Petrina Gestson
MOUNTAIN, N.D. -- Petrina G. Gestson, 101, Mountain, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, Borg Memorial Home, Mountain.
Petrina G. Johnson was born Feb. 10, 1899, the daughter of Sigurdur and Margaret (Thorfinnson) Johnson, in Mountain, where she grew up. She graduated from high school in Cavalier in 1919. She taught school at Eyford and other area schools. She married
Rosman Gestson on Sept. 23, 1922. They lived and farmed in the Mountain area. Rosman Gestson died Dec. 13, 1951. She worked at the Borg Home, Mountain as a cook for 30 years. She was a charter member of the Pioneer Daughters, Degree of Honor and the Eyford Ladies Aid.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Readel, Mountain; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Craig; and a son, Harold.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Vikur Lutheran Church, Mountain.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m., today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Mountain Cemetery.
Gary Harveland
DEVILS LAKE -- Gary L. Harveland, 55, Devils Lake, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, in the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.
Gary Laverne Harveland was born Oct. 24, 1945, the son of John and Ella (Pederson) Harveland, in Devils Lake. He grew up in Hampden, N.D., In 1962, he moved to Devils Lake, where he graduated from high school in 1963. He served in the U.S. Army from June 27, 1963 to June 15, 1966. He joined the U.S. Army Reserve and was discharged May 31, 1969. He married
JoAnn Blazer on July 9, 1966, in Devils Lake. They lived in Washington, D.C., where he worked for the American Hospital Supply Company. They returned to Devils Lake. He worked for Lake Chevrolet, Klemetsruds and then sold insurance for New York Life Insurance Company for 20 years until he retired.
He is survived by his wife; sons, James, Robert (Jennifer), both of Rochester, Minn., and Daniel (MariLou), Fargo; a daughter, Kimberly (Kurt) Johnson, Horace, N.D.; six grandchildren; and a brother, Archie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Arnold.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, First United Methodist Church, Devils Lake.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 9 to 11 am. Saturday, both in Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Devils Lake Cemetery.

Irene Kirchoffner
DEVILS LAKE -- Irene E. Kirchoffner, 86, St. Paul, formerly of Devils Lake, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, in Regions Hospital, St. Paul.
Irene Estelle Regan was born April 28, 1914, the daughter of John and Jennie (Johnson) Regan, in Tokio, N.D. She grew up in Webster, N.D. She attended school in Devils Lake. After her mother's death in 1929, she helped raise her six siblings. She married
Nick Kirchoffner on June 6, 1935, in Webster. They lived in Devils Lake, where they owned and operated the Quaint Upholstery Shop for 35 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia, St. Paul; sons, Dan (Diane), White Bear Lake, Minn., and Mark (Vickey Sweeny-Kirchoffner), Fargo; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Regan, St. Paul, and Dorothy Regan Brown, Washington, Va.; and a brother, Daniel, Anchorage, Alaska.
She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, William and James; and a sister, Ethel Barnett.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. rosary and scripture service, 9 a.m. to noon Friday, in Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: St. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Webster. Memorials will be sent to Father Jack Davis, Chimboti, Peru, in memory of Nick and Irene Kirchoffner.
Olga Landon
CARRINGTON, N.D. -- Olga Landon, 87, Carrington, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at home.
Olga Marie Gussiaas was born Sept. 6, 1913, the daughter of Andrew and Thea (Edwardson) Gussiaas, in Nordmore Township, Foster County, N.D., where she attended school. She lived with families in the area and helped with housework and raising their children. She married
Merritt Landon on June 7, 1947, in Fargo. They farmed near Carrington. Merritt Landon died Dec. 13, 1995.
She is survived by brothers, Henry (Phyllis), Carrington, and LuVerne (Beatrice), New Rockford, N.D.; and sisters, Thelma Landon, Norma Gussiaas and Judy (Irwin) Swanson, all of Carrington, and Mabel (Daris) Bittner, Cathay, N.D.
She was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Thursday, Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.
Visitation: 10 a.m. to 8: 30 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Burial: Carrington Cemetery.
Marjorie Willey
Marjorie A. "Marcy" Willey, 80, Grand Forks, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Marjorie Aileen Schroeder was born April 19, 1920, the son of Henry and Ella (Miller) Schroeder, in Fargo. She graduated from high school in Moorhead. She attended Dakota Business College and Burroughs Office Machines, Fargo. She worked for Loomis Hardware, Fargo, and Gambe-Skogmo, Inc. of Moorhead. She married
Kenneth Willey on Oct. 17, 1942, in Tracy, Minn. She worked for Ed Philips & Sons, Fargo, First National Bank, Fort Smith, Ark., and U.S. Army Post Exchange, Fort Sill, Okla. She returned to Moorhead. She lived in Stanley, N.D., and moved to Grand Forks in 1951. She worked for Bill Larson Co., Loyde C. Thompson Insurance Co., and the Great Northern and Burlington Northern Railroad from 1954 until retiring in 1982. Kenneth Willey died Sept. 26, 1989.
She is survived by a son, Darro, Avondale Estates, Ga.; a daughter, Danni Willey, Klamath Falls, Ore.; and two granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by a grandchild; and a brother, Lowell.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, University Lutheran Church, Grand Forks (Amundson, Grand Forks).
Katherine Rasmussen
DEVILS LAKE -- Katherine E. Rasmussen, 55, Devils Lake, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Katherine Elizabeth Ebertz was born Dec. 10, 1945, the daughter of Nicholas and Violet (Shorey) Ebertz, in Devils Lake, where she attended school. She married
Everett Rasmussen on Aug. 3, 1964, in Crookston. They lived on a farm near Doyon, N.D. They retired in 1994. In 1996, they moved to Devils Lake. Everett Rasmussen died Jan. 22, 1997.
She is survived by daughters, Marie (Luther) Koapke, St. Thomas, N.D., Margo (Doyle) Aas and Kylie Rasmussen, both of Devils Lake, and Val (Darrel) Baltzell, Stephen, Minn.; sons, Everett (Bobbi) Jr., Doyon, and Mark and Carl, both of Devils Lake; 14 grandchildren; sisters, Darlene Siegel, Sunnyvale, Calif., and Karen Beauchamp, Devils Lake; and brothers, John and Michael, both of Devils Lake.
She was preceded in death by a grandson.
Services: 10 a.m. Friday, St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Doyon.
