Dorothy Haraseth
NEKOMA, N.D. -- Dorothy Haraseth, 73, Edmore, N.D., formerly of Nekoma, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, in Cavalier County Memorial Hospital, Langdon, N.D.
Dorothy Evelyn Johnson was born March 8, 1927, the daughter of Fred and Emma (Melland) Johnson, in Billings Township, Cavalier County, N.D., where she attended school. She married
Gilmer Haraseth on June 15, 1948, in Hampden, N.D. They lived and farmed near Nekoma. Gilmer Haraseth died Oct. 4, 1987. In 1987 she moved into Nekoma and for the past year lived in Edmore.
She is survived by a daughter, Darlene (Jerry) Roppel, Nekoma; sons, Gary (Karen), Langdon, N.D., Kenneth (Sandy), Riverdale, N.D., and Rodney (Elizabeth), Nekoma; five grandchildren; and sisters, Betty Holth, Fairdale, N.D., and Gladys Haraseth, Edmore.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nekoma Lutheran Church.
Visitation: 2 to 8: 30 p.m. today, with a 7: 30 p.m. prayer service, Brooks Funeral Home, Langdon.
Burial: Nekoma Lutheran Cemetery.
Stella Olson
NORTHWOOD, N.D. -- Stella Olson, 84, Northwood, died Monday, July 31, 2000, in Deaconess Health Center, Northwood, where she had lived since 1997.
Stella Nelson was born May 30, 1916, the daughter of Gust and Anna (Grindeland) Nelson, in Hatton, N.D., where she attended school. She married
Alvin Olson on Nov. 20, 1937, in Hatton. They lived in Northwood.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Robert, (Debi), Fargo; daughters, Arlene Krebsbach and Vickie (Gene) Krueger, both of Fargo, and Renee Bjerke, Aneta, N.D.; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wilma Grindeland, Great Falls, Mont.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Art, Norman, and Ernest; and sisters, Irene and an infant Irene.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Thursday, Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Northwood.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Bilden Funeral Home, Northwood.
Burial: South Cemetery, Northwood.
Ione Hanson
MAYVILLE, N.D. -- Ione C. Hanson, 82, Mayville, died Monday, July 31, 2000, at home.
Ione C. Matter was born March 31, 1918, the daughter of Matthew and Julia (Sullivan) Matter, in Crystal, N.D. She attended school in Crystal and Devils Lake. She attended Mayville State University and UND. She married
T.A. Hanson on May 29, 1940, in Crystal. She taught school in Kenewick, Wash. They moved to Cooperstown, N.D., where she taught school. They later moved to Mayville, where she taught until she retired.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Donald (Terri), Belgrade, Mont., and Robert, Washington; five grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Donna), Devils Lake; and a sister, Lois Reicert, San Diego.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Mayville.
Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Mayville Cemetery.
Ernest Strom
HILLSBORO, N.D. -- Ernest Strom, 84, Hillsboro, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, in Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home, where he had lived since April 2000.
Ernest Strom was born July 17, 1916, the son of Christian and Olifina (Bidsler) Strom, in Mayville, N.D., where he attended school. He served in the U.S. Army from April 1942 to November 1945. He married
Maxine Benson in 1947, in Mayville. They lived in Mayville before moving to Excelsior, Minn. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for 20 years in the Minneapolis area. He later moved to Hillsboro.
He is survived by daughters, Mary Strom, Minneapolis and Christine (Scott) MacDonald, St. Louis Park, Minn.; a granddaughter; and sisters, Eleanor Daily, Excelsior, and Josie Carbeau, Santa Rosa, Calif.
He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
Memorial Services: 11 a.m. today, Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Hillsboro.
Henry Olufson
Henry Olufson, 88, 2450 27th Ave. S., died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Henry Olaf Olufson was born Aug. 4, 1912, the son of Theodore and Ida (Overland) Olufson, in Hamlet, N.D. He moved with his family to Mekinock, N.D., where he attended school. He moved to Grand Forks in 1928. He married
Emeline Kroll on Jan. 12, 1942, in Stephen, Minn. She died in 1978. He married
Helen Pederson on June 12, 1986, in Grand Forks. He farmed until his retirement in 1976.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Theodore (Gayle) and Larry, both of Grand Forks; a daughter, Meredith Dubuque, Grand Forks; five granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Edwin (Violet), Thief River Falls; and sisters, Emma (Joseph) Robins, Reseda, Calif., and Thelma (Lester) Bratvold, East Grand Forks.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Oscar.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, United Lutheran Church.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a 6: 30 p.m. prayer service, Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery.
Viola Anfinson
RUGBY, N.D. -- Viola "Vi" B. Anfinson, 87, Rugby, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, in the Heart of America Long Term Care Unit, where she had lived since 1998.
Viola Berdella Anfinson was born April 26, 1913, the daughter of Carl and Caroline (Espe) Anfinson, in Pleasant Valley Township, Rolette County, N.D. She graduated from Bisbee (N.D.) High School on May 28, 1931. She lived on the family farm, working with her parents. In 1942, Viola and her mother moved to Mylo, where she worked at a local restaurant and later at the Mylo Implement as a bookkeeper. She worked at Rolette State Bank until her retirement. She moved to Rugby in 1991.
She is survived by sisters-in-law, Lucile Anfinson, Towner, N.D., and Carrie Anfinson, Mylo.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two infant sisters.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Mylo Lutheran Church.
Visitation: 6 to 8: 30 p.m. Tuesday, 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, both in Niewoehner Funeral Home, Rolette, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Mylo Cemetery.
Marguerite Solberg
CHURCHS FERRY, N.D. -- Marguerite Solberg, 101, Billings, Mont., formerly of Churchs Ferry, died Dec. 24, 1999, in Valley Health Care Center, Billings.
Marguerite Solberg was born July 15, 1898, the daughter of Hans and Kristi Solberg, in Churchs Ferry, N.D., where she graduated from high school. She attended Mayville State Teachers College and taught in North Dakota and Minnesota until moving to Billings in 1924. She earned her bachelor's degree from Rocky Mountain College in 1940. She taught in Billings from 1924 until her retirement in 1961.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Ann (Art) Solberg, Langdon, N.D.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Art, Harold, and Roy; and sisters, Ragna Solberg, and Florence Braeger (Fally).
Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Churchs Ferry Cemetery
