Hazel F. Bonde
Funeral services for Hazel F. Bonde, 84, Lisbon, ND, were held on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon. Karl Bergh officiated. Mrs. Bonde died Sunday, April 3, 2005 at her home in Lisbon.
Hazel F. Bonde, daughter of James and Lula (Dell Rupe) Stewart was born on September 2, 1920 in Sherwood, ND. She attended Sherwood ND school, graduating from Sherwood High School.
In June 1940, she married
Clarence Sundby in Sherwood. They lived on a farm near Mohall, ND. He died September of 1966. After Clarence’s death she moved to Minot. She married
Roy Bonde on August 18, 1973 in Minot, ND. They lived on his farm near Kathryn, ND. In 1992 they moved to Lisbon.
She is survived by her husband, Roy, Lisbon; one son, William (Cheryl) Sundby, Puyallup, WA; two daughters, Wanda (Don) Leifson, Ryder, ND, Ila (David) Krause, Flasher, ND; one step-son, Arlen (Michelle) Bonde, Kathryn; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son and four brothers and two sisters.

Raymond H. Johnson
Funeral services for Raymond H. Johnson, 83, Lisbon, ND, were held on Friday, April 8, 2005 at High Prairie Lutheran Church, rural LaMoure. Mr. Johnson died Sunday, April 3, 2005 at Lisbon Area Health Services, Lisbon.
Raymond Harold Johnson, son of Ray and Camilla Johnson was born on May 25, 1921 in Gladstone Township near LaMoure. He attended grade school at Gladstone #3 at Benson Corner. He lived and worked on his parents’ farm until moving with them to LaMoure in 1960. He moved to Lisbon Area Health Services, nursing facility, in Lisbon in 1995.
Mr. Johnson was a life long member of High Prairie Lutheran Church, rural LaMoure.
He is survived by brothers-in-law, Clifford (Irene) Haro, LaMoure and Marvin Jones, Fargo; and several nieces and nephews, some of whom live in the Ransom County area. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Harriet (Clifford) Haro, Luverne (Marvin) Jones and Loraine Johnson.
Interment at High Prairie Cemetery, rural LaMoure.

Jocelyn L. Fink
Funeral services for Jocelyn “Josie” Fink, 24, Forman, ND, were held on Monday, April 4, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Forman. Reverend Bill Schardin officiated. Miss Fink died Thursday, March 31, 2005 as the result of a car accident northwest of Rutland, ND.
Jocelyn Louise ‘Josie” Fink, daughter of Harley D. and Jacqualyn L. “Jackie” (Guttormson) Fink was born on November 28, 1980 at Britton, SD. She grew up and attended school in Forman, graduating from Sargent Central High School in 1999. She continued her education at Jamestown College, where she graduated with honors and a B.A. Degree in Elementary Education. She was currently advancing her education through the University of North Dakota and Southeast Valley. Under this program, Miss Fink taught Special Education at North Sargent in Gwinner and Sargent Central at Forman during the day and attended school in the evenings. Josie was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Forman. She had been active as a Sunday School teacher, worked with the Vacation Bible School program and the L.Y.O. She had worked as a lifeguard, coach for the Jamestown Eagles swim team, assistant volleyball coach at North Sargent and as a private tutor. During her summers, she had also worked at the Forman Golf Course and served as Team Manager of the Sargent Central Destination Imagination Team during their 2004 contests. She is survived by her parents, Harley and Jackie Fink, Forman; her maternal grandmother, Melba Guttormson, Lisbon; a sister Marsha (Kevin) Symens, Germantown, WI; and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, her maternal grandfather and a brother, Scott Alan Fink in 1983.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Lynn Mennis, Jay Mennis, Pamela Jacobson, Lance Gulleson, Mike Anderson and Bruce Bosse. Honoary casketbearers were all of her classmates, friends and students.
Music was provided by organist Beth Fritz and soloist Emily Banish. Special remarks were given by Jon Anderson and Marsha Symens
Interment at Forman Cemetery, Forman.

Lucille M. Manske
Funeral services for Lucille M. Manske, 78, St. Paul, MN, were held on Monday, April 4, 2005 at the Helendale Lutheran Church, rural Leonard, ND. Mrs. Manske died Wednesday, March 30, 2005.
Lucille Marie Manske, daughter of William and Maria (Sandvig) Manske was born on November 27, 1926 at Enderlin. She attended schools in Cass and Ransom Counties, graduating from Oak Grove Seminary in Fargo. She attended Mayville State Teachers College to get certification to teach elementary school. She taught in one room country schools in Richland County, ND. She moved to St. Paul, MN in 1949, where she worked at a wholesale food processing company for fourteen years, then worked as an accounting clerk for Great American Insurance Company for seventeen years. She retired in 1983. She was a Gold Star Member of the American Legion Auxiliary #166 at Walcott, ND.
She is survived by a brother, Franklin, Princeton, MN; a sister, Jane Patyk, Roseville, MN and sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Leo, Leland, Leslie, Henry, William, Alvin and a sister, Louise Manske.
Interment at Helendale Lutheran Cemetery, Leonard, ND.

Ida C. Johnson
Funeral services for Ida C. Johnson, 95, Milnor, ND, were held on Monday, April 4, 2005 at Milnor Lutheran Church, Milnor. Pastor Priscilla Hukki officiated. Mrs. Johnson died Friday, April 1, 2005 at Parkside Lutheran Home, Lisbon.
Ida Caroline Thompson, daughter of Peder and Guri (Kulstad) Thompson was born on June 9, 1909 in McLeod, where she grew up and attended rural school.
On October 20, 1927, she married
Ralph Johnson in Britton, SD. Together they made their home in Milnor. She was a housewife and a cook at the Milnor Public School. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. In November of 2002, Ida became a resident of Parkside Lutheran Nursing Home in Lisbon, Mr. Johnson died on July 31, 1966.
She is survived by her son, Arvid (Jan), Mandan; a daughter, Mar-Jo Hanson, Casselton; a daughter-in-law, Judy Johnson, Lisbon; five grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, Ralph Anton, her son, Orland, a grandson, Michael and nine brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Christie Hanson, Macy Hanson, Danielle Hanson, Paul Johnson, Katie Johnson and Dustin Podvin. Honorary pallbearers were Brett Grommesh, Keeler Johnson, Spencer Johnson and Savannah Johnson.
Special music was provided by Kim Mund and DeAnn Grommesh will do a eulogy.
Interment at Lakeside Cemetery, Milnor.

Janel J. Gubeno
A memorial service for Janel J. Gubeno, 31, Mason, MI, formerly Leonard, ND and Fargo, ND, was held on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Mrs. Gubeno died Saturday, March 19, 2005 at Sparrow Hospice House in Lansing, MI, following a struggle with a cancerous brain tumor.
Janel J. Nygard, daughter of James and Sharon Nygard was born on April 1, 1973 in Fargo. She attended school in Enderlin, Leonard and Fargo, graduating from South High in 1991. She graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN in 1995 and became employed in Baltimore, MD that summer. After moving in Michigan in late 1997, Janel was employed by Community Choice of Michigan and for the last six years was employed by Delta Dental of Michigan where she worked as a National Account Service Manager.
She is survived by her husband, Jason; son, Hunter, age 2; her mother, Sharon Nygard (Saewert), Fargo; her father, James (DeEtte) Nygard, Highlands Ranch, CO; and her sister, Michele (John) Jenkins, Edina, MN.

Ruth E. Phillips
Ruth E. Phillips, 80, of 400 Webber Road, Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at White Oak Estates.
She was born March 2, 1925, in Lisbon, ND. She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Vernie Way Sanderson. She was retired from Hospital Administration, Clinton Valley Center, in Pontiac, MI, and was of the Presbyterian faith. She was a member of the State Employee's Retirement Association, formerly serving as secretary and publishing the newsletter.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Steven J. and Linda Phillips, Moore, SC; a brother, Richard Sanderson, Lisbon, ND; two sisters, Lois Murray, Lisbon, ND, and Barbara Ayala, McMinnville, OR; a granddaughter, Staci Karban and her husband Paul, two great-granddaughters, Katherine Karban and Rebecca Karban, and a great-grandson, Matthew Karban, all of Spartanburg, SC.
Visitation was held Monday, April 4, 2005, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. A private graveside service will be held.

Stanley G. Gunderson
The memorial service for Stanley G. Gunderson, 81, of Aberdeen, was held Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Whillock officiating. Inurnment followed at Riverside Memorial Park. Mr. Gunderson died Monday, April 4, 2005 at Bethesda Home, Aberdeen.

Stan G. Gunderson was born on March 10, 1924 to Guy and Millie (Erickson) Gunderson at Aberdeen, SD. He grew up in the Aberdeen area and graduated from Central High School in 1942. After high school, Stan joined the U.S. Army and served from 1942 to 1946 in WWII in the 17th Airborne Paratroopers.
After the Army, Stan returned to Aberdeen. He attended Northern State Teacher's College and received a degree in teaching with a history major.
Stan married
Helen M. Keller on January 2, 1947 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. Stan worked for Socony Mobil Oil Co. for several years in Aberdeen until moving to Lisbon, ND in 1955. He worked in sales management for Melroe Co. in Lisbon until they moved to Chicago in 1975. There he took a job as Central Parts Manager for Melroe. He was with Melroe until his retirement in 1982 when they moved back to Aberdeen.
Stan was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was very active in the church and served as president of the church council. Stan was known for his beautiful singing voice. He sang in the church choir and was a member of the Dakota Heritage Barbershop Chorus. Along with the volunteer work with his church, Stan helped seniors with their taxes at the Alexander Mitchell Library. Stan was very active in the Brown County Republican Party. He was elected national association president of the 17th Airborne Army group and was part of the planning committee for their 50th Anniversary. Stan was chosen to place a wreath on General George S. Patton's grave on behalf of the 17th Airborne. He was a member of the V.F.W. and past member of the Elks. He also was a member of Toastmasters. Golfing was a favorite pastime of Stan's and he was a member of the Moccasin Creek Country Club. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. Stan was an avid reader and loved to read about history. His greatest joy came from time spent with his family and friends.
Grateful for having shared his life are his son: Barry (Michele) Gunderson of Denver, CO; two daughters: Mitzi (Paul) Johnston of Miami, FL and Peggy (Mike) Kelly of Sugarland, TX; four grandchildren: Kelly Johnston, Todd Johnston, Chris Kelly, and Matthew Kelly; three sisters: Clarice Geersen of Gordon, NE, Elaine (Elmer) Roth, and Ruth (George) Casanova; sister-in-law: Naomi Alexander; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Doris and Don Angerhofer all of Aberdeen; many nieces and nephews; and his grand-dog: Ruby.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Helen; parents: Guy and Millie; brother: Russell Alexander; and three sisters: Beatrice Goulette, Jeanne Dingman, and Gloria Hartzel.
The family prefers memorials to North Plains Hospice, Bethesda Home of Aberdeen, or Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Aberdeen.
