Marian Affeldt
DEVILS LAKE -- Marian V. Affeldt, 77, Devils Lake, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Marian Viola Clifton was born Oct. 27, 1923, the daughter of Ingvald and Bertha (Stromberg) Clifton, in Maddock, N.D., where she attended school. She married
Harold Swanson in Devils Lake. They lived in Devils Lake, Williston, N.D., Miles City, Mont., and then in New Rockford, N.D. Harold Swanson died Oct. 6, 1962. She married
Chester Ingebretson in New Rockford, where they lived. He died in April 1970. She married
DuWayne Affeldt in Carrington, N.D. They lived in New Rockford. DuWayne Affeldt died in April 1987. She moved to Devils Lake.
She is survived by a daughter, Marla (Wayne) Nelson, Devils Lake; a son, Michael (Teresa) Swanson, Albany, N.Y.; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister, Irene Haugen, Yuma, Ariz.; and brothers, Arnold, Devils Lake, and Harry, Portland, Ore.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Hellesvig; and brothers, Robert and Raymond.
Services: 1 p.m. Monday, Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake.
Visitation: 1 to 5 p.m. today, and 9 a.m. until time of services Monday both in the funeral home.
Burial: Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford.
Elizabeth Volk
DEVILS LAKE -- Elizabeth M. Volk, 90, Devils Lake, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, in Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.
Elizabeth M. Muffenbier was born Dec. 23, 1909, the daughter of John and Anna (Bachmeier) Muffenbier, in Pierce County, N.D., where she attended school. She married
Aloise Volk on Nov. 3, 1931, in Rugby, N.D. They lived in Rugby until moving to Devils Lake in 1954. Aloise Volk died April 1, 1967.
She is survived by daughters, Julie Hanson, Silver City, N.M., Annette (Herbert) Felch, Devils Lake, Edie Walker, Lakewood, Calif.; sons, Robert (Marge), Casselton, N.D., Kenneth (Marie), Yakima, Wash., Duane (Bev), Green Bay, Wis.; 25 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Voeller, Rugby; and a brother, Valentine, Rugby.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth; a daughter, Marie; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; sisters, Gunda Eberle, Lena Jager, and Gertrude Jager; and brothers, Jack, John and Mike.
Services: 10 a.m. Friday, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. rosary and vigil service, Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Devils Lake.
Roy Meyer
LEEDS, N.D. -- Roy J. Meyer, 73, Leeds, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, in Heart of America Medical Center, Rugby, N.D.
Roy Joseph Meyer was born Dec. 6, 1926, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Sherry) Meyer, in Butte Valley Township, Benson County, N.D., where he attended school. He married
Mary Lou Thomas on June 28, 1948, in Brinsmade, N.D. They lived and farmed south of Harlow, N.D. They moved to Leeds in 1970. He retired in 1979. Mary Lou Meyer died Oct. 26, 1982.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda (Daren) Lysne, Rugby; three grandchildren; a brother, Bernard (Jean), York, N.D.; sisters, Mabel Fitzpatrick, Devils Lake, Albena Erickson, Maddock, N.D., and Irene (Joe) Risovi, Hamberg, N.D.; and a brother-in-law, Johnny Piatz, Towner, N.D.
He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph; and sisters, Alice Buchta and Marie Piatz.
Services: 2 p.m. today, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Leeds.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Church Cemetery
(Nelson, Leeds).
Alvin Olson
NORTHWOOD, N.D. -- Alvin T. Olson, 88, Fargo, formerly of Northwood, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at home.
Alvin T. Olson was born Jan. 31, 1912, the son of Gilbert and Helena (Sagen) Olson, in Northwood. He farmed in Northwood. He married
Stella Grindeland on Nov. 20, 1937, in Hatton, N.D. She died July 31, 2000.
He is survived by a son, Robert (Debi), Fargo; daughters, Arlene Krebsbach and Vickie (Gene) Krueger, both of Fargo, and Renee Bjerke, Aneta, N.D.; 14 grandchildren; brothers, Glen, Grand Forks, and Rueben, Medford, Ore.; and a sister, Harriet Fischer, Rexburg, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Johnson; and brothers, Orville, Melford, Kenneth, and Milton "Irvin."
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Tuesday, Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Northwood.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Bilden Funeral Home, Northwood.
Burial: South Cemetery, Northwood.
Gerald Hogan Jr.
Gerald W. "Jerry" Hogan Jr., 40, Fargo, formerly of Grand Forks, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at home.
Gerald William Hogan was born Aug. 13, 1960, the son of Gerald and Elaine (Albrecht) Hogan, in Grand Forks, where he graduated from high school in 1978. He worked for Bekins Moving Co. and later as a self-employed truck driver. He moved to Fargo in 1997. He owned and operated Jerry's Top Quality Cleaning, Fargo. He married
Magie Allard on May 21, 1983, in Grand Forks.
He is survived by his stepfather, Lysle (Donna) Martinson, Thief River Falls; a brother, Rick (Ronda), Grand Forks; a sister, JoLynn (Bill) Dickson, Gilby, N.D.; his grandfather, William "Bud" Monaghan, Grand Forks; and companion, Magie Hogan Schwartz, Grand Forks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John.
Services: 3 p.m. Thursday, Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks.
Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral home.
Burial: Sunnywood Gardens Cemetery, Grand Forks.
Lepha Knowles
LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Lepha Knowles, 91, Long Beach, died of cancer Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, in Long Beach.
Lepha Knowles was born June 26, 1909, in St. Joseph Township, N.D.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Knowles; and a sister, Beatrice Lee, Walhalla, N.D.
Services: 1 p.m. Thursday in the Church of Our Fathers, Forest Lawn, Cypress, Calif.

Angel Davis
Angel Davis, infant daughter of Elton and Felicia (Belgarde) Davis, Dunseith, N.D., was born and died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, in Heart of America Medical Center, Rugby, N.D.
She is survived by her parents; a brother, Skye, at home; and a sister, Emily, at home; grandparents, Rita and Gary Davis, Dunseith, Thomas Davis, and Tina Day, both of Belcourt, N.D.; and great-grandparents, Emily Davis, Dunseith, and Steve and Ann Myers, Belcourt.
Services: Were held in Dunseith.
Burial: St. Louis Catholic Cemetery
