Mayo Faleide
MADDOCK, N.D. -- Mayo Faleide, 57, Louisville, Ky., formerly of Maddock, died Aug. 24, 2000, in University Hospital, Louisville.
Mayo Richard Edward Faleide was born April 12, 1943, the son of Adolph and Hulda (Lynne) Faleide, in Maddock, where he attended school. He graduated in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army. He married
Anita Radke. They lived in Kentucky. They returned to North Dakota. They lived near Minnewaukan and Maddock. In 1977, he returned to Louisville, where he worked as a stone mason.
He is survived by sons, James (Janet), and Richard (Tina), both of Louisville; a daughter, Krissy, Gainsville, Fla.; four grandsons; his mother, Maddock; brothers, Donald (Judeen), Fergus Falls, Minn., and Lanny (Lisa), Maddock; and sisters, Alpha (Bill) Roeszler and Sharon Henshel, both of Fargo, and Patricia (Steve) Pranke, West Fargo, N.D.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Services: Were held in Louisville.
Memorial services 4 p.m. Sunday, Viking Church, Maddock.
Burial: Lebanon (Ky.) Cemetery

Jevon Aasand
GRAFTON, N.D. -- Jevon "Jeep" Aasand, 78, Grafton, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, in Unity Medical Center, Grafton.
Jevon L. Aasand was born July 23, 1921, the son of Olaf and Annie (Berg) Aasand, in Walsh County, N.D. He graduated from high school in Park River, N.D. He farmed in the Hoople and Vessleyville, N.D., areas. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. After his discharge, he returned home. He married
Eleanor Davis on Nov. 5, 1943, in Grafton. He expanded his farming operation to Osseo, Minn., and retired in 1981.
He is survived by his wife; a son, David, Palatka, Fla.; a grandson; a brother, Ole (Frances), Grafton; sisters, Lila Monson, and Olga Whitham, both of Grafton, and Beulah Barta, Grand Forks.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mark; and a daughter, Joan Mohagen.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Tuesday, Grafton Lutheran Church.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Tollefson Funeral Home, Grafton, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Grafton Lutheran Cemetery.
Shirley Lieder
CROOKSTON -- Shirley B. Lieder, 71, Crookston, died Monday, July 31, 2000, in Altru Hospital.
Shirley Bleck was born June 21, 1929, the daughter of Robert and Bertha (Mutterer) Bleck, in Buffalo, Minn. She graduated from high school in Rockford, Minn. She attended New Ulm Academy and moved to Minneapolis, where she was employed by Northwestern Bank. She married
Bernard Lieder on Nov. 16, 1952. They moved to Crookston, where she was employed by First National Bank. She worked for Sundet's Toy and Hobby Shop. She retired in the early 1980's.
She is survived by her husband; daughters, Sue (Mark) Dundas, Wells, Minn., Heidi (John) Rahe, Rensselaer, Ind., and Jane (Ken) Whitter, Grande Cache, Alta.; nine grandchildren; and sisters, Marguerite (Clyde) Henson, Buffalo and Roberta (Ivar) Lemmage, McAllen, Texas.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Crookston.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service and one hour before services all in the church.
Burial: 1 p.m. Saturday, Elmwood Cemetery, Rockford (Stenshoel-Houske, Crookston).
Clarence Wintersteen
BEMIDJI -- Clarence "Kiddo" Wintersteen, 85, Bemidji, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, in North Country Regional Hospital, Bemidji.
Clarence Samuel Wintersteen Jr. was born Sept. 16, 1914, the son of Clarence and Blanche (Marin) Wintersteen, in Bemidji, where he attended school. He helped the family business of horse and dray, later know as C.S. Wintersteen Trucking Co. Inc. He also worked as a night foreman for E.E. Kenfield and Sons Box Factory. He married
Erma Hiltz on Jan. 29, 1938. She died June 1, 1960. He married
Marvel Rabe on Nov. 21, 1970. They lived in Bemidji and spent winters in Texas and Arizona.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Clarence (Eileen), Bemidji; two grandchildren; stepdaughters, Alice (Al) Sadek and Irene (Virgil) Beck, both of Bemidji; and a stepson, Bill (Rita) Rabe, Bemidji; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Lyle (Eleanor), Ravensdale, Wash.; and sisters, Jenny (Wright), New Hope, Minn., Violet "Sis" Thuney, Phyllis Cloutier, and Juanita Custer, all of Federal Way, Wash., and Lois Rock, High Point, N.C.
He was preceded in death by a son, Earl; a stepgrandson; and brothers, Daniel, Milo and Donald.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Friday, First Presbyterian Church, Bemidji.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7: 30 p.m. prayer service, Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji. Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
Clarence Schweigert
ZEELAND, N.D. -- Clarence Schweigert, 70, Zeeland, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, in St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck.
Clarence Schweigert was born Jan. 13, 1930, the son of John and Regina (Feist) Schweigert, in Zeeland, where he graduated from high school in 1947. He attended Ellendale (N.D.) Normal and Industrial College. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married
Virginia Brandner on Sept. 6, 1955, in Zeeland. They lived in Zeeland, where he was in the construction business with his father. He later owned and operated his own business, Schweigert Paint and Construction.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Lowell and Kyle (Laura), both of Grand Forks, Keith and Shannon (Holly), both of Fargo, Mahlon (Myrna), Hettinger, N.D., and Kent, Bismarck; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Rosemary Schatz, Zeeland, Marge (Bob) Stevenson, Dufur, Ore., Helen (Myron) Jakober, Missoula, Mont., Judy Schnieder, Windom, Minn., Ann (Tom) Price, Rapid City, S.D., and Kathy (Jerry) Bessette, Wichita Falls, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Friday, St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Zeeland.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 3: 30 p.m. today, Myers Funeral Home, Linton, N.D., and from 5 p.m. until the time of service, with a 7 p.m. rosary, in the church.
Burial: Church cemetery.
Kenneth Engen
Kenneth R. Engen, 76, Menifee, Calif., formerly of Grand Forks, died Dec. 1, 2000, at home.
Kenneth R. Engen was born April 8, 1924, in Grand Forks, where he grew up and attended school. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He lived in Oceanside, Calif., for 34 years. He retired in 1984 from the Civil Service at Camp Pendleton. He moved to Menifee in 1993.
He is survived by his wife, June, Menifee; sons, Dale (Linda) Laguna Hills, Calif., and Jon (Rose), Little Falls, Minn.; daughters, Judy (Jim) Quill, Dianne (Hank) Krautter, and Karen (Kevin) Sullivan, all of Carlsbad, Calif., Barbara Greene, Kailua, Hawaii, Patti (Kevin) Delano, Menifee, and Brenda (Sam) Orwig, Murrieta, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Gene (Audrey), Castro Valley, Calif., and Ron (Eileen), Carlsbad; and a sister, Beatrice Sheppard, Richmond, Calif.
Memorial services: 1 p.m. Friday, Arlington Chapel, Riverside, Calif. (Arlington Mortuary).
Mabel Murdell
ROCK LAKE, N.D. -- Mabel Murdell, 95, Bothell, Wash., formerly of Rock Lake, died Nov. 30, 2000, in Bothell.
Mabel Hollinberger was born July 2, 1905, the daughter of Spencer and Lavinia (Kinney) Hollinberger, in Clyde, N.D., where she attended school. She married
Fred Fleming on Nov. 15, 1930, in Cando, N.D. They lived in Egeland and later in Rock Lake. Fred Fleming died Aug. 15, 1944. She operated a dairy, was a seamstress and worked in the Rock Lake Cafe. In 1952, she moved to Yakima, Wash., where she worked for St. Elizabeth Hospital, Barwood's Cafe, and did housecleaning. She married
Joe Murdell in June 1956. They moved to Seattle, where she worked ad a cook for a University of Washington Fraternity, Bon Marche Dining Room and also took in ironing, seamstress, and cleaning homes. She retired in 1968. Joe Murdell died July 14, 1969.
She is survived by daughters, Hilda (Norman) Hendrickson, Rock Lake, and Marie (Kenneth) Mein, Kenmore, Wash.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a stepdaughter, June (Don) Kenyon, Seattle; five step grandchildren; a sister, Opal Knutson, Seattle; and a brother, Elmer, Yakima.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Amy and Helen; and brothers, Joe, Howard, and Harry.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, United Methodist Church, Rock Lake.
Burial: Egeland Cemetery
