McMurray Green
CAVALIER, N.D. -- T. Elaine McMurray Green, 91, Cavalier, died Feb. 21, 2000, at home in Corvallis, Ore.
T. Elaine Weeks was born Jan. 20, 1909, the daughter of James and Ellen (Dalzell) Weeks, in Leyden, N.D. She graduated from high school in Walhalla, N.D. She attended Valley City (N.D.) State Teachers College and taught school for three years. She married
Clarence McMurray on June 21, 1930, in Langdon, N.D. They purchased Branchaud Jewelry Store, Cavalier which they owned for 30 years until retiring in 1967. Clarence McMurray died Aug. 24, 1975. She married
Dr. Kenneth Green on Jan. 24, 1987. He died Oct. 23, 1994.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbaranell (Mike) Collier, The Dallas, Ore.; stepdaughters, Carol Olson, Bismarck, and Pat Kramer, in Wisconsin; a stepson, Mark Green, Apple Valley, Minn.; four grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; several stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Weeks; and a brother-in-law, All Ciesar.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth; and sisters, Vernice Cox, Freida Bjornstad, Phyllis Johnston, Ida Ciesar.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, First United Methodist Church, Cavalier.
Visitation: 5 to 7: 30 p.m. Friday, Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier.
Burial: Cavalier Cemetery.
Warren Woolery
CROOKSTON -- Warren Woolery, 91, Crookston, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, in Riverview Nursing Home, Crookston.
Warren Milo Woolery was born Sept. 1, 1908, the son of Albert and Louise (Campbell) Woolery, in Elmore, Minn. He moved with his family to Hazen, N.D., and then to Dunn City, N.D., where he attended school. In the 1920s he was trained in the cattle and butchering business. In 1926 he moved to Montevideo, Minn. He worked for the telephone company as a groundman, lineman and splicer from 1928 to 1941. He married
Beatta Fritz on July 12, 1935, in Killdeer, N.D. They lived in Montevideo before moving to Crookston in 1941. He worked for the phone company in Crookston as a combination man and in February 1944, he became a switchman. In 1953, he was promoted to equipment man. He retired in 1973. He joined the Minnesota Defense Force in 1943. Beatta Woolery died March 18, 1990.
He is survived by a daughter, Betty Thibert, Red Lake Falls, Minn.; sons, Michael (Kelly) Thibert, Enumclaw, Wash., Steven (Jane) Thibert, Red Lake Falls, and Patrick (Heather) Thibert, East Grand Forks; five grandchildren; sisters, Harriet (Everett) Trolander, Minneapolis, Janet Gunter, Clara City, Minn., and Marjorie Ross, Blackduck, Minn.; and brothers, Charles (Norma), Bella Vista, Ark., Donald, Bowie, Md., and Roger, San Francisco.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dwight Thibert; and a brother, Lewis.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Crookston.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston.
Marilyn Mortrud
Marilyn Mortrud, 54, Auburn, Wash., formerly of Grand Forks, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, in Hallmark Manor, Federal Way, Wash.
Marilyn Smith was born Nov. 2, 1945, the daughter of William and Evelyn (Uggerud) Smith, in Grafton, N.D. She graduated from high school in Grand Forks in 1963 and from UND in 1967. She worked for Polk County in Minnesota and Grand Forks County as a social worker. She married
Raymond Mortrud on April 2, 1966. They moved to Auburn in 1968.
She is survived by her husband; her mother, Grand Forks; brothers, William, Staples, Minn., Duane, Minneapolis, and Glen, Reynolds, N.D.; and a sister, Janice Lenhart, Warren, Minn.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. today, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Renton, Wash.
Burial: Tahoma National Cemetery, Maple Valley, Wash. Memorials are suggested to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1024 Monroe St. N.E., Renton WA 98055 (Price-Helton, Auburn).
Robert Haas
BEMIDJI -- Robert S. Haas, 60, Bemidji, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, in St. Anthony's Hospital, Effingham, Ill.
Robert Stanley Haas was born Aug. 19, 1939, the son of William and Jayne (Baker) Haas, in Staten Island, N.Y. He grew up and attended school in Jersey City, N.Y. He worked for Midwest Stables, Dundee, Ill., for 13 years, and later for Family of Fair Farms, where he trained horses. He married
Sharon Ruckoldt on Sept. 18, 1971, in Arlington Heights, Ill. He worked as an over the road truck driver for Dart Trucking for 17 years. In 1978 they moved to Bemidji. He drove truck for Cenex and later for Hackney Carriage.
He is survived by sons, Robert II (Brigitte), Las Vegas, and Matthew (Amy Mathison), Bemidji; daughters, Bridget, Bemidji, and Jennifer (Jason) Lowery, Monterey, Calif.; two grandchildren; brothers, Ernest "Buddy" (Catherine) and Raymond (Faye), both of Mount Airy, N.C.; a sister, Mildred (Curtis) Beers, Boonton, N.J.; and a stepsister, Susan (Ken) VanDerSluis, Edison, N.J.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, William.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji.
Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral home.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Bemidji.
Louis Nadeau
BELCOURT, N.D. -- Louis Nadeau, 72, Belcourt, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000.
Louis Nadeau was born Aug. 6, 1927, the son of Ambrose Nadeau and Flora Vivier, in Belcourt, where he attended school. He joined the U.S. Army on Jan. 7, 1946. He attended aircraft welding school in Chanulet Field, Ill., and received the Army of Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was discharged on Dec. 2, 1947. He lived in Montana and worked in the copper mines. He married
Ida Breland. They lived in Belcourt.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Irene, Marilyn, Karen and Roxanne, all in Montana, and Julie Ann and Peggy, both in Minot; sons, Larry, Ruben and Francis, in Montana, and Charles, in Minnesota; sisters, Agnes Belgarde, Rose Poitra and Mary St. Claire; and brothers, Elmer, Leo and Francis.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Jeanette Gunville and Edna Nadeau; and brothers, John and Albert.
Services: Were held in Keplin Funeral Home Chapel, Rolette, N.D.
Burial: St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt.
Lillian Weaver
LARIMORE, N.D. -- Lillian Weaver, 84, Larimore, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, in Deaconess Health Center, Northwood, N.D.
Lillian Haddow was born June 15, 1915, the daughter of John and Rachel (Lasham) Haddow, in Gilby, N.D. She moved with her family to Johnstown, N.D., where she graduated from high school. She attended a beauty school in Fargo. She married
Duane Weaver on Nov. 22, 1939, in Minto. They lived in the Johnstown area. They moved to Larimore in 1955. She worked for the Larimore Public School as a cook, Grand Forks Air Force Base PX Store and later for Western Potato Co.
She is survived by sons, David (Susan), Bismarck, and Dennis, Fargo; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ada Muir, Johnstown, Margaret (Huger) Carlson, Larimore, and Arabelle (Earl) Halstenson, Niagara, N.D.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Frances, Ethel and Mary; an infant brother; and a daughter-in-law, Sandra Weaver.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Larimore.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a 7 p.m. rosary, Bakke Funeral Home, Larimore, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore.
Irene Matton
MANVEL, N.D. -- Irene Matton, 90, formerly of Manvel, died April 18, 2000, in Oregon City, Ore.
Irene Olsen was the daughter of Charles and Theoline (Quanrud) Olsen, of Manvel, where she grew up. She married
I. Joe Matton on Jan. 29, 1929, in Grand Forks. They lived and worked in Grand Forks for 30 years. They moved to Oregon in 1962. Joe Matton died in 1982.
She is survived by children, Sister Phyllis Matton, in Oregon, and Charles, in Nevada; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Helen Dettloff, San Diego, Alice Roberts, Anderson, Ind., Eloise Kochevar, Grand Forks, Dorothy Tuttle, Oregon City, and Shirley Hoverson, Manvel.
