Kathryn Onsum Erstad
A memorial service for Kathryn Onsum Erstad, 77, Broken Arrow, OK, were held on January 23, 2006 at the Christian-Gavlik Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow. Mrs. Erstad died Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Forest Hills Health Care Center, Broken Arrow.
Kathryn Onsum, daughter of Bert and Henrietta (Jolly) Onsum, was born October 16, 1928, in Glyndon, MN. She graduated from Dilworth High School, Dilworth, MN, in 1946. She attended Dakota Business College, Fargo, ND, and worked in the office of J.I. Case Company in Fargo. She also worked for Lutheran Hospitals and Home Society of Fargo.
In September, 1951, she married
Donald Erstad in Dilworth. They had two daughters, Kathryn Anne and Margaret Jeanne. She retired from Amoco Research in Tulsa, OK, where she worked as a research technologist.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Martin, Broken Arrow and Margaret Erstad, Glendale, CA; three grandchildren; one brother, James Onsum, Dilworth, and one sister, Evelyn Bleese, Enderlin, ND.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents, and one brother, Walter Onsum.
Interment at Park Grove Cemetery, Broken Arrow.

Marshall V. Midthun
Funeral services for Marshall V. Midthun, 73, Luverne, ND, were held on Saturday, Mar. 11, 2006 at Faith Lutheran Church, Valley City, ND. Rev. Tom Peterson officiated. Mr. Midthun died Friday, Mar. 3 in Banner Garden Hospice, Mesa, AZ.
Marshal V. Midthun, son of Martin and Viola (Hildremyr) Midthun, was born August 1, 1932 in Eureka, SD. In 1950, he graduated from McIntosh High School in McIntosh, MN. He entered the Army after high school and served in Korea from 1952 to 1954.
On March 1, 1953, he married
Norma Remford. On May 13, 1978, Marshall married
Judy Sortland. He was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company from 1951 until his retirement in 1982. He was self employed from 1982 until 1999 as an installer of fiber optic equipment.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; his children, David (Wanda) Midthun, Cody, WY, Brian (Janet) Midthun, Enderlin, ND, Marsha (Larry) Daniels, Eden Prairie, MN, Jon (Julie) Midthun, Cook, MN, and Steve Midthun, Minneapolis, MN; his stepchildren, Yolanda (Larry) Baumgartner, Cook, MN, Steve (Carmen) Sortland, Halstad, MN, and Missy (Bob) Elton, Jamestown, ND, and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma, his parents, and grandparents.
Interment at Memory Garden Cemetery, Valley City, in the Spring.

Tracy C. Larson
Funeral services for Tracy C. Larson, 78, Oakes, ND, were held on Friday, March 10, 2006 at the United Methodist Church, Oakes. Rev. Steve Olson officiated. Mr. Larson died Monday, March 6 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Tracy Clinton Larson, son of Louis and Clara Olive (Lundquist) Larson, was born April 5, 1927 at Oakes. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and later converted to Methodist. He was a member of the Oakes United Methodist Church. Tracy grew up in the Oakes area and attended the Oakes Public School. He graduated with the class of 1945. Following his graduation, he continued to farm with his father and brother. In 1953, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served in the Korean War. Following his discharge in 1955, Tracy returned to the family farm where he continued to live and farm.
On October 27, 1956, Tracy married
Marilyn Joyce Daniels at Oakes.
In January, 2001, he suffered a stroke that forced him to retire from farming. Tracy was a member of the Oakes American Legion and a former member of the Oakes Firing Squad. He also served several years on the Divide Township Board.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; two daughters, Kathy and Diana Larson, both of Arvada, CO; two sons, Bruce Larson, Lisbon, ND and Dan (Brenda) Larson, Elk River, MN; one sister, Elsie Lovelien, Delaware, OH; six grandchildren, and two brothers-in-law, James Southard, Franklin, TN and Grant Schmitz, Fisher, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; three sisters, and three brothers-in-law.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Travis Thompson, Jason thompson, Garry Opp, Michael Wyum, Doug Schmit, Jerald Schmit, Russell Larson, and Kevin Schmitz.
Music was provided by organist Carole Wolff, pianist Barb Burley, and soloist Harvey Wolff.
Military rites by Bean-Goodwin American Legion Post #36.
Interment at Oakes View Cemetery, Oakes.

Lowell D. Duval
Lowell Dietzler Duval, 76, rural Lisbon, ND, died Monday, March 27, 2006 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Lowell was born November 3, 1929, baptized December 27, 1929, and confirmed in Milnor Lutheran Church in 1947. He attended primary schools in Willey, Sydna, and Aliceton Townships, and graduated in 1948 from Milnor High School. After high school, Lowell continued working the family farm northwest of Milnor. On August 23, 1957, Lowell married
Beverley Cavett at Trinity Lutheran, Lisbon. At the time of his death, Lowell was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisbon. Lowell and Beverley initially made their home on the farm northwest of Milnor and then moved to the present farm southeast of Lisbon in 1959.
Lowell served his community throughout the years as an Aliceton Township Officer for 25 years, a 4-H leader for 25 years, Ransom County Farm Bureau Board for nine years, as well as on the Ransom County Fair Board. After retiring from farming, he was a sales representative for Northrup King and Cargill, selling seed for several years. He enjoyed calling on the area farmers and developed many friendships along the way. Lowell was an outdoorsman at heart, with a passion for hunting, trapping, fishing, and regular drives around the township. He also had a love for high school sports, attending among other sports, countless wrestling matches and track meets. Later in life, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in volleyball, softball, basketball, and football.
Lowell is survived by his wife, Beverley; three daughters and one son, Deborah (Randy) Wagner, Esko, MN, Dawn (Michael) Ganje, Ada, MN, DeLane (Shannon) Duval, Cedar Rapids, Ia, Darla Duval, Denver, CO; two brothers, Orville (Sharon) Duval, Wishek, ND and Warren (Sharon) Duval, New Rockford, ND; one sister, Phyllis Stanton, Minnetonka, MN; five grandchildren, Alsie Wagner, Minneapolis, MN, Amie Wagner, Duluth, MN, Allie Ganje, Ada, MN, Austin Ganje, Ada, MN, Miller Duval, Cedar Rapids, IA; several cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roy Duval, and three sisters, Myrtle Duval, Shirley Duval Roth, and Joyce Duval.

Nadine A. Anderson
Nadine Amanda Anderson of Surprise, AZ passed away on March 26, 2006.
Nadine was born March 1, 1937 at Milnor, ND to Otis Carl and Julia Sanders Larson. She attended schools at Lisbon, ND and Fargo, ND. She married
Leonard Anderson April 7, 1957 at Webster, SD.
Nadine spent several years as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and United Ostomy Association. She was instrumental in starting two chapters of the UOA, one at Concord, CA and one at Visalia, CA. Nadine enjoyed a successful career as an interior designer.
Nadine leaves her husband, Leonard; daughter Nola Anderson of San Francisco; son Mark Anderson, wife Sara and grandson Toby of Kenniwick, WA; brothers Otis Larson of Mesa, AZ and Orlin Larson of Kingman, AZ; sisters Verna Rice of Ada, OK and Grace Ophaug of Larimore, ND, and Burl Dick of Hastings, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Julia Larson of Lisbon, ND and sister Mervyne Olson of Mayville, ND.
Interment will be June 17, 2006 at Grand Valley Cemetery, New Town, ND. Memorials may be made to your local Hospice or Hospice of the Valley, 9720 W. Peoria Ave., #128, Peoria, AZ 85345-6133.

Bertha Abrahamson
Funeral services for Bertha Abrahamson, 94, Fargo, ND, were held on Monday, March 27, 2006 at First Assembly of God Church, Fargo. Mrs. Abrahamson died Wednesday, March 22 at Bethany Homes, Fargo.
Bertha Marie Larvick, daughter of Edward and Frances (Stedman) Larvick, was born October 14, 1911 at Bismarck, ND. She graduated from high school in Temvik, ND. After graduation she worked as a housekeeper on a farm near Enderlin. She taught in a one room school near Linton, ND.
On November 1, 1941 she married
Edward Abrahamson. The couple farmed near Binford, ND. She attended school at Valley City State Teachers College, and after graduation, taught at Sheldon, Wheatland, Cando, and Park River, ND. She retired from teaching in 1977. She owned and operated Ed’s Flowers in Park River for 10 years. Edward died February 28, 1995. Bertha moved to Fargo in 1997. In August, 2004, she entered Bethany Kinder House. She later moved to Bethany Towers.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Helen Abrahamson, Fargo; two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; an infant daughter, Marvel; her son Leroy Abrahamson; two brothers, George and Chester Larvick, and an infant sister.
Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.

Paula Schutt
Funeral services for Paula Schutt, 89, Milnor, ND were held on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the Milnor Lutheran Church, Milnor. Rev. Priscilla Hukki officiated. Mrs. Schutt died Friday, March 24 at Innovis Health, Fargo, ND.
Paula Nyhagen, daughter of Christian and Kari (Byre) Nyhagen was born February 22, 1917 in Cass County, near Pine River, MN. When Paula was three years old, her mother became ill and she went to live with Otto and Annie Olson. They made their home near Buffalo Lake, rural Sargent County, where Paula grew up. Paula graduated from Milnor High School in 1936. She then attended Ellendale Normal College in Ellendale, ND for two years. After earning her teaching certificate, she taught at both Shuman and Dunbar Township Country schools, near Milnor.
On August 30, 1940, Paula married
Wilfred Schutt at Sisseton, SD. They made their home and farmed on the Schutt family farm in Dunbar Township, near Milnor. Paula continued her education at Valley City State College in Valley City, ND. She received her bachelor of science degree in 1974. Over the years, she taught school at Gwinner, Rutland, Forman, Havana, and Cayuga, ND. She retired in 1982. In 1987, Wilfred and Paula moved into Milnor. Wilfred died on January 24, 1999. Paula continued to live in Milnor until July, 2005, when she became a resident of the St. Catherine’s Living Center in Wahpeton.
Paula was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, and later became an active member of Milnor Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two sons, Wendell (Linda) Schutt, Milnor and Preston (Kris Moelter) Schutt, Madison, WI; four daughters, Noreen (Royce) Granlund, Milnor, Linda (Deverne) Briss, Erskine, MN, Dena (Kris) Moody, Pequot Lakes, MN, and Bonnie (Jim) Nelson, Las Vegas, NV; a sister, Astrid Sebens, Milnor; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents and foster parents; her husband, Wilfred, and one sister, Signe Nelson.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Lori Hoffman, Paula Krogen, Sara Walden, Darren Briss, Kurtis Moody, Nicholas Schutt, Allison Schutt, Tommy Leinen, and Jessica Leinen. Honorary pallbearers will be Melinda Spille, Justin Nelson, Meagan Mann, and Emelia Burke.
Special music was provided by pianist and soloist, Kevin Krogen.
Interment at Lakeside Cemetery, Milnor.
