Lloyd T. Jordre
OBERON, N.D. -- Lloyd T. Jordre, 85, Oberon, died Monday, April 26, 1999, at home.
Lloyd Thomas Jordre was born Dec. 21, 1973, the son of Iver and Mabel (Johnson) Jordre, in Sheyenne, N.D. He graduated from high school in Oberon in 1932. He attended North Dakota State University for a year. He returned home and farmed. He married
Vi Erickson on Sept. 11, 1940, in Sheyenne. They farmed in Oberon Township, Benson County, N.D., until retiring in 1994.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Nyle (Ann), Aurora, Colo.; two grandchildren; brothers, Lynn (Berniece), Sheyenne, Irvin (Avis), Bismarck, and Clarence and Ernest, both of Oberon.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy; a sister, Emma Jordre; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Jordre.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Thursday, Calvary Lutheran Church, Oberon.
Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a 6: 30 p.m. prayer service, Nelson Funeral Home, Maddock, N.D., and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Hillside Cemetery, Oberon.
Arnold Stokes
CARRINGTON, N.D. -- Arnold Stokes, 88, Carrington, died Jan. 30, 1999, in Reno, Nev.
Arnold Stokes married
Emma Veen on May 7, 1938. They lived in Wells County, N.D., where he farmed. He retired in 1969. He moved to Carrington.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Linda Hunt, Reno; a son, Dallas, Redondo Beach, Calif.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Minnie Overbeck and Melba Bichler, both of Spokane, Wash., and Elaine Burleson, Yuma, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington.
Burial: Carrington Cemetery
(Evans, Carrington).
Herbert C. Muth
PEMBINA, N.D. -- Herbert C. Muth, 66, Pembina, died Monday, April 26, 1999, in Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, N.D.
Herbert Chester Muth was born Nov. 14, 1932, the son of Alfred and Hedwig (Senebald) Muth, in Winnipeg, where he attended school. He worked for the Canada Bread Co. before moving to Pembina in 1964. He owned and operated a Standard station and later an Amoco station. He owned and operated Hartz Grocery and managed the Lamoure Golf Club. He married
Elsie Craib on Sept. 17, 1955, in Winnipeg.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Corrine (Kirk) Westerson, Grand Junction, Colo.; a son, Alexander (Tammy), Hallock, Minn.; three grandchildren; sisters, June (Wes) Wyville, St. Anne, Man., Donna (Ken) Harrison, Selkirk, Man., and Gaylene (Eric) Augustine, Dufresne, Man.; and brothers, Norman (Eleanor) and Russel (Marlene), both of Winnipeg.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda; and a son, Kenneth.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Assumption Catholic Church, Pembina.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Pembina Pioneer United Methodist Church.
Burial: Waverley Memorial Gardens, Winnipeg (Jensen-Askew, Cavalier).
Harriet V. Duckworth
CROOKSTON -- Harriet V. Duckworth, 92, Crookston, died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, in Riverview Nursing Home, Crookston, where she had lived since Oct. 9, 1996.
Harriet Vivian Foss was born Jan. 12, 1907, the daughter of Peter and Carrie (Schustrum) Foss, in Detroit Lakes, Minn. She attended school in Crookston. She married
Leonard Duckworth on Dec. 30, 1922, in Crookston. They traveled after Leonard's retirement in 1967. He died May 13, 1971.
She is survived by sons, Leonard (Arlene), Crookston, and Robert (Doreen), Mesa, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Hong, Crookston, and Lucille Turner, Seattle; and sisters-in-law, Connie Foss, Olympia, Wash., and Leona Foss, St. Helena, Calif.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald; a daughter, Lenore; a grandson; brothers, Ben and Glenn; and a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Duckworth.
Services: 1: 30 p.m. Friday, Wesley United Methodist Church, Crookston.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston.
Maurice M. Maygra
CROOKSTON -- Maurice M. Maygra, 81, Crookston, died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, in Riverview Hospital, Crookston.
Maurice M. Maygra was born March 23, 1918, the son of Gasper and Courina (Brault) Maygra, near Crookston, where he attended school. He worked on the family farm. He joined the U.S. Army on Aug. 3, 1941 and served until Aug. 22, 1945. He married
Lucille Brule on Aug. 7, 1945. They operated a grain and beef and dairy operation on the Maygra farmstead. He retired in 1984. Lucille Maygra died April 7, 1986. He continued to live on the farm.
He is survived by a son, Richard (Pamela), Crookston; a daughter, Charlene (R. Scott) McAllen, Detroit Lakes, Minn.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred (Adeline), Crookston; and a sister, Cecelia (Johnny) Leon, Cloquet, Minn.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Friday, St. Peter's Catholic Church, Gentilly, Minn.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: St. Peter's Cemetery.
Military rites: Crookston Veterans Council (Stenshoel-Houske, Crookston).
Lamarvo F. Howard
PARK RIVER, N.D. -- Lamarvo F. Howard, 87, Park River, formerly of Edinburg, N.D., died Monday, April 26, 1999, in Good Samaritan Center, Park River.
Lamarvo F. Howard was born Jan. 18, 1912, the daughter of Ernest and Gertrude (Lety) Howard, in Edinburg, where she attended school. She worked as a household employee for several families in Edinburg, and later took care of her mother. She moved to Borg Homes, Mountain, N.D., in February 1991 and to the Good Samaritan on April 8, 1992.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Lawrence and Lester "Casey"; and sisters, Lucile Schoonover, Laura Kertz and Bernice Windingland.
Services: 3 p.m. Friday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Edinburg.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Edinburg (Tollefson, Edinburg).
