She was born Oct. 26, 1924, to Ole and Andreanna Myhre near York. She married
E. “Ted” Kjelstrom, March 31, 1946, in Rugby.
Survivors: husband; sons, Kerwin, Grand Forks, Kent, Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor Russell, Macon, Va., Norma Meluis, Plymouth, Mich.; brother, Marvin, Surprise, Ariz.
Funeral: Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, Rugby.
Burial: Persilla Watts Cemetery, Rugby.
Visitation: Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. in Anderson Funeral Home, Rugby.
Arthur Johnson
Feb. 18, 1935-Oct. 9, 2006
JAMESTOWN – Arthur Albert Johnson, 71, Devils Lake, formerly of Jamestown, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, in a Devils Lake nursing home.
He was born Feb. 18, 1935, to Albert and Lydia Johnson in Jamestown. He served in the National Guard for six years.
He is survived by his brother, Donald, of Devils Lake.
Graveside service: Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.
Visitation: Today from 1 to 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. in Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake.
Elinor Keller
Sept. 5, 1916-Oct. 13, 2006
Elinor Keller, 90, Minot, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, in a Minot nursing home.
Elinor Genevieve Thoreson was born on Sept. 5, 1916, the daughter of Dr. Henry B. and Olydia (Gates) Thoreson in Opheim, Mont. She was raised and educated in Mohall, graduated from Mohall High School. She then attended French’s Business College in Minot, graduating in 1935.
Elinor married
Robert L. “Bob” Keller on Dec. 28, 1936, at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Mohall. They made their home in Sherwood for a short time before moving to Minot in 1941. Elinor was active in the Ward County election boards for nearly 40 years. She was also the coordinator for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Minot for 12 years. Bob passed away on March 25, 1995.
She was a very strong-willed woman, who for the last 30 years had endured a very serious case of shingles which never kept her from continuing with her active life.
She will be remembered for her love of the English language with daily crossword puzzles in The Minot Daily News. She also entered and won many slogan or puzzle-type entries. She was gifted with the ability to write backwards or mirror image, aka obverse. She and Bob were active in rock collecting, especially in agates. She also enjoyed music and played the violin, clarinet, piano and the organ.
She was a former member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot, where she was a grand regent of Catholic Daughters of the Americas and held a state office. She was also active in the St. Leo’s PTO. She was currently a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot.
Surviving family includes: sons, Richard Keller, of Georgia, Thomas Keller and his wife, Darlene, Alpine, Calif., and Daniel Keller, Minot; daughter, Donna Becker Olson and her husband, Rod, Lignite; grandchildren, Jeanne Becker Gohl and her husband, Russ, Coreen Becker Caufield and her husband, Jerry, and Mitch Becker; eight great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elinor was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son-in-law, Willie Becker; and brother, Grant Thoreson.
Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot.
Interment: Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Monday (today) from noon to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Vigil prayer service: Monday (tonight) at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Raymond Norby
July 24, 1929-Oct. 13, 2006
Raymond Norby, 77, of Charlson, North Dakota died Friday morning, October 13, 2006 at the Mercy Medical Center in Williston, ND.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 16, 2006 at the Keene First Lutheran Church. Rev. James Stenslie will officiate and inurnment will follow at a later date at Good Hope Cemetery
in Keene.
Raymond L. Norby was born on July 24, 1929 to Henry and Ivonetta (Martin) Norby at Charlson, ND. He was raised in the area and attended John Olson School. As a young man he worked in the area for neighboring farmers. At a young age he traveled to the West Coast and worked in the sawmills. He later returned to North Dakota and worked in Minot for the railroad.
He entered the U.S. Marine Corps on September 7, 1951 at Minneapolis, MN and was stationed in Alaska. He was honorably discharged on September 6, 1953 at Camp Lejeune, NC.
On December 18, 1954, Raymond was united in marriage to Shirley Kummer at Watford City, North Dakota. Raymond worked in various locations around the western United States while in the oilfield until returning to Charlson in 1964. He continued to farm, ranch and work in the oil field for many years until his retirement.
Raymond was a member of Keene First Lutheran Church. He also served on a number of boards in the area including the school board and the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
Raymond is survived by his wife Shirley of Charlson, ND; son, Kelly (Lynette) Norby of Charlson, and their children, Erin and Ross; son, Mark (Kari) Norby of Des Lacs, ND and their children, Deana (Rick) Sorgenfrei, Miranda Norby, Faye (Sam) Lopez, Matthew Norby and Adrienne Norby; six great-grandchildren; brother, John (Elvera) Norby of Everett, WA; sisters, Iva (David) Jones of Keene, ND, Doris Ruland of Bothell, WA, Lillian Dahl of Fargo, ND, and Betty (Phil) Stolz of Bethune, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Colleen; brothers, Harold, Lyle, Ernest, Francis, Richard and Clayton; and sisters, Donna, Gertrude and Carol.
The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words and deeds. We ask that you remember Ray as a kind, intelligent man who always tried to do his very best at all he did, be it family, friends or work.
Friends may call at the Fulkerson Funeral Home in Watford City on Sunday, October 15, 2006 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.
Phyllis Bosley

KALISPELL, Mont. – Phyllis Jean Bosley, 80, Kalispell, formerly of the Parshall area, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, in a Kalispell hospital.
She was born Feb. 16, 1926, to George and Rebecca Baker in Van Hook. She was once married
to Floyd Fredricks. She later married
Bob Bosley in Clyde Park, Mont.
Survivors: husband; daughter, Connie State, Hannaford, Calif.; sons, Jerry Fredricks, Robert Bosley III, both Kalispell, Sid Fredricks, The Dalles, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Johnson, Parshall.
A memorial service was Oct. 7 in Johnson Mortuary, Kalispell. There will also be a memorial service in Parshall in the summer of 2007.
