandparents, Lemoyne and Margaret Olson, Mesa, AZ; Edward and Jean Zetocha, Stirum; and Rex and Mary Corliss, Forman. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Walter and Dorothy Nelson.
Music was provided by organist Jan Hansen and soloist Charlene Rondestvedt.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon, ND.

Ida Liedahl
Ida Liedahl, 94, Fargo, ND formerly McLeod, ND died on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at the Elim Care Center, Fargo. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Leonard. A prayer service will be held Monday, March 14, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at Fredrikson Funeral Home, Kindred. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Fredrikson Funeral Home, Kindred, is in charge of arrangements.
Emma C. Weigel
Funeral services for Emma C. Weigel, 83, LaMoure, ND, formerly of Edgeley, were held on Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley. Reverend Alan Eppen officiated. Mrs. Weigel died Monday, March 7, 2005 in her home.
Emma C. Thom, daughter of Fred and Anna (Poss) Thom was born on September 18, 1921 at Edgeley, where she grew up and attended school.
On August 29, 1938, she married
Sebastian Weigel at Fargo. They made their home in the Edgeley area, where they farmed until retiring in 1995. Mr. Weigel died on April 4, 2000. After her husband’s death, Emma moved to LaMoure to live with her daughter.
She is survived by one son, John (June) Weigel, Lisbon; eight daughters, Jewel Carlson, Oakland, CA, Jeanne (Richard) Worrel, West Fargo, Betty Lou Krueger, White Bear Lake, MN, Shirley (Ron) Gangness, Bismarck, Joyce (Lyle) Scott, Dickinson, Lana (Gene) Hebl, LaMoure, Vyonne (Ron) Lipp, Linton, and Kari (Mike) Donaldson, Concord, NC; 25 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sebastian, her parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Randy Worrel, Rick Worrel, Chris Kelsen, Bill Hebl, Bob Hebl, Joey Hebl, Matthew Gangness and Trenton Scott.
Music was provided by organist Betty Jean Carow and soloist Van Gross.
Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley.

Pearl L. Melroe
Memorial services for Pearl L. Melroe, 66, Ottertail, MN, were held on Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, MN. Mrs. Melroe died Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at MeritCare Health Systems, Fargo.
Pearl, daughter of John and Bernice (Cronk) Ellis was born on April 14, 1938. She graduated from high school in Lisbon.
She married
Kenneth Shipley. They owned and operated a service station. Following their divorce, Pearl married
Clifford Melroe and lived in Gwinner where they owned and operated C.E. Melroe Arabian Horse Stables and Stub’s West Saloon. Pearl moved to Fargo in 1990 after she and Clifford divorced. She attended cosmetology school and after graduation worked for Cost Cutters in Moorhead. In 1990 she moved to Ottertail Lake, MN where together with her daughter Tracy, owned and operated Trace of Pearls Beauty Salon.
She is survived by two daughtesr, Tracy (fiance, Gary Knutson) Shipley, Ottertail, Carrie (Juan) Shipley-Lopez, Humble, TX; two sons, Charles (Stephany) Melroe, McChord Air Force Base, Tacoma, WA, Keith (Olivia) Melroe, Moorhead; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers, Edward (Karen) Ellis, Colorado Springs, CO, Roy (Lory) Ellis, Barnett, MO, Ervin Ellis, Red Oak, IA; and one sister, Viola (Donald) Merchant, Abercrombie, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John, Jr.

James Wells
Funeral services for James “Jim” Wells, 71, Milnor, ND, were held on Monday, March 14, 2005 at the Milnor United Methodist Church. Reverend Jack Erickson officiated. Mr. Wells died Friday, March 11, 2005 at his home in Milnor.
James Wells, son of Roy and Anna (Smith) Wells was born on April 27, 1933 at Milnor. He grew up and attended school in Milnor. During the early 1960s, he worked on area farms and also did some roofing in the area.
On April 24, 1964, he married
Joanne Scholz in Forman. In 1966, Jim began working for the Melroe Company in Gwinner. He retired from Bobcat in 1995 with 29 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne, Milnor; three daughters, Dawn (fiance, Greg Sande) Wells, Wahpeton, Deanne (fiance, Walter Peterson) Wells, Lisbon, Bonnie Carrijo, Billerica, MA; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchildren; and one brother, Dennis (Eula) Wells, Canby, OR. He was preceded in death by an infant child, his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Vernon Odegard, Walter Peterson, Greg Sande, Brandon Jorgenson, Norman Cross and Scott Goolsbey.
Music was provided by organist Kim Mund and soloist Bob Schutt.
Interment at Lakeside Cemetery, near Milnor.

Ida Liedahl
Funeral services for Ida Liedahl, 94, Elim Care Center, Fargo, formerly, McLeod, ND, were held on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at the Zion Lutheran Church, rural Leonard. Reverend Wayne Quibell officiated. Mrs. Liedahl died Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at Elim Care Center, Fargo.
Ida Liedahl, daughter of Iver and Raghnild (Neprud) Solhjem was born on June 9, 1910 in rural Leonard. She attended school at Sheyenne Central in rural McLeod.
On February 6, 1935, she married
Nels Liedahl, at Enderlin. Nels and Ida farmed and ranched in the Leonard and McLeod areas. She was active in the Zion Lutheran Church, rural Leonard. Mr. Liedahl died May 19, 1996. Mrs. Liedahl continued to live on the farm until January 2000 when she moved to Elim Care Center, Fargo.
She is survived by three sons, Gerald (Nancy), Kindred, David (Elaine), Alta Loma, CA, Darrel (Stephanie), McLeod; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, Fred and six sisters, Clara, Bena, Frieda, Hulda, Ruth and Stella.
Pallbearers for the funeral were all her grandchildren.
Music was provided by organist Delores Haugen and special music by Darrel Liedahl, Troy Solhjem, Neil Solhjem, Jason Solhjem and Allen Solhjem.
Interment at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Leonard.

Reuben P. Erdman
Funeral services for Reuben Erdman, 83, Fargo, ND, were held on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 in the West Funeral Chapel, West Fargo. Mr. Erdman died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Bethany Homes, Fargo.
Reuben P. Erdman was born on August 10, 1921 at Chaffee, ND. He attended Erie, ND schools. During WWII, he served in the US Marine Corps in the South Pacific. Following his discharge from the Marines, he lived in Jamestown where he was employed for many years as a route supervisor for Holsom Bread Co. He moved to Fargo and was a route supervisor for Old Dutch Foods until retiring in 1992. He resided at Bethany Homes for the past two years.
He is survived by a brother, Lloyd (Phyllis), Gwinner. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael and eight brothers and sisters.
Interment at Watson Cemetery, rural Leonard.

Edna DeVries
Funeral services for Edna “Frances” DeVries, 87, Fargo, ND, were held on Saturday, March 12, 2005 at the West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo. Mrs. DeVries died Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at the Manor Care Health Services, Fargo.
Edna Frances DeVries, daughter of George and Flora Kensinger was born on October 5, 1917 on a farm near Leonard. She grew up and attended school in the Leonard area.
On October 25, 1936, she married
Louis DeVries at Leonard. They farmed south of Leonard before moving to various communities in the area including Enderlin, Lisbon, Galesburg, Gardner and Audubon, MN before settling in Glyndon, MN. They moved to the West Fargo High Rise in 1974. Mr. DeVries died in 1976. Frances entered Manor Care in 1998. She is survived by a son, Gerrit (Mary) DeVries, West Fargo; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Riebe, Spokane, WA; and a brother, Donald (Lorraine) Kensinger, Redding, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Maxine King.
Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
