Mary Gustin
WEST FARGO -- Mary Gustin, 65, West Fargo, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, in Bethany Homes, Fargo.
Mary Lillis was born Jan. 19, 1935, the daughter of Ted and Clarissa Lillis, in Dent, Minn., where she grew up and attended school. She moved to Minneapolis. She married
Marvin Ruud on June 26, 1954. They lived in Pelican Rapids, Minn., Fargo and West Fargo. She worked at the Derby Cafe and Mrs. Blows, both in Fargo, Highway Host and Silver Dollar, both in West Fargo, and West Acres Bowl, Fargo. She married
Lawrence "Larry" Gustin on July 8, 1977. He died in 1993.
She is survived by children, Debra (Trent) Jevne, Brian Ruud and Bradley Ruud, all of West Fargo, and Colleen (John) O'Bryan, Grand Forks; stepchildren, Jean Gustin, St. Joseph, Minn., Barb Gustin, Fargo, Terrence Gustin, Missouri Valley, Iowa, and Dale Gustin, Bismarck; and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Allen Ruud.
Services: 1: 30 p.m. Sunday, West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo.
Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral home.
Burial: Springvale Cemetery, Fargo.
Lori Hollinger
DEVILS LAKE -- Lori A. Hollinger, 37, Rapid City, S.D., formerly of Devils Lake, died Thursday, Nov. 30, in Rapid City.
Lori Ann Schemionek was born April 16, 1963, the daughter of William "Bill" and Ilene (Nagel) Schemi-Ťonek, in Devils Lake, where she graduated from high school in 1981. She graduated from Lake Region Junior College with an associates degree. She married
Kevin Birkeland on Dec. 10, 1983, in Devils Lake, where they lived. She worked for Ramsey National Bank and later Target Roofing, Devils Lake. In July 1993, she moved to Rapid City, where she worked for Black Hills Retirement Center and ran a day care. She married
Dion Hollinger on Jan. 28, 1994, in Deadwood, S.D. They lived in Rapid City.
She is survived by her husband; children, Cody, Lindsey and Levi, all at home; her parents; and a brother, Randy (Julie), Devils Lake.
Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Devils Lake Cemetery.
Lillian Kaul
NEW ROCKFORD, N.D. -- Lillian Kaul, 91, New Rockford, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, in the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, where she had lived since December 1995.
Lillian Mirandy Simonson was born June 3, 1909, the daughter of Martin and Anna (Erickson) Simonson, in Wells County, N.D., where she attended school. She married
Alfred Proefrock in 1928. He died. She married
William Kaul on Feb. 27, 1950. She worked for several hotels in Fessenden, Sheyenne, and New Rockford. She worked for Swift and Co. Poultry Processing Plant, New Rockford. William Kaul died Jan. 24, 1988.
She is survived by sons, Franklyn (Sandy) Proefrock, North Branch, Minn., Robert (Bea) Proefrock, Portland, Ore., Oris Proefrock, Sumner, Wash., Ron (Virginia) Proefrock, Nisland, S.D., Marvin (Remy) Proefrock, North Las Vegas, Nev., LeRoy Proefrock, Missoula, Mont., Larry (Lorraine) Kaul, LaMoure, N.D., Duane (Linda) Kaul, Bagley, Minn., and Raymond (Joy) Kaul, Bismarck; daughters, Charlotte (Don) Skiftun, Fessenden, N.D., and Betty Washington, Bullhead City, Ariz.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; brothers, Selmer and Tilman, both of Fessenden; and sisters, Alma Monk, Fessenden, and Stelma Klemin, New Rockford.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Milmer and Hayward.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, First Lutheran Church, New Rockford.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, both in Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.
Burial: Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford.
Albert Shone
Albert "Al" Shone, 53, West Fargo, formerly of Grand Forks, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, in Dakota Heartland Hospital, Fargo.
Albert H. Shone was born March 4, 1947, the son of Albert and Ethel (Linder) Shone, in Webster, N.Y. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Margaret and Harold Bonisteel. He joined the U.S. military in 1965 after graduating from high school. He lived at Grand Forks Air Force Base from 1965 to 1969. He married
LaVonne Czapiewski in 1967, in Grand Forks. In 1970, they moved to Fargo, where he worked for the North Dakota Air National Guard. He retired in 1999. They moved to West Fargo in 1976. He worked for Lunde Motors, Fargo.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Randy (Cindy), Fargo; a daughter, Lisa Golay, Fargo; four grandchildren; a brother, John (Karen), of New York; and a sister, Linda (Ron) Geir, Grand Forks.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Tuesday, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, West Fargo.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, West Funeral Home, West Fargo, and one hour before services in the church.

Lawrence Prosser
CROOKSTON -- Lawrence "Larry" Prosser, 79, Crookston, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Lawrence L. Prosser was born Nov. 22, 1921, the son of Walter and Emma (Danielson) Prosser, in Kittson County, Minn. He graduated from high school in Greenbush, Minn., in 1940. He married
Joydice Skatrud on Dec. 15, 1944, in Halma, Minn., where they farmed. They moved to Lake Bronson, Minn. He owned and operated an International Harvester Implement store in Lake Bronson, with his brother. In 1959, he began working for Massey-Ferguson in Kennedy, Minn. He moved to Crookston, where he was the general manager for Massey-Ferguson Implement. He retired in 1981.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, LaVonne (Ron) Ellisor, Houston, and Sheryl Prosser, Grand Forks; sons, Keith (Loree), Northwood, N.D., and Kent (Diane), Grand Forks; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Waymen (Lorraine), Halma; and a sister-in-law, Gertrude Prosser, Hallock, Minn.
He was preceded in death by a grandson; brothers, Leslie, Charles, Archie, and Harry; and sisters, May, Pearl, and Agnes.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston.
Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral home.
Burial: Lake Bronson.
The Rev. Donald Archer
CROOKSTON -- The Rev. Donald Archer, 78, Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Crookston, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at home.
Donald Archer was born June 15, 1922, the son of Frank and Catherine (Crennen) Archer, in Murdock, Minn. He attended school in Murdock and Minneapolis. He attended St. Thomas College: Nazareth Hall, St. Paul and the St. Paul Seminary. He was ordained a priest on June 5, 1948, in St. Paul. He served the Diocese of Crookston as an assistant pastor at Ada, Felton, Thief River Falls, Goodridge, Grygla, Middle River and Crookston. He served as pastor at Badger, Benwood, Fertile, Twin Valley, Baudette, Williams, Euclid, Ada, Felton, Dorothy, Gentilly, Oslo, Argyle, Alma and Crookston. He was also a civilian chaplain of the Air Force at Baudette (Minn.) Radar Station. In December 1994, he retired and moved to Mesa, where he assisted at All Saints Parish.
He was preceded in death by five brothers; and three sisters.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, and one hour before services in the church.

Anna Aschberger
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Anna Aschberger, 92, Thief River Falls, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls.
Anna Appelt was born on Oct. 21, 1908, the daughter of William and Sophie (Heil) Appelt, in Harvey, N.D. She attended school in Anamoose, N.D. She attended seamstress school and worked out of her home. She married
John Aschberger on June 25, 1928, in Harvey. They lived in Tappen, N.D. In 1981 they moved to Thief River Falls.
She is survived by a daughter, Jeanet "Jan" (Patrick) Halling, Thief River Falls; a son, Lloyd (Kay), Willis, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Joyce; sisters, Adeline Rott, Regina Schliender, Lydia Normonson and Metha Bruce; and brothers, William, Emmanuel and Edward.
Services: 1: 30 p.m. Monday, Green Funeral Home Chapel, Thief River Falls.
Visitation: Noon until the time of services in the funeral home.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
