Stephen Merrick
DEVILS LAKE -- Stephen Merrick, 83, Devils Lake, formerly of St. Michael, N.D., died Saturday, July 22, 2000, in Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.
Stephen Merrick was born April 26, 1917, the son of Joseph and Agnes (Coming Cloud) Merrick Sr., in Warwick, N.D. He grew up in Warwick and St. Michael. He worked for local farmers. He married
Louise Darrigan in 1941. She died in 1953. He lived in Fort Totten, N.D.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Christine, Katherine, and Julia; a brother, Joseph Jr.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, St. Michael's Catholic Church.
Visitation: 5 to 10 p.m. today, with an 8 p.m. rosary service, and one hour before services all in the church.
Burial: St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery
(Gilbertson, Devils Lake).
Kevin Kiley
Kevin J. Kiley, 49, 101 Chestnut St., Grand Forks, died Saturday, July 22, 2000, in Altru Hospital.
Kevin John Kiley was born Oct. 18, 1950, the son of Everett and Donna (Norton) Kiley, in Grand Forks. He lived in Grafton, N.D., where he attended school. He moved to Grand Forks in 1989 and was involved with Listen Day Services and Agassiz Workshop.
He is survived by his mother, Donna Jensen, Grafton; his father, Everett, Grand Forks; sisters, Margaret Kiley, Marietta, Ga., and Mary Kiley, Grafton; and brothers, Patrick, Minneapolis, Michael, Port Orchard, Wash., and Timothy, Pueblo, Colo.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday, Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel, S. Washington St.
Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral chapel.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks.
George Domier
PORTLAND, N.D. -- George S. Domier, 86, Portland, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, in MeritCare Center, Fargo.
George S. Domier was born Oct. 25, 1913, the son of Oscar and Inga (Pladson) Domier, near Portland, where he attended school. He worked for area farmers until he began farming with his brothers in Steele County, N.D. He married
Marian Sletten on Oct. 18, 1937, in Hillsboro, N.D. They farmed near Portland. In 1939, they bought a farmstead and built a new house in 1950.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Levone (Sharon), Portland; daughters, Gloria (Paul) Viken, and Sandra (Jim) Olson, both of Wahpeton, N.D., and Janice Love, Fargo; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, LeRoy (Myrtle), Portland, and Norman (Ella Mae), Hatton, N.D.; and sisters, Inez Brend and Gladys Nelson, both of Fargo.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Selmer, Alvin, and Willie; and sisters, Selma Warren, Esther Kjensrud, and Delores Wisk.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Mayville, N.D.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Mayville Cemetery.
Orlin Hovet
Orlin H. Hovet, 81, Williamsport, Pa., formerly of Grand Forks and Buxton, N.D., died July 21, 2000.
Orlin H. Hovet was born Nov. 26, 1918, the son of Jacob and Laura (Eken) Hovet, in Buxton. He married
Minnie Kaiser in 1941. They lived in Grand Forks, where he was a police officer. They moved to San Jose, Calif., where he owned and operated an electronics store. They moved to Medford, Ore., before moving to Williamsport.
He is survived by a daughter, Claudia Kellog, Williamsport; a brother, Richard, Iowa City, Iowa; and sisters, LaVerne Murch, Hillsboro, N.D., Margaret Rohman, Fargo, and Ruby Latvala, Central Point, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Ione Hanson
MAYVILLE, N.D. -- Ione C. Hanson, 82, Mayville, died Monday, July 31, 2000, at home.
Ione C. Matter was born March 31, 1918, the daughter of Matthew and Julia (Sullivan) Matter, in Crystal, N.D. She attended school in Crystal and Devils Lake. She attended Mayville State University and UND. She married
T.A. Hanson on May 29, 1940, in Crystal. She taught school in Kenewick, Wash. They moved to Cooperstown, N.D., where she taught school. They later moved to Mayville, where she taught until she retired.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Donald (Terri), Belgrade, Mont., and Robert, Washington; five grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Donna), Devils Lake; and a sister, Lois Reicert, San Diego.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Mayville.
Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Mayville Cemetery.
D. Voglewede
CARRINGTON, N.D. -- Damian J. Voglewede, 23, Carrington, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at home.
Damian Joseph Voglewede was born May 27, 1977, the son of Michael and Lynnette (Helton) Voglewede, in Carrington. He attended school in Mandan and Northwood, N.D. He graduate from high school in Las Vegas in 1995. He moved back to Carrington in 1999 and worked for Dakota Growers Pasta Plant.
He is survived by his mother, Lynnette Bandelin, Carrington; his father, Northwood, N.D.; brothers, Terry and Carson Messmer, both of Bismarck; sisters, Patricia Bandelin, Carrington, Jessica Voglewede, and Jenna and Taylor Hanson, all of Northwood; and his grandparents, Leon and Grace Helton, Sykeston, N.D., and Rosemary Voglewede, Carrington.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dr. William Voglewede; great-grandmother, Viola Helton.

Stella Olson
NORTHWOOD, N.D. -- Stella Olson, 84, Northwood, died Monday, July 31, 2000, in Deaconess Health Center, Northwood, where she had lived since 1997.
Stella Nelson was born May 30, 1916, the daughter of Gust and Anna (Grindeland) Nelson, in Hatton, N.D., where she attended school. She married
Alvin Olson on Nov. 20, 1937, in Hatton. They lived in Northwood.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Robert, (Debi), Fargo; daughters, Arlene Krebsbach and Vickie (Gene) Krueger, both of Fargo, and Renee Bjerke, Aneta, N.D.; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wilma Grindeland, Great Falls, Mont.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Art, Norman, and Ernest; and sisters, Irene and an infant Irene.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Thursday, Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Northwood.
