Owen Wiltse
BEMIDJI -- Owen Wiltse, 42, Bemidji, died Monday, July 10, 2000, in North Country Regional Hospital, Bemidji.
Owen Jay Wiltse was born Oct. 30, 1957, the son of Neil and Phyllis (Holm) Wiltse, in Bagley, Minn. He grew up and attended school in Bemidji, graduating in 1976. He attended college at the Vo-tech for a year. He worked at several jobs. He was blackjack dealer in Cass Lake and Walker, Minn. He worked for M.D.E., in Bemidji.
He is survived by his father; and sisters, Gail (Dave) Vodjansky, Denver, Judi (Mike) Bertek, Prior Lake, Minn., and Nila (Larry) Geist, Bemidji.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents.
Memorial Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Cease Family Funeral Home, Bemidji.
Burial: Norway Lake Cemetery, Leonard, Minn.
Stella Reierson
GARDNER, N.D. -- Stella Reierson, 91, Gardner, died Sunday, July 9, 2000, at home.
Stella Louise Swenson was born May 24, 1909, the daughter of Nels and Carrie (Bergh) Swenson, in Cass County, N.D. She attended school near Gardner and Fargo. She married
Joseph Reierson on Nov. 25, 1928, in Perley, Minn. He died April 28, 1986.
She is survived by sons, Don (Adele), and Barton (Kathy), both of Gardner, and Bruce (Linda), Salem, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lillie Melbostad, Gardner, and Florence Delores (Angelo) Cannizzaro, San Leandro, Calif.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Oliver, John, and Clarence; and sisters, Minnie Hegman and Frances Maring.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Nora Lutheran Church, Gardner.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service in the church.
Burial: Nora Lutheran Cemetery
(Fredrikson, Ada, Minn.).
Steven Ruud
GRAFTON, N.D. -- Steven Ruud, 49, Pocatello, Idaho, formerly of Grafton, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, in Pocatello.
Steven Ruud was born July 28, 1950, the son of Wallace and Lorraine Ruud. He served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his parents, Grafton; and sisters, Sherry Haveman, Grand Forks, and Margo (Tim) Midgarden, Grafton.

LeRoy Zarling
BEMIDJI -- S. LeRoy "Zully" Zarling, 80, Bemidji, died Monday, July 10, 2000, in North Country Regional Hospital, Bemidji.
S. LeRoy Zarling was born May 25, 1920, the son of Otto and Augusta (Schulze) Zarling, in Underwood, Minn. They moved in 1927 to Solway, Minn., where he attended school. He graduated from high school in Bemidji in 1939. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and worked with the Forestry Department in Cass Lake, Minn. He joined the U.S. Army in January 1942. He received five Bronze Stars and a Silver Star. He married
Agnes Gladen on July 1, 1950, in Bemidji. He was employed by the Minnesota Job Service as a veterans employment representative for 32 years, retiring in 1978.
He is survived by his wife, Bemidji; sons, Gary (Carolyn), Blaine, Minn., and Douglas (JoAnne), Bemidji; daughters, Julie Zarling, Anchorage, Ala., and Nancy (James) Kohl, Lino Lakes, Minn.; eight grandsons; and a brother, Cecil, Fertile, Minn.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Herbert and Vernon.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Tuesday, First Lutheran Church, Bemidji.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji.
Dr. Dale Foley
Dr. Dale Foley, 87, 1503 South 18th St., died Friday, July 14, 2000, in 4000 Valley Square, Grand Forks.
Dale Foley was born Jan. 16, 1913, the son of Christopher and Mary (Hiles) Foley, in Morrow, Ohio, where he graduated from high school. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1939 to 1946. He graduated from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, Mo., and from the University of Missouri school of Dentistry, Kansas City, Mo. He practiced dentistry in Hillsboro and Phillipsburg, Kan., and in Grand Forks in 1967. He retired in 1990. He married
Katherine Dalke on Dec. 23, 1955 in Hillsboro, Kan. She died Jan. 23, 1999.
He is survived by a son, David, Calgary, Alta.; a daughter, Katherine Hurley, Topeka, Kan.; a grandson; and a sister, Mary Frances Foley, Cincinnati.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Faith Evangelical Free Church.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Amundson Funeral Home, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Herald Church Cemetery, Morden, Man..

Ivan Schlenk
McVILLE, N.D. -- Ivan "Chief" Schlenk, 83, McVille, died Thursday, July 13, 2000, in Nelson County Health System-Hospital, McVille.
Ivan Schlenk was born Oct. 19, 1916, the son of Chris and Anne (Kofka) Schlenk, in Park River, N.D., where he attended school. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married
Marie Odde on Feb. 15, 1950, in Devils Lake. They lived in McVille. He was employed by Anderson Grocery Store as a meat cutter. They operated the Hotel Cafe. He was the custodian for the McVille School from 1960 until his retirement in 1989.
He is survived by his wife, McVille; a daughter, Marcia (Graeme) Wilson, Hatton, N.D.; sons, John (Cindy), Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Roger (Angie), Sherburn, Minn.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes; and brothers, Harold, George and Bill.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Monday, New Luther Valley Lutheran Church, McVille.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. today, Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home, McVille, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: McVille Cemetery.

Claire Johnson
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Claire Johnson, 86, Thief River Falls, died Thursday, July 13, 2000, in Northwest Medical Center Convalescent Nursing Care Unit, Thief River Falls.
Claire Mary Guth was born April 6, 1914, the daughter of Louis and Katherine (Kinsella) Guth, in Staples, Minn., where she graduated from high school. She attended beauty school in the Twin Cities. She worked as a manager for Benson's Beauty Shop in Thief River Falls. She married
Gordon Johnson on Feb. 12, 1939. She worked for Pacific Car and Foundry as a lathe operator during World War II. They went to Kodiak, Alaska, and returned to Thief River Falls. They owned and operated the Soo Cafe. In 1950, they started the Western Auto Store and purchased the Sportsman's Store. They bought Hub Clothing. They moved to Duluth and returned after they retired.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Robert, Blaine, Minn.; a grandson; and sisters, Marilyn Johnson, St. Paul, and Muriel Hagen, San Diego.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Collette Guth; and brothers, Robert and Jerry.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Thief River Falls.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a 6 p.m. prayer service, Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls.
Burial: St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery.
