Earl Engelstad
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Earl Engelstad, 83, St. Cloud, Minn., formerly of Thief River Falls, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, in St. Benedict's Senior Community, St. Cloud.
Earl Paul Engelstad was born Feb. 9, 1917 the son of Paul and Ollie (Larness) Engelstad, in Thief River Falls.
He is survived by children, Steven, Hemet, Calif., David, Huntington Beach, Calif., Earline Goodard, Winchester, Calif., Janice Frost, Murietta, Calif., and Judy Corbett and Nancy Engelstad, both of Nuevo, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brothers and sister, James and Arnie, both of Thief River Falls, Peter, Otis, Ore., and Blanche Carlson, St. Cloud.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Millie; his second wife, Dolly; a daughter, Ginger; a grandson; and a brother, Morris.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Monday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls. Memorials are suggested to St. Benedict's Senior Community (Benson, St. Cloud).
Glendowyn Langei
Glendowyn "Gwen, " "Glennie" Langei, 74, East Grand Forks, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000.
Glendowyn Vigen was born Dec. 10, 1925, the daughter of Arne and Amelia (Torgerson) Vigen, in Bygland, Minn., where she attended school. She married
Chester Langei on Aug. 10, 1946 in Crookston. They lived in East Grand Forks, where she provided home daycare.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Susan (Wayne) Ostlund, East Grand Forks; sons, Wayne "Butch" (Kathy), Bellingham, Wash., Tim, Lake Bronson, Minn., and Kip (Chris), East Grand Forks; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Aldene Hegge, East Grand Forks; and a brother, Truman, East Grand Forks.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Family of God Lutheran Church, East Grand Forks.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Bygland Lutheran Cemetery, rural East Grand Forks.
Orville Thureen
Orville Thureen, 76, rural East Grand Forks, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at home.
Orville Thureen was born April 28, 1924, the son of Oscar and Clara (Flatten) Thureen, in rural East Grand Forks. He attended school in Crookston. He served in the U.S. Army. He farmed in East Grand Forks. He married
Betty Hanson on March 30, 1985.
He is survived by his wife; stepdaughters, Nancy (Jon) Mankie and Sandra (Earl) Bartlette, both of East Grand Forks; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and brothers, Allen (Alice) and Gordon (Faythe), both of East Grand Forks.
He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Arlene White; and a sister, Clarice Widseth.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Bethany Lutheran Church, East Grand Forks.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stennes Funeral Home, East Grand Forks, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: North Bethany Cemetery.
Mathilda Weber
MUNICH, N.D. -- Mathilda A. Weber, 82, New Hope, Minn, formerly of Munich, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, in St. Therese Nursing Home, New Hope.
Mathilda Agnes Michels was born on August 19, 1918, the daughter of Hubert and Katherine (Athmann) Michels, in Munich, where she graduated from high school. She worked in the cook car for the Michels Threshing Company. She worked as a nanny for several families in the Munich area. She married
Theodore Weber on Nov. 3, 1943, in Munich. They lived and farmed near St. Leo, Minn. from 1943 to 1976. Theodore Weber died in 1976. In 1980, she moved to St. Leo.
She is survived by children, Joan (Thomas) St. Martin, and Carol (Richard) Vonderharr, both of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Don (Barbara) Weber, Shakopee, Minn., Sharon (Douglas) Stoks, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Marlys (Keith) Boeve, Maple Grove, Minn.; 18 grandchildren; brothers, Alphonse, Roman, Art, and Walter; and sisters, Annie Schommer, Eleanor Schuler, and ReginaHoffmann.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald; brothers, Norbert and Edwin; and sisters, Lena and Veronica Schuler.
Services: Were held in St. Leo, Minn.
Burial: St. Leo Church Cemetery.
Ted Lunski
Ted Lunski, 76, 2015 9th Ave. N., died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Theodore Lunski was born Aug. 16, 1924, the son of Joseph and Matilda (Pokrzywinski) Lunski, in Ardoch, N.D., where he attended school. He married
Florianna Lizakowski on June 26, 1945, in Warsaw, N.D. They farmed in Ardoch. They moved to Grand Forks in 1949, where he worked for Great Northern Railway and farmed. He retired from the railroad in 1975, but continued to farm.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Darlene and Mavis (Charles) Fayette, both of Grand Forks; sons, James (Sharon) and Darius (Sharon), both of Grand Forks, and Jay (Deborah), Ardoch; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo (Delores), Fargo; and sisters, Frances (Joseph) Mozinski, Effie Bina, Irene Bruski, Helen (Florian) Storbakken, Marion (Stanley) Byzewski, and Theresa (Paul) Wolfgram, all of Grand Forks.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ardell; a granddaughter; and a sister, Nettie Marynik.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Thursday, St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Norman Funeral Home, Columbia Road.

Johnny Rudnik
MINTO, N.D. -- Johnny Rudnik, 79, Minto, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at home.
Johnny Rudnik was born June 11, 1921, the son of John and Pelogia (Pokrzy-¨winski) Rudnik, near Minto. He attended school in Warsaw and helped on the family farm. He married
Martha Czapiewski on Oct. 12, 1942, in Minto. They lived and farmed in Minto until retiring in 1999.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Henry, Minto; a daughter, Mary (Lyle) Mondry, Minto; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Raymond; brothers, Joe, Steve and Roman; sisters, Josephine Jagielski and Isabel Martin; and a stepsister, Emily Czapiewski.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Warsaw.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and 8 to 9: 30 a.m. Saturday, all in Henriksen-Kamrowski Funeral Home, Grafton, N.D.
Burial: Church cemetery.
Orlin Hovet
Orlin H. Hovet, 81, Williamsport, Pa., formerly of Grand Forks and Buxton, N.D., died July 21, 2000.
Orlin H. Hovet was born Nov. 26, 1918, the son of Jacob and Laura (Eken) Hovet, in Buxton. He married
Minnie Kaiser in 1941. They lived in Grand Forks, where he was a police officer. They moved to San Jose, Calif., where he owned and operated an electronics store. They moved to Medford, Ore., before moving to Williamsport.
He is survived by a daughter, Claudia Kellog, Williamsport; a brother, Richard, Iowa City, Iowa; and sisters, LaVerne Murch, Hillsboro, N.D., Margaret Rohman, Fargo, and Ruby Latvala, Central Point, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
