Joseph Hollinberger
ROCK LAKE, N.D. -- Joseph "Joe" Hollinberger, 92, Woodburn, Ore., formerly of Rock Lake, died Feb. 23, 2000, in French Prairie Care Center, Woodburn.
Joseph Hollinberger was born April 7, 1907, the son of Spencer and Lavinia (Kinney) Hollinberger, in Clyde, N.D., where he attended school. He married
Edna Hall on Sept. 24, 1932, in Cando, N.D. They farmed in the Rock Lake area until 1969. They spent winters in Corpus Christi, Texas. In 1994, they moved to Woodburn. Edna Hollinberger died Oct. 26, 1999.
He is survived by a daughter, Lois (Clifford) Michelson, Woodburn; three grandchildren; sisters, Mable Murrdell and Opal Knutson, both of Seattle; and a brother, Elmer, Yakima, Wash.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Amy and Helen; and brothers, Howard and Harry.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, United Methodist Church, Rock Lake.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Rock Lake (Niewoehner, Rolla).
Karol Krom
MILTON, N.D. -- Karol L. "Charlie" Krom, 81, Milton, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at home.
Karol L. Krom was born May 17, 1918, the son of Louis and Mary (Mess) Krom, in Osnabrock, N.D. He attended school in Osnabrock and Nekoma, N.D. He farmed in the Osnabrock area until retiring in 1980. He married
Marjoire Sanders on Nov. 24, 1978, in Milton. She died Feb. 15, 2000.
He is survived by brothers, Tom (Betty), Enderlin, N.D., Victor (Ardith), Langdon, N.D., and Donald (Ardelle), Osnabrock; sisters, Anna Moore, Miller, S.D., Mary (Henry) Bebert, St. Cloud, Minn., and Eva (Raymond) Westby, Langdon; stepchildren, Phyllis (Don) Sunderland, Fargo, Virginia (Wayne) French, Edina, Minn., Lois Barnes, Ramstein, Germany, and Earl (Sheila) Sanders and Terry (Mary) Sanders, both of Osnabrock; eight grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Krom and Marie Krom, both of Langdon, and Lillian Krom, Winona, Minn.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Peter, Joseph, Rudolph and Louis.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, Milton Lutheran Church.
Visitation: 5 to 6: 30 p.m. today, and one hour before services all in the church.
Burial: Milton Memorial Cemetery

S. Bock-Tompkins
Sharon Bock-Tompkins, 61, formerly of Grand Forks, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, in The Francis House, Syracuse, N.Y.
Sharon Kay Bock was born Sept. 20, 1938, the daughter of Albert and Marian (Harju) Bock, in Grand Forks. She worked as a legal secretary for E. Parker Brown III Attorney at Law in Syracuse.
She is survived by sons, John Tompkins, Cicero, N.Y., Michael Tompkins, North Syracuse, N.Y., James Tompkins, Troy, N.Y., Edward Tompkins, Syracuse; seven grandchildren; a brother, Edward, Grand Forks; and a sister, M. Elizabeth Longnecker, in Washington.
Services: 7 p.m. Saturday, in Syracuse.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday in New York.
Burial: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sunnywood Gardens Cemetery, Grand Forks (Sears-Middleton-Jones, Syracuse, and Amundson, Grand Forks).
Yvonne Jenson
Yvonne Jenson, 76, 1312 Belmont Road, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at home.
Yvonne Nesvig was born April 5, 1923, the daughter of James and Josephine (Broderson) Nesvig, in Buxton, N.D., where she attended school. She married
Robert Jenson on Dec. 8, 1945. They lived in Petersburg, Va., before moving to Grand Forks in 1948. She worked for Benners Junior Shop and later at Silverman's Clothing, Grand Forks.
She is survived by her husband; and sisters, Mae (Andy) Tweten, Mentor, Minn., and Reta Hansen, Enterprise, Ore.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Lynn; and a sister, Janet Lerom.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Sharon Lutheran Church, Grand Forks.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery.
K. Penwarden
Kathryn Penwarden, 93, Grand Forks, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, in Valley Memorial Home-Eldercare.
Kathryn Marie O'Connell was born Nov. 2, 1906, the daughter of Patrick and Teresa (Phalen) O'Connell, in Grand Forks, where she graduated from high school. She was a seamstress, working alterations for The Blacksmith shop, Buttrey's Mary Elizabeth's, Diana Hughes and Stevensons. She married
Francis "Frank" Penwarden on July 28, 1941. He died Aug. 17, 1985.
She is survived by a son, James, Grand Forks; daughters, Mary Jean (Stan) Johannes, Spooner, Wis., and June Ann (Allen "Gene") Lawrence, Grand Forks; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gerald (Eva), East Grand Forks.
She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter; and brothers, Emmett, Raymond and Edward.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Monday, St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Norman Funeral Home, Columbia Road.

Lila Stephenson
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Lila Stephenson, 86, Thief River Falls, formerly of Goodridge, Minn., died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, in Northwest Medical Center Convalescent Nursing Care Unit, Thief River Falls, where she had lived since October 1995.
Lila Haugen was born March 30, 1913, the daughter of Thomas and Sigrid (Olson) Haugen, in Nielsville, Minn., where she attended school. She worked on the farm and did domestic and waitress work. She married
Wilfred "Ole" Stephenson on Nov. 25, 1950, in Mavie, Minn. They lived in Goodridge. Wilfred Stephenson died Oct. 7, 1994.
She is survived by a son, Ronnie, Hot Springs, Ariz.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Oscar, Lewis, Henry, Albert, Obert, Gilbert and two infants; and sisters, Gina, Tillie, Myrtle, Clara, Nora and Lillian.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, Faith Lutheran Church, Goodridge.
