Alma Orth
Alma Orth, 82 of Lidgerwood, ND passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood, ND. A gathering of family & friends will be Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood. Special music by Curt Brownlee.
Alma was born on February 1, 1930 to Frank and Mary (Jirak) Klepetka on the family farm in Liberty Grove Township near Lidgerwood, North Dakota. Alma graduated from Lidgerwood High School, attended Valley City State and taught briefly in rural schools near Lidgerwood. On February 5, 1948 she was united in marriage to Eldon Orth, also of Lidgerwood - a marriage of 58 years. Eldon passed away in 2006.
Alma loved family, cooking and kids. She was a kind, caring and unselfish person. Alma's main job was managing a family of four children and serving as the hub of the family - every gathering included great food and lots of it.
Alma also worked as an aide at the Lidgerwood school for 17 years and together with Eldon managed the Lidgerwood Motel from 1986 - 2004. She served on the Lidgerwood Ambulance service, Public Library Board, drove the Veterans' Van and volunteered at Dakota Estates Retirement Center.
Alma was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for 62 years, serving in many capacities.
Alma is survived by sons Keith (Sharon) of Oklahoma City, OK, Paul, (Pam) of Fargo, ND, Jim (Beth) of Lidgerwood, ND, daughter Mary Roman of Lidgerwood, ND and sisters Marcie Wahl of Mankato, MN; Alice Haugen (Tready) of Wyndmere, ND; brothers Ernie Klepetka (Dixie) of Lisbon, ND; Adolph (Marianne) Klepetka of Traverse City, MI, and sister-in-laws Beverly Klepetka of Aberdeen, SD and Diane Klepetka, Hankinson, ND. Alma is also survived by seven grandchildren David Orth (Rhonda), Tanya Cunningham, Michael Orth (Katie), Trisha Pearson (Baxter), Crystal Ennen (Jesse), Sophia Fuka and Anna Fuka; and five great grandchildren, Chris Ennen, Shelby Orth, Gwendalyn Orth, Hannah Cunningham, Benjamin Orth, and many nieces and nephews.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband Eldon, parents Frank and Mary, brothers Chester, Victor and Albert, sister-in-law Evelyn Strouse and son-in-law Jeff Roman.
Clarice Rosalia Brackin
Clarice Brackin, 95 of Lidgerwood, ND passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at Sheyenne Crossing Care Center in West Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lidgerwood, ND with Fr. Robert Smith as celebrant and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lidgerwood. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are: all her grandchildren. Organist will be Connie Baker with special music by Cindy Jelinek.
Clarice Rosalia (Rollofson) Brackin was born November 17, 1916 in Starkweather, ND to John and Estelle Rollofson. She attended school in Starkweather. She then graduated from North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND, after which she worked in the book store, where she met and married
George Brackin in July 1939. Clarice and George moved to Lidgerwood in 1949, had 6 children and operated Brackin Chevrolet & Implement until 1982. Clarice was involved in many school, church and civic organizations until they moved to West Fargo in 1998. Clarice most recently lived at Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo, ND.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George, granddaughter, Claire Bailey and her parents.
She is survived by her 6 children (and spouses): George (Bonnie Kohoutek) Brackin, Jr., John (Paulette Tisch) Brackin, Patricia (Patrick) Goolsbey, Bill Brackin, Jerry Brackin, Kathy Bailey; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and her brother: Jack Rollofson.
Emily M. Helmer
Emily M. Helmer, 87 of Lidgerwood, ND passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND. Funeral service will be Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood, ND with Rev. Joseph Crosswhite officiating and burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Lidgerwood. Visitation will be Friday, April 27, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Lidgerwood. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are: Leon Helmer, Marlin Helmer, Lyle Willprecht, Jr., Todd Willprecht, LaVerne Honl, Keith Storbakken & Herb Budack. Special music by Curt Brownlee.
Emily (Willprecht) Helmer was born September 27, 1924 in rural Lidgerwood, ND, the daughter of Emil & Mary Willprecht. She was baptized on October 26, 1924 at Immanuel Lutheran Church by Rev. Cloeter and confirmed in May 1938 at Havana Lutheran church by Rev. Bierwagen. She graduated from Forman High School in 1942. On April 17, 1953 she was united in marriage to Alvin Helmer at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She worked for Ivadell’s Café, Red Owl and First National Bank for 28 years. She was active in her circle at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and enjoyed quilting at the church. She enjoyed watching the Twins, NDSU football & basketball.
Emily is survived by her son: Scott Helmer, Fargo, ND; brothers: Virgil (Emmy) Willprecht, Arden Hills, MN, Harvey (Eileen) Willprecht, Willmar, MN and Lyle (Leona) Willprecht, Lidgerwood, ND; sister: Marion Bohn, Sisseton, SD and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Alvin; her parents: Emil & Mary; an infant son and five brothers: Darrel (Pete), Wayne, John, Ernie and Kenneth (Shorty).
Frances Shirley Madsen
Frances Shirley Madsen, 74 of Hankinson, ND passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at her home in Hankinson, ND.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Frank Family Funeral Home in Hankinson, ND. Burial will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery
Mesa, AZ. A gathering of friends will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Frances Shirley Anderson Madsen was born on November 26, 1937 in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Gordon and Helen (Biggs) Anderson. She attended Drake High School, graduating in 1956. Over the years she traveled to many different states. Frances worked at Minn-Dak as a custodian for 2 years and served as a girl scout leader in Denver, CO and Phoenix, AZ. She was a lifetime member of the Thorton, CO VFW Post 7945 and also served as an officer charter member of the Moose Lodge in Aurora, CO. In April 1977 she married
Norman Madsen. They enjoyed their summers in Hankinson, ND and their winters in Mesa, AZ. Frances enjoyed camping, fishing, sewing, gardening and spending time with her great grandchildren.
She is survived by four daughters: Carla Barr III, Bradenton, FL, Frances (Kenneth) McGraw and Rebecca Wieser, Hankinson, ND and Tracy Mitchell, Mandan, ND; two step sons: Dean Madsen, Limon, CO and Duane Madsen, Columbus, NM; one step daughter: Cheryl Brown, Lochbuie, CO; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a brother: Richard Anderson, Hankinson, ND, nieces & nephews and many special friends including Jerry Wirtz, Hankinson, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Norman Madsen, daughter: Colette Lancaster and grandson: Alex Houle.

Harley George Trinka
We are saddened at the loss of our husband, father, and grandfather, great grandfather Harley George Trinka on April 8, 2012. Dad’s legacy lives on in his family with his wife of 65 years; Loraine, daughter; Coleen (Andy) Ahmann of Portland, Oregon, daughter; Susan (Dewey) Uhlir of Fargo, ND, son; David (Davie) Trinka of South Haven, Michigan, granddaughters; Suzie (Patrick) Loree, Dakota and Chloe Trinka, grandsons; Cameron (Amy) Haaland, Jason (Emily) and Joshua (Tiana) Ahmann, great grandchildren; Grady, Andrew, Audrey Ahmann & baby Loree expected in July 2012, niece; Marjorie Hook of Bountiful, Utah, nephew; George (Kathy) Mallinger of Lidgerwood, ND; sister; Beatrice Halvorson of Wahpeton, ND, and many long time and loyal friends, relatives and neighbors.
Harley was born in Dexter Township, to George and Dorothy (Wodrich) Trinka on May 5, 1922. He attended the country school, which adjoined his parents farm; homesteaded in 1914. Harley farmed with his father before entering the service in 1944. After training at the US Naval Training Center in Chicago, Harley served his country on the USS Algol in the Asiatic and Pacific areas. Before his honorable discharge in 1946, he achieved the rank of machinist first class. Harley married
Loraine Brosowske of Colfax on October 27, 1946 at Peace Lutheran Church in Barney, ND. They settled on the family farm and raised three children. Along with a grain farm they maintained a dairy herd. Harley retired from farming in 1980. He continued to work for area farmers, drove Lidgerwood School Bus, and enjoyed his hobbies of hunting and fishing. Harley was a talented wood worker. With ash trees from the family farm he built furniture and beautiful small treasures for his family and his church. Harley and Loraine moved to Lidgerwood in 1997. He continued to work on his wood projects and always enjoyed assisting his neighbors and friends. He received his honorable high school diploma form the American Legion in 2004. Harley and Loraine were honored at Lidgerwood’s 125th celebration in 2011 as the town’s longest married
couple. Harley was a faithful member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, serving as a trustee. He was a director and president of Richland County Farmers Union, served as Dexter Township Accessor, and served on the steering committee for the Lidgerwood Swimming Pool. Harley was a proud member of the American Legion Post #84.
Harley bravely fought cancer the last five years of his life. He was proud of his heritage and often told the Roger Maris Cancer Center Staff he was a “Tough Bohemian”. Harley was preceded in death by an infant daughter, his parents; George and Dorothy Trinka.
Words cannot express how much we will miss him, how much we learned from him, or how much we loved him. God bless the life and memory of Harley George Trinka.
Harley’s family would like to thank the loving care given by Roger Maris Cancer Center, Dr. Shelby Terstreip, Richland County Health & Riveredge Hospice.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Lidgerwood, ND with Rev. Joseph Crosswhite officiating and burial with military honors by the Lidgerwood American Legion Bullis Post #84 and the North Dakota National Guard at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service led by Rev. Patrick Loree at 7:00 p.m. all at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Also visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be; David Huckle, Joel Kroeger, Roman Heley, Daryl Foertsch, Harvey Bergstrom & Bruno Tesch. Organist will be Curt Brownlee and special music by Rev. Patrick Loree.
Jeffrey Roman
Jeffrey Allan Roman, 51, of Lidgerwood passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012 unexpectedly in his home.
Jeffrey was born on May 19th, 1960 to George and Janice Roman in Pennsylvania. His youth was spent in Pennsylvania and Washington. He joined the U.S. Army in 1978 where he served in Italy and Germany.
On June 10, 2005 he was united in marriage to his soul mate, Mary Orth Fuka of Lidgerwood. Jeff was employed as a plumber with Manning Mechanical of Fargo. Jeff enjoyed fishing and spending time at their lake home. Jeff loved birthdays and half birthdays, coffee, travel, competing and appreciated games of any sort. Go, Eagles! Jeff was our McIver. He could fix or build anything. He enjoyed keeping up with, and was so proud of, all his kids and was so looking forward to grandchildren. Most of all, he loved just being with his Mary.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Mary. He is also survived by his two children Tamatha of Chiba-shi, Chiba, Japan and Cory of Barto, Pennsylvania and two step-daughters Sophia Fuka of Phoenix, Arizona and Anna Fuka of Valley City, North Dakota, his father George, stepmother Shirley, mother Janice, brothers Lance and Bobby, his sister Cathy, and his many friends across the country.
Jeff’s ashes will be scattered at his favorite place, Dumarce Lake SD, in May on his birthday.
Lucinda Lawrence
Lucinda Lawrence, 91, formerly of Lidgerwood, ND died on February 3rd, 2012 at Bethany on 42nd (Fargo, ND). Services will be held Wednesday, February 8th at 11AM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Lidgerwood, ND with Pastor Joseph Crosswhite officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Lidgerwood. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 7th from 6-8PM at the Frank Family Funeral Home in Lidgerwood.
Lucinda was born to Gottlieb and Emma Tesch on November 15, 1920 in Duerr Township, Richland County (ND). She was a lifelong resident of Lidgerwood, ND area until moving to Fargo in 2010. In 1938 she married
Albert Lawrence of Wildrose, ND and they were blessed with 60 years of married
life together. Albert died in 1997.
Lucinda is survived by daughter Connie (Darrell) Sorensen, Aberdeen, SD; son Kim (Beverly) Lawrence, Durango, CO; grandchildren Beth (Paul) Pridday, Detroit Lakes, MN; and Bret (Susan) Sorensen, Bismarck, ND; and 3 great grandchildren: Luke, Maggie and Anna Sorensen. She is also survived by sisters Cordula (Bob) Klemm, Clear Lake, SD and Maida Eldevick, Moorhead, MN.
In addition to her husband Albert, she was preceded in death by a son, Noel and brothers, Jerry and Manny Tesch.
Manford E. Tosse
Manford Einar Tosse, 69, of Britton, SD passed away Thursday March 15th 2012 at the Wheatcrest Hills nursing home. The funeral service will be at 11am Monday March 19th at Bergen Lutheran Church in Lidgerwood, ND with Pastor Terrill Sorensen officiating and burial will be in Bergen Lutheran Cemetery
rural Lidgerwood. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Sunday March 18that the Frank Family Funeral Home of Lidgerwood and for one hour before the service at Bergen between 10-11am on Monday. Pallbearers will be his six children. Honorary pallbearers are all his grandchildren.
Manford was born January 2nd 1943 in Veblen, SD the son of Einar and Myrtle (Hookom) Tosse. He was confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church, attended a rural elementary school house in Marboe Township, and graduated from Veblen High School . He was united in marriage to Darlene Mikesh on February 3rd 1964 in a double wedding with Darlene’s sister Paulette (Keith) Storbakken. He worked in Lidgerwood at the Farmers Union Oil Co. They moved to Hancock, MN in 1969 and then to Van Wert, OH in 1970 where he worked as an automobile mechanic at the local Ford Mercury Lincoln dealer. In 1973 they moved back to the midwest and lived in Chokio, MN while he worked as a technician at a repair shop in Morris, MN . He began farming with his father Einar on the rural Marboe Township small family farm so in 1974 they moved back to Lidgerwood eventually moving a home on to the same farmstead. He served on the Bergen council and was a member of the Bergen choir. Farming proved difficult so after that era he worked at various odd jobs including NAPA in Lidgerwood and then at Dakota Magic Casino starting in 1999. In January 2001 he moved to Veblen, SD. In October 2008 he moved to Britton, SD. He enjoyed visiting, story-telling, camping, hunting, fishing, bowling, and playing cards. He also enjoyed clowning around while having fun with family and friends; and he really valued the freedom he found living in a rural community.
Manford is survived by his children: Darla (Harlan) Staples of Herman, MN; Darin (Kris) Tosse of Rochester, MN; Jackie (Randy) Lien of Veblen, SD; Jason (Billie) Tosse of Aberdeen, SD; Shane (Kari) Tosse of Paradise, CA; Shawn (April) Tosse of Britton, SD. By two sisters: Patricia (Galen) Grove of Granite Falls, MN and Myrna (Vern) Levens of Golden Valley, MN. By 13 grandchildren: Brandon, Bradley, Kassandra, Dillon, Lucas, Kelsey, Kendall, Karlee, Devin, Hannah, Wyatt, Mariah, and Kaimbree.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Einar and Myrtle Tosse; an unborn daughter; and an infant grandson Hunter Michael Tosse.
