Dr. David Morstad

Dr. David Morstad, 78, of Grand Forks, formerly of Minot, ND, died Sunday, October 8, 2006, at home.
David Paul Morstad was born December 9, 1927, in New York Mills, MN, to Andrew and Alice (Bogen) Morstad. He graduated from New York Mills High School in 1945. He attended the University of Minnesota and graduated from Northern Illinois College of Optometry in 1950.
David married
Marilyn Bernauer in Chicago on August 20, 1949. They lived in Minnesota, where he practiced as an optometrist. In 1962 they moved to Minot, ND, where he was associated with the Minot Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat Clinic until 1980. He was in private practice at Dakota Square in Minot until he retired in 1986.
Among David’s memberships were the First Presbyterian Church, Minot Elks Lodge and Elks Community Band, Minot City Band, the North Dakota and American Optometric Associations.
After his retirement, David and Marilyn spent winters in Mesa, AZ, where he enjoyed golfing and playing trumpet and French horn in several bands. They moved to Grand Forks, ND in 2005.
David is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of Grand Forks; children: Penny (Dean) Schumacher, East Grand Forks, MN; David (Karla) Morstad, Jr., Moorhead, MN; Janelle (Dave) Hedlin, Kenmare, ND; grandchildren: Heather (Brandon) Vandervort, East Grand Forks; Dirk Schumacher, Fargo; Haley Hedlin, Baltimore, MD; Joey Hedlin, Grand Forks; Carly Hedlin, Kenmare; Abby Asiama, Moorhead; great-grandson, Jonah Vandervort; brothers: Theodore (Geneva) Morstad, Forest Lake, MN; Robert (Fern) Morstad, New York Mills; sisters: Alice (Milan) Hass, Fargo; Jackie (Mervin) Thompson, Perham, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Ann Haakana and LaVay Yaeger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elks Camp Grassick, Altru Hospice, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Memorial Service: Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Grand Forks.

JAMESTOWN – Laura Skeldum, 80, Minot, formerly of Jamestown, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, in a Minot hospital.
She was born Aug. 31, 1926, to Andrew and Johanna Spitzer in Bismarck. She married
Herbert Skeldum Feb. 7, 1948, in Jamestown.
Survivors: daughters, Diana Kammerer, Oakes, Barb Baker, Dickinson; sons, Don, Minot, Dick, Anthem, Ariz., Bill, Johnstown, Colo., Chuck, Fargo; 13 grandchildren; brothers, Edwin and Reuben, both Valley City; sister, Darlene Hagerott, Casper, Wyo.
Funeral: Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
Visitation: Today from 2 to 8 p.m. in Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Loren Toso
Sept. 20, 1951-Sept. 28, 2006
DEVILS LAKE – Loren Douglas Toso, 55, West Fargo, formerly of Devils Lake, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, in his home.
He was born Sept. 20, 1951, to Howard and Thelma Toso in Devils Lake.
Survivors: companion, Leta Holsinger, West Fargo; son, Rob Johnston, Hillsboro; sister, Pamela Trouville, of Florida; brothers, Kenton, of Utah, Jon, of New Mexico, Jerome, of Texas, Gary and Kevin, both of Florida.
Memorial service: Friday at 2 p.m. in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake.
Visitation: Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. in Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake.

DEVILS LAKE – Carol Evonne Anderson, 67, Fargo, formerly of Devils Lake, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, in a Jamestown hospital.
She was born July 27, 1939, to Walter and Eva Anderson in Devils Lake.
Survivors: brother, Ron, of Crary; sister, Janice Wilhelm, Torrington, Wyo.
Funeral: Today at 2:30 p.m. in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake.
Burial: Devils Lake Cemetery. (Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake).
Erna Baesler
July 21, 1916-Oct. 4, 2006
HAZEN – Erna Baesler, 90, Hazen, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, in a Glen Ullin nursing home.
She was born July 21, 1916, to Christ and Lydia Brunmeier in Krem. She married
Otto Baesler in October 1947.
Survivors: sons, Otto, Denver, Vern, Hazen; one
grandson; one great-grandson; brothers, Clarence and Ivan, both Hazen.
Funeral: Saturday at 10 a.m. MDT in Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen
Burial: Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Hazen.
Visitation: One hour before the funeral in the funeral home.
Barry Stewart
Feb 25, 1947-Oct. 7, 2006
DEVILS LAKE – Barry Stewart, 59, Southam, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, in a Fargo hospital.
He was born Feb 25, 1947, to William and Maxine Stewart in Devils Lake and was also raised by William and Shirley Stewart after Maxine died. He served in the Army during the war in Vietnam. He married
Priscilla Kautz May 27, 1972, in Devils Lake. She died July 11, 1992. He married
Sandy Mongeon in 1994 in Fargo.
Survivors: sons, Brandon, Hawley, Minn., Brock, Fargo; three grandchildren; Shirley, of Southam; brother, Bruce, of Southam.
Funeral: Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Devils Lake.
