Carol Hennager
Carol Hennager, 57, Stevens-¨ville, Mich., formerly of Grand Forks, died Thursday, June 21, 2000, in Northwestern Medical Hospital, Chicago, Ill.
Carol Lynn Hagen was born Feb. 27, 1943, the daughter of Ole and Tharetha (Boyd) Hagen, in Grand Forks, where she attended school. She married
George Hennager on Oct. 31, 1960, in Grand Forks. He died Oct. 21, 1993. She moved in 1993 to Stevensville, where she worked for the Elder Bermen Department Store.
She is survived by a son, George (Ellen Dickson), South Bend, Ind.; daughters, Annette (Jim) Garrison, Stevensville, Lori (Darrell) Smith, South Bend, and Cindy Peters, Grand Forks; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Janice (Lauren) Simonson, Elaine (Dave) Soul, both of South Sioux City, Iowa, and Grace Hagen, San Diego.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald; a daughter, Georgine; a grandson; her parents; a brother, Calvin "Corky"; and sisters, Rita, Opha, Maxine, and Judy.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday, Norman Funeral Home, Columbia Road.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and one hour before services all in Norman Funeral Home.
Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks.
Claire Vincent
BEMIDJI -- Claire C. Vincent, 98, Bemidji, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, in Havenwood Care Center, Bemidji.
Claire Carlton Vincent was born May 15, 1902, the son of Clark and Blanche (Arnold) Vincent, in Hubbard, Minn. He grew up and attended school in Bemidji. He married
Elizabeth Nelson on Nov. 9, 1930, in Bemidji. They lived in Bemidji, where he farmed. He did custodian work at Northern School for 12 years, retiring in 1968. They spent winters in Truth or Consequences, N.M.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Claire "Red" (Ilene), Guthrie, Minn., and Robert, Bemidji; daughters, Blanche (Royce) Weinert and Donna (Bill) Jackson, both of Bemidji; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and brothers, Floyd, Port Angeles, Wash., and Lloyd (Avis), Bemidji.
He was preceded in death by a grandson; a great-grandson; sisters, June and an infant; and brothers, David and Foster.
Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Northern Bible Church, Bemidji.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji.
Robert Smith
BEMIDJI -- Robert Smith, 82, Bemidji, died Tuesday, June 20, 2000, in North Country Regional Hospital, Bemidji.
Robert Howard Smith was born Dec. 4, 1917, the son of R. Howard and Elizabeth (Heath) Smith, in Kanopolis, Kan., where he attended school. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was stationed in Custer, S.D., and Salmon, Idaho. In 1940, he moved to Chicago, where he worked. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He married
Virginia Zelez on March 2, 1942, in Chicago. She died Dec. 5, 1971. In 1947, he began working for the Chicago Transit Authority, where he worked for 33 years as a heavy-duty mechanic. He married
LaVerne Alexander in April 1973, in Chicago. He retired in January 1980, and they moved to Bemidji.
He is survived by his wife; children, Alan, Rodney, Rebecca (Gary) Steves, Barbara (Bruce) Hoffman and Linda (Frank) Muchlnickel, all of the Chicago area, and Bradley (Barbara), New London, Minn.; 12 grandchildrenand seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Todd; and a brother, Howard.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, St. Philip's Catholic Church, Bemidji.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with a 7 p.m. rosary, Cease Family Funeral Home, Bemidji, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery, Bemidji.
Military rites: VFW Post No. 1260. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
Arnold Kelley
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Arnold Kelley, 80, Thief River Falls, died Monday, June 19, 2000, in Dakota Heartland Hospital, Fargo.
Arnold Kalmer Kelley was born Sept. 2, 1919, the son of Carl and Lillie (Carlson) Kelley, in Dahlen, N.D., where he attended country school. He graduated from high school in Grand Forks in 1937. He worked for Johnson's Store in Fordville, N.D. He married
Leola Amundson on Dec. 19, 1941, in Thief River Falls. He served in the U.S. Army from December 1941 to September 1945. They moved to Grand Forks, where he worked for Orchard Oil. In 1947, they returned to Thief River Falls, where he worked for Northern Motors on the grease rack. He became sales manager in 1951 and retired in 1985. Leola Kelley died in 1992.
He is survived by daughters, Karen (Don) Steahl, Hopkins, Minn., and Darlene Kelley, Thief River Falls; sons, Richard (Gail), Rockville, Md., Mark (Tricia), Thief River Falls, and Hal (Jan), Highlands Ranch, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; sisters, LaVerne (Al) Cinelli, Avis Schuler, Yvonne (Albert) Krueger, Betty (Allen) Ruzicka; a brother, Maynard (Alma); and a sister-in-law, Elaine Kelley.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Corrine, Delores, Edith, Lorraine and Doris; and a brother, Carl.
Services: 11 a.m. today, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church (Green, Thief River Falls).
Dorothy Morrissette
Dorothy A. Morrissette, 73, Alexandria, Minn., formerly of East Grand Forks, died Friday, July 7, 2000, at home.
Dorothy A. Jonas was born May 4, 1927, the daughter of Joseph and Olivia (Geris) Jonas, in St. Martin, Minn., where she attended school. She married
Eugene Morrissette on July 28, 1953, in St. Martin. They lived in East Grand Forks. She was employed by Old Dutch Potato Company and the Human Nutrition Lab at UND.
She is survived by her husband, Alexandria; a son, Mark (Michelle), Alexandria; daughters, Mary Pat, Thief River Falls, and Debbie (Jeff) Huber, Alexandria; four grandchildren; brothers, Clarence (Lou), Leander (Laura), Leo (Rosie), LeRoy (Barb), and Ronald (Rosie); and sisters, Bernadine (Don) Carlson, Marcella (Allen) Yozamp, and Marie Terrace.
Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, East Grand Forks.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stennes Funeral Home, East Grand Forks.
Burial: Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks.
Myrtle Stahl
TOLNA, N.D. -- Myrtle L. Stahl, 88, Boise, Idaho, formerly of Tolna, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at home.
Myrtle Clauson was born Aug. 20, 1911, the daughter of Christ and Gurine Clauson, in Aneta, N.D. She married
William Stahl on Sept. 12, 1934. They farmed south of Pekin, N.D. She moved to Boise after her husband's death.
She is survived by a son, Merlin (Gale), Hazen, N.D.; a daughter, Dorothy Rebholtz, Boise; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys and Florence; and a brother, Leo.
She was preceded in death by sons, William Jr. and Jerome; and a sister, Lillian.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Monday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Tolna.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Ottofe Cemetery, Pekin. Memorial are suggested to Nelson County Health System-Hospital, McVille, N.D. (Stanley-Iverson, McVille).
