Chester Silewski
GRAFTON, N.D. -- Chester Silewski, 65, Grafton, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, in Unity Medical Center, Grafton.
Chester Alfred Silewski was born May 31, 1935, the son of Steven and Elizabeth (LeClerc) Silewski, in Grafton, where he graduated from high school in 1953. He attended Mayville (N.D.) State Teachers College for two years. He married
Patricia Kalbrener on April 14, 1956, in Grafton. He worked as a teacher and store manager until joining the First National Agency (Norwest) in Grafton in August 1963 and worked there until retiring in 1994.
He is survived by his wife; sons, John (Joanie), Grafton, David (Laurie), Valley City, N.D., and Mike (Karmen), Andover, Minn.; daughters, Mary (Robert) Reid, Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Joan (Dave) Warnke, Grand Forks; 13 grandchildren; sisters, Irene Lindgren and Joyce (Mike) Gierszewski, both of Grafton; and a brother, Steve, Grafton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Friday, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Grafton.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Henriksen-Kamrowski Funeral Home, Grafton, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Church cemetery.
Sophie Krogh
MADDOCK, N.D. -- Sophie O. Krogh, 92, Fargo, formerly of Maddock, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, in Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, where she lived since April 1988.
Sophie O. Wang was born Nov. 13, 1907, in Maddock, where she attended school. She married
Olaf Krogh on Nov. 16, 1932, in Maddock. They lived in Maddock until 1944, when they moved to Fargo. They lived in Cooperstown, and in West Fargo. Olaf Krogh died in 1961. She worked for Herbst Department Store and Johnson For Shoes, both in Fargo. She was also a sales representative for Avon.
She is survived by a daughter, Vivian (Ed) Johnson, Fargo; a son, Stan (Mary), Fargo; two granddaughters; and sisters, Thora Hagen, Fargo, Viola Ostenson, Maddock, and Dagne Sundell, Marysville, Wash.
Services: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Hope Lutheran Church, Fargo.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: 1 p.m. Wednesday, North Viking Cemetery, Maddock (Korsmo, Moorhead).
Robert Wallette
BELCOURT, N.D. -- Robert R. "Bob" Wallette, 65, Belcourt, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, in Quentin N. Burdick Memorial Health Care Facility, Belcourt.
Robert R. Wallette was born Sept. 29, 1935, the son of Joseph and Mary (Martin) Wallette, in Belcourt, where he attended school. He worked in the Belcourt area as a general laborer. He married
Doris Falcon on Nov. 12, 1957, in Belcourt. They moved to Wolf Point, Mont., where he did concrete work and general construction. They returned to the Belcourt area. He continued doing concrete and construction work on the Garrison Dam Project and the missile sites and later for Poitra Construction, Belcourt. He retired in 1990 due to health.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Terry (Paulette), Dale (Yvette) and Richard and Frank, all of Belcourt; daughters, Cindy (Myron) Azure, Sherry (Orlin) Wallette, Tina (Terry) Peltier, and Jennifer Wallette, all of Belcourt; 27 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Delima Vivier, Belcourt, and Gertrude Demontigny, Rolla, N.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 14 brothers and sisters.
Services: 10 a.m. today, St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery

Alden Clemetson
PARK RIVER, N.D. -- Alden H. "Al" Clemetson, 91, Silverton, Ore., formerly of Park River, died Oct. 8, 2000, in the Silverton hospital.
Alden H. Clemetson was born April 26, 1909, the son of Henry and Gustie Clemetson, in Park River, where he graduated from high school. He attended North Dakota State University and Interstate Business College in Fargo. He married
Josephine Christenson in 1940. They moved to Silverton in 1941, where he owned and operated service stations for 26 years and worked for Farmers Oil in Woodburn, Ore., for 14 years.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mary Moll, Salem, Ore.; a son, John, Salem; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Avis Dahlen, Portland, Ore.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Gladwin, Lyle and Clair; and sisters, Byrdie Staven and Neome Christenson.
Services: Were held in Trinity Lutheran Church, Silverton.
Burial: Valley View Cemetery, Silverton.
George Walton
CARRINGTON, N.D. -- George E. Walton, 85, Carrington, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, in Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, N.D.
George Edward Walton was born March 6, 1915, the son of George and Minnie (Hall) Walton, in Sykeston, N.D., where he attended school. He moved to Carrington, where he graduated from high school in 1933. He worked for the Bell Telephone Co. for 42 years as a janitor and for the Foster County Auditor Office as a clerk, deputy and auditor for more than 40 years.
He is survived by a sister, Mildred Weir, Denver.
Burial: Carrington Cemetery.
Alma Halvorson
DEVILS LAKE -- Alma J. Halvorson, 87, Devils Lake, formerly of Tolna, N.D., died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, in Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, where she had lived since 1997.
Alma J. Hermanson was born Jan. 13, 1913, the daughter of Amund and Bertha (Borgerson) Hermanson, in Hamar, N.D., where she attended school. During World War II, she worked for Boeing Defense Plant, Seattle. She later moved to Minneapolis and then to Tolna in 1945. She married
Thorvald Halvorson in 1961, in Devils Lake. They lived and farmed near Tolna. Thorvald Halvorson died in 1993.
She is survived by a son, Arlen (Shirley) Morris, Thief River Falls; three grandchildren; sisters, Selma Morris, Enderlin, N.D. and Hazel Pewe, Bottineau, N.D.; and a brother, Glenn, McVille, N.D. and Milfred, Devils Lake.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Benjamin and Sandford; and sisters, Bernice Twete and Mable Hermanson.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Friday, Sigdal Lutheran Church, Tolna.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Sigdal Lutheran Cemetery.
M. Cunningham
NORTHWOOD, N.D. -- Marion Cunningham, 87, Northwood, formerly of New Rockford, N.D., died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, in Deaconess Health Center, Northwood.
Marion Williams was born Sept. 5, 1912, the daughter of Sam and Olga Williams, in Bordulac, N.D. She married
Alfred Cunningham on Sept. 27, 1929. They farmed in Grace City, N.D., until they retired and then moved to New Rockford. In 1994, they moved to Northwood. Alfred Cunningham died Feb. 12, 1995.
She is survived by daughters, Corine (David) Hathaway, Northwood, and Jane (Clare) Allee, Santa Rosa, Calif.; a son, Duane (Mabel), McHenry, N.D.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; sisters, Pearl Helliwell, New Rockford, and Audrey Jones, Phoenix; a half brother, Don Storwold, New Rockford; and half sisters, Lois Emerick, Minot, and Janis (Raymond) Jewett, Austin, Nev.
She was preceded in death by two brothers; and a sister.
Services: 2 p.m. today, Community Bible Church, Northwood.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford. Memorial are suggested to Gideons and Child Evangelism Fellowship. (Bilden, Northwood).
