Bernadette Klindt
Bernadette L. "Bernie" Klindt, 44, Grand Forks, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, in Altru Hospital.
Bernadette Louise Lang was born July 12, 1956, the daughter of Richard and Francis (Bonn) Lang, in Langdon, N.D. She grew up and graduated from high school in Thompson, N.D. She married
Richard Klindt on July 26, 1974, in Grand Forks. She attended Northwest Technical School in East Grand Forks. She worked at Altru Hospital as a care associate in the obstetrics department for 12 years.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Shane (Laura), Denver, and Jonah "Joe" and Richard Jr. "Ricky, " both of Grand Forks; a daughter, Anna Klindt, Grand Forks; her parents, Grand Forks; brothers, Richard (Rita), Reynolds, N.D., Ervin, Blaine, Minn., Jack (Colleen), Maddock, N.D., Keith (Julie), Mekinock, N.D., and Curt (Tammy), Anoka, Minn.; and a sister, Melinda Lang, Thompson.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Bernadine; and a brother, Terry.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Michael's Catholic Church.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service followed by a rosary service at 7 p.m. in Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery.
Doris Townsend
HILLSBORO, N.D. -- Doris Townsend, 88, Sublimity, Ore., formerly of Hillsboro, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in Marian Estates, Sublimity.
Doris R. Berg was born July 29, 1912, the daughter of Peder and Julia (Kaldor) Berg, in Hillsboro. She graduated from high school in Mayville, N.D., and from St. John's Hospital School of Nursing, Fargo. She later attended Northwestern Nazarene College, Nampa, Idaho. She was a nurse in several areas of the country. She married
Arless Austin on March 25, 1960, in California. He died in 1986. She married
Glenn Townsend on May 24, 1988.
She is survived by her husband; a sister, Jeanette Overmoen, Hillsboro; and a sister-in-law, Lillian Berg, Hillsboro.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Alf.
Services: 1 p.m. Friday, Aal Lutheran Church, Hillsboro.
Visitation: Noon to 5 p.m. today, Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Aal Church Cemetery.
Alvina Heisler
DEVILS LAKE -- Alvina Heisler, 72, Devils Lake, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Alvina Hieb was born July 30, 1928, the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Keebler) Hieb, in McClusky, N.D., where she attended school. She lived in Bismarck until 1947. She married
Leonard Heisler on Sept. 13, 1947, in Harvey, N.D. They lived in Harvey until 1960, when they moved to Devils Lake. She worked at Majestic Cleaners and Lake Region Lutheran Home. She also helped her husband at the Bell Tone Hearing Aid Center, Devils Lake. They retired in October 1991.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Tim, Mandan, N.D., and Dave (JoAnn), Devils Lake; daughters, Debbie (Rick) Engen, Grand Forks, and Nancy (Dave) Ford, Webster, N.D.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Annette Weiser, Spokane, Wash., and Leona Seilinger, Wing, N.D.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Emma Werner, Ida Werner and Adeline Conger; and brothers, Emil and Art.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, with a 7 p.m. rosary and vigil service, and 9 to 11: 30 a.m. Saturday, Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
Ramona Nelson
Ramona Nelson, 69, 2115 Oak St., died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, in Altru Hospital.
Ramona was born Jan. 16, 1931, the daughter of Jennie Sather, in Grand Forks. She grew up in Gully, Minn., where she attended school. She moved to Grand Forks, where she graduated from high school. She married
Marlin Nelson on July 12, 1947, in Grand Forks. She worked at UND as a technician in the microbiology lab, managed JoDee's Fashion Store and then Herbergers, both in Grand Forks. She then managed Herbergers Plus stores in the tri-state area. She retired in the late 1980s.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Susan (Bradley) Hass, Grand Forks; sons, Larry, Fargo, and David (Georgia), Chicago; a daughter-in-law, Betty Nelson, Grand Forks; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother; and stepfather, Tom Dvorak.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Sharon Lutheran Church, Grand Forks.
Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with a 6 p.m. prayer service, Stennes Funeral Home, East Grand Forks.
Burial: Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks.
Lou Peltier
CROOKSTON -- Lou Peltier, 93, Crookston, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, in Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home, Crookston.
Lou Ristau was born Sept. 23, 1907, the daughter of Robert and Pauline (Krueger) Ristau, in Polk County, Minn., where she attended school. She married
Clarence Peltier on Oct. 2, 1931, in Ada, Minn. They farmed in Roome Township, Polk County, until retiring in 1961. Clarence Peltier died Jan. 19, 1986.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lynn "Lynn" Peltier, Boise, Idaho; five grandchildren; a sister, Vivian Brown, Crookston; and a daughter-in-law, Myra Peltier, Missoula, Mont.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Crookston.
Adie Kerner
GRAFTON, N.D. -- Adie Kerner, 89, Grafton, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, in Unity Medical Center, Grafton.
Adie Maanum was born May 8, 1911, the daughter of Julius and Julia (Sletten) Maanum, in Hoffman, Minn. She graduated from high school in Barrett, Minn., in 1929. She worked for S & L Co. in Benson, Minn. She married
John Kerner on Feb. 10, 1935, in Danvers, Minn. They worked at S & L Co. and transferred to Grafton, in 1939. They lived in Sioux Falls, S.D., Algona, Iowa, Valley City, N.D., and Fargo. They moved back to Grafton in 1948. John Kerner died July 5, 1996.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Rose Marie Kerner, Grafton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Maanum, Lansing, Ill.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dr. James; three sisters; and a brother.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Lutheran Sunset Home Chapel, Grafton.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Henriksen-Kamrowski Funeral Home, Grafton, and one hour before services in the chapel.
Burial: Grafton Lutheran Cemetery.
