Raymond E. Shelton
1910 - 2005
Ray Shelton, 94, Fargo ND formerly of Tioga dies April 3, 2005 in a retirement home at Houston, TX.
Ray was born on his family farm southeast of Tioga, ND to Theodore Shelton and Mabel (Bloxhorn) Shelton. Ray’s mother died when Ray was an infant, an aunt took him to Iowa for a couple of years. Than returned to Tioga where he was raised by his father. He received only 3 years of education the Nylander School. His dad needed him at home to work, remembers guiding a single plow behind a team of draft horses. At the age of 12 his dad decided Ray needed to go and find a job. Ray worked for farmers, odd jobs. In 1941 he joined the US Army, 2nd armored division continuously under Gen. George Patton. Ray served in North Africa, Sicily, Normandy, France, Belgium, The Rhineland, The Ardennes and central Europe. He was decorated numerous times.
Ray married
Ila Frances Brudevold after the war, opened his business "The Hat Box" making hats. Later he worked for the Fargo Post Office. Retiring after 25 years. Ray was an active Lion Club member, also a leader of Adult Boy Scouts with special needs.
He is survived by his wife Ila, Houston TX; daughter Mary Jane (Shelton) Head, Simonton, TX; Sons, Dr. Davis Shelton, Portland, OR; Chef Mark Shelton, Tucson, AZ.
Ray is preceded in death by his son, Dr. Mike Shelton; sister, Belva (Shelton) Anderson; 2 brothers, Norman and Robert H. Shelton. Memorial service was held Saturday April 16, 2005 at 1st United Methodist in Fargo ND.
Delores L. Kassner
1928 - 2005
Funeral services for Delores L. "Dee" Kassner, 76, of Green Bay, WI, formerly of Wildrose, ND will be 11:00 am Thursday, September 1, 2005, at the Alliance Church in Wildrose, ND. Rev. Greg Knopp will officiate and burial will be in the Sharon Cemetery, McGregor, ND.
Delores was born September 27, 1928 in Wildrose to John and Doris Dragos. On May 14, 1949, she was married
to Arthur Kassner. He preceded her in death in 1994. She had been employed in Green Bay, WI for many years in the hospitality industry. She is survived by two children, Lisa Kassner of California and David Kassner of Green Bay, WI.
Fulkerson Funeral Home of Williston is in charge of local arrangements.
Carroll E. Holte
Carroll E. Holte of Eugene died Aug. 16 of congestive heart failure. He was 92. Holte was born Sept. 11, 1912, in Voltaire, ND to Edward and Emma Chilson Holte. He married
Nora Bakken on Dec. 3, 1938, in Towner, ND. She died June 2, 2001.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Bokn of Eugene; four sons, Terrence of Springfield, Dennis of Elmira, Dewey of Sparks, NV and Curtis of Golconda, NV; three brothers, Arlie of Eugene, Alvin of Orlando, FL and LeRoy of Wahpeton, ND; a sister, Lavon Pederson of Glide; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchild. No service is planned. Poole-Larson Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
Edna May Swantson
Edna May Swantson, 89, Dalbo, MD, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at the Elim Home, Princeton, MN.
Edna, daughter of Willis H. and Anna (Adams) Frounfelter, was born on May 23, 1916 at Temple, ND. She grew up and grduated from high school at Tioga, ND.
Edna was united in marriage on August 4, 1944 with Chester P. Swanson. Chester died on October 20, 2004.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter: Duane Rodney Young (Robyn) of Princeton, MN; Lanney Swanson (Marilyn) of Starbuck, MN; Charles Swanson (Shelly) of Dalbo, MN; and Mavis DiCastri (Kevin) of Minneapolis, MN; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Alice and two brothers, Ralph and Irvin.
Jessica L. Johnson
Jessica L. Johnson, 24, Fargo, ND, formerly of Wyndmere, ND, died Sunday, August 28, 2005, at Meritcare Hospital, Fargo. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 1st, at the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND with Rev. Jack Carlson officiating. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Jessica Lynn Johnson was born August 31, 1980, at Tioga, ND, the daughter of Earl and Michelle (Bernard) Johnson. She grew up and attended grade school at Tioga, moving to Warroad, MN in 1987. She completed her schooling, graduating from High School at Warroad. She worked in the area, moving to Wyndmere, where she worked for Imation in Wahpeton. She recently moved to Fargo.
Jessica enjoyed camping and the lakes with her family; reading and music.
She is survived by her parents, Earl and Michelle Johnson, her brother Joshua, and her sister Jody, all of Wyndmere, ND; her paternal grandparents, Stanford and Myrtle Johnson, Tioga, ND; her maternal grandparents, John and Carole Bernard, Wyndmere, ND.
Lorraine Gilbert
1933 - 2005
Funeral Mass for Lorraine Gilbert, 71, of Rural Williston, North Dakota was held at 11 AM Thursday, September 8, 2005 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Williston. Rev. Raymond Aydt officiated; a local reception followed immediately after the Mass in O’Neill Hall and interment was held at the United Cemetery
in Tioga. A second reception was held at St. Thomas Catholic Church following the burial in Tioga.
Lorraine Francis Gilbert died at her home west of Williston, ND of natural causes on Sunday, September 4, 2005. She and her family recently were made aware of a cancer condition three weeks earlier.
Lorraine was born at Faribault, MN the daughter of Wilford and Ruth (Quinn) Stone on November 22, 1933. She moved to Tioga, ND as a young girl with her family and was raised and educated in the Tioga school system; one year of her high school was spent in Point Loma, CA, and she returned and graduated from Tioga High School in 1951
She was united in marriage to Neil Gilbert at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Ray, ND on December 22, 1952. Neil was employed in the oil field and so they traveled to many various locations, following the oil play, before returning to Williston in 1960. Together they purchased the Mid-Way Lounge on the west edge of Williston. They owned and operated this business for 10 years, before selling it in 1973. In 1975 they purchased their rural ranch home where they have since lived. She was very honored by being named Williston’s Mother of the Year for 1976.
In December of 2002, Lorraine and Neil celebrated 50 years of marriage. To celebrate they chose to take their entire family on a family vacation cruise of the Western Caribbean. This was the perfect gift to themselves, sharing her time with all of her family was most important to Lorraine. She loved to entertain and spend time with family, playing cards in the wintertime and summertime camping at the lake with all her family was truly her wish. The Holidays were always spent at Lorraine’s, the more the merrier. She spent her time in the garden, canning her produce, camping, fishing, traveling, shopping the malls, playing cards, needle work and even league darts were ways to relax and visit with her friends. She loved it all.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Altar Band and her two Siamese kittens, Kitty Boy and Sissy where never left out of the mix.
She will be missed most by her family; husband, Neil, six children and their families whom she was very proud of, Reveena (Ken) Hegge, of Williston, ND, Jackie (Jim) McCall, of Jamestown, ND, Rick Gilbert, Penney Gilbert, Kelly (Kathy) Gilbert, all of Williston, ND and Shelly (Jeff) Anderson, of Alexandria, MN. 10 Grandchildren and 4 Great grandchildren, one sister, Elaine (Harold) Tancre, of Tioga, ND and brother, James Daniel (Linda) Stone, of Detroit, MI.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, and two brothers; William and Robert Stone.

Carolyn Olga (Normark) Fagan
1916 - 2005
Carolyn Olga Normark was born January 29, 1916, in rural Powers Lake Township, Mountrail County to Ole Johan and Otelia Emilia Normark.
She married
William T. Fagan of the Bowbells, ND area.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, an infant sister Emily, a sister Gertrude Thorsen, a brother Adolph Normark of Tioga, ND and a nephew Jon Normark of California.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Gregory Fagen of Chico, CA; granddaughter Marion of Santa Cruz, CA; brother Willard Normark of Mesa, AZ a niece Evelyn C. Johnson of Tioga, ND; nephews Darrell Travis and Lawrence Normark both of Tioga, ND; and James Normark of Meridian, ID.
Carolyn was laid to rest at Garden of Memories Cemetery
in Salinas, CA.
Dustin "Dusty" Frisinger
1981 - 2005
Dustin "Dusty" Frisinger, 24, from Tioga, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2005 at his home in Tioga.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Tioga. Visitation is Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Springan Funeral Home in Stanley and one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial is in Trinity Cemetery, rural Tioga.
Dusty was born Sept. 2, 1981 at Tioga to Larry Frisinger and Kathryn (Jorstad) Meiers. He attended school at Tioga and Stanley and then started working at the Prairie Rose Golf Club in Stanley. Dusty later worked for Roger Evans of Ross farming and then worked in Tioga for Almer Construction and Sheldon Welding.

Dusty is survived by his wife, Lindsey, Tioga; son, Logan, Tioga; mother, Kathryn (Danny) Meiers, Ross; father, Larry Frisinger, Tioga; sister, Chandra (Donnie) Morgel, Mandan; sister, Ashley (Troy) Frisinger, Fargo; nieces Gracelyn and Renata.
