Olive Christianson
GRAFTON, N.D. -- Olive Christianson, 83, Grafton, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, in the Lutheran Sunset Home, Grafton, where she had lived since August 1996.
Olive Matthiasson was born Nov. 26, 1916, the daughter of Jon and Stephania (Olafson) Matthiasson, in Gardar, N.D., where she graduated from high school. She married
G. August Christianson on Sept. 28, 1938, in Mountain, N.D., where they lived and farmed until 1968. They moved to Grafton. She worked at the Borg Home, Mountain, and Unity Hospital, Grafton. She retired in the mid-1970s. G. August Christianson died April 30, 1992.
She is survived by a son, Gerald (Celen), Parshall, N.D.; daughters, Carol (Arnold) Timian, Bellview, Wash., and Ann (Ken) Jorandby, Menomonie, Wis.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Barney (Hilda), Grafton; and a sister, Allie Holand, Park River, N.D.
She was preceded in death by four sisters; and three brothers.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Grafton Lutheran Church.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Tollefson Funeral Home, Grafton, and one hour before services in the church.

Blanche Gustafson
Blanche I. Gustafson, 98, Grand Forks, died Sunday June 11, 2000, in Valley Memorial Home Eldercare Center.
Blanche Irene Christensen was born on July 27, 1901, the daughter of Chris and Esther (Simpson) Chris-tensen, in St. Edward, Neb. She graduated as a registered nurse from Methodist Episcopal Hospital, Omaha, Neb., on Sept. 24, 1923. She married
Edward Felton on Jan. 1, 1926, in St. Edward. She worked at hospitals in Nebraska, South Dakota and Crookston. She moved to Grand Forks in 1936. She married
Willie Gustafson in May 1945, in Mentor, Minn., He died in 1962.
She is survived by a daughter, Ilene Stamness, Grand Forks; a son, Richard (Evelyn) Felton, Grand Forks; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Margaret Gillett, Sacramento, Calif., Anna Lentzen, Riverside, Ill., Alice Pratt, Omaha, and Mary Jensen, Bellevue, Neb.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Felton; a stepdaughter, Mildred Munson; a stepson, Clifford Gustafson; a sister, Katherine Horton; and a brother, Paul Christensen.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, University Lutheran Church, Grand Forks.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today, Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks. Memorials are suggested to the University Lutheran Church Building Fund.
Kathryn Deemer
CROOKSTON -- Kathryn Deemer, 80, Boise, Idaho, formerly of Crookston, died of Alzheimer's Disease, Wednesday, June 7, 2000, in a Boise care center.
Kathryn Jeanette Wick was born Oct. 5, 1919, the daughter of Morris and Ingrid Wick, in Crookston, where she graduated from high school. She moved to California. She married
Charles Deemer on Feb. 2, 1944, in California. While her husband served in the U.S. Army, they lived in several areas, including Austria and Hawaii. Following his retirement, they lived in Melbourne Beach, Fla. Charles Deemer died in 1995, and she moved to Boise.
She is survived by sons, Terrance (Susan), Eagle, Idaho, Jeffrey, Falls Church, Va., and Joseph "Jed", Melbourne, Fla.; a granddaughter; a brother, Kenneth, Crookston; and sisters, Esther, Sacramento, Calif., and Lorraine, Waite Park, Minn.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred.
Graveside Services: 9 a.m. Friday, Arlington National Cemetery, with a reception to follow. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association, 4696 Overland Road #482, Boise ID 83705. (Summers, Boise).
Joseph Wentz
ESMOND, N.D. -- Joseph P. Wentz, 86, Bismarck, formerly of Esmond, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, in SCCI Hospital, Mandan, N.D.
Joseph P. Wentz was born Dec. 31, 1913, the son of Peter and Philomena (Volk) Wentz, in Esmond, where he attended school and farmed with his parents. He married
Frances Neis on Jan. 25, 1932, in Esmond. They lived and farmed the family homestead in Alexander Township. They moved to Esmond in 1974 and retired from farming in 1975. They moved to Bismarck in 1999.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Eugene (Betty), Des Moines, Wash., Wilbert (Belle), Kent, Wash., Jerome (Elsie), Lynnwood, Wash., and Duane (Eva), Bismarck; daughters, LaRayne (Gerald) Toso, Graham, Wash., Sally (Tony) Volk, Selz, N.D., Helen (Lester) Ehli, Apache Junction, Ariz., Shirley (Allen) Gange, Bismarck, and Patty (Ray) Schneider, Warroad, Minn.; 37 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lucille Wentz, Devils Lake, and Regina Kincheloe, Oklahoma City, Okla.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Antone; and sisters, Barbara Wentz, Anna Marie Heisler, Mary Ehli, Johanna Wentz, Lena Ehli, Pauline Gefroh, Walburga Sander and Katherine Goldade.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, St. Boniface Catholic Church, Esmond.
Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nelson Funeral Home, Esmond, and after 6 p.m., with a 6: 30 p.m. rosary, in the church.
Burial: Church cemetery.
Marcella Belanus
WALHALLA, N.D. -- Marcella "Marcie" Belanus, 75, Walhalla, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, in Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, N.D.
Marcella L. Beauchamp was born Aug. 8, 1924, the daughter of Aristide and Cordelia (Gendreau) Beauchamp, in Olga, N.D. She grew up in Olga and attended school in Olga and Langdon, N.D., and graduated from high school in Walhalla in 1943. She was employed by a Defense Plant, Detroit, Mich., JC Penney Co., and Heneman's V-Store. She married
Barry Belanus on March 28, 1951, in Olga. They lived and farmed near Walhalla. Barry Belanus died Sept. 26, 1992.
She is survived by sons, James (Teresa), Langdon, N.D., and Robert (Jann), Devils Lake; a daughter, Carole (Kerry) DeMars, Grafton, N.D.; nine grandchildren; sisters, Jeannette Lepire, Doris Marcelin, and Lorraine (Orlo) Mostad, all of Cavalier, N.D.; and brothers, Hector (Charlotte), Grand Forks, Harvey (Marjorie), Osnabrock, N.D., Remi (Betty), Minto, N.D., Eugene (Ruth), Simpsonville, S.C., and Rolland (Lorraine), Walhalla.
She was preceded in death by a son, Paul; and brothers, Omar and Richard.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla.

Ann Washburn
HOPE, N.D. -- Ann Washburn, 81, Hope, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Ann Silseth was born Dec. 7, 1918, the daughter of Albert and Gerda (Walswick) Silseth, in Westfield Township, Steele County, N.D. She moved with her family to Hope, N.D. She married
Camer Washburn on Dec. 29, 1940, in Hope, where they lived and farmed. He died Feb. 13, 2000.
She is survived by daughters, Letitia (Gene) Mortenson, Tulsa, Okla., and Sheryl (Jerry) Mergel, Federal Way, Wash.; a son, David (Gail), Hope; sisters, Glenora Martinez, Bathell, Wash., Eleanor Bakke, Valley City, N.D., and Frances (Ed) Hinson, Shoreline, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, United Church of Hope.
Visitation: 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Hope Cemetery

Ruby Olson
MADDOCK, N.D. -- Ruby E. Olson, 76, Maddock, formerly of Devils Lake, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, in Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.
Ruby E. Jacobson was born Nov. 25, 1923, the daughter of Jacob and Julia (Nottestad) Jacobson, in Harlow, N.D. She attended school in Harlow and Maddock. She attended Dakota Business College in Fargo. She was employed by John Deere and by the A.S.C. Office in Devils Lake. She married
Arnold Olson on Jan. 22, 1968, in Devils Lake. They lived in Lakota, N.D. Arnold Olson died in September 1979. She moved to Devils Lake, Minnewaukan, and Maddock, N.D.
She is survived by a brother, Julian, Maddock; and sisters, Lillian Moran and Doris Lysne, both of Maddock.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Orville, Victor and an infant.
Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and 9 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home.
Burial: Hoff Cemetery, Brocket, N.D.
