Louise Stenseth
BEMIDJI -- Louise M. Stenseth, 99, Bemidji, formerly of Devils Lake, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, in North Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bemidji.
Louise Martha Froelich was born Jan. 20, 1901, the daughter of Adolph and Theresa (Muetzel) Froelich, in Redwood Falls, Minn. She moved with her family to Devils Lake, where she attended school. In 1914, they moved near Crary, N.D. She worked in the Crary Post Office for two years. She married
Hjalmar Stenseth on July 6, 1921, in Crary. They lived in Crary. Hjalmar Stenseth died Oct. 26, 1947. She moved to Devils Lake in June 1975. In December 1998, she moved to Bemidji to live with her daughter, Virginia. She later moved into the nursing home in Bemidji.
She is survived by sons, Darrell "Bud" (Dolores), Devils Lake, and Duane (Cleo), Grand Forks; daughters, Virginia Benson, Bemidji, Doris (Glenn) Cudmore, Loveland, Colo., and Lois (Jack) Rogan, Helena, Mont.; stepdaughter, Loretta Olson, Detroit Lakes, Minn.; 20 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandson; and brothers, Theodore and Wallace.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Devils Lake.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Devils Lake Cemetery.
Alice Estenson
CROOKSTON -- Alice S. Estenson, 79, Hibbing, Minn., formerly of Crookston, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at home.
Alice Serena Gilbertson was born Nov. 22, 1921, the daughter of Thomas and Serena (Stortroen) Gilbertson, in Chinook, Alta. She married
Virgil Estenson on Oct. 3, 1946, in Climax, Minn. They lived in Crookston. In 1952, they moved to Hibbing. She worked for Scott's Dime Store and Woolworth's, Hibbing.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Debbie Estenson, Hibbing; a son, Terry (Lynn), Big Lake, Minn.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Gib (Edmie), Vancouver, B.C.; and sisters, Mabel (Bill) McFalls, Hanna, Alta., and Marie Dickinson, LaCombe, Alta.
She was preceded in death by a son, Danny; and brothers, Jim and Ernie.
Visitation: 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Hibbing.
Burial: Sand Hill Cemetery, Climax. Memorials are suggested to North Star Hospice, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, or the American Cancer Society (Anderson-Daniels, Hibbing).
Mary Moore
DRAYTON, N.D. -- Mary Moore, formerly of Drayton, died of cancer Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, in Alamo, Calif.
Mary Halcrow was born in 1946, the daughter of Raymond and Elva Halcrow, in Drayton. She graduated from UND in 1968. She taught in Phoenix and Pasadena, Calif. She married
Michael Halcrow in 1971. They moved to Alamo in 1985.
She is survived by her husband; daughters, Grace and Jamie; a sister, Dr. Margaret Nordell, Minot; and a brother, the Rev. Michael, Carson, Calif.

Oscar Gendreau
WALHALLA, N.D. -- Oscar Gendreau, 80, Walhalla, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, in Maple Manor Care Center, Langdon, N.D.
Oscar Gendreau was born Nov. 8, 1920, the son of Wilfred and Eva (Benoit) Gendreau. He grew up in the Olga, N.D., area. He married
Eva Carpenter, in Olga. They farmed near Olga and lived in Walhalla. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He also worked for the Pembina County Highway Department. He sold fish and also farmed. Emily Gendreau died Oct. 8, 1985. He married
Vitaline McCloud and they lived in Langdon. He lived in a nursing home in Edmore, before moving to Maple Manor.
He is survived by his children, Judynne (Marvin) Bjornson, Mountain, N.D., Oliver (Terri), Seattle, Clayton and Maxine (Garth) Bjornson, both of Walhalla, Loren (Betty), Pembina, N.D., Wilmar (Nancy), Seattle, Carol (Duane) Bjornson, Grafton, N.D., and Linda (Paul) Bjornson, Roseau, Minn.; 23 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerard (Joan), Grand Forks; a sister, Irene (Lawrence) Koehmstedt; a brother-in-law, Arvid Breeke, Inkster, N.D.; and sisters-in-law, Ethel Geir, Ione, Wash., Marjorie Gendreau, Escanba, Mich., Vivian Carpenter, Walhalla, and Dorothy Carpenter, Cavalier, N.D.
He was preceded in death by his wives; a son, Bobby Joe; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Harvey; and sisters, Clara and Gloria.
Services: 2 p.m. Dec. 30, St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla.
Rosary and vigil service: 3 p.m. Dec. 29, in the church (Brooks, Langdon).
William Schumacher
GRAFTON, N.D. -- William "Bill" Schumacher, 60, Grafton, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
William Schumacher was born March 27, 1940, the son of Clement and Helen (Foley) Schumacher, in Grafton, where he graduated from high school. He attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, N.D. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He worked for Borden Starch plant in Grafton until 1979. He worked for the State Developmental Center, Grafton. He retired in 1999.
He is survived by several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Grafton.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Henriksen-Kamrowski Funeral Home, Grafton, and one hour before services in the church.
Sylvia Schipper
CROOKSTON -- Sylvia Schipper, 91, Crookston, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, in Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home.
Sylvia La Vada Frisbie was born Sept. 15, 1909, the daughter of Charles and Saphronia (Mountain) Frisbie, Messena, Iowa. She moved with her family to Crookston, where she graduated from high school in 1929. She married
Edward Schipper in June 1929. They lived and farmed in Parnell Township, Polk County, Minn.
She is survived by a son, Vance (June), Crookston; a daughter, La Vada Hanson, Steele, N.D.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Earl (Aline), Lubbuck, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Burl and Dale; two grandchildren; five brothers; and a sister.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, Church of Christ, Crookston.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a 7 p.m. Eastern Star Service, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston.
Frederick Hoselton
CROOKSTON -- Frederick "Fred" Hoselton, 98, Crookston, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, in Riverview Nursing Home, Crookston.
Frederick Hoselton was born Dec. 18, 1901, the son of John and Christine (McLean) Hoselton, in Drayton, N.D., where he attended school. He farmed, worked in logging, for the railroad, on a thrashing crew in Canada and as a federal marshal. He married
Dorothy Weeks on July 5, 1939, in Cavalier, N.D. In 1943, they moved to a farm near Crookston. He retired in 1970, but remained involved with farming. Dorothy Hoselton died Nov. 6, 1994.
He is survived by daughters, Diane (Sam) Genova, Pueblo, Colo., and Lavina Hoselton, Elk River, Minn.; sons, Wallace (JoAnn), Red Lake Falls, Minn., and Douglas (Mikki), Granada Hills, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Wilbur, Reginald, Perey and Jack; and sisters, Mary Murphy and Annie Hoselton.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, First Presbyterian Church, Crookston.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Presbyterian Church Columbarium (Stenshoel-Houske, Crookston).
