Arthur Gunhus
Arthur B. Gunhus, 78, Grand Forks, formerly of Fairdale and Park River, N.D., died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, in a Rapid City, S.D., hospital.
Arthur B. Gunhus was born March 1, 1922, the son of George and Hilda (Rustan) Gunhus, in Fairdale. He married
Ruby Olson on Dec. 26, 1947, in Park River. They farmed near Fairdale until 1976, when they moved to Park River. He worked for ASCS and Federal Crop Insurance.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Lynda (Vern) Hammer, West Fargo, Karen (Richard) Axvig, Grand Forks, and Ruth Ann (Monte) Monteleone, Denver; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Wallace (Edna), Grafton; and a sister, Beatrice Roberts, Fargo.
He was preceded in death by a son, George; and a brother, Ernest.
Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Park River.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Park River.
Betty Sola
COOPERSTOWN, N.D. -- Betty Sola, 76, Fargo, formerly of Cooperstown, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, in Dakota Heartland Hospital, Fargo.
Betty Jane Tweed was born July 1, 1924, the daughter of Oscar and Helga (Johnson) Tweed, in Binford, N.D., where she graduated from high school. She received her teaching certificate from Valley City (N.D.) Teachers College. She taught in the Finley and Steele County, N.D. area. She married
Arnold Sola on July 1, 1945, in Binford. They farmed near Cooperstown. She worked for Farmers Home Administrators, Maxine's Dress Shop and for Dr. A. D. Neumiller, all in Cooperstown. Arnold Sola died Jan. 10, 1988. She moved to Fargo in July 2000.
She is survived by a son, David (Peggy), West Fargo; a daughter, Janine (Al) Eggert, Valley City; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Orville.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown.
Visitation: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, with a 2 p.m. prayer service, Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City; and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown; and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Ness Cemetery, Cooperstown.
Betty Nelson
EMERADO, N.D. -- Betty L. Nelson, 69, Emerado, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at home.
Betty Lou Delvo was born Aug. 31, 1931, the daughter of Louis and Lucille (Spornetz) Delvo, in Osnabrock, N.D. She graduated from high school in Park River, N.D. She graduated from Aakers Business College, Grand Forks. She married
Richard Nelson on April 9, 1950, in Park River. They lived in Emerado. She worked for Miller's Grocery Store and later for Emerado-Arvilla Lions Gaming until retiring in 1996.
She is survived by her husband; daughters, Cindy (Mike) Nolan, Emerado, Holly Nelson, Prescott, Ariz., and Kelly (Jim) Wulf, Pequot Lakes, Minn.; a son, Tony (Heather), Emerado; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Helen Tobacco, Seabeck, Wash., and Margie Aukland, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and a sister.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks.
Visitation: 5: 30 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a 7: 30 p.m. prayer service, and one hour before services in the funeral home.
Burial: Emerado Cemetery.
Bonita Fontaine
Bonita Fontaine, 60, Roseville, Minn., formerly of Grand Forks, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000.
Bonita Kathryn Fontaine was born and raised in Grand Forks.
She is survived by a daughter, Tamara (Gary) Busch; a brother, Richard (Jo); and former husband, Ralph DeVito.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Thorene; and her father, Linus.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Roseville Memorial Chapel, 2245 N. Hamline Ave., Roseville, with gathering of friends and family one half hour before the service.
Esther Martin
CANDO, N.D. -- Esther Martin, 95, Cando, formerly of Rock Lake, N.D., died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, in Towner County Living Center, Cando, where she had lived since May 1995.
Esther Hilja Lydia Anderson was born Dec. 11, 1904, the daughter of Oscar and Anna (Hendrickson) Anderson, in Rock Lake. Her father died when she was 2 years old, and she spent some of her youth living with her grandparents in Hamlin County, S.D. She married
Charles Martin on Dec. 27, 1922, in Cartwright, Man. They farmed in the Armourdale and Hansboro, N.D., area until moving to their family farm near Rock Lake. They moved into Rock Lake in 1946 and retired from farming in 1958. Charles Martin died Oct. 11, 1967. In June 1990, she moved to Cando.
She is survived by sons, Milton (Theresa) and Marvin, both of Rock Lake, Eugene (Beverly), Kent, Wash., and Dennis (Carol), Hawley, Minn.; daughters, Laila (Harold) Swenson, Dickinson, N.D., Leila (Gordon) Peterson, Rock Lake, Pearl (Glenn) Willman, Bismarck, and Celia (Oscar) Johnsrud, Watford City, N.D.; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Wilfred (Stella) Martin, Huntington Beach, Calif.; and a sister, Ellen (Henry) Koponen, Palmer, Mich.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Verner; and sisters, Cecelia Martin, Helen Anderson and Hilma Juntunen.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, All Nations Lutheran Church, Rock Lake.
Visitation: Noon to 8 p.m. today, Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home, Cando, and one hour before services in the church.

Cecilie Boyum
Cecilie J. Boyum, 84, Fargo, formerly of Grand Forks, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Cecilie Jane Henry was born June 12, 1916, the daughter of Alfred and Claudine (Chenery) Henry, in Jamestown, N.D., where she graduated from high school in 1934. She attended the AC in Fargo and transferred to UND, where she graduated with a bachelor of science in home economics in 1940. She married
Arne Boyum on June 5, 1942. They lived in Devils Lake, Harlem, Mont., Harvey, Carrington, N.D. and Bismarck. Arne Boyum died March 23, 1998. She moved to Fargo in February 1999. She reported Foster County news on KDAK radio in Carrington for several years.
She is survived by sons, Arne (Janie), Rolla, N.D., and Kelley (Pat), Fargo; a daughter, Katharine (Kurt) Kuester, Plainfield, Ill; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Riverview Place, Fargo. Memorials are suggested to the Bismarck Public Library in her name.
Stanley Gulstad
GLENFIELD, N.D. -- Stanley L. Gulstad, 84, Glenfield, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, in Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, N.D., where he had lived since October 2000.
Stanley L. Gulstad was born Oct. 21, 1916, the son of Adolph and Irene (Johannsen) Gulstad, in Glenfield, where he attended school. He farmed on the family farm. He married
Violet Bredahl on Oct. 12, 1955, in Kensal, N.D.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Gary, Ron and Craig, all of Glenfield, and Rick (Terri), Minneapolis; a daughter, Karen (Steve) Busek, Bismarck, N.D.; and six grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Glenfield Lutheran Church.
Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 8: 30 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, all in Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, N.D.
