DEVILS LAKE – Jack Hager, 76, Grand Forks, formerly of Devils Lake, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, in a Grand Forks nursing home.
He was born July 17, 1930, to John and Magdalina Hager in Selz. He married
Agnes Schmaltz Oct. 5, 1954, in Minnewaukan.

He was born May 11, 1981, to Robert and Gayle Lee in Grafton.

Rev. Frank M. Cromie
April 11, 1942-Oct. 4, 2006
The Rev. Frank M. Cromie, 64, Mohall, formerly of Sawyer, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, in his home.
Frank was born on April 11, 1942, in Santa Rosa, Calif., the son of Frank William and Esther (Kvalheim) Cromie. He attended school there until he joined the United States Navy on April 8, 1960. He served aboard three different aircraft carriers in the far Pacific until his honorable discharge on April 10, 1963, when he went to work for the California Division of Forestry as a firefighter.
0n October 14, 1963, Frank joined the United States Army and served in Oklahoma, Germany and in Vietnam, with the 27th Infantry Regiment of the 25th Division in Chu Chi, South Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on March 8, 1968.
After his discharge, Frank went to work for the Dallas Police Department, as a police officer. He worked in Radio Patrol, served as a field training officer, was a member of the S.W.A.T. team and with the K-9 division. While living in Dallas, he was a fishing guide on area lakes, fished professional BASS tournaments, and raised cocker spaniels and German shepherds.
Later, Frank went to work for the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Department in Crescent City, Calif., as a Resident Deputy for the small community of Smith River. After a few years, Frank went to work for the Westbrook Wood Products in Smith River as a Log Driver in northern California, central Oregon and even in Alaska. Frank was one of the first log drivers to haul logs off Mount St. Helens after the eruption.
In 1983, Frank became involved in the Christian Ministry, establishing a church in Crescent City. Later he went to Bible college, and then into active ministry, serving churches in Peoria, Ill., and Sawyer. While serving in Peoria, Frank contracted cancer for the first time, and was afflicted again in Sawyer. Suffering from the effects of Vietnam and police work, the Department of Veterans Affairs placed him on total disability. Retiring from the ministry, and buying a house in Mohall, Frank was afflicted five more times with cancer caused by Agent Orange exposure while serving in Vietnam.
Frank married
Michelle Swift in Daly City, Calif., in March of 1968. She survives living in Mohall. They had three daughters, Lisa (Willie) Bennett, Mohall, Julie Remillard, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Janie (Rob) Hill, Yakima, Wash.; five grandchildren, Michelle and Jimmy Bennett, Ashley Remillard, Isabella Hill and Hannah Hill; mother, Esther Due, Santa Rosa, Calif.; stepbrothers, Fred Due Jr., living in California, and Daniel Due.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Frank William Cromie; and stepfather, Fred Due Sr., who raised Frank.
Visitation: Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7th and 8th, 2006, from noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Prayer service: Sunday, Oct. 8th, at 5 p.m., at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Funeral service: Monday, Oct. 9th, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the Crossroads Baptist Church, Minot.

Allen D. Crockett
May 4, 1940-Aug. 31, 2006
Allen Daryel Crockett, 66, of Minot, ND, and Charlevoix, MI, passed away August 31, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, Minot.
He was born at Depot Creek, Genoa, WV, May 4, 1940, the son of William and Laura Crockett. He grew up in Wayne County, WV. He was the youngest of 10 children, four brothers and five sisters. Allen married
Elizabeth McClellan of Charlevoix in Victorville, CA, Dec. 28, 1962. They had five children.
He joined the United States Air Force in February 1961. He served two tours in Southeast Asia. After 20 years and several decorations he retired. Allen attended Two Mile School and Wayne County High School. He held a master’s degree from Central Michigan University, a bachelor’s degree from Lake Superior State University and an associate’s degree from North Central Michigan College. Prior to his passing, Allen worked for the Veterans Administration counseling vets in Minot. He enjoyed a mutual respect and high regard with the veterans.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Allen loved his family and enjoyed being with them in his free time. He was an avid guitar player, singer, reader and writer. He enjoyed his work and helping people to find hope. He loved to travel and saw many parts of the world. He was a collector of unusual things. He was a brilliant conversationalist. He made a real impact in people’s lives and touched the hearts of all who knew him. He was loved by many and is going to be missed by all.
Allen is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth (McClellan) Crockett; children, Joyce Crockett, Traverse City, MI, Judy Crockett, Suttons Bay, MI, David (Melissa) Crockett, Mt. Pleasant, MI, Susan (John) Hutchens, Indianapolis, IN, and Daniel Crockett, Traverse City, MI; grandchildren, Nikkole Garnett, Kelly (Ashley) Garnett II, Jennifer Garnett, Brady Garnett, Chelsea Amrozowicz, Jordan Amrozowicz, Samuel Crockett, Brian Crockett, Sierra Crockett, Allen J. Crockett, Mitchell Crockett, Brandan Crockett, Zaccaria Hutchens, Tealeigh Hutchens, Thomas Hutchens, Daniel J. Crockett, Hailey Crockett, Caleb Crockett and Danelle Crockett; sister, Naomi (Oscar) Davis, Ashland, KY; brothers, Charles (Shirley) Crockett, Louisville, KY, Paul (Beatrice) Crockett, Huntington, WV; sisters-in-law, Carol (Gary) Field, Virginia “Gene” Fields, Arlene Antoine, Betty Kewagshken, Evelyn Didrickson; brothers-in-law, Thurlow “Sam” (Joyce) McClellan, George McClellan and Stephen McClellan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many close family friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Laura Crockett; brothers, William Crockett Jr., and Herman Crockett; sisters, Gladys Fox, Nola Rollings, Mayme Thompson and Virginia Marshall.
A funeral service was held Sept. 7 at Stone Funeral Home, Petoskey, MI. The Rev. Thurlow “Sam” McClellan officiated. Burial was in Undine Cemetery, Charlevoix, MI.
Memorial service: Saturday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. in First Assembly of God, 1805-2nd St. SE, Minot.
