Liala Rodin
Funeral services for Liala Rodin, 83, Jamestown, ND, were held on Friday, July 22, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown. Reverend Norman Winkelman officiated. Mrs. Rodin died Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at Hi Acres Manor, Jamestown.
Liala Rodin, daughter of Gustar and Gertrude (Seif) Hirsch was born on April 2, 1922 near Eureka, SD. She attended school at Buckenberger School in the Thompson School District near Eureka.
On December 26, 1953, she married
Floyd Rodin in Valley City. The couple then lived and farmed in the Greenland Township area near Marion, ND for 45 years. After their retirement from farming, the couple moved to Jamestown in 1997. They were members of the Litchville Lutheran Church, Litchville before moving to Jamestown where they became members of Trinity Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd; three sisters, Clara (Aaron) Jung, Minneapolis, Anita (Marvin) Weig, Kathryn and Erna (Howard) Eiseman, Aberdeen; three brothers-in-law, Lyle (Dorothy) Rodin, Charles (Carol) Rodin, all Marion, and Donald (Beryl) Rodin, Duluth, MN.
Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery, near Valley City.

William F. Runcorn
Funeral services for William F. Runcorn, 64, Fargo, ND, were held on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Mr. Runcorn died Friday, July 22, 2005 in his home.
William Fred Runcorn, son of Fred and Emma (Sund) Runcorn was born on July 25, 1940 in York, ND. He grew up in York and graduated from Leeds High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1962.
On May 15, 1971, he married
Beverly Huseth in Wyndmere, ND. The couple made their home in Fargo where he was manager of TSC and then was employed with Hintz Fire Equipment from 1972 to present.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly, Fargo; sisters, Lori (Jack) Neiger, Chino, CA, Jan Gableman, Arizona, Carol Forness, Williston; brother, Duane (Sharon) Runcorn, Dickinson, sisters-in-law, Sharon (Jerry) Bommersbach, Wahpeton, and Sandy (Jim) Post, Horace. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Blanche.
Interment at Freeman Cemetery, McLeod, ND.

Bryan J. Opskar
Bryan J. Opskar, the son of Erling and Betty (Arndt) Opskar, was born February 14, 1973, at Princeton, MN, where he grew up and received his education. While in high school he played hockey, football and track. He graduated from high school in 1991.
After high school Bryan played junior hockey in Anoka, MN, for a year and then in Fargo, ND, for a year. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, for a year and a half and played hockey for the Cobbers. After attending Concordia, he worked at Tires Plus in Fargo and then returned to Princeton to work. Bryan enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding his Harley.
In 1998, Bryan enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. After training, he was assigned to the 3rd LAR Battalion in Twentynine Palms, CA. In March of 2003, his unit took part in the Iraq invasion. He returned to California and in February of 2004, was assigned to Charlie Company, 2nd LAR Battalion in North Carolina. In March of 2005, his unit was sent to Iraq, where Bryan was killed in combat on July 23, 2005. He was 32 years old.
On December 31, 2004, Bryan was united in marriage to the love of his life, Leandra Dougherty, in Fargo. Leandra and Bryan had known each other for twelve years.
In addition to his wife, Leandra, Bryan is survived by his parents, Erling and Betty, Pelican Rapids, MN; a brother, Christopher (Rebecca) Opskar, Brooklyn Park, MN; grandfather, Ervin Opskar, Enderlin, ND; grandmother, Dorothy Arndt, Fargo; Leandra’s parents, Laura and Leo Dougherty, Missoula, MT; and Leandra’s brother, Kristopher (Jaime Peterson) Dougherty, Sartell, MN.
Visitation will be Monday, August 1, 2005, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Prayer service will be held Monday, August 1, 2005 at 8:00 p.m at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial will be at Cormorant Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lake Park, MN
Jerry L. Rupe
Committal services for Jerome L. Rupe, 59, Grand Forks, ND, were held on Saturday, July 23, 2005 at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon. He passed away in the presence of family. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all. Mr. Rupe died Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Jerome L. Rupe, son of William and Vivian A. (Weisenhaus) Rupe was born on January 27, 1946 in Enderlin, ND. He attended school in McLeod and graduated from Milnor High School. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1970.
Jerry served as a police officer. He retired from the Grand Forks Police Dept. as a sergeant in 2001.
He is survived by one daugther, Teresa (Jason) Hayes, Hatton, ND; one son, Saun, Reynolds, ND; fiance, Joan Chromy, Grand Forks; four grandchildren, Tyler, Marissa, Travis and Haley Hayes; aunts, Faye Bartosh, Lisbon, Irene Gulland, Anoka, MN and special cousins.

Clarence A. Gulland
Funeral services for Clarence A. Gulland, 68, Sheldon, ND, were held on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Enderlin. Reverend Mike Toomey officiated. Mr. Gulland died Saturday, July 16, 2005 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Clarence A. Gulland, son of Clarence and Amanda (Krueger) Gulland was born on October 20, 1936 in rural Wheatland, ND. He attended school at Wheatland School, Wheatland, ND. He attended NDSU. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1957.
On April 3, 1961, he married
JoAnn Hanson in Vergas, MN. Mr. Gulland worked for the Fargo Fire Dept. and sold insurance in Fargo before moving to Enderlin in 1962. He sold insurance until 1969. They farmed near Sheldon.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Gulland, Sheldon; four daughters, Lynette (Greg) Johnson, Redlands, CA, DeAnn Anderson, Grand Forks, Mary Jo (Jim) Hanley, Middleton, PA, Lisa (Andy) Gulland-Nelson, Fargo; five grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard (Marilyn), Minneapolis, MN, Duane, Ayr, ND; three sisters, Betty Whitmore, Chico, CA, Bonnie (Kent) Eicholtz, Fargo and Diane (Darrell) Knutson, Tuscumbia, MO.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Greg Johnson, Jim Hanley, Andy Gulland-Nelson, Rick Labor, Jim Moderow, and Brandon Roland.
Music was provided by organist Joan Schlecht and soloist Jack Armstrong.
Interment at Enderlin Cemetery, Enderlin.

Reinhold E. R. Utke
Funeral services for Reinhold E. R. Utke, 89, Fargo, ND, were held on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. Mr. Utke died Thursday, July 14, 2005 in Bethany Homes, Fargo.
Reinhold (Reinie) Emil Robert Utke, son of Wilhelm and Wilheminia Utke was born on April 23, 1916 in rural Enderlin, ND. He was baptized and confirmed in Leonard Lutheran Church. He graduated from Enderlin High School in 1935 and Moorhead State College in 1939. He received a Masters Degree from NDSU in 1953 and continued post graduate work at Stanford University, CA and University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
On July 18, 1940, he married
Ruth Hannaford, in First Congregational Church, Moorhead, MN. She passed away on March 14, 1991. He taught high school in Ulen and Ellendale, MN and managed a store in Enderlin before moving to Moorhead in 1953 where he became a high school guidance counselor. In 1958 he began a 20 year position as principal at Moorhead Junior High School. In 1978 he was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from his alma mater. On June 19, 1992 he was united in marriage to Crystal Tollefson at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead. He held membership in several state and national professional organizations, directed male choruses and church choirs and served on a variety of boards and councils including a 50 year membership in Kiwanis Service Club. He was co-founder of Moorhead Education Foundation.
He is survived by his wife, Crystal Utke; two daughters, Marilyn DeWitt, St. Louis, MO Sharon Carlos, Fountain, CO; four grandchildren; two great-granddaughters;four step-children, Blair Tollefson, Boston, MA, Jon Tollefson, Fargo, Jill (Steven) Swantz, Burnsville, MN James Tollefson, Detroit Lakes, MN; two step grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Koslofsky, Barron, WI, Myrtle Koslofsky, Wheatland, IA; one brother, Bill (Helen) Utke, Sioux Falls, SD and one brother-in-law, Lyle (Kathy) Severson, Pelican Rapids, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, his parents, four brothers, Albert, Lawrence, Marvin, Elroy and three sisters, Palma O’Donnell, Martha Buttke and Luella Hackett.
Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.

Rev. Rolf T. Storlie
Funeral services for Reverend Rolf T. Storlie, 66, Badger Valley, (rural Houston) MN, were held on Saturday, July 16, 2005 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Bishop April Ulring-Larson, Reverend Elizabeth Stempinski and Reverend Norman Omodt officiated. Reverend Storlie died Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at his home in Badger Valley, MN.
Rolf Tilman Storlie, son of Tilman and Gudrun (Vathing) Storlie was born on July 2, 1939 in Spring Grove, MN. He was baptized on August 3, 1939 by the Reverend Arnold W. Nelson and confirmed October 31, 1954 by the Reverend M.A. Braaten at the Stone Church in Houston, MN. In 1957 he graduated from Houston High School and enrolled at Lutheran College in Decorah, IA. After completing his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1961 he entered Luther Theological Seminary, St. Paul, MN. He served his year of internship at Trinity, St. Paul and Zion Lutheran Church, Lisbon under the supervision of the Reverend S.L. Almlie. Reverend Storlie received his Bachelor of Divinity Degree from Luther Theological Seminary on May 30, 1965.
On June 12, 1965, he married
Janice Heggen at our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Rothsay, MN. He was ordained into the Lutheran Ministry on June 20, 1965 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, Houston, MN. From 1965 to 1969 he served in North Dakota as pastor of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cogswell, Brampton Lutheran Church, Brampton and Havana Trinity Lutheran Church, Havana. He served as associate pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN from 1970 to 1972 and as pastor of Cross of Glory and West Freeborn Lutheran Churches at Hartland, MN from 1972 to 1980. On June 15, 1980 he began his ministry at Immanuel and Wilmington Lutheran Churches in Caledonia. He retired on October 31, 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; his sons, Daniel (Susan), Holmen, WI, Erik (Trupti) Yokosuka, Japan; his daughter, Kirsten (Mark) Liberman, Naples, FL; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Interment at Stone Church Cemetery, Houston.

Mamie Nygaard
Funeral services for Mamie Nygaard, 101, Hillsboro, ND, were held on Sunday, July 17, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead. Mrs. Nygaard died Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at Hillsboro Medical Center Hospital, Hillsboro, ND.
Mamie Jerdee, daughter of Andrew and Ingeborg (Lerdahl) Jerdee was born on August 8, 1903 in Sun Prairie, WI. She moved with her family at an early age to Enderlin, ND where she grew up and received her education. She graduated from Enderlin High School in 1921 and began attending college in Jamestown. After her graduation she taught school in the Jamestown area.
On August 18, 1924, she married
Peter Nygaard in Enderlin. They made their home in Enderlin. He passed away in 1973. In 1974 she moved to Moorhead where she lived until moving to Hillsboro in 2000. Mamie entered the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home in October 2001. Mrs. Nygaard was an active church member at First Lutheran Church, Enderlin and later a member at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
She is survived by her son, Peter Nygaard, Fargo; three daughters, Marilynn Stangler, Enderlin, LaVerle (Clint) Erbstoesser, Hunter, Mary (Charles) Hanson, Hillsboro; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her her husband, her parents, her siblings, one granddaughter, Patty Berndt and a son-in-law, Bernard Stangler.
Interment at Enderlin City Cemetery, Enderlin.
