Kellee Johnson
Funeral services for Kellee Johnson, 19, Fargo and Grand Forks, ND, were held on Saturday, March 19, 2005 at Nativity Catholic Church, Fargo. Miss Johnson died Tuesday, March 15, 2005.
Kellee Johnson, daughter of Garnet Johnson and Linda Baskerville was born on September 27, 1985 in Bismarck. She grew up in Grand Forks, graduating from Red River High School in Grand Forks in 2004. Kellee excelled in theatre, acting and journalism.
She is survived by her father, Garnet and Carla Johnson, Fargo; mother, Linda Baskerville, Fargo and Charles Baskerville, Grand Forks; sisters, Tricia Johnson, Lisbon, Jackie Johnson, Fargo, Danielle Johnson, Grand Forks; brother, Eric Johnson, Fairbanks, AK, Alex Baskerville, Grand Forks; step-brothers, Joshua Friberg and Justin Friberg, both of Fargo; grandparents, George and Rita Ethier, Wahpeton and Phyllis Staber, Lisbon.

Sylvia L. Aune
Funeral services for Sylvia L. Aune, 72, Valley City, ND, were held on Friday, March 18, 2005 in Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Valley City, ND. Reverend Paul Husa and Reverend Mark Ostgarden officiated. Mrs. Aune died Sunday, March 13, 2005 in Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.
Sylvia Luella Aune, daughter of Lawrence and Selma (Johnson) Lee was born on March 14, 1932 at home in Norma Township, northeast of Kathryn, ND. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She graduated from Valley City High School. She lived in Valley City, where she worked for Holiday’s Grocery Store.
On June 20, 1954, she married
Andrew Aune, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Norma Township. They moved to San Diego, CA where Mr. Aune was stationed in the Navy. In 1956 they returned to Sanborn, ND to begin farming. Sylvia and Andy farmed from 1956 until 1994 when they retired and moved to Valley City. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Rogers, the Ladies Aid, Anderson Homemakers Club, the Birthday Club, a 4-H leader and a member of the Eckelson-Sanborn American Legion Auxiliary Post 202. She entered the Sheyenne Care Center in 1997.
She is survived by her husband, Andy Aune; daughters, Teri Aune, Huron, SD, Deb (Al) Wacha, Montivideo, MN; daughter-in-law, Ruth (Aune) Nathan, Valley City; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Artis) Lee, Bowdon, ND, Curtis (Donna) Lee, Carrington, ND, Gary (Evelene) Lee, Forest Lake, MN, Larry (Maxine) Erickson, Page, ND, Lotus (David) Lee, Primgar, IA, Arlene (Joe) Olson, Bismarck, Beverly (Peck) Wilson, Wimbledon, ND and Robert (Evette) Aune, Bozeman, MT. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Aune, her parents, her sister, Maxine (Lee) Erickson and her brother, David Lee.
Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Valley City, ND in the spring.

Joyce Tamlyn
Funeral Mass for Joyce Tamlyn, 75, Verona, ND, were held on Thursday, March 17, 2005 at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Verona. Father Mathew Pamplaniyil and concelebrant Father Adam Hasey officiated. Mrs. Tamlyn died Monday, March 14, 2005 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Joyce Tamlyn, daughter of Melvin and Hanna (Schneider) Holman was born on May 12, 1929 in Bismarck. She moved to Verona with her parents at the age of 2 and later attended school there. She graduated as valedictorian with the class of 1946. After attending college in Valley City, she taught school at Greenville No. 1 country school north of Verona.
On June 11, 1948, she married
Richard “Dick” Tamlyn in Verona, where they made their home. In 1949, Dick began working for Mel at the family-owned bar and barbershop and took over the business in 1951. Mr. and Mrs. Tamlyn operated “Dick’s Bra” until they retired in January of 1994. She was an active member of St. Raphel’s Catholic Church and served as an officer in the Altar Guild. She served as charter member and president of the Jones Benoit Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Tamlyn was the first woman to serve on the Verona City Council. She also served on the Advisory Board of the Oakes Community Hospital, the LaMoure County Senior Citizens Board, the Seven-County South Central Senior Board and election supervisor of the local voting precinct. She served as co-chair of the committee that organized the Verona Centennial in 1983, was chair of the Verona Community Calendar and a member of the Verona Park Board.
She is survived by her husband, Dick; children, Tom (Brenda), Battle Lake, MN, Patti (David) Rickford, Valley City, Dr. Todd (Kathleen), Winona, MN and Bill (Heidi), St. Paul, MN; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.
Pallbearers for the funeral were George Berry, Alvin Lobeck, Marvin Mangin, Austin Pithey, James Raatz and Thomas Strahm.
Music was provided by organist Marlene Dahl and soloist Jon Hanson.
Interment at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery, near Verona.

Raymond F. Kaatz
Funeral services for Raymond F. Kaatz, 95, Wadena, MN, formerly, Sheldon, ND, will be held on Monday, March 21, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Enderlin. Reverend Mike Toomey will officiate. Mr. Kaatz died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Fair Oakes Lodge Nursing Home, Wadena.
Raymond Fredrich Kaatz, son of Fred and Ida (Fraedrich) Kaatz was born on April 13, 1909 in rural Anselm, ND. He attended rural Anselm School.
On October 25, 1939, he married
Emma E. Erbstoesser, in rural Leonard. They farmed near Sheldon. They moved to Wadena in April of 1997. Ray helped organize the Enderlin/Sheldon rural Fire Department. He was a duly elected life member of the ND Firemen’s Association after serving as a 35-year veteran of the Enderlin Fire Dept. He was a leader of the Liberty Livestock
4-H Club, served on the Liberty Township Board, County Board of the Farm Bureau and was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Enderlin, serving on the church council and as an usher. She died November 19, 2002.
He is survived by one son, Dennis (Dorothy), Wadena, MN; one daughter Charlene (Ron) Murdoff, Fargo; four grandchildren and one sister, Myrtle Anderson, Lisbon. He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers, Muril and Orville, a sister, Cleona Buss and two infant sisters.
Pallbearers for the funeral are Dale Kaatz, Gary Kaatz, Brian Kaatz, Donald Buss, Rodney Anderson, Chet Larson and James Armbrust.
Music will be provided by organist Joan Schlecht and soloist Paul Billing.
Interment at Watson Cemetery, Leonard.

Menga Novits
Funeral services for Menga Novits, 93, Lisbon, ND, formerly of Cogswell, ND, were held on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cogswell. Reverend Harvey Pederson and Reverend Norman Anderson officiated. Mrs. Novits died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Parkside Lutheran Home, Lisbon.
Menga Braaten, daughter of Charles and Augusta (Winkel) Braaten was born on February 22, 1912 at Wyndmere, where she grew up and attended school.
On September 24, 1928, she married
Alvin Buchholz, in Oakes. The couple lived and farmed in the Crete, ND area. He died in 1948 and Menga continued to live on the farm until moving to Cogswell in 1950. Menga married
Pike Novits in 1953 in Cogswell. The couple owned and operated the bar and grocery store in Cogswell, until their retirement in 1976. Menga moved to Lisbon in 1995, to be near Pike at the Veteran’s Home. Pike died on June 17, 1998. Menga continued to live in Lisbon and entered Parkside Lutheran Home in February of 2005. She was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church and Cogswell Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons Reynold “Buster” (Janice) Buchholz, Anamoose, ND, Melvin “Mickey” (Inge) Buchholz, Great Falls, MT; four daughters, Joyce (Orv) McDaniel, Gwinner, Barbara (Curt) Anderson, Austin, TX, Shirley (Edward) Olson, Forman, Cleone (Ray) Leach, Fargo; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Walter (Olive) Bratten, San Bernardino, CA. She was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, six brothers, and four sisters.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Allen McDaniel, Steve Olson, Russell Buchholz, Frank Buchholz, Chae Buchholz, Kory Leach and Travis Leach.
Special music was provided by Curt Brownlee.
Interment at Old Sargent Cemetery, near Cogswell.

Arlene M. Jacobson
Funeral services for Arlene M. Jacobson, 88, Boulder, CO, were held on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Crist Mortuary Chapel, Boulder, CO. Mrs. Jacobson died March 3, 2005 at the Boulder Good Samaritan Health Center.
Arlene M. Jacobson, daughter of Delbert and Rosa (Sours) Ketcheson was born on November 25, 1916 in Milnor. She moved to Boulder in the early 1940s.
On July 26, 1942, she married
Bernnett Jacobson in Boulder.
She is survived by one brother, Leslie Ketcheson, Emmett, ID; nephews, Bruce (Pam) Smith, Richard (Carolyn) Jacobson, James (Robbie) Jacobson, Tom (Cindy) Jacobson all Lisbon; Steve (Deb) Nelson, Linton, ND; Mark (Jan) Nelson of Grand Forks, ND; two nieces, Karen Hanna, Mandan, ND and Janell (Keith) Anderson, Enderlin, ND; and two special friends, Tom Masterson and Barbara Lambert, Boulder. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one sister, Norena Smith.
Interment at Mountain View Memorial Park, Boulder, CO.

Leatha B. Hanson
The funeral for Leatha B. Hanson, of Verona, ND was held on Saturday, February 19, 2005, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Verona, ND, with Reverend David Isaacson officiating. Burial was at Oakes View Cemetery, rural Oakes.
Leatha Barbara Christle was born on November 12, 1913, in Ransom County, ND near Verona to Edward and Anna (Burch) Christle. She grew up in the Verona area attending rural school at both the Hanson and Cleveland Consolidated Schools. Leatha met her future husband Albin Harry Hanson, while working at his brother’s farm. Leatha and Albin were united in marriage on August 17, 1933, at Aberdeen, SD. The couple made their home and farmed near Verona for many years. Two sons and two daughters were born to this union. After Albin’s death in 1966, Leatha worked as a childcare provider for several families in the area. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Verona most of her life. She enjoyed reading, playing cards at the senior center in Verona, playing checkers with her great-grandsons and crocheting. Many of her grandchildren received her gift of love in the form of an afghan as a wedding present, and her great-grandchildren were wrapped warmly in blankets crocheted just for them by Leatha.
Leatha passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2005, at the Oakes Good Samaritan Center. She was 91 years old.
She is survived by two daughters, Marlyn (Gary) Lovgren, Verona, ND and Darlene (Donald) Sullivan, Albert Lea, MN; one brother, Merritt Christle, South St. Paul, MN; one sister, Marianne (Alvin) Budahn, Darwin, MN; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Albin Jr. and Loren, her parents, six brothers, three sisters, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Larry Christle, Gaylord Christle, Marvin Christle, Allen Christle, Patrick McCann and David Kahle. All grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers. Marlene Dahl, organist, provided special music. Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes was in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Leatha’s honor to the American Heart Association.
Lillian G. Cullen
Funeral services for Lillian G. Cullen, 95, formerly of Sheldon, ND, were held on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at the Mavis Whiting Chapel, Bethany Homes, Fargo. Mrs. Cullen died Friday, February 12, 2005 at the Palliative Care Unit of MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Lillian Gurine Nordgaard, daughter of Lawrence and Anna Marie (Landsverk) Nordgaard was born on December 14, 1909 in Lawler Chickasaw County, IA. She attended rural schools and graduated from Valley City High School in 1928. She attended Valley City Teacher’s College and taught at rural schools in Barnes County and in Shenford Township, Ransom County, south of Sheldon.
On June 28, 1932, she married
Kenneth Cullen in the Ringsaker Church just across the road from where she had grown up. In their early married
life they lived in Sheldon, rural Barnes County and De Kalb, IL. In the fall of 1941 they returned to Sheldon where they rented and subsequently bought the farm two miles south of Sheldon where Kenneth had grown up. They continued to live on the farm until the spring of 1994 when they moved to Fargo. Kenneth died in February of 1995. Three years ago Lillian moved to Assisted Living in Towers II of Bethany Homes in Fargo.
She is survived by three daughters, Lois (Ted) Rotenberger, Henning, MN and Sun City, AZ, Carolyn (Donard) Thue, Fargo, Kathleen Nesvig, Fargo; eleven grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren and a brother Julian Nordgaard, Farmersville, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother, Maurice Nordgaard.
Interment at the Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon.
