Albert Thompson
COOPERSTOWN, N.D. -- Albert Thompson, 76, Cooperstown, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Albert Leonard Thompson was born July 31, 1924, the son of Knute and Martha (Jacobson) Thompson, in Dover Township, Griggs County, N.D., where he attended school. He attended the State School of Science in Wahpeton, N.D. He married
JoAnn Armstrong on Nov. 22, 1950, in Walum, N.D. They lived in Cooperstown. He owned and operated the business Skyways at the Cooperstown Municipal Airport from 1949 until retiring in 1984.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Barbara (Dan) Seeba, Fargo, Linda (Kenn) Haugen and Tisha (Lee) Skarloken, both of Davenport, N.D., Anne (Shawn) Steffen, Cooperstown, and Nancy (Dale) Pedersen, Luverne, N.D.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; a brother, John (Esther), Hannaford, N.D.; and sisters, Marion Michaelson, Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Clara (Raymond) Walks, Wimbledon, N.D.
He was preceded in death by two infant sisters; and brothers, Casper, Clarence, Oscar and Morris.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown.
Visitation: 5: 30 to 8 p.m. today, with a 5 p.m. family prayer service, Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown.
Burial: 1: 30 p.m. Friday, Eidfjord Cemetery, Walum.
Elizabeth Christenson
BEMIDJI -- Elizabeth "Betty" Christenson, 74, Bemidji, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at home.
Elizabeth Ann Schultz was born April 19, 1926, the daughter of John and Madeline (Verhasselt) Schultz, in St. Charles, Ill., where she attended school. She worked for Moline-Malbo Co., and later for Howell's manufacturing, making airplane wings for World War II aircraft. She married
Earl Christenson on May 31, 1947, in St. Charles. She worked for Holley Products and part time for Dukanes. In 1969, they moved to Bemidji.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Kent (MaryJo) and Jeff (Vicky), both of Bemidji; daughters, Pam (Wayne) Hochrein, Eden Prairie, Minn., Nancy (Jeff) Long, Bemidji, and Janice (Greg) Sande, Puposky, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; and sisters, Lil Feltgen, Geneva, Ill., Fran Arthur, Bemidji, and Joan (Bud) Shales, Elgin, Ill.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony "Tony."
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday, St. Philip's Catholic Church, Bemidji.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Cease Family Funeral Home, Bemidji, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery, Bemidji.
Margaret Janssen
CROOKSTON -- Margaret M. Janssen, 81, Crookston, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, in Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home, Crookston.
Margaret M. Beattie was born Jan. 15, 1919, the daughter of George and Alma (Severson) Beattie, in St. Paul. She moved with her family to Superior and Spooner, Wis., and to Crookston. She attended school in Fertile, Minn., and Crookston. She married
George Janssen on Oct. 3, 1937, in Crookston, where they farmed. They retired in the early 1970s. George Janssen died Oct. 7, 1988.
She is survived by a son, Roger (Barbara), Crookston; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, George Jr.; and a sister, Elinor Hill.
Services: 1 p.m. Friday, First Presbyterian Church, Crookston.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a 6: 45 p.m. prayer service, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston.
Pius Wangler
RUGBY, N.D. -- Pius Wangler, 83, Rugby, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, in Trinity Medical Center, Minot.
Pius Wangler was born June 7, 1917, the son of Matthias and Magdalena (Senger) Wangler, in Tuscarora Township, Pierce County, N.D., where he attended school. He worked on the family farm his entire life. He married
Kathryn Kurtz on Nov. 26, 1940, in Rugby. She died May 27, 1960. He married
Madelen Schmidt on Aug. 25, 1962, in Rugby. She died March 5, 1986.
He is survived by daughters, Annette (Emery) Mears, Rolla, N.D., Patricia (Byron) Opstad, Bloomington, Minn., Judith (Loren) Carr, Morris, Minn., Jacqueline (Dan) Jacobson, Arnold, Md., Sharon (Galen) Vaa, Moorhead, and Janelle (Al) Jacobson, Rugby; sons, David and Dale (Kristin), both of Rugby; 26 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a stepson, Roderick Schmidt, Halstad, Minn.; and a sister, Elizabeth Axtman, Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
Services: 2 p.m. today, Little Flower Catholic Church, Rugby.
Visitation: 10: 30 a.m. to noon today, Anderson Funeral Home, Rugby.
Burial: St. Anselm's Cemetery, Fulda, N.D.
Millie Gilbertson
MAYVILLE, N.D. -- Millie Gilbertson, 82, Mayville, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, in Union Hospital, Mayville.
Millie Olson was born Nov. 17, 1918, the daughter of Clara Olson, in Newberg Township, Steele County, N.D., where she attended school. She married
Gilbert Gilbertson on Nov. 30, 1938, in Finley, N.D. In 1941, they moved to Mayville where she worked at several jobs. She later worked for Luther Memorial Home in the housekeeping department for 25 years. She retired in 1986. Gilbert Gilbertson died Dec. 9, 1995.
She is survived by daughters, Barbara (David) Alinder, Fargo, Joan (Bob) Strand, Bemidji; two grandchildren; two step granddaughters; and three step great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Fern.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Thursday, Mayville Lutheran Church, Mayville.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. today, Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Mayville Cemetery.
Lucia DeGagne
CROOKSTON -- Lucia DeGagne, 89, Crookston, died Sept. 28, 2000, in Villa St. Vincent, Crookston.
Lucia DeGagne was born Nov. 19, 1910, the daughter of Charles and Margaret DeGagne, in rural East Grand Forks. She managed the family farm and worked for George Boushee Potato Co., East Grand Forks.
She is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Cariveau, Santa Barbara, Calif.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph and Arthur; and sisters, Marie, Sister Margaret Mary, Anne and Angela.
Memorial services: 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, East Grand Forks.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks.
